After this short greeting, Grace took out a little crystal clear gem from her robes and handed it to Jessy. “This is the testing stone. We only have two in the Clan, one of them I have and the other one is in Elder Jeng’s possession. Just hold it and pour a little power into it. It will change colour and brightness to show how far your spirit power cultivation has progressed in the barrier realm.”

Jessy held the stone in her hand and looked it over. Then without hesitation injected some spirit energy. The moment her spirit energy touched the stone, she felt a strange foreign warmth spread through her body, after a second it returned to the little gem.

Skay’s eyes were shooting light he was so excited. Something that can measure refined spirit energy, of course, the old madman was excited. This object was something they needed to get their hands on. As soon as possible!

James to was slightly intrigued as well, and having worked with Skay for a while now he could tell the crazy old bastard might just swallow that stone in an attempt to steal it. He cupped his chin and watched the stone as it slowly lit up.

The gem itself changed colours several times until finally settling on a dark blue. After it’s colour settled down, a luminescent glow slowly came into existence filling nearly a third of the gem.

Grace’s hand was shaking as she reached it out and took the gem to examine it. She then gave it a few shakes, and it returned to crystal clear. She then poured in some spirit energy and the gem took on an incredibly bright yellow shine.

James wasn’t too sure what to make of all this. ‘For starters, what does the colour mean? Doesn’t it just need to shine a certain amount to show how much we’ve filled our barrier?’

Skay had already flipped out his black-pad and started making notes on everything.

After a moment of inspection, Grace gave the gem another shake allowing it to turn clear, and handed it to James. Then as if James didn’t exist she completely ignored him and turned to Jessy with an expression of having just found a diamond in a cat’s litter box.

“Little Junior Jessy, I should tell you that you have an incredible aptitude for cultivation. There are seven shades of colour, red, orange, yellow, green, teal, blue and purple. In that order, they represent a person’s potential based. You’re the first blue reaction I’ve ever seen from the testing stone. Actually, you’re the only blue reaction I’ve ever heard of in the entire empire.”

Meanwhile, the crazy duo was busy doing some experiments while Grace was distracted. Skay was busily writing things down, and James looked like he was placing some electrodes onto the gem. When they were ready, Skay glanced at James and started hitting some buttons to record everything. They both gave each other a nod and James slipped a little bit of energy into the gem.

The moment his energy entered, a strange warmth flowed through his body. Then after going everywhere it could, it returned to the gem. At first, the gem had no reaction at all. For a whole 4 or 5 seconds, it just sat there like nothing had happened at all.

Then finally it rapidly began changing colours ... and then didn’t stop. It just kept changing endlessly and cycled through faster and faster, until the entire crystal looked black as all the colours merged together. At this point, a bright rainbow light started filling the insides of the gem until it had filled almost a third of it.

Seeing this James had a very strange look on his face. He closed his eyes to check his spirit realm. When he came out his face was even stranger.

“Boy, what’s going on? I thought you said you had nearly half your realm full now.”

Skay seemed to be simultaneously excited and disappointed at these results. Most likely because he’d already expected something else only to have that expectation blown away.

James looked at the stone in his hand then cupped his chin again. “Well, I can tell you right now old madman. My spirit realm is half full. My spirit energy covers half the area inside the barrier. I’m definitely not wrong about this.”

What James said was true. His spirit realm looked just like it normally did. Half the dome was filled with his wind nebula, inside of which was his lightning nucleus and on the ground remained his whirlwind of plasma. All together these things took up almost half of his spirit barrier.

As he tried to process what was going on Grace had turned back around and was frozen on the spot watching the black crystal with rainbow colours inside of it. She then actually rubbed her eyes. Then she pinched herself. Then she looked at the other shell-shocked disciples to make sure they saw it too.

“Black? It’s fucking turned black? What did you do to it?!” Before Grace had the chance to move forwards and snatch it James gave it shake and it turned clear again.

“Hmm, sorry I might have been operating my breathing technique while I did it. Let’s give it another try shall we?” Saying as much, James made a conscious effort to stop his breathing technique.

After stopping his breathing, he injected some energy again and the stone turned purple. After that it slowly glowed until half of it was filled.

Skay’s eyes glittered, and James’ face grew a triumphant proud grin. He looked to Skay. “What did I tell you. Breathing techniques can change everything. The more powerful it is, the more we can force into our barrier.”

As the two started a discussion on the implications of this experiment, Grace just stared with a bitter face. It was truly absurd. One of them with blue and one of them purple. What kind of freaks were these people?

After a short discussion, it was Skay’s turn. Amusingly Grace’s face just became even blanker, as Skay used the gem and got a light blue colour. His light only filled about a quarter of the gem. This was because he spent more time focused on research and rarely took the opportunity to train spirit energy like James or Jessy did.

After a moment of congratulating each other, they reluctantly returned the gem. Just to be sure, Grace tested it again. Then shaking her head with a dry smile, she placed it back into her robes.

It was finally time. Their first training session with Grace involved some basic tests to determine how strong they presently were. Grace was aware that regarding martial techniques and energy cultivation, there wasn’t much she could help then with. Instead, she was here to cultivate their battle experience.

For starters, she allowed them to sit in and watch some sparring between the disciples she brought with her. This way they could get an idea of what battle between cultivators was truly like.

Over on the other side of the arena things proceeded slowly, and thousands of commoners gradually cycled through the system. Everyone there would occasionally glance over to the Gau Clan disciples and sigh in awe as they fired off martial techniques left and right. They could only hope to one day reach the stage they could freely use techniques like that.

The first few battles were pretty exciting for the Brotherhood members, and they managed to get a good idea of just how much punishment a person could take when they used spirit energy to protect parts of their bodies and how much they could doll out with techniques.

After a few fights, one of the Sword Hall disciples walked up to the centre of their training area. For someone so young he was a big guy. He looked even younger than Harvy had when they first met. The only glaring exception was his size and colour. He stood at nearly 7 feet, and his body was covered from head to toe in rippling bulging muscles. He had a head of short white hair which contrasted significantly with his dark skin. Most interesting was his fire red eyes. He constantly looked like he was holding back his anger at ... well, pretty much everything.

His first opponent was a young man from the Hall of Forging who was so short and skinny, he made this battle look like a re-enactment of David and Goliath. Naturally on this world that battle ended differently.

David made a polite bow and gave a “let’s have a good spar, I hope to learn a lot.” in a quiet, humble voice. Goliath just stood there with his arms crossed arrogantly looking down his nose at David. He made a harrumph in reply then before Grace even gave the signal to start he stomped down onto the ground.

The earth seemed to ripple out towards David forcing him up into the air. Before David could even get his bearings, Goliath had approached and swung out one of his massive arms. A sickening ‘crunch’ rang out, and David shot through the air landing and rolling nearly 15 metres away.

James was rather surprised. He knew things could often be brutal for Clan members when it came to grudges and resources, but to him, it seemed like this pair hardly even knew each other and furthermore, this was just training.

Jessy seemed to take exception to the manner in which Goliath had won this spar, and while running forwards to check the injured David, she began to rebuke him. “Just what the hell are you doing? This is only a sparring match! There was no need to use so much force and you sure as hell didn’t have to use petty tricks. The fight hadn’t even started yet!”

Goliath just looked on with cold and indifferent eyes. “Little girl, fists and feet have no eyes. I don’t take any chances in any battles. Training, sparring or a true battle to the death. I don’t care. Fighting is for proving your strength and beating down your opponents. If you feel so heartbroken for the boy, then come up here and challenge me.”

James’ eyes squinted slightly as he watched Goliath giving Jessy a verbal beat down. In all honesty, he was perfectly correct. In this world, what use is having a weak fist? If you train yourself to fight with half power, then it will become a limit to your development. In his opinion, he totally agreed with Goliath.

Suddenly his face lit up into a huge smile. There must be some story behind all this. More importantly than that, some other thoughts were running through James’ head at present.

‘Him! I’ve found him. He will be perfect. Now the question is ... how do I get him to join us? He looks like he probably isn’t even planning to stay in the Clan much longer. He’s probably the same as me. He’s too proud to let something like the Gau Clan hold him back from reaching the limits of this world.’

Thinking this far James turned to Grace, who seemed entirely unperturbed by this matter, and with a small smile on his face, like he was just distractedly asking, he started an inquiry on the Goliath.

“Elder Grace, who is that young man?”

Grace just let a small sigh slip out then eyed the ... man-boy, in the arena. “That is Haungshu. His father and mother were killed in the city when he was young, and he witnessed the whole incident. At the time, there was a rather depraved character moving about who would find couples with a child and force them to do some unspeakable things to each other in exchange for the child’s life.”

Her eyes moistened slightly, as she remembered back to those incidents, she stared off into the distance as if looking back through time. James wasn’t sure why, but he felt Grace must have a history with this serial killer as well.

After a short second of being lost in her memories, she cleared her throat then glanced back to Goliath, who was now just standing there like a tower of muscle and looking at the yelling and screaming Jessy.

“Well, ever since then he’s been somewhat uncontrollable. The clan isn’t going to make an effort to change that because eventually, it will become his strength and drive. It will make him stronger, and by extension, strengthens the clan.”

Finished speaking on the matter she went to stand up because Jessy was moving to engage Goliath. James waved a hand in front of her, then gave a gentle shake of the head.

“She has to learn sooner or later that her element isn’t all-mighty. She’s had it easy up until now because it’s rather powerful against normal individuals, but now she’s about to meet an abnormal with a powerful will. I suspect this battle will be good learning experience for her.”

Grace made a bitter smile. To think she was being lectured on how to train someone from a fresh little barrier realm practitioner. She had to accept he was right and she soon changed her mindset somewhat.

In her head, she was already thinking of Jessy as her personal disciple that she would train up to greatness. However, as an extension of that feeling, she’d also become a little more protective of her than normal disciples. If she allowed that to cloud the girl’s training, it would only limit her.

In the training area, Jessy shot towards Goliath. Before she even got into striking distance, he through another earth ripple out with his foot. Jessy somehow kept her balance as the earth rose up in a wave under her feet. As she reached to the crest of the wave, she bent her legs and used the earth ripple to propel herself forwards.

Before she could get close enough to grab out or throw a punch a huge hand descended towards her as if covering the sky. Having the experience of numerous battles as a mortal martial artist, she adapted quickly and managed to spin her body in mid-air. As the palm passed through the space her head had once been in, she grabbed out and latched onto Goliath’s arm.

The moment she made contact a savage grin spread across her face, and she began to pump as much spirit energy into his body as possible. That grin very quickly turned sour as she only felt the arm continue to descend with unstoppable force, and she was smashed into the ground.

The air was forced from her lungs, and her body was wracked with pain. She curled up into a ball onto the ground as she tried to gain control of her breathing. As she curled up protectively, a dirty great big boot came towards her, and she was launched into the air.

James could tell at a glance that Goliath was going easy on her, despite what he’d said earlier. If he’d put some force into that kick, then Jessy would surely travel further than a few metres and the sound of things breaking would most definitely have been heard.

James just sat and watched. He made no move to help Jessy, and he didn’t even show any signs of concern. He just stood there with his arms crossed observing.

Grace looked like she was about to run out again but somehow mustered enough willpower to stop herself. As everyone else watched on with their mouths agape, Jessy started to crawl up from the ground. Her cheongsam was dirty and ripped in places. Her red hair was a frazzled mess, and her face was flushed red with embracement and rage.

To think that she had taking an ass whopping twice since coming to this world. As someone who rarely lost, she simply couldn’t accept it. Furthermore, her trump card didn’t even phase the guy. Well, technically that’s not true because the evidence of its effect was visibly protruding out from his body.

Jessy was stunned when she saw this. It looked like he was holding his body up with pure force of will alone. He was definitely affected by her lust element but managed to overcome it with sheer willpower. What kind of twisted mind did this guy have?

Eventually, Jessy had crawled up from the ground and managed to stabilise her beaten and sore body. Instead of bowing out like most people expected from her, she lowered herself into a backwards leaning martial arts stance and raised her hands in front like two knives.

Techno CultivatorChapter 3 Elder Gau

Abnormal! If James were asked to describe his present experience travelling under the arm of a middle-aged man skip-jumping through the sky, he would start with that word. Closely followed by uncomfortable, not solely because of the lack of any safety restrictions to prevent his death from falling and not even so much because bugs kept hitting him in the face and the wind burned his cheeks, but mostly because this powerful but amiable-seeming middle-aged man was constantly rubbing his nipples...

Techno CultivatorChapter 4 Mind Reading Monoliths

-Back at the Gateway site- “Argh ... it fuckin’ hurts.” A now very thin and sickly looking Fatty Alan crawled out of a small ditch at the field where no more than a few days ago James and his two companions had awoken. He stared at his surroundings and then at the starry night sky and then at his bloodied jumpsuit. The night was dark and moonless, which in this case was very unfortunate for Fatty, seeing as the two moons are usually always on opposing sides of the planet. Fatty, being no...

“From what you just said you won’t necessarily be able to use our magic even with our knowledge and you can’t change your cultivation direction without becoming a commoner again. What exactly is it that you want from us?” James’ face was stern as he asked this. He knew the answer to this question could change everything. His so far easy journey into this world may come to a sudden obstruction. In this sense, he couldn’t help question if his luck at being discovered immediately on arrival was...

Techno CultivatorChapter 6 Harvy and the Demon Spawn

Harvy Gau was a minor disciple of the Clan. Being 3 times removed from the head family’s bloodline he was treated like dirt. Resources that others were given he’d have to work twice as hard to earn. He looked young. Perhaps just escaping puberty and considered a man at 18 or 19. However having trained spirit energy to the edge of the Spirit Barrier he naturally aged slower. In truth, he was nearly the same age as James. Interestingly enough, should he ever break through the Spirit Barrier,...

Techno CultivatorChapter 8 The Initial Lab

Before coming to James’ room Jessy had been for a bath and changed into some short grey robes that reached down far enough to just barely cover past her lower regions. In her own room she’d worked herself up into quite a fit of an anger, until at last she couldn’t handle it and had to give him a piece of her mind. Before James could even register what was happening or employ his spirit energy she’d launched herself across the room and grappled him to floor. During her grappling him to the...

Techno CultivatorChapter 9 First Lesson on Cultivating

After a short time of cleaning up the lab, with James choosing to avoid contact with anything remotely suspicious looking, his body finally began to calm down and he and Skay returned to the courtyard. In the paved courtyard was a handful of odd gadgets like strange looking cameras and metal antennae on tripods, which seemed very poorly wired together with a mish-mash of bizarre electronics sticking out of them and connecting to a single advanced looking laptop on a wooden desk running some...

Techno CultivatorChapter 10 Harvy the Ghoul

James spent the majority of his afternoon in the lab playing hide and seek with the little Forest Hopper trying to get better control of applying the instantaneous speed produced by the lightning element and also some time jumping up and down from the building testing his weightlessness from his wind element. After a few hours Skay finally finished whatever mad experiments he’d been busying himself with then came out to find James rapidly sprinting away from another lightning/plasma ball...

Techno CultivatorChapter 11 The True Spirit

The next day everyone gathered in the courtyard. Jessy looked rather ragged today. Apparently she’d been dragged into the lab at some point for her hypno-memory implant and experienced some things she’d have been better off not ever having witnessed. According to Skay, she very willingly jumped at the chance to join the Brotherhood. The face she made when he said that showed a great deal of grievance however, so James decided to take it with grain of salt. The now ever present Harvy was...

-Lost Village- Lost Village wasn’t actually lost, it would be more accurate to call it Forgotten by Everyone Village. The reason it’s called lost village was ironically lost to time and the some 500 odd residents didn’t particularly care what the town was called. -The Lab- When James awoke he dazedly looked at his surroundings. When he realised he was laying half naked on Skay’s questionable operating table he was instantly worried. As he made to climb up he quickly decided this was a bad idea as the pain in his chest and ribs flared. With a soft grunt he laid himself back down and quietly contemplated on his recent encounter. He came to realise two things. Firstly he needed power to live in this world. The fact that cultivators could just kill...

The pervasive aura of death settled on the courtyard and everyone felt a shiver up their spine as if the grim reaper himself was standing behind them and lining up his scythe for the first and final swing. An ancient sounding and truly demonic voice rang out from Harvy as if evil itself was speaking through him from the underworld. “The Dark Lord rises on this pathetic mortal plane. After a good sleep the trio of Dark Brotherhood’s founders met in the lab to find a perfectly ghoulish Harvy tidying up with Little Blue running around everywhere madly. The moment he saw James he ran up his leg and bit his arm. “Ahhh! You little shit!” Once he gave a response, Little Blue let go and started madly running around again. The Hall of Forging was a massive underground structure. If James didn’t know better he’d think it belonged to some dwarfish race. It spread out over nearly a kilometre underground and hundreds of ventilation stacks channelled through the underground back to the chimneys in the circle courtyard up on the surface. The stone halls and walls were all lit by odd spirit stones, spread out evenly and letting off a humble glow not dissimilar to incandescent bulbs. Little green stones sat on the...

Ascension Star is a planet with a circumference of nearly 300,000 km. For reference, the Earth sits at a comfortable little 40,000 km, and Saturn is about 380,000 km. To help you realise just how big that is, the surface area of earth is about 510 million km2. The surface area of Ascension blows it out of the water at a whopping 28.6 billion km2. Now for a new comparison, take New Zealand. It’s got a surface area of 260,000 km2. If the surface of the earth was covered in New Zealand’s, it...

-The Lab- The laboratory had settled down rather quickly after this whole scene finished playing out. It should be said that James wasn’t just heartlessly torturing the man. If he was going to grant someone the element of wrath, then he wanted to make sure that person had the ability to contain it. If the emotional elements affected a person’s nature like he suspected they did, then the last thing he’d want is someone constantly angry at everything. To say that Goliath had passed with...

James was rather upset that everything had devolved like that. For starters, why did he react like that? He’d never been so touchy about such things before. Normally he would have just let it slide for now and make a note to take his own back later. Then a sudden thought hit him. “Oh no!” he mumbled. He then closed his eyes and entered his spirit realm. For the next month anyone that could work, worked. The entire city was ripped up from the ground like an old tree and rebuilt. A wall 20 metres high was slowly raised around the city. Luckily the city had a massive reserve of grain, so anyone that worked was fed from the stocks. The Imperial Branch wasn’t too happy with that, seeing as normally all those reserves were sold to the capital city and if they didn’t get a certain quota, the Imperial Clan would jump up and down and probably have...

As the day dragged out into night James recorded each person’s breakthrough experience. What he quickly discovered was that anyone with an abstract element had a different experience. Instead of just coalescing a True Spirit, merging with it and then breaking the Barrier, they all suffered what they described as a tribulation. From earlier research on regular cultivators breaking through, James had learnt that it was all basically the same. When you create your spirit, it requires an...

Techno CultivatorChapter 30 The Quarry

-Star City- James was mulling about the city rather early the next day and just as the suns were coming up, he sauntered over to the south-east corner were the guild plaza was located. This area was a vast open square with a wide cylindrical job board in the centre. Every few meters the background colour of the job board changed and was titled after a different guild or faction. Surrounding the plaza were an assortment of buildings all bought and paid for by guilds that wished to set up a...

Techno CultivatorChapter 31 All Threats Must Die

Now that the zone was cleared of beasts and James was out of commission, Skay as the Vice Guildmaster was forced to start making some decisions. While he set up a basic outpost around the Quarry, the Guilds got news that James had disappeared since the Mole incident. They soon started trying to play some political games and skirting the rules both in the Empire and in Star City. They were only lucky that Jasmine and Jessy mostly cleaned up any messes. Had they not jumped in to stop Skay,...

Techno CultivatorChapter 32 Meeting Artimus

-Guild Branch- The Tech City Guild Branch, that was somehow being managed and run by ex-Lackey 1, now Overseer Gary, was far more impressive than in the past. It was a 30 story building right next to the biggest plaza in town, which also happened to be the Monolith plaza. It remained mostly empty but was manned 24/7 and still posted Jobs that needed doing. Most of the cultivators that lived in the shadowy side of the city got their jobs here. The entire third floor was just 4 walls of job...

Techno CultivatorChapter 33 The Blink of an Eye

Seeing he’d managed to work up a response from James with that little play his subordinate just acted out, Artimus smiled and placed his tea on the ground next to his seat then crossed his legs and eyed James. “It’s rather simple James. You’ve only been here for 3 or 4 months, and you’re already achieved so much. You’re already running a city in my empire, you and your 3 companions have already stepped into true spirit realm 10 times faster than even the quickest cultivators in the entire...

Techno CultivatorChapter 34 Mysterious Challenger

-Tech City Spire- With 4 days left until the auction, things had been quickly ramping up in the city. More and more powerful cultivators were entering the city and with that influx was the increase of people taking advantage of the cities services. Namely, a lot of people were trying their hand at the Spire or at the Arena. On this day, James had been busy trying to ascend to the 22nd level of the tower when he got a coms from Jasmine. “James, it would appear that a new contender has...

Techno CultivatorChapter 35 Auction Day

-Tech City- Apart from the excitement of Ruff at being in a high-speed vehicle and his constant attempts to stick his head out the window while they travelled back to Tech City and supersonic speed, the trip back was uneventful. That is until they landed and the ground team on standby at the hanger realised there was a huge dismembered corpse in the back of the dropship along with the corpses of at least a hundred other dead spirit beasts. James called up Skay to come and take care of...

Techno CultivatorChapter 36 Spirit Aura

With the day of the Brotherhood auction finally complete, life in Tech City returned as close as it could to normal. The city and guild had a huge influx of new residents, guild and clan offices, money and resources. A few factions tried to use their newly acquired equipment to infiltrate and capture members of the Brotherhood only to quickly discover that nothing they brought from the guild could operate within 10 kilometres of the city walls. What they also didn’t know, was that every...

Techno CultivatorChapter 37 Forging 101

With the discovery of soul Pressure and soul sense, James now had a whole new element to consider in regards to his cultivation training. With that in mind, he once again secluded himself away in the HQ building and spent the next month focused on understanding it more, finding a way to train and focus it and discovering how it tied into spirit energy. After meticulous experiments and training, he concluded that he could only touch the tip of the iceberg in regards to spirit aura. He went...

Techno CultivatorChapter 38 Pinocchio becomes a real boy

-Tech City- Having spent the last two months sequestered away from the world doing forging, James returned to surface only to find that the city seemed to have once again started slowly expanding. With the restoration of the monolith, the city limits had been restored to tens of kilometres as opposed to its previous few kilometres. Thanks to that, the outskirts of the city now had people buying up land and building homes and businesses. Golden grain was once again filling fields off into...

Techno CultivatorChapter 39 Merging Spirit Realms

As the core of the Guild sat in the office, James finally opened his eyes. Unceremoniously wiping away the tear on his cheek, James willed it, and his guild seal appeared floating in front of him. Much to the surprise of the others, not only did the guild seal appear on the round table, so too did the incorporeal, ethereal form of Jasmine appear. She sat in a seizer position on the table and wore a flowing silk gown, making her only more enchanting than ever. That is, apart from the obvious...

Techno CultivatorChapter 40 Off to the Capital

With all responsibility to the guild well and truly shirked, James now had the free time to ... well if being honest, not much changed for the first few weeks. For starters, James had long since shirked his responsibility to the city. He had given all of those duties to other people, namely Jessy and Jasmine. It also didn’t help that he was still affected by Skay’s death. The first few weeks were spent flipping between brainstorming for his future flying Headquarters and meditating alone. By...

Techno CultivatorChapter 41 The Dragon Vault

-Dragon Vault- Deep in the underground of a world that spanned the distance of countless suns, lay a vast expansive cave network. This cave network stretched out and crisscrossed through the entire planet. It had caves as big as the entire planet of Ascension. In a shallow part of this cave system, far and distant from any other underground caves, was a relatively tiny cavern. This cave spanned only a few hundred kilometres and was carved entirely from a shiny black rock. In the centre of...

Techno CultivatorChapter 42 Beginnings of a Conspiracy

James walked into his guild master office and sat down at his round table. Already seated and waiting for him was his other 5 sins, the 5 Ghosts and what he was referring to as a knight in his own mind. He felt a profound sense of happiness as he surveyed his people. The sins were the foundations of the brotherhood. Goliath of Wrath, Jessy of Lust, Exsue of Envy, Fatty of Gluttony, Kelly of Sloth and himself, James of Pride. Unfortunately, they’d lost their greed thanks to the strange...

Techno CultivatorChapter 43 Master

Having fulfilled his purpose, James retreated to his Forge in the Lab. He had so much he was trying to focus on recently and decided to distract his scattered thoughts for a short while to work on a project he’d been putting off for a while. In the forging room, James stood at a bench looking at an assortment of dark stones. These were his space stones. After some careful investigation, he discovered that the pocket space inside a stone was not relative to the size of a stone, but rather to...

Techno CultivatorChapter 44 War of the Worlds

The next two months, until the War of the Worlds, passed rather quickly for James. He spent most of his time training his combat and practising forging and alchemy. The incident with the mercenary army spread far and wide, and the tickets that had been bought up for the war of the world started to find their way onto the black market or disappeared from the hands of the smaller factions that had managed to nab one at auction. The two nations of Soel and Hastoel were starting to flare up even...

Techno CultivatorChapter 45 The Arena Upset

-Spirit District Arena- The third day of the arena battles came quickly. The number of competitors had been whittled down to only 26. Some of these competitors had managed to sneak into the top 26 only by sheer luck at having lucky draws from the box, while others had stepped into this position through a great deal of hardship. Of the 26 remaining competitors, 9 of them were from factions unaffiliated with a nation or super power and weren’t seed members. One of these people was the sword...

Techno CultivatorChapter 46 Possessed

The arena was quiet and still. The growing invisible pressure was already at a staggering level. The spectators were sweating in expectation and excitement. It almost seemed that the viewers of this battle were even more anxious for it to start than the duo standing in the arena. James stood in a very relaxed manner, half facing Sword Girl, with his scimitar and pistol just dangling at the side. The Sword Girl lowered her stance with her left hand sitting on the sheath and the thumb touching...

Techno CultivatorChapter 47 The Gears of War

The award ceremony that night was brief and uneventful. Hundreds of prizes of various qualities were handed out. Thanks to the numerous deaths of competitors both during the main competition and the ranking matches, a great many factions managed to step into higher positions and receive rewards beyond their capability to earn. The ranking matches were mostly just for the purposes of filling all the positions from 1st to 26th, which were the only individuals to receive any compensation for...

Technocratic Episode 1 The Storm Begins

Technocratic: Episode 1 : The Storm Begins By Robyn Tom Turner paced his office restlessly. It had been a long day at the Techno Center. A long day of quenching fires, pushing paperwork, and filing reports. All the tasks they had failed to tell him about when he applied here, but tasks which took more time than doing what he loved: finding and catching technologists. Ever since the second half of the twenty-fourth century when technology merged with the arcane, the Techno...

Technocratic Episode 2 Diving into Madness

Technocratic: Episode 2 - Diving into Madness By Robyn You don't know how great being normal is until you're not. Oh you strive for individuality, to set yourself apart from the crowd, but deep down there is always a need, a desire, to be normal. To be differentiated, but not different. It was a pleasant May day when Tom's normal life shattered into abnormality. Before he had held no secrets, now he had one big secret. It had all happened so fast too. One moment he was staging...

How can the identity of the person be changed? By surgery? By magic? Or can it? Tom Turner had heard that one's identity changed eventually to fit their environment. At least that was what all the transgender experts told him when he explained how he had once been a man. Unfortunately, Tom's identity had never...

TECHNOSEXUAL

TECHNOSEXUAL By Dorothy StrangeloveHe was more than an ordinary man. He was far, far more than an ordinary man. One thought about the soft warmth of his skin and what lie beneath it made my heart beat faster and every nerve in my body tingle. I was sure as I was briefed on my latest patient my pupils had started to dilate but this was a busy place and no one would have bothered to check me for outward signs of arousal the way I was checking me. "He's a 20-51." My supervisor told me, "I thought...

Nanotechnology at Work

"This is my daughter, Kimberly. Say hello to Dr. Pierce, Kim." "Lo," the girl said and sniffed, never lifting her chin, lips quivering. "She's heavily tranquilized, doctor. It was the only way I could get her here. Kimberly is quite willful, very stubborn." "It's the age," said Pierce, admiring the ripe body of the fifteen-year-old standing before him, five and a half feet of succulent feminine beauty, lusciously young but thoroughly nubile, a bit top-heavy perhaps but her hips...

Technology Malfunction A Short Story By Maryanne Peters "Just because technology allows you to do it, doesn't mean you should do it." It was not the first time that Ashton had said the words to his friend Cody, but it seemed like it might just be the last time. He was on the gurney now. The surgery was less than an hour away, and Cody would soon be unconscious as the drugs took effect. "You don't understand," said Cody. "This is what I want. What I've always wanted. To be...

Technology at Work or rather PLEASURE

Kay was in her favorite chair, drinking her morning coffee while CNN was on the background. The phone rang and surprisingly turned out to be a video call from lawyer Bob she hadn’t heard from long time. Before going any further, I need to explain how Bob fit into Kay’s life. Originally, he represented her as lawyer in a legal proceeding. She had found him physically (and mentally) attractive and the feeling was mutual. Over a period of a few years they had several phone conversations, several of...

Technology Brings Couples Together

She was clearing through her emails when she noticed a new one pop up. It was from her boyfriend. They lived in different places, seeing each other as much as they could, but it never seemed like enough. Sexual energy always built up between their visits, with suggestive discussions, texting, and emails. Sometimes it was almost unbearable. The subject line in the email was, "read this before you go home." The note from her boyfriend was as follows: "I always miss you, Iove our suggestive...

Technology wrestles with the Wuhan virus

A virus invaded us from China…When people first started hearing about this mysterious virus in Wuhan China, no one worried.  The WHO told everyone it was not possible for the virus to transfer human to human.  The CDC echoed the same thing and even when it first appeared here in the USA, we ignored it.Well, all the experts were wrong or full of shit. The government ended up shutting down the country for three months and that seemed to have done the trick. By July, people were once again able to...
