"Okay," I said looking around at everyone still seated at the breakfast table. "Based on the things you've said I've conceded that my theory about destiny magic holding you locked to me might be a big steaming pile of crap, but that pile doesn't necessarily have to stink to high heaven. "Could be," Kim said. "And another thing, who's to say that destiny, or whatever it is, sent you back in time only to save Clarity? What if you were actually sent back to stop Jen from drinking herself to death, or Vicky from ending up out on the streets, or me from dying at the hands of my ex-husband?"
"Or me Mr. Sam," Maria chimed it, "from being sent back to Mexico where I would have died or even something much worse I think."
"Or me," Dana said, "from turning myself into a sour old spinster with nothing to look forward too other than her job."
"Or me," Candy said, "lord knows I was on a straight path leading from lipstick lez heading directly to full blown bull-dyke. Now there's a scary fucking thought. Can you even imagine me with a butch haircut and no makeup?"
We laughed and I thought that's our Candy. Even when things were serious she found a way to lighten the mood. However I did get a chill down my spine thinking of her with a butch haircut.
"I think I must be an anomaly," Pat said. "But that may be a good thing for us Mr. Sam. I'm at least living proof that one doesn't need to be a maiden in distress in order to love you sir. Because although I haven't come right out and said it in words, I do love you Mr. Sam, and I don't mind sharing and I didn't need to be rescued sir. Perhaps we have tricked your destiny in more ways than one."
"Perhaps so Pat Perhaps so," I mused considering what that might mean.
"And," Vicky said hopefully. "Maybe even if Sam does save Clarity he wouldn't be sent back to his time. Right? And heck, there may even be other girls Sam still needs to save in this time." Then Vicky looked up at me and she said, "I don't care if there are a hundred more girls Sam. I'd share you with a hundred or even two hundred as long as you still loved me."
"Yeah, like there's even an infinitesimal chance that I could ever not love you my little minx. God give me a break." I said laughing.
Vicky kissed me and then she climbed down off my lap and took the chair I had vacated.
"So," Jen pointed out, "We're right back to where we started. Where do we go from here?"
"I think it's fairly obvious," Dana said. "I think Sam needs to date Clarity."
Now that chilled my spine even more than the mental picture of Candy wearing a butch haircut.
"That may be the most obvious," I said, "but with that sexual attraction thing going on, Clarity and I could very easily end up in bed together. Especially if she did get hit with the same sexual attraction thing as I had."
Dana just stared at me and then said, "And?"
"And I'm her father for Christ sake. That's incest," I pointed out.
"You are not," Dana argued. "In 2006 as Sam Elton you were her father. In 1980 as Jimmy Maxwell you're just a guy with a hard-on for a hot chick."
"First off, I don't have a hard-on for her. Second off, it may be Jimmy Maxwell's prick that's buffing her, but it's Sam Elton's mind behind that buffing!" I argued right back.
"God Sam, you're such a big baby," Candy said with a snicker. "It isn't like there's never been a father that's done his own daughter before. It happens all the time. Some girls even appreciate and love it. Throughout history that stuff has been common place in order to keep the blood line pure, the Egyptians, the Romans, the Greeks..."
"I can't believe what I'm hearing!" I snapped. "Christ Candy! Do you really condone incest between a father and his own daughter?"
"No of course not," Candy quickly answered. "I'm just pointing out that it isn't unheard of is all. Besides, the only reason incest is even considered to be taboo in our society is because the possibility of the procreation resulting in a deformed offspring exists. With you in Jimmy Maxwell's body no taboo honey."
"It's still sordid," I said softly.
Suddenly I noticed a very hurt, almost panicky look cross Jen's face and then in a very fearful tone she asked, "Sam, do you consider me sordid because I allow you to use my son's body to take me to bed?"
"No Jen! God no! No, no, no," I stood and then after helping Jen up from her chair I took her into my arms and held her tight to me, "Oh god Jen no. Don't you ever even think that. I'm so sorry Jen. So very sorry. I wish I could just rip my mouth out. You couldn't be sordid if you lived three lifetimes and worked at it. I love you honey. If you love me, please forgive me, otherwise I'll be in misery until you do."
Jen smiled sweetly and then she kissed me long and fully, with all the warmth of her mouth and body and being, and I knew she had forgiven me.
"Hey! Get a room you two!" Candy called out.
I looked at Jen. Jen looked at me, and then we both looked toward the bedroom.
"Oh no you don't!" Dana told us in no uncertain terms. "Now you two get away from each other and take your seats so we can come up with a plan."
Reluctantly we did as Dana demanded. But Jen did stick her tongue out at Dana.
As soon as I sat down Kim said, "Sam I know how you feel but I don't find it as distasteful as you do. As long as the two people love each other, and they're both comfortable with having sex together I don't see that it matters, regardless of their ancestry. Besides, you're not even sure if Clarity wants to go to bed with you. Just calling her and going out on a date or two doesn't mean you'll get naked together. And I have faith in your strength and will power Sam. Whatever happens I know you'll do the right thing. The bottom line is you dating Clarity seems to be the only thing we can think of to keep her away from whatever boy takes her to that party and then either participates in the rape, or fails to protect her from it."
"And remember the on again off again theory. The heat could even be off now. You know, on during the party, off now." Pat pointed out.
That got a general consensus of agreement from all the girls and even I had to agree not being able to come up with any reasonable alternative.
Just as if it had been scripted after everyone agreed that my dating Clarity was the only plan of attack that seemed reasonable, the phone rang.
Candy got up and answered, "Hello ... No it isn't ... Oh hi. I'm Candy. Vicky said you might call. Hang on and I'll go get her." She held out the phone to Vicky, "It's Heather."
"Thanks," Vicky said taking the phone from Candy, and then talking with Heather.
After a short conversation over the phone Vicky said, "I gave Heather our address. She should be here in about an hour or so. And remember Sam isn't Sam he's Jimmy as long as she's here."
I looked at Jen, "An hour huh. Just enough time for us to..."
"No." Kim said shaking her head.
"No." Dana said.
Spoilsports," I grumbled getting up and collecting dirty breakfast dishes.
Jen did the tongue thing again, only twice this time.
After the breakfast dishes were cleaned up we played musical cars making sure there was a parking space available in the driveway where Heather could park her car, Dana, Candy and I, over fresh cups of coffee, re-hashed 'Operation Clarity' while the other girls busied themselves elsewhere.
By the time Heather pulled into the driveway it was nearly lunch time and as Vicky was heading out the door to greet our visitor she told us she planned on asking Heather to have an early lunch with us before Heather took the Ferrari out.
Vicky ushered Heather in and after her and I had said our hello's to each other, the girls introduced themselves.
Heather stood almost in awe as she was welcomed. "Gods. Are you sure this isn't a modeling agency or something? You're all so beautiful. I can't believe it."
The girls just chuckled.
"Surely you're a model Maria." Heather said to Maria. "You're so tall. And you have a figure to die for."
"No." Maria blushed as she answered. "I am a student at the junior college. I thank you for the complement."
"You're welcome Maria."
"Kim was a model once." Jen said. "But the rest of us are just plain old working girls."
"Modeling was a long time ago I'm afraid," Kim laughed.
"Oh," Vicky said. "Dana and Candy are both with the FBI. They're special agents."
"Wow! How exciting," Heather remarked. "I can just imagine some crook seeing you two coming after him. He'd probably give up voluntarily just so he could ogle at the two of you longer."
That generated a good chuckle.
"Well, I'm off to fix lunch," Pat said. "Nice to meet you Heather. I'll see you in a bit."
"Nice meeting you Pat. Thanks." Heather said smiling.
Vicky took Heather's hand and said, "Come on Heather. While we're waiting for lunch I'll show you around."
"Okay. Nice meeting you all." Heather told the girls as Vicky led her away.
When I heard Vicky and Heather going from room to room, Heather gushing about the décor I asked Dana, Candy, Kim and Jen if one of them would mind going along with Heather when she took the Ferrari out. All four were willing but because Dana was the most familiar with the car she was elected as the designated ride-a-long.
Lunch was great. Between Candy and Vicky they kept all of us in stitches the entire time. At one point I thought Heather might pee her pants she was laughing so hard.
We were just about finished eating and Candy had just completed giving us a very humorous account of something that had occurred while she and Dana were still in training at Quantico, thereby causing Heather to go into second bout of nearly wetting herself, when presumable without thinking Heather said, "Gods you guys are so much fun! You're really great! Do you all live here together?" Then her face paled and stuttering a little she said, "Gods, I'm ... I'm sorry. I don't know why I ask that. I just blurted it out. It's none of my business. I'm sorry."
Dana gently covered one of Heather's hands with her own for comfort. Then with a pleasant smile on her lips she said, "Don't worry about it honey. It's a normal enough thing to be curious about. And yes, we do all live here together. We also have another house over in Hollywood hills that we stay at some times as well. However, we really would be grateful if you didn't mention anything at Vicky's school. You know how people will invariably jump to a wrong conclusion and then the rumors start to spread."
"I swear to god, I won't say a thing. My lips are sealed." Heather said and then she pinched her lips together with a thumb and forefinger as conformation. Then she added, "I don't see why they make you live in the same district as the school you want to go to anyway. Gods, you aught to be able to go to any school you want. But they'll never find out Vicky lives outside her school's district from me, I swear."
I had to chuckle to myself. Talk about jumping to wrong conclusions. Dana had actually asked Heather not to mention that seven women were living in the same house with me, but instead Heather had interpreted Dana's plea of silence to mean her not saying anything about Vicky living outside her high school's school district.
Dana and Heather were gone for nearly four hours and it was after four before I heard the Ferrari pulling into the driveway. Can't miss the sound of those Webers, whatever in the hell Webers were.
