October 16, 1982, West Monroe, Ohio

After my talk with Mom, I went to find Liz, and invited her to sit on the floor of my room to talk. We sat side-by-side, leaning against the bed.

“Why in here and not in the basement?”

I felt it was my duty to warn Liz, as my sister, of the way voices carried through the heating ducts. Mom had told me, in confidence, but I couldn’t in good conscience keep that vital piece of information from Liz.

“Because voices carry through the heating ducts,” I replied quietly.

“What?! Shit?! Mom spies on us?”

“Me, anyway. You mostly hang out in your room with your friends.”

“What a bitch!” she spat.

“Liz, let it go, OK? I told you so you knew. Please do NOT make an issue of it. It would really wreck my relationship with Mom. But I couldn’t let you take risks, given what I know from your trip to McKinley.”

“You aren’t going to rat me out?”

“No. You have to make your own decisions. I don’t agree with you, but it’s not my life to live. It’s yours. And even if you do get in contact with Paul, I know you can’t even go see him until you’re eighteen, if even then.”

“I wrote him. I sent it from Emmy’s cousin’s address. You know, the apartment in Rutherford where you and Emmy...”

“I’m not surprised she told you about that.”

“She wanted to tell me the details, but I told her I’d throw up all over her if she did!”

“Yeah, I don’t think I want to hear any details of your sex life, either!”

“Did you know Emmy called Clark?”

“Emmy is playing with fire,” I sighed. “If her dad ever finds out, it’ll be the end of the world for those two, and we’d be well within the blast radius, if not outright targets.”

“You know why she’s doing it, right?”

“I can guess. She’s angry with her dad about not being able to officially hang out with you or even be friends with you. So she’s going to get her revenge, if you will, by sleeping with Clark.”

“Yes.”

“You should do your best to talk her out of that,” I said. “Mr. Nelson will kill them. And I’m not exaggerating or engaging in hyperbole. He WILL kill them.”

“I know,” Liz sighed. “But Emmy is dead set on having sex with Clark.”

“To what end? If she tells her dad, he’ll kill them. If she doesn’t, what’s the point?”

“That she knows she did it.”

“I guess. I think I’ll have a talk with Clark, but I can see him thinking he’s sticking it to Mr. Nelson by sticking it IN Emmy.”

Liz laughed, “Too funny, Mikey.”

“How’s school going?”

Liz shrugged, “It’s school. I’m getting mostly B’s but nothing below a B. Mom is happy, which means I get a bit of freedom.”

“And you’re not dating?”

“I love Paul, Mikey. He’s a man. I don’t want a boy.”

“And you’re sure he wants you?”

Liz nodded slowly, “He told me he loved me, and I believed him. I think he still does. I know you have a serious problem with it because he was cheating on his wife, and even more because they had a baby, but he doesn’t love her.”

“You know guys lie about stuff like that, right? To get girls into bed?”

“He wasn’t lying. And I don’t think you lie to get that, Mikey.”

Only to myself, I thought. But that was a problem for a different day and for a conversation with a different person.

“You know Mom and Dad will completely freak out, right? And that the prison reads all the mail?”

“I used a pet name he called me and didn’t write anything about having sex or whatever. And it was sent from Rutherford, like I said.”

“It’s dangerous. But I’ve said my piece and I’ll let it go. Well, that’s not true. If I think you’re in danger, I’m going to act on it, just as I did the first time.”

Liz smiled, “You’re my Big Brother, and I love you, even if I don’t always agree with what you do. I know you love me, too.”

“I do.”

“So why come home this weekend? You just saw Tasha and me and Emmy.”

“Don’t forget Sasha!” I chuckled.

Liz laughed, “She has a ridiculous crush on you, but she also knows that the police would never find her body if she did anything about it!”

I chuckled, “Hell hath no fury...”

“You and your Russian women!” Liz teased.

“That’s actually why I’m home. I wanted to talk to Mom because Katy basically asked me to marry her. If I do, she’ll go to Ohio State. If not, she’ll go to Stanford.”

“What?!”

“Well, she suggested we move in together when she graduates and that her parents would help cover our expenses. I pointed out that the only difference between that and marriage was the piece of paper.”

“And what was your answer?”

“That I’d have to think about it. She wasn’t upset by that, in case you’re wondering.”

“Have you completely lost your mind?”

“Funny, I could ask YOU the same question!”

“Well, yeah. But come on Mike! Marriage? Now? Jesus, if you want to get laid so bad, I’ll go get Mindy! She’ll make you VERY happy and keep you from doing anything stupid!”

I chuckled, “I have that covered.”

“Katy?”

“I can’t answer that question, Liz. And don’t read anything into my not answering, please. Some stuff shouldn’t be talked about. And I think being with Mindy would be foolish; stupid, even.”

“You really are a dork, Mikey!” Liz laughed. “Turning down a sixteen-year-old virgin with nice, big tits who wants you to fuck her into the next century?”

“Who happens to be your friend. Not to mention she’s in High School. And before you object about Katy and Tasha, they are different.”

“Because some old lady at church set you up with them?”

“You know how I felt about Tasha even before that happened.”

“As I said, a dork, Mikey! All you had to do was talk to her! But no, you were so afraid of your own shadow, you wouldn’t even say ‘hello’ to her at church! What did Mom tell you to do?”

“Mom pretty much never told me to do anything,” I said. “She asked questions that helped me make up my own mind.”

“Lucky. That’s ALL she does now. Tell me what to do. Where to go. Who to be with.”

“Is THAT why you’re trying to get in touch with Paul?”

“No. I really do love him, Mike. I want to be with him, and not just for sex.”

“Mom and Dad will completely flip out,” I said.

“I don’t care. You’ll love me no matter what.”

“So will they, even if they’re unhappy with your choices.”

Liz shook her head, “If I go with Paul, they’ll refuse to have anything to do with me.”

“I think you underestimate how much they love you. They WILL have a problem with Paul, obviously, but they’ll still love you.”

“You’re cute when you engage in wishful thinking, Mikey. I wouldn’t be welcome here. But forget that. Do you want my advice?”

“I’ll listen, but obviously I have to make up my own mind.”

“Duh! I swear, sometimes you treat me like I’m two!”

“Sorry.”

“Let Katy go to Stanford. If she IS the right one, then when she graduates she comes back and you two live happily ever after.”

“That’s risky.”

“Yeah? You’re going to have to take that risk with Tasha, too, Mikey. I don’t see you marrying the day after graduation. And if you don’t, she’ll have to consider her options.”

“Can I ask why you’re saying this?”

“Promise not to get angry?”

“I promise to not lash out at you. I can’t promise not to be upset.”

“Angie is who you should marry. Once she gets past whatever stupid mental block she has, you’ll have a perfect wife. She’s already doing that! The only thing that needs to change is her deciding she wants to sleep with you.”

“Which is a pretty big thing, Liz.”

“OK, but tell me I’m wrong. You guys go to church together, pray together, run together, go to karate together, and act as if you’re married, minus sex.”

“You aren’t wrong. The dorm agrees, by the way. They call her ‘Mrs. Loucks’ behind her back.

“No shit, Mikey! You know it, too. And you have a fallback, really.”

“Oh?”

“Let’s say you get to your graduation and Angie still hasn’t given it up; Tasha will still be there. She’ll only be twenty, and I can’t imagine her giving up on you in less than a year or so. Well, unless you tell her ‘no’ and make it your final answer.”

“You really believe that?”

“I saw how Angie acted here, and how she acted when I was in McKinley. One day, she’s going to decide that Michael Loucks should get her cherry, and that’ll be the end of it.”

“You seem pretty sure.”

Liz nodded, “The only thing I think could mess that up would be you being a complete idiot and asking Jocelyn to marry you because you’re on some sort of stupid guilt trip about her.”

“I do have some responsibility for what happened.”

“For what? Her practically dragging you to Cincinnati to take each other’s virginity? Something you wanted from the time you were fourteen? For her deciding to go to Purdue and then changing her mind? For her having her accident? Those things aren’t your fault, Mikey. I may think the counselors were mostly idiots, but one of them did explain responsibility really well.”

“Which one?”

“Doctor Paulus. I’ve actually talked to her a bunch of times. Mom said you thought she was awesome.”

“I liked Doctor Mercer from Milford better, but yes, Doctor Paulus was very helpful. And Jocelyn isn’t even talking to me right now.”

“Which I suspect is driving you just crazy enough to try something desperate.”

“I won’t do that,” I said. “And what makes you think she’ll say ‘yes’?”

Liz laughed, “Boys can be SO clueless at times. What do you think she wants? Why is she pushing you away?”

“I can’t see Jocelyn doing that!” I protested. “Not to me!”

“She was desperate enough to try to kill herself. Trust me, I know about that kind of desperation. Alcohol. Drugs. Unprotected sex. None of it worked. If you and Mom and Dad hadn’t sent me to Columbus, I probably would have killed myself, either intentionally or unintentionally. And despite that stupid bitch of a doctor insisting you and I had sex, going there was the only thing that saved my life.”

“That’s a very different attitude from last year.”

“Good counselors help. I know you’re still seeing yours. Mom mentioned it to encourage me to keep talking to Doctor Paulus.”

“Have you told Doctor Paulus about Paul?”

“She knows how I feel, but I didn’t tell her about writing him.”

“And what has she said?”

“Basically the same things you have. Everyone thinks he manipulated and abused me. He didn’t. I wanted to be with him. I want to be with him. He treated me well and loved me. And the sex was out of this world!”

“Too much information!” I protested.

“Oh, please!” Liz said, laughing softly. “It’s not like I’m describing what we did! And I was the one who asked him to make love to me!”

“You really think I should tell Katy ‘no’?”

“No, you should tell her ‘not yet’; well, unless you’re sure she’s not the right girl.”

“You seem sure.”

“But it’s not up to me, is it?”

“No.”

“What are you doing for the rest of the weekend?”

“I’m going to Vespers then I have a date with Tasha, then Matins and Liturgy in the morning, and I’ll head back to McKinley after I take Tasha to lunch. Why?”

“Mindy will be here in about an hour. Mom suggested I tell you, so you could hide!”

I laughed, “I think I’ll go find something to do.”

“Mom and Dad are going out this afternoon...” Liz smirked.

“No!” I said, insistently. “I know your take on it, in addition to my own opinion.”

“If she’s so determined to give it up, and she is, I think I’d rather it be you than some idiot jock, even if the very idea turns my stomach!”

“Gee, thanks, Lizard Breath! But I’ll pass, and for good reasons.”

“Can I have a hug before you go?”

We stood and I pulled Liz into my arms and held her for a couple of minutes, then kissed the top of her head and released her. She left my room and I went downstairs to let Mom know I was going to be out for the day.

“Liz told you Mindy is coming over?”

“And that you’re going out. I mean, I could stay...”

“And do what, Mike?” Mom asked with an arched eyebrow.

“Why, what comes naturally when a male of the species encounters a willing female of the species!”

“And one of the key differentiators between homo sapiens and the rest of the animal kingdom is the ability NOT to act like a male dog when the females are in heat!”

“I’d suggest that’s not as much a differentiator as you think it is!” I chuckled.

“I said ‘ability’, Mike, not that they actually did!”

“But Mom, shouldn’t we honor reasonable requests? Isn’t it just polite?”

“You’re becoming just as much of a Smart Aleck as I was, much to your grandfather’s disgust and your grandmother’s amusement!”

“I would have thought the other way around!”

“Had I been Isaak Mikhailovich instead of Rahil Mikhailovna, yes!”

“A double standard?”

“Of course! Your grandfather always treated you like ‘one of the boys’. I was supposed to be ‘prim and proper’, which is what he expects of Liz. Just as Deacon Vasily expects of Tasha. I suspect Tasha’s mom is a bit more tolerant.”

“A bit,” I grinned.

“So, what are you going to do, Mikhail Petrovich?” Mom asked with a smirk.

“Let’s see. I think I’ll go run a few errands, wait until you and Dad leave, then come back and take Mindy up on her offer. Then leave for Vespers before you return home!”

“And how many times did you do something like that growing up? Hmm?”

“Never,” I laughed. “You know I’m teasing because YOU are teasing ME.” I paused for effect, then added, “Or are you?”

I held a straight face for a few seconds before we both started laughing.

“Go on, get out of here!” Mom said through her laughter.

I hugged her, grabbed my windbreaker, and headed out to my car. I didn’t really have anything to do, and despite all the teasing, I wasn’t going to be anywhere near Miss Mindy Ellison, despite her curvy figure and lovely breasts ... not to mention other very interesting parts! I pushed the image of Mindy’s wonderful breasts bouncing as she rode me out of my mind and headed for the hardware store to say hello to Mr. Orlov.

About halfway there, I remembered that Janey might be working. I wasn’t sure if she’d been hired, but it wouldn’t surprise me, because Mr. Orlov liked to hire kids from church whenever he could. I wasn’t thrilled with the idea of running into her, though having teased so much about Mindy, my mind immediately went to the reason Janey and I had our fight. A reason which no longer existed.

I laughed out loud at how my thinking had shifted over the previous eighteen months — from agonizing over having sex to having what amounted to ‘comfort sex’ when I ‘cuddled’ with Sophia to ‘stress-relief sex’ when Sandy and I screwed, occasionally loving and gentle, but mostly trying to wear each other out. And despite the recurring thoughts of Mindy’s fantastic breasts, I knew doing it with her was a bad idea all around.

I pulled into the lot at the hardware store and parked in the ‘employee’ area, since I didn’t mind walking a bit further to the door and wasn’t planning on carrying anything back out to my car. I went inside and walked towards the back, greeting a couple of people I knew, both customers and employees.

“Hello, Mikhail Petrovich!” Mr. Orlov called out when he saw me.

“Hi, Mr. Orlov!”

“How are you?”

“Good. I just thought I’d stop in and say hello. How are things going?”

“Business is good, and my wife and I are healthy, as are our children and grandchildren. That means I have nothing to complain about. How is school?”

“All A’s, and I have some very good friends there.”

“Excellent. I assume you came home to see Natalya Vasilyevna?”

“And to talk to my mom, yes.”

“A good woman, Rahil Mikhailovna! And your father is a good man, too, Mischa.”

I nodded, “Yes.”

“Would you like forty hours between Christmas and New Year’s? Sergei will be in Florida with his family, so you could have his shift from 10:00am to 6:30pm.”

“Sold!” I said quickly.

“Finances are OK?” he asked quietly.

“Yes. But I take every chance I can to build my reserves.”

“A wise move, Mischa. I will put you on the schedule for that week. Thank you!”

“You’re welcome. I’m very glad I stopped in!”

“As am I. Will we see you at church tonight?”

I smiled, “Of course. I go every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday in McKinley. And church is where Tasha is going to be!”

He laughed, “A faithful AND wise young man! Now, I must get back to work.”

We shook hands and I left the office and headed for the doors, trying to decide what to do for the rest of the afternoon. As I pushed the door open, I heard my name called. I turned to see Janey wearing the usual red smock of an employee. I stopped and turned and walked back to where she was cutting a key for someone. I waited until she finished.

Good Medicine Sophomore YearChapter 55 The Publican or the Pharisee

February 27, 1983, McKinley, Ohio “Father, Angie had to withdraw from school for health reasons, and she’s gone home to Cincinnati.” “Lord have mercy! I didn’t realize she was ill! Do you have her home number?” I nodded and handed him a piece of paper, “You might want to speak to her mom first.” He nodded, “I’ll do that. She’s aware of Angela’s intention to be chrismated?” “Yes. They helped her find a church in Loveland to attend last Summer when she was home. They’re supportive, but...

Good Medicine Sophomore YearChapter 21 A Good Talk With Mom

October 8, 1982, Circleville, Ohio “I want to, yes, of course; but we reset things for good reasons. Why the change?” Katy got up from the couch and sat back down in my lap, draping her arms over my shoulders. “I wanted to from the minute I saw you naked. I’ve dreamed about what it would be like.” “I felt the same way when I saw you naked,” I said. “Well, even before, when you first let me touch you. But I can’t promise you anything right now, Katy.” She sighed deeply, then moved her...

Good Medicine Sophomore YearChapter 50 Reconciliation

February 5, 1983, West Monroe, Ohio “I owe you an apology for earlier. Not for what I said, but how I said it.” “And I owe you one for interfering in something I shouldn’t have.” “I’m going to need to talk to Dad, too,” I said. “But again, only for walking away, not for objecting to his classification of April as not being a ‘nice’ girl.” “I thought for a moment you were going to say, ‘make Mom’ instead of ‘make me’.” “For a moment, I was. But at that split second good sense overcame my...

Good Medicine Sophomore YearChapter 69 Busted

May 9, 1983, McKinley, Ohio “Is something wrong?” Kristin asked on Monday morning. “What do you mean?” “It just felt as if you were somewhere else last night when we were fooling around.” I had been, because once my sleep deprivation was past, I had basically obsessed on the bishop’s comment about ‘choosing’ and the myriad of possibilities I had to choose from, AND the potential problems each of them might create. What he had said about serving at the cathedral and in other parishes only...

Good Medicine Sophomore YearChapter 3 Jocelyns Solution

June 12, 1982, West Monroe, Ohio “What’s going on between you and Jocelyn?” Mom asked when I returned upstairs after talking to Dad. “I thought that was obvious,” I smirked. “Or did you want details?” “Pass,” Mom laughed. “But seriously, Mike, what’s going on?” “We love each other. We had a long, long talk about everything and this is what we want to do. We’re not going to marry; we both understand that. And I’m not going steady with Melody.” “Do you love Melody?” I shrugged, “I have no...

January 29, 1983, McKinley, Ohio “These cookies are excellent!” I took another bite and washed it down with a bit of hot cocoa. “Believe it not, it’s just the ‘Toll House’ recipe!” Kristin said. “I’m glad you like them.” “You liked my songs?” “Oh man, those love songs made me shiver! You must have really loved her.” “I did, and I still do, but it doesn’t really matter now.” “I guess not,” she said quietly. “Why pick me to sing to?” “I saw a pretty girl who didn’t have a guy with her,”...

September 19, 1982, McKinley, Ohio “Mishka!” Tasha gushed when I called her on Sunday afternoon. “How are you?” “Good. How are things in West Monroe?” “You know nothing changes here. Church is the same. School is the same. Home is the same. And you?” “School is about the same as last year, but I’ve made some new friends.” “I want to meet them! Do you think Sasha and I could visit in two weeks?” “If your mom and dad approve, yes.” “They will, so long as I bring Sasha. She promised not...

Good Medicine Sophomore YearChapter 40 Meltdown

January 13, 1983, McKinley, Ohio “Mike?” I heard from behind me. I was sitting on a bench under a tree while snow fell around me. I wasn’t wearing a hat or coat or gloves because I hadn’t put them on when I’d walked from my room. I’d wandered around for a bit, then sat down on a bench near the edge of campus. “Mike?” the voice repeated, but I didn’t respond. I was still reeling from the pictures Jocelyn had sent me. It wasn’t that she was having sex, apparently, with a bunch of different...

June 6, 1982, West Monroe, Ohio “Jos,” I sighed. “It’s not that simple.” “Isn’t it?” “Come on! You know that would end things between Melody and me!” “I believe Melody has been good for you, but is she THE ONE? Wait! Don’t answer. If she was, you wouldn’t be dating Tasha and Katy, and you wouldn’t still be carrying a torch for Angie.” “Angie is just a friend,” I protested. Jocelyn smiled, “I’ll take that wager anytime you want to make it. You can answer my first question now.” I...

August 20, 1982, McKinley, Ohio “Mike Loucks,” I said to the young woman at the desk in the brand-new Rickenbacker dorm. She flipped through the manila envelopes and pulled out the one with my name on it. “Your room key, a sticker for your ID to update it for this year, a new student handbook, and your parking sticker,” she said. “Parking sticker?” “The lots are all numbered now, and you can only park in the lot you’re assigned to. How did they resolve conflicts?” “Just as I described.” “And after he hid in his workshop?” “He basically stayed there until he accepted that my mom was right, then went to make up. I Vacation with Liz

Liz is a single woman who recently won a five day vacation for two, with air transportation and either a double room or two single rooms at a nice hotel on the beach. I won’t mention the name of the airline or of the hotel, not because of any negative experience but because I don’t want to give them free advertising. Also, they might object to my mentioning them and sue me, so I will just call them ‘the airline’ and ‘the hotel’ to avoid any hassle. Because Liz has no husband or steady boy...

I just fucked Liz

My birthday wasn’t looking good. Now, I’m a strong believer in the idea that having a good birthday was my responsibility, but this year chips had been falling where they may and despite my usual optimism I didn’t see much to give me hope. My best friends were deserting me; Brian needed to go down to Stanford to attend a conference, and Mark drove up to Nova Scotia with his family. And Liz, well, she was a bit shaky. As often happens, an accident led to a...

She once told him that she wanted to see what it was like to be with another girl. So he set it up so we can teach her how to eat pussy. “We are going to get her so wet just looking at us.” I...

An unfamiliar local number flashes on my cell-phone screen.”Hi, Mary. It’s Wendy!”Someone has the wrong number. But the voice is young and pleasantly feminine with a familiar intonation."Yes. This is Mary,” I tease."My, what a deep voice you have," Wendy quips."All the better to please you with, My Dear,” I reply."And how exactly would you do that, Mister Big Bad Wolf?” she giggles.I’m evasive, but she insists I tell her what I mean, so I say the first thing that comes to mind."By showing you...

Aunt Liz

My Aunt LizFrom the time that I could remember my Aunt Liz always had a playful demeanor with an edge of sarcasm within her playfulness. When I was just a c***d and she came over to visit her younger sister (my Mom), she would always take the time out to show me some attention. Generally back then; even though it encompassed some physical touching, the playfulness was wrestling or tickling, or a combination of both. Aunt Lizzie lived in our state’s capitol a couple of hours away from us so it...

Becoming a Slut Wife Liz

Why do women fuck around in their own homes? I know that it is where they feel most comfortable, being in their own surroundings, but they have to know that sooner or later their significant other is going to come home or swing by the house to pick something up. I had a night job, eleven-thirty to eight in the morning and one Friday I cut my hand on the job and I got off work early. When I pulled up at the house all the lights were on and there were several cars parked outside. I heard music...

Good Medicine Sophomore YearChapter 60 Can We Take A Step Back Please

March 25, 1983, West Monroe, Ohio “I’m sorry I didn’t have a chance to talk to you earlier,” I said to Mom when I arrived home. “I understand. You’re home a bit early.” “There really wasn’t anything playing at the movies we wanted to see. We’re going to have breakfast tomorrow and spend the day together. We’ll be at Vespers, though to prevent any explosions I’ll drop her at home so she can come to church with her family.” “I talked to your grandfather on her behalf,” Mom said. “I think...

Liz

I spend a lot of the evening home alone, and I was reading when the neighbor came knocking at my door. Liz looked bad, like she had been crying her eyes out. I didn’t like seeing her like this, and I asked her what was wrong? She told me that she and her boyfriend had yelled and screamed at each other in a big argument, and that she walked out. Liz may have been the lady next door, but she is a definite knockout when it comes to looks and her body. Her breasts are big and firm, and she has...

Shorts with Liz

Over the time we had our affair Liz and I had many meetings. Some were longer than others but many were of a short duration. As I said in first story she was insatiable at times and wasn't averse to taking risks which I found quite exciting too and also took these risks. The following is some of these short and sometimes risky meetings.Liz and Ellen, my wife, the youngest of Liz's k**s, and myself, went down to the beach at the lake. It was a beautiful hot day and there were lots of Mums and...

Meeting Liz

Several months ago, I began what was a chat relationship with a girl online from Santa Ana. She was a hot young latina and very sexy with a great ass. I am a Mature Latino professional retired in Whittier. Every day and especially the weekend, I skim thru this porn site with other horny people wanting to hopefully get laid. That is mostly how our relationship began. We'd met online originally and then in person months later. That special day, we met up at a pub where there was some good music...

Meeting Liz

She was a girl on a porn site and so was I. Every night, I frequently search thru looking for good pictures or videos to jerk off to. There were several ladies that turn me on but this one in particular just lit my balls on my fire. We'd met online originally and in person week's after we played in chat. Liz was (and I assume still is) GORGEOUS! About fun size, curvy but not overweight, long, light brown hair, big, full breasts, the kind that women who get implants would KILL for. And she loved...

Good Medicine Junior YearChapter 60 A Revelation for Liz

January 5, 1984, Columbus, Ohio “Master, Bless!” I said to Vladyka ARKADY when he greeted me in his office. “The Lord bless you, Subdeacon Michael,” he said as I kissed his hand. “Anthony, would you please bring the tea?” “Right away, Vladyka,” Subdeacon Anthony said. “Sit, Subdeacon. We’ll use the comfortable chairs so we can have a quiet chat.” I sat in one of the very comfortable wingback chairs and the bishop sat in a second chair which was very close. Subdeacon Anthony brought in a...

Good Medicine Sophomore YearChapter 42 Dinner with Doctor Blahnik

January 21, 1983, McKinley, Ohio I still hadn’t decided on the answer to Clarissa’s final question when Angie and I went to run on Friday morning. One thing I was reasonably sure of was that saying ‘no’ would likely be equivalent to saying, ‘not yet’. Milena and her friends didn’t seem likely to withdraw the offer anytime soon, though they would all complete their Master’s or undergrad degrees in May. But that wasn’t the thing which was in the front of my mind. What was foremost was what...

Good Medicine Sophomore YearChapter 57 With A Little Help From My Friends

March 9, 1983, West Monroe, Ohio If Tasha hadn’t already been upset by Clarissa, Robby, and Lee, her face showed she was beyond livid with me now. The kiss Janey and I had exchanged wasn’t just a peck on the lips, but the kiss of a boyfriend and girlfriend, if not lovers. And Tasha had seen it. She knew I dated, but she didn’t know I was involved with Janey to that degree. And given the spat Tasha and I’d had the previous night, I could imagine all the evil thoughts going through her...

Good Medicine Sophomore YearChapter 15 Playing Without The Queen of Hearts

September 9, 1982, McKinley, Ohio “White boy! Phone for you!” Clark called out on Thursday evening while I was with the study group. I got up and went to our room to pick up the phone. “Hello?” “Hi, Mikey,” Liz replied. “I just called to say, ‘thank you’.” “For what?” “Making Mindy come back to my room.” I chuckled, “Do you know how difficult it was to kick a hot, naked fox out of my bed? And then, after she turned on the lights so I could see her body, kick her out of my room?” Liz...

Good Medicine Sophomore YearChapter 23 I Wished You Were a Girl

October 16, 1982, West Monroe, Ohio “I had the weirdest experience today.” “Oh?” Mom asked with an arched eyebrow. “I stopped in to see April. She was nursing Chastity. Later, April let me hold her. I was just blown away by the whole experience.” “Babies change your life in many, many ways.” I nodded, “It was like scales fell from my eyes. You know, things I knew intellectually but didn’t really understand.” “Care to share?” “Let’s just say my views on female anatomy changed a...

Good Medicine Sophomore YearChapter 64 Shes Right

April 3, 1983, McKinley, Ohio “Hi, Mike!” “Hi, Mrs. Landers.” “Come on in. Nancy is putting the finishing touches on dinner.” I hadn’t said anything to Nancy about my fasting rule because I didn’t want to create any issues with their Easter dinner. “Thanks!” “Your Easter isn’t for another month, right?” she asked. “May 8th, though our service starts about 10:30pm the night before.” “We went to midnight mass when I was little, but Nancy and I prefer the first morning mass at 5:30am....

July 23, 1982, Circleville, Ohio “I’m sorry I missed our date late Friday,” Katy said after greeting me with a kiss and letting me into the house. “That’s the fourth time you’ve apologized! I accepted your apology when you called to tell me, and for that, you don’t have to apologize! How is your grandmother?” “No change since we spoke on Wednesday. Mom is still there, so it’s just Dad and me. He’s out with his friends tonight, so we have the run of the house. I figured we’d cook, eat, use...

Good Medicine Sophomore YearChapter 44 The Entertainer

January 25, 1983, McKinley, Ohio “You won’t believe what happened on Sunday,” Dale laughed. “What?” “You know Pam’s roommate? The hot cheerleader chick?” “The one you’ve been drooling over since day one?” “Yeah, but I think I have to reconsider. Liking her appears to be VERY dangerous!” “What happened?” “Remember how I said she was dating a guy, even though she was hung up on a guy from Chicago?” “Sure.” “I found out Pam dated him at one point, too! The guy is a legend! Anyway, he...

July 25, 1982, West Monroe, Ohio “Hi, Angie, it’s Mike,” I said when she answered the phone on Sunday afternoon. “Mike? We just talked during the week! What’s up? Is there a problem with me coming to visit in two weeks?” “No, not at all. I wanted to talk to you about the problems I’m having with Jocelyn.” “Uh-oh. February 7, 1983, McKinley, Ohio “Hi!” Kristin gushed when I went to her room just after lunch. “Come in!” I walked into her room and she offered hot cocoa, which I accepted. We sat down on the couch. “Sorry I ran out of cookies. Mom will send more in another week or so.” “I’ll need to run an additional lap every morning to make up for the extra calories!” “I go to a dance class three days a week to keep in shape. Good Medicine Sophomore YearChapter 4 A Fathers Advice

June 25, 1982, West Monroe, Ohio “I’m not sure if that’s a good idea or not,” I replied. “Why?” Becky asked. “We’ve done it before. I don’t have a steady boyfriend. And you said you don’t have a steady girlfriend.” “That’s true. May I ask a very blunt question?” “Sure.” “Are YOU looking to be my girlfriend?” Becky shook her head slowly, “Remember what I said back in October? That I had no illusions about this and that I had no designs on you? But that if I had the ability to make a wish...

August 28, 1982, West Monroe, Ohio “Duh!” she laughed softly. “I’m in your bed! What do you think?” “I think you need to go back to my sister’s room before she or my parents find out and kill both of us!” “Come on, Mike! I want to do it with you! Don’t you want to do it with me?!” She was cute and had a great body, but the LAST thing I needed was ANY kind of relationship with Mindy, even one where I only did what I’d joked with my mom about doing — banging her like a drum! “Just go,...

September 12, 1982, McKinley, Ohio “Hi, Jos,” I said when her roommate called her to the phone. “Hi. How are things?” ‘Shitty!’ I wanted to say, and not in Russian. I also wanted to tell her I missed her and wanted to see her, but saying that might only make things worse. At this point, though, I wondered what ‘worse’ might be. “OK. How are you doing?” “I’m getting used to the routine and how different things are here from West Monroe.” Her answer was flat, and she sounded...

November 13, 1982, McKinley, Ohio “So, what do you want to do tonight?” Nancy laughed, “As if you have to ask!” “I mean BESIDES that!” “How about we grab some dinner and then see The Man from Snowy River. It’s an Australian film and it’s had excellent reviews. Then we can come back here.” “Dinner and a movie, sure. The other thing? Let’s not move so fast, OK?” “We’ve done it before...” “Yes, we have. November 29, 1982, McKinley, Ohio “Now that you’ve had a night to sleep on it, what do you think?” Sandy asked, snuggling close. “Isn’t that what I’m supposed to ask you?” “Probably, but I thought you might have changed your mind or had more of an idea what you meant.” “I asked my mom if there was anything wrong with marrying a friend.” “Me?! Good Medicine Sophomore YearChapter 38 Dont We Have A Date

January 2, 1983, West Monroe, Ohio When I arrived at church on Sunday morning, I was pleased to see Deacon Vasily with Father Herman, saying their entry prayers. I stood quietly in the nave while one of the acolytes, a Junior in High School, lit the oil lamps and ensured everything was properly arranged in the altar. As I stood there, I wondered what would happen when Tasha arrived. Where she stood would speak volumes about what had happened the previous evening when they had missed...

March 8, 1983, West Monroe, Ohio “You don’t look happy, Mike,” Mom said when I greeted her after arriving home. “Tasha and I had a serious disagreement.” “Uh-oh. Because of her dad?” I shook my head, “No, it’s way more complicated. We can talk after dinner if that’s OK.” “Sure. Your sister and her friends are up in her room.” “The tradition I started?” I grinned. “Exactly. You had Jocelyn and Dale at every birthday celebration from the time you were in second grade. And before that,...

Liz

I began laughing, hard. "Look at this!" I managed to get out between my bursts of uncontrollable giggles. I laid back and lifted my phone screen to show Liz the video I found on my news feed. She chuckled. Maybe I just thought it was funnier than it really was. That seemed to happen a lot, to me. I tried to pretend to be disappointed that she wasn't as amused as I was by sticking out my bottom lip in a c***dish pout. However, she seemed a little distracted. Her ginger red hair fell messily...

December 18, 1982, West Monroe, Ohio “Don’t you want to give this to Jocelyn directly?” Mrs. Mills asked. “Want to? Sure. But she made it clear she doesn’t want to see me. I’m half-expecting her to return the gift unopened.” “Not if I have anything to say about it!” she replied firmly. “Please don’t force the issue,” I pleaded. “Whatever is wrong with Jocelyn isn’t going to change because you pressure her. In fact, that might actually make things worse. “I’m not sure they could be worse...

Sex With Liz

I met Liz while out drinking with a group of co-workers. She also worked for the same company, but in a different division and floor, so I'd never met her before. She was ten years older than me, very attractive with dark eyes, black hair, and a wicked sense of humor; we hit it off immediately. I asked her out, which eventually led to her bedroom and a long night of sex. We were so sexually compatible that this blossomed into a year-long fuck-fest, romping naked three to four times per week....

October 26, 1982, McKinley, Ohio When we returned from biology lab on Tuesday morning, a large group was milling around the entrance to the dorms. I saw Melody and walked over to ask her what the issue was. “The police busted Jeremy for pot,” she said. “Nobody can go into the dorm right now.” “What? For one or two joints? I thought they decriminalized pot.” Melody laughed, “One or two joints? You’re joking, right? He’s the main supplier in our dorm! How did you not know that?” “Because I...

January 21, 1983, McKinley, Ohio Light snow was falling as Angie and I left Doctor Blahnik’s house to walk back to the dorm. “That was fun,” Angie said. “Sorry about the minor indiscretion.” “It’s OK, Mike. Why would she assume otherwise? She knows we run together, pray together, and go to church together. Why do you think everyone calls me ‘Mrs. Loucks’?” “But still...” “She’s just very open and a lot of fun. I wish more professors were like her, even if she made me turn purple!” “I...

Good Medicine Sophomore YearChapter 18 Stress Relief

September 16, 1982, McKinley, Ohio Sandy hadn’t moved, but the feeling of her leaning against me changed with her question. My first thought was Angie, and I lifted my eyes to hers, and found a bemused look on her face. I realized, at that moment, that the dorm opinion of her being ‘Mrs. Loucks’ wasn’t all that far-fetched. In some ways, I was treating her that way, and she certainly was, in some ways, acting like a wife. I’d known that before, but my instant, gut reaction of looking to her...

December 26, 1982, West Monroe, Ohio “Shit!” I swore vehemently, and in English for effect, when I walked out onto the porch on Sunday morning. “Mikhail Petrovich!” Mom said sternly. I picked up the box on the front porch and turned to show her. “«Говно»!” she replied. I nodded, “Nice to know you agree with me.” The box was the one that held the two stuffed rabbits I’d bought for Jocelyn. The fact that she’d returned them spoke volumes, and short of putting up a tombstone, I wasn’t sure...

January 1, 1983, West Monroe, Ohio “It’s open, Mindy!” I called out. The door opened and she came into the room. “You were expecting me?” “I’d have been seriously disappointed in my ability to predict your behavior if you hadn’t shown up!” “A little too obvious?” “You might say that! May I give you a tip?” “I’d rather have the whole thing!” Mindy smirked. I laughed so hard I had to sit down on the bed so I wouldn’t fall over. It took me a full minute to recover enough to be able to...
