“He just lost his wife, and he’s lonely. Like I said, he’s depressed, and he’s not thinking too straight just now. We pick him up and take him home, and keep an eye on him for a bit, okay. It’ll probably blow over,” he said with a shrug.
When the trio pulled into the driveway, they found the front door held open by Ronnie. In a low voice, she explained what was happening. Directing her husband to the dining room, she took the kids upstairs to help pack.
Frank settled into a dining room chair opposite from Sue, next to Jim. The older man was slumped over the table, crying incoherently.
