James jumped away from the laser and waved to Tina and me. "Head to the briefing room," he ordered us. Tina dashed off, but I waited among the hanging fabric panels that shielded the ready room from the spray designed to counteract the acid atmosphere as James walked toward the exit.
"Who was that?" the major snapped as James approached the exit. I slipped a bit deeper but remained close enough to hear the conversation.
"Sounded like Ulla," James said.
"I've looked over the list of all the citizens on Ishtar," the major said. "There is no Ulla."
"Ulla is one of the concubines belonging to Timothy," James said.
James had reached the panels, so I started to make my way through them. I continued to strain my ears to hear the major's response.
"What's a concubine doing calling out information? How can she know it so quickly? I know she's not in the command post."
I had to cover my mouth to keep a giggle from escaping. I was now out of the panels and darted over to the chair to sit for a moment.
"No, she isn't in the command post you have seen," James said. "But think about what I told you about how things were when the barbarians still roamed. Do you really think we could have safely manned the command post? Ask Alexis what it was like living on that side of the doors."
James appeared through the panels. I could see him shaking his head as he made it way toward the airlock. I ran over to put my arm in his as the major fought his way free of the panels. He was just emerging when Ulla's voice called out again. "James, the ship has finished emerging. We have a scan, but..."
There was a long pause and then Veronica spoke. "James, what has Ulla puzzled is that the scan doesn't really show us a ship. It looks more like a collection of corvette parts that haven't scattered across a solar system. I can't imagine ... wait, I have an IFF signal."
"Another concubine?" the major asked with a snort.
"Of course," I said as I turned to look at the major. "You don't think Timothy would be in the command post without both of his concubines to keep him company?"
"James, the IFF is saying Cancun," Veronica informed us. "But I think we're going to have to send a tug to salvage the ship."
"Now why would I ask you to do that," the voice of Captain Gates called out. "I'll admit the armor is a bit beat up, but we can still maneuver."
"Captain Gates," Timothy called out. "Your ship has more holes in it than any piece of swiss cheese I have ever seen. Do you have casualties?"
"I believe Gertrude broke her wrist when the concubine barracks was hit," Captain Gates responded. "And Sergeant Reid will need some medical pod time. We had a problem in the missile feed. He went to fix it and a missile rolled over his legs."
"That's all?" Timothy asked.
"Oh, I think everyone has some bumps and bruises," Captain Gates said. "We were making some rather violent maneuvers and the gravity in the ship was fluctuating due to the hits, but nothing too serious. Why?"
"Because I can't believe your ship is still combat-worthy," Timothy said.
I noticed that James had stopped walking and looked around. The conversation over the speakers had captured my attention. We were standing in the airlock and the door to the hallway was opening, allowing us to leave the laser rooms behind.
"We aren't combat-worthy," Captain Gates said. "We have no more missiles and have run out of rail gun projectiles as well. And I wouldn't want to take too many more hits on what's left of our armor."
"Out?" Timothy cried. "But a Patrician carries almost two hundred projectiles for their rail guns, how could you run out?"
"Lots of big transports just waiting to be shot at," Captain Gates replied cheekily. "It was a veritable turkey shoot and the Sa'arm make wonderful turkeys. Now I'm guessing we head to the moons orbiting your lovely planet."
"Yes," Timothy said. "And welcome back to Ishtar."
"Welcome back?" Major Bonham asked.
"Captain Gates brought Cancun to Ishtar about a month ago," James replied. "Strangely enough, it was in just about the same condition last time. Why?"
The major just shook his head. "Never mind. I find that the more I hear, the less I want to understand. I better go alert my marines that we'll have visitors shortly."
James nodded. "You can head back through the doors. Just remember that only one door will open at a time."
"You don't suffer from too much paranoia," the major replied sardonically as he strode off down the passage. James took my hand and started to pull me toward the command post. I giggled and followed.
We had only gone a couple of steps when the speakers came back to life. "Private Rabb," the voice of Colonel Johanes called out. "I am listening to the chatter; it sounds like a ship has just arrived."
"Yes," James replied while we continued to make our way to the command post. "Cancun just emerged from hyperspace. The ship is heavily damaged, but Captain Gates assures us that she can bring the ship to the docks without help."
"I heard," Colonel Johanes replied. "What does this mean to me? Will it disrupt my research?"
"It shouldn't," James said. "I believe you have Linus helping you right now. He won't be required for a standard repair stop. And we can keep the crew out of your way."
"I can live with that," Colonel Johanes replied. "Just keep them out of the labs and out of my marines' way. These artifacts could prove to be very important and I don't need the research tainted."
"We'll do that," James said.
"James," Ulla's voice cried. "I have two more jump points. One in line with Ursus, the second in line with Wolf."
"With the Wolf System? Captain Gates, was there another ship visiting the system when you were?" James asked.
"More!" Colonel Johanes called out. "James, this will not do. I can't have the speakers calling out every ship arrival."
"You can tell the AI to turn off your speakers," I whispered.
"Our duty is to monitor the arrival of ships and to offer assistance as required," James reminded him. "This requires that all citizens be alerted when a ship arrives. You can work with the AI to reduce how much it disrupts your work."
"Just get this over with!" the scientist barked back. "I'm here to conduct serious scientific investigations, not nursemaid a bunch of broken ships."
"I thought we were supposed to nursemaid broken ships," I muttered. James and I had reached the door to the command post. The tapestry slid aside and we stepped through the doorway.
"James," we heard Veronica ring out as we entered. "What do we do?"
"First," James replied. "Captain Gates, was another Confederacy ship in the Wolf system with you?"
"Several," she replied. "Our current tactics are to try to blockade the system. I couldn't tell you which ships were there though. We work independently. Right now, the Sa'arm don't have any capital ships in the system, so we can spread out to catch more of their transports."
"Veronica?" James called out. "Do we have any idea who the two new ships are?"
"Nothing so far," was the reply. Veronica sounded a bit harried, but took a breath and continued. "The ship coming from Ursus has emerged, but I'm getting nothing. The second ship from Wolf hasn't emerged yet."
"Louis! Xavier! We're going to need you in the command post," James shouted. "Ed, get to the medical bay. Brad, you are on transporter duty."
Ulla sighed. "James, can you get the twins in here? The damage to the ships is extensive, and I'm not as good as they are."
"Citizens Tamara and Tiffany have been alerted and are on their way," the AI informed us.
Tina noticed us and ran over to give James a hug. "What was up with the major?" she asked.
"I have no idea," James admitted. "And right now we have a job to do."
"The second ship from Wolf is emerging!" Ulla screamed out.
Everyone was silent for a moment and then Veronica almost jumped from her chair. "Get me Maggie! We need a tug now! And get someone who can run a teleport pod! Ulla, can you get an IFF on the ship?"
"No chance! I don't have a close scan, but the main communications array is gone, and I can see three huge holes in the secondary one," Ulla replied. "Oh god! James, the ship's right railgun just overloaded."
Tamara and Tiffany ran into the room. Tiffany threw her body into an empty chair and started slapping at the controls. I thought she was out of control, but the displays responded to her rapid movements. "Does Cancun have a better scan on the new ship?" she asked. "They came in much further out, but they are closer than my nearest satellite."
Tamara had taken a seat next to Veronica. I noticed she had put an earpiece over her left ear. "Captain Gates? Did you hear the question?"
"I did," we heard Captain Gates reply. "And my tracking officer is shaking his head. We probably can't see much more than you."
Tiffany nodded. "Ah, I think it's Pebble Beach. At least the remnants of the engine signature match what we recorded during the ship's last visit."
"I've finally got a signal from the ship from Ursus, it's Cabo San Lucas," Ulla called out. "Veronica, can you get anything from Captain Dawn Travis? I'm seeing considerable damage to the left side engine."
"James," Major Bonham called out over the speakers. "I need to send a couple of marines to guard the command post. It's standard procedure."
"We don't have time for that!" James snapped. "And it's not like you haven't already got a guard at the closest thing there is to an entrance."
Brittany and Kitty relaxed slightly once James had disappeared from the viewscreen. Kitty looked a bit frustrated. "I want to help him, but I can't move fast right now," she moaned as she put a hand on her very pregnant belly. "I felt the same the last weeks before giving birth," I admitted. "James understands." Kitty nodded sadly as she claimed an empty chair and sat down. She quickly rolled the chair next to mine and threw her arms around me as I continued to watch the viewscreen...
James waved at the ceiling. "End this call," he muttered. "The communication has ended," the AI replied. "Please note that Major Bonham is looking for ways to conduct surveillance of this side of the colony. Do you wish to block his attempts?" "I should," James replied with a snarl. "But if he only sees rooms and not the hallways it shouldn't matter too much. Just make sure he doesn't find out about our little hold out tunnel. I'm beginning to fear we might have to use it...
Once we passed through the airlock, Tyson put his arms around Cleo and pulled her to him. "Run along, girls," he said. "I think it's time I got this lovely lady pregnant again." Mickey and I giggled and then ran off down the hallway. Behind us, we could hear Cleo's cheerful squeal as she twisted around to kiss Tyson. "She sounds happy with the idea," Mickey said as we make our way through the passages. "I think she is truly happy about it," I replied quietly. "Tyson loves his...
"Go ahead," I said, putting my left hand up next to my ear. "Meiko," Maggie's voice said. "We have a teleport unit near Morrigan, but we are going to have a problem. The gunner is barely conscious and won't be able to get out of the pod without help." "Can someone from Morrigan do it?" I asked. "No," Maggie said. "I already asked. The grid is charged so anyone setting foot on it would be killed." I considered the situation. "We've done that kind of teleport before, but...
From 'The Autobiography of Miss Louisa Harper' ~ "The summer of 1890 was to be the start of my new life. At fifteen years of age, I was to be presented to society and I had expected that I would then be considered an adult. That, at long last, I would have a say in my own life, my own destiny. That was not to be, though. I was still just a doll to be dressed and used as decoration in the home of my powerful parents. I was made up and dressed and used to impress the visitors who came...

It was the year 2001. 15-year-old Newt looked at himself in the mirror. He could see some of his mother Laverne’s African American features looking back, but also blue eyes and a lighter skin tone that must have come from his unknown father. He growled, angry. Why didn’t his mom ever tell him who his father was? Her insistence that she didn’t know didn’t make any sense! She said that Newt didn’t look like who she thought his father was, and she hadn’t been with any blue-eyed white boys. His...
From 'The Autobiography of Miss Louisa Harper' ~ "Langdon Beech-Thorndyke III was 'a catch.' Mother and Father thought that he would be a perfect match for me. He was twenty three and I was fifteen. My parents hoped that we would become betrothed that summer and then a grandiose wedding would follow in three years after I turned eighteen. This was my sister's summer, though. Miranda would be married in August to a Vanderbilt cousin who she barely knew. The opulent affair...
In the command post, everyone continued their frantic work to help save the ships and their crews. I could hear Ulla and Tiffany talking with Captain Travis and Captain Gates. Ulla was a bit confused at one point, but Tiffany's quiet confidence kept her at her post. James had finally dragged Janice and me over to a padded chair. He flopped into the chair and I quickly pushed Janice into his lap. My sister concubine quietly held on to our master. I was looking around for another chair when...
My master appeared to shake himself awake. "Damn, we don't need more trouble here. Michelle try to contact Borneo, we need to see if Admiral Himmel knows anything about this Chief Scientist." "Is that even a rank?" Tiffany asked. "Who knows," Yvette responded while massaging her temples. "But from the attitude on that man, he believes it means quite a bit." Janice looked around. "Are these alien artifacts really that important." I heard a snort. I turned to see where it came...
Six months later, Fire Bringer had wandered down into West Texas. This was not from any particular plan, rather, it was simply the result of random movement as he practiced his skills and helped people he saw in trouble. One day, he was using his Far Seeing ability to scan the road ahead for trouble when he saw 4 wagons under attack by Comanches. Closer examination showed that these wagons were hauling freight and were pulled by teams of oxen. The teamsters had enough time to form up into a...
From 'The Autobiography of Miss Louisa Harper' ~ "Beauty comes from pain, Louisa. A proper young woman does not present herself unless she is properly coiffed, properly made-up, properly attired and wearing the proper accoutrements. That, Louisa, is what 'proper' means." Of course, I tried to argue. That is, after all, what an adolescent is supposed to do, but my mother would just purse her lips, shake her head in disgust and repeat that one sentence that she spoke most frequently...
From 'The Autobiography of Miss Louisa Harper of New York and Newport' ~ "The day of Miranda's wedding was cloudy and overcast, so perhaps Aunt Ada had been correct. Perhaps God would not waste a beautiful day on a wedding that would lead to a loveless marriage. Instead of using the vast tents that had been erected on the lawns at Golden Bluffs, everything was moved into our grand ballroom, which was large, but could not accommodate everyone who'd been invited. So, tables were also...
The accident had happened near the ranch owned by the elderly couple, so the woman rode in the back of the wagon while Fire Bringer drove it. The woman had been distracted by her concern for her husband, so she did not see what Fire Bringer did to replace the broken wheel. He made extensive use of TK to do the repair, and the job was completed in only a few minutes. There was not much that the medicine of the time could do for the man, so Fire Bringer did not use any of his skills to get to...
From 'The Autobiography of Miss Louisa Harper' ~ "The week prior to Miranda's wedding was a hectic and crowded one at Golden Bluffs. All of our relations came to Newport for the event and many of them stayed with us. Unfortunately, we also had many friends and business associates staying as well, which did lead to some difficult choices. Father was a self-made man who had family he wanted in attendance, but they were from a lower rung of society. So, since the rooms were assigned to...
Once he was out of sight of the house, Fire Bringer ducked into a secluded alcove and TPed back to Texas to pick up his horse and continue his journey. Fire Bringer had found that he could stow live beings in his storage place and return them without harm, so that was where he often kept his horse. He said to Storm Who Walks, "That was an interesting trip. I had forgotten how loving a family could be. My father was no prize, but he did act as if he loved me, and I know that my mother did...
Kennedy trailed her oars in the water. Behind her Marian was still breathing hard after their latest run. "That was nice," Marian said, catching her breath. "It was," Kennedy agreed. They'd worked out signals so that Marian could be ready when Kennedy changed pace. The coaches were still having cat fits about Marian not matching Kennedy stroke for stroke, but the "slow it down" admonishment was never going to fly as good coaching advice. "Kennedy," Marian started to say. Kennedy...
Clearing up the sex slavery in the whore houses along the USA/Mexico border was a bigger task than Fire Bringer had realized when he started the job. It took about a year to rescue the women and girls and to track down and eliminate all of the criminals involved. When he finished, he had 22 women and 13 girls that their families didn't want and had no place to go. It's amazing how stupid and cruel people can be, even to members of their own family. Oh, well, Fire Bringer realized that it...
The man who appeared to be the doorman turned out to be the manager of the establishment. He was startled by the question, since the subject had never come up before. "Well, I ... Uh ... I suppose that the total will be $50, since there are 5 girls." "OK, here's two double-eagles, since you already got $10 from me. Now, show me where I can get comfortable with these delectable young ladies." "Yes, Senor, please follow me." The man led Fire Bringer and the 5 girls to a room with a...
December roared like a lion, and I would be glad to see the back of this year, 1782. The death of my father had hit the family hard, our livelihood threatened by squabbling over his will. My mother had taken to her bed, and I had been recalled from tuition at my aunt’s house upon the East Coast to reunite with my mother and my six sisters for the festive season. The carriage seemed to locate every dip and divot on the road, such as my tender frame would be bruised and fragile for weeks to come....
SupernaturalOnce the funeral was out of the way, life at the Flying M Ranch settled into a comfortable routine. Fire Bringer spent a couple of hours each day taking care of ranch business. It was amazing how easy this was when one had the powers he did. He wanted to switch them from depending on longhorns to a more profitable breed of cattle, such as White Faced. To do this, he would have to locate several bulls, so he spent some time with his Far Seeing skill looking for a source where he could purchase...

"The storage place is ready for you to try it out," Storm Who Walks announced with some glee. It was almost as if it had been his idea, the way he was so anxious for Fire Bringer to try it out. "All you have to do is think of the item moving to storage, and it will do so. All you have to do to retrieve an item is to think of it being removed from storage. Try it out with one of your rocks." Fire Bringer imagined a rock he had been working on moving into the storage place. He was not sure...
Bethany walked forward once Brad had left the room. I was puzzled by her action until she reached down to pick up something. It took just a moment for me to recognize that it was the uniform Captain Gates had been wearing when she first arrived. "We definitely should return that to her soon," I said. Bethany nodded, but made no move to exit the transporter room. Instead, she walked over to stand next to me at the control panel. I turned to ask her a question as the speakers started to...
Fire Bringer and Shadow spent much of their time putting a stop to the stupid actions of both races in making trouble. They weren't always successful in keeping people from getting killed, but they did the best they could. One problem they had was with the Indians and the impenetrable wall of frozen air. On several occasions, they protected Indians from White bullets with such a wall, and the Indians got the idea that it was the clothes they wore which stopped the bullets. Much later on,...
Two men waited on the small ridge ahead of the traveler. Once they knew they had been spotted they slowly climbed down from their striders and moved to take several bundles from the pack strider they had with them. Slowly advancing they also motioned for the female to dismount. Spreading a large tanned hide on the ground they then placed on it several small bundles before opening the cloth to show what was inside. Fresh fruits and vegetables such as were not normally seen in this arid region....
Well, maybe "hurt" wasn't the right word. There was no penetration, but his hand continued to sting for some time from the bullet's impact. "Storm Who Walks, why does my hand hurt so bad, even though the bullet did not penetrate the shield?" "I was just told that what you feel is the residual energy from the bullet. The energy had to go somewhere when your shield stopped the bullet, and it showed up mostly as heat, which you are still feeling. Pour some cool water over your hand, and...
Even though Fire Bringer and Shadow had subdued the major hate groups, they were unable to do much to control the actions of individuals. Negroes were still casually persecuted by many people who didn't even realize what they were doing. Often, what they did was simply a case of unconscious habit—they were treating Negroes the same way they had done when these people were slaves, and skin color overrode everything else. It was a damned stupid way to act, but all people are like that. The...
Jorge rang the bell at eleven-thirty on the dot. Sharon let him hand her into the limo and settled back to shake as the car moved smoothly through the traffic. What was Armand up to? Nora seemed to think he had some master plan -- no doubt with some reason, although she apparently wasn't at liberty to share... Sharon had NO idea, but things had been escalating steadily since the previous weekend, so there was no telling... Nora's introduction to sex had somehow upset the equilibrium they...
Twin troubles CBA [The present] 'Arg that's so uncomfortable!' Jayson thought as he once again had the desire to pick the thong out of his ass again. He just wasn't used to it anymore, it had been years since he had worn women's clothing for an entire day. But then he saw the woman he was waiting for, the undeclared love of his life Cindy MacLean. He waved when they made eye contact and a smiling Cindy waved back and started making her way towards him. "Hey, Jayson you look...
It started out with some late night visits from an older man. Being so young and inexperienced, his unexpected touch brought very unexpected, dizzying feelings. He could make me, there in the silence and darkness, tremble and quake with explosive orgasms. I began to crave his visits, his touch, his mouth. I could have never of guessed how good it could feel and soon was introduced to the erotic thrill and pleasure that sucking cock could bring, also. How good it could feel, how lusty it was to...
We made many trips to the adult theaters in the Denver area where Cheryl spent many hours entertaining the various males there. She would always wear a slutty outfit so the guys knew she was there to suck and fuck as much cock as she wanted. On several occasions I took her to the adult theater during the day, dropping her off and picking her back up an hour or so later. The guys there during the day were a different crowd, not in a bad way, just a different set of men who normally did not visit...

But one lady by the name Uma Mageswari a brahmin who works in a export firm at a Industrial estate near Poonamallee who is about 34 years old and who has 2 children was a very easy target for me. IncestFire Bringer spent most of the winter of 1871-72 at the Flying M Ranch, and as much of that time as possible in the company of Maria. Juanita was not surprised, in fact she was expecting it, when the two started talking of making their attachment permanent. They were both 16 years old, or so close that it made no difference, and this was considered marriageable age for both male and female, provided they could afford it. Money was certainly no problem, so Juanita just let nature take its...
I glanced over at her for the fiftieth time. Two rows ahead of me, two machines to the left. I quickly forced myself to look back at the row of TVs hanging from the ceiling, not wanting her to catch me looking at her again. Not that she had any idea I was even alive, mind you, maybe I was more afraid of being embarrassed by someone else catching me ogling the ultra-fit redhead with the ponytail effortless gliding away on the elliptical machine. So instead I kept sneaking peeks every 30 seconds....
The next morning James woke us up for the final time. Madoka had fussed during the night when she was hungry, but each time I managed to fall back to sleep. Beside me, I could hear Kitty and Brittany complain mildly about the movement. James, however, would not be denied. "Sorry my loves, but the AI just said that Bethany is awake, and I thought I'd collect her. Janice, I'm sorry I couldn't come and collect you when you woke," he said as he left the room at a near run. "Hey, I woke up...
The brief baby boom ended eight days later and the population of our colony had increased by forty-eight children. Every one of the original thirty-seven female concubines gave birth although only Madison, one of Linus Van Stern's concubines, gave birth to twins. She was thrilled to have her third and fourth children and was soon offering to set up a day care and baby-raising clinic for any concubines needing a break. Her master simply glowed that he now had two sons and a new daughter to go...
Whitney was still hugging Tamara when a man entered the command post from the teleport room's passageway. "Hey! It's the unattached slut! Are you giving it out now! You refused me on the ship! You're unattached and can't do that!" The man reached out to grab Whitney. His hand had barely touched her when James burst from his chair and in a flying tackle slammed the man against the wall of the room. "Tamara, get her out of here. Xavier! Get me whoever is in charge of the Tintagel...
Tina and I made our way to the doorway and headed out. It was clear that the conversation had turned to technical matters regarding the repairs and James would be tied up for some time. He waved as we left but was quickly pulled back to one of the panels to start reviewing the damage and suggested repairs to Tintagel Castle. In the hallway we found Alexis walking with a couple of the concubines from Tintagel. Both were wearing splints and bandages obviously created by tearing up a shift. She...
The next week it seemed I spent much of my time finding excuses to hide in the household pod or the Concubine's refuge. James had locked William in an otherwise unused habitat pod near the original command center, but the crew of Tintagel Castle proved to include nine more men who refused to keep their hands to themselves. Most of the concubines figured that out the first night when these men spent much of the welcome party drunkenly calling for Lindsay, Bonnie and Cleo to perform lap...
Life settled down again once Tintagel Castle left for home. As expected, Brent's retest scored him as a five nine and James quickly ordered him thrown in a recycler. After that, the citizens appeared to be concentrating on the slow expansion of the colony and setting up the new living area for visiting crews. The musical practice was now all about perfecting the dances and singing. As we could all see it coming together there was a contagious enthusiasm creeping into the concubines. Anytime...
Just then the AI started to sound an alert. "We have ship entry jump points forming." "One or two," James shouted as he stood up, carefully lifting me up and setting me down as he did. "Three," the AI stated. "One is along the vector leading to Borneo. The other two ships jumped from within Sa'arm controlled space." My master barely paused. "Tyson, Linus, to the gun controls. I'll take laser one, gunners, get to the laser chambers and suit up. Tam, Tif, get to the command center...
James shook his head and looked up. "Terrence, start bringing all the injured from Freya over. Coordinate with their staff and bring the hurt ones over when gurneys are available. Let's get them medical attention quickly." "We're already on it," Donna said. "David, Elle and Robert are standing by with gurneys. Lindsay and Ed have headed to our multi-use room and are going to set up to treat the non-critical cases there. Craig and Tom are setting things up there." "Maggie has the...
"Bit of a walk isn't it?" Tanya said with a smile. "It's outside the citizen zone," I admitted. "But you had wounded so we teleported you in at our command post. I'm not sure we have a teleport near here yet. This is new." "Will all my crew be here?" Tanya asked. "Probably not," I said. "The walking wounded you had were directed to one of the rooms we have near our medical center. If there are free pods they'll rotate the people through." Tanya nodded. "On that note, how...
Bethany had my daughter on a changing table when I walked in. She smiled at me. "Don't worry, I don't mind changing babies. Especially when it's the child of my sister." She lifted Madoka up and carried her over to me. With a gentle touch she laid Madoka in my arms. I looked down at the child I had brought into the world. She was now just over two months old and still spent the majority of her time sleeping, but right then she was awake and reached out her tiny hands to grab at my...
The departure of Freya brought peace to Ishtar. Janice continued to lead rehearsals of the musical. We now had a complete show that lasted just over seventy minutes. It was almost ready, and we were becoming increasingly worried that the secret would be revealed. Janice insisted that conversations about our work be kept to the Concubine's Refuge to prevent accidentally revealing our plans. The citizens seemed rather distracted though. James and Yvette seemed to spend hours in the command...
For the next three days, the colony was bustling with activity. Under the direction of Marina, who proved to have been a hotel maid back on Earth before becoming Shawna's concubine, thirty pods were organized, cleaned and prepared for occupation. Most were set up so they had multiple dwellings each set up like a hotel suite with a central meeting and relaxation room and two separate sleeping areas. Others were organized more like barracks with enough beds to handle one of the squads the vice...
Nightmares caused Janice to toss and turn most of the night. I held her close and tried to kiss the dreams away, but her mumbled words made it clear she was worried about the musical. During the first part of the night she woke me four times, before finally settling down sometime during Devil hour. After the dreams faded she was sleeping so peacefully that when Joy woke up hungry early in the morning I fed her myself rather than wake my friend. I ended up having to go downstairs to wake...
Madoka was hungry. Once I offered her a meal, she drank it down. Afterwards she fidgeted for only a moment before closing her eyes again. I was not completely surprised, as she had been awake for the last hour as I memorized the seating chart. Once she was slumbering in one of the cribs set up in the backstage nursery, I hurried back to the theater, prepared to lead the citizens to their seats. Janice met me at the curtain. She seemed a bit distracted, but held up a hand for me to pause. I...
James was bringing Tina's lips to his when a voice I did not recognize started shouting. "Oh God! Oh God! James! James! We have a visitor! We have a visitor!" James paused and looked over at Bethany. She mouthed a name and he nodded. "Give me a report," he called out. "We have a jump point opening," the voice cried nervously. "The instruments say it's on a direct line with the Ursus system. One of the notes said that the last ship to arrive from that system was Nassau." James set...
I slowly climbed back to consciousness. Fog seemed to cloud my head, clearing briefly as a loud hiss broke through my muddled thoughts. I tried to sit up, but a firm hand on my left shoulder kept me lying flat. "Don't move yet," Shawna's voice instructed me. "Open your eyes and look at me." Bright almost blinding light caused me to gasp, but I held them open and turned my head towards the voice. Shawna stood next to me. My position put me about her waist level. Glancing down I could...
James looked over at Janice and me. "Are you sure you can perform?" he asked. Janice giggled. "Why wouldn't we be able to perform? It should be easier the second time. We won't have as many first performance jitters." "And we won't worry about disappointing you," I whispered. "I missed so many notes while I was playing." Janice looked at me. "I thought the orchestra was struggling a bit. What was going on?" I shrugged. "Rather than using the sheet music, the AI was...
The next morning I woke slowly. Arms were draped over my body, pressing me into the mattress. Raising my head, I found that Kitty was snuggled in tight to my right side while Bethany was on my left side. My motion caused Kitty to shift in her sleep and I was able to crawl out of the intertwined limbs. The door to the bedroom was open and I could hear a baby stirring in our living room. Taking soft steps to avoid waking my family, I eased my way to the door. In the living room, I found all...
After we finished feeding our children, Mickey, Cleo and I took them back to the cribs before we each grabbed some lunch. During our meal we talked a bit about the music we were playing. "I knew music like this existed, but this is more fun than I ever imagined," Mickey said. "And last night was ... wow! I could feel the way the audience reacted." Cleo nodded. "It is powerful. We need to be feeding that by playing our best." I blew out a raspberry. "More practice." The others...
Mickey, Cleo and I were the last three to leave the theater. We exited the airlock to find our sister concubines waiting. I found myself showered with hugs and kisses. "That was so much fun!" Tina squealed. "We have to do that again." "It was definitely fun," Bethany said calmly. "And there is no question that James and the others liked watching it." "Totally" Kitty said. "You realize that every citizen snuck in to watch it a second time." "Every one?" I asked. "Who was in...
I left the teleport room and headed back to the command post. When I reached the doors we once used to keep Ruth and Manuel away from our homes, they were shut tight. Each set remained closed until I was no more than ten yards away and then opened, allowing me into the colony. Once I passed the third door, I ran to the command post. The tapestry had moved to conceal the door, and I had to lift it away from the wall in order to enter. Inside I found that Candi and Randi had relieved my...
"You need to get that fire out!" I heard Timothy shout. "It's too close to your missile magazine." "The magazine is empty!" a female voice called back. "We shot everything during our breakout from Ursus!" "I'm not worried about an explosion," Timothy called back. "The smoke from that fire will be poisonous if it reaches the loading tubes. Those tubes contain heavy metals that you really don't want to breathe." "Everyone here is in suits!" the voice cried back. "We...
