Katherine was dressed and we were both sitting at the 1950's kitchen table drinking coffee. Katherine had regained her composure, fixed her make-up and hair, and she now looked much as she had when she first arrived.
While the coffee was brewing I had suggested to Katherine that she phone her office and cancel any appointments she had for the rest of the day, which she did.
"If I didn't have these feelings for you, which I still have by the way, and if I wasn't so certain that you're not the Sam Eldon I've been treating for the last ten years, I would have you committed Sam ... or do you prefer to be called Jimmy?" "Like a good lap dog, I come when called by either name." I told her.
I had just finished telling her everything, from start to finish.
"I've got something very important I need to tell you Sam, but I'd like to ask you a few questions first." She said very seriously.
"Okay. Fire away." I offered.
"If you did indeed come back from 1980 two days ago then what happened to the Sam Eldon I knew?"
"I shrugged my shoulders, "That's as much a mystery to me as how his personal belongings ended up in the clothes I had on the day of the auto accident when I originally went back to 1979 two years ago."
"Two years ago," She mused and then she said, "So you're saying had you not gone back in time then, it would be 2008 right now."
"Yep," I nodded. "That's what I'm saying."
"And you're also saying that in your original life, in your own time, before the auto accident your life was very different from the life of the Sam Eldon that I know?"
"Oh yeah," I nodded again. "Originally I would never have lived in a shit house like this," I waved my arm indicating the house, "or had need of a shrink. The only real problems I had were my daughter's rape and the numerous problems that had caused her over the rest of her life, and the divorce from my wife Mary. I've always kind of blamed myself for that."
"Okay, so you told me back in 1979 you had seven wives and that they all loved you and you loved them. Is that right?" She asked looking at me kind of strangely.
"Not loved Katherine, love. I love those women with all my heart and soul and I always will. You have no idea of the pain I carry around inside me because I can't hold them. I would trade every year I have left in this life to spend just one day with them."
"And they shared you together?"
"Happily. I told you how guilty I felt about that and how they had convinced me I was full of it and how they didn't want anything to change. They loved our marriage and our way of life together."
"And this Heather? So ... you love her as well?"
"Yes, I told you. She just isn't one of my wives. Nothing important is decided in our marriage unless we're all agreed."
"And Cl ... ah ... Clarity? You love her as a woman as well as a daughter right?"
"Yes. I've all ready told you that Katherine." I answered softly still feeling a little guilt because of the way I felt about my daughter.
"And in 1980 you had sex with you own daughter right?"
"Damn it Katherine! It's like I told you. We kind of had sex." I explained once again. "We never actually had intercourse, only oral sex. But it was inevitable that the two of us would end up in bed together. I think even then I understood that. I just didn't admit it to myself. Even my being in a different body I just couldn't get past the feeling that it was incest in some way. Looking back on it now I see that was silly. But ... anyway like I told you, allowing Clarity to fall in love with me was the only way we could think of to keep her safe and away from that party. I did what I thought was best at the time Katherine. I swear to god I did. Ah, but in my ignorance I didn't realize how what I was doing could affect the future."
"And..." Katherine started to ask another question but I interrupted her.
"Katherine, you're asking me questions I've already answered. I've told you everything including how I felt and how my wife's felt, and well, everything. I didn't leave a thing out. I didn't hold anything back from you, not even the things I'm not so very proud of."
"I know. I'm sorry." She answered. "I'm just trying to understand. You have to admit it's a pretty fantastic tale to swallow. One more question okay?"
"Okay." I agreed.
"Why did you tell me?"
"Because I'm uncomfortable with what I did to you," I answered. "However, and as weak as they may be I do have two excuses for my actions; first is the on again off again magic I told you about. Just like you felt an attraction to me I felt that same attraction toward you, and second, and probably the stronger of the two; you removing your top and baring those spectacular, extra large breasts of yours right in my face because of that primal therapy crap. What man wouldn't take advantage with those two beauties in his face?"
"Primal therapy isn't crap, but that's beside the point. Didn't you like doing those things with me?" She asked me point blank.
"Are you kidding?" I answered. "You're fantastic. You've got a body that could stop a freight train, and a face that would launch maybe a thousand ships it's so damned attractive. What man in his right mind wouldn't want to be with you? I only feel bad because I'm so damn old and bald it wasn't fair to knock-out like you."
