HuniePop 2: Double Date has an animated intro to give you some backstory and also show off some damn fine voice acting. It’s obvious within the opening minutes that this isn’t the half-ass effort you get from a lot of homemade porn games; the whole thing feels polished and professional as hell. “Spirits of limitless lechery lying dormant in the cosmos awoken only once every ten thousand years by a cosmic super-period of unspeakable PMS,” the narrator tells us.
After talking about how hopeless everything is and how nobody can save them, she suddenly says, “Wait, I might know somebody….” The epic, legendary music fades, and we get something more modern as the game segues over to my character’s humble apartment. There’s some offscreen female moaning because it turns out I’m banging this red-haired babe. She appears on the screen, looking sexy as hell, and we’ve got a bit of dialog to choose from in typical visual-novel style.
I’ve seen a lot of porn games where the intro is a lot more polished than the actual gameplay, so I wasn’t sure if we’d hear more actual talking until the chat with the redhead. HuniePop 2 has a fair amount of spoken dialog, and the voice acting is really nice. This chick has got a sexy British accent and delivers the lines realistically. “Later, sweet cheeks,” she says as our little interaction is wrapping up. “Keep that thing nice and hard for me when I get back!”
Keeping You Hard by Keeping It Simple
“Well, well, well,” says the pink-haired, butterfly-winged chick who appears right after the fire-crotch takes off. As soon as I saw her, I knew that this would be the anime character who walked me through the general mechanics of playing HuniePop 2: Double Date. She lays out some more plotline, and the next thing I know, I’m on an airplane chatting with an ebony flight attendant who wants to help me join the mile-high club in the airplane lavatory.
The theme of HuniePop 2: Double Date is right there in the title. When you head to that tiny airplane restroom, both girls come with you, and it’s your job to make sure they’re both happy. The Double Date plays out by matching tiles, and the pink-haired chick will explain which tiles do what. The basic mechanics are simple and addictive, easing you into the game in a way that will suck you in deep if you’re a fan of tile games and hentai.
The first level of any porn game is hard to lose, but it’s still fun to play. After pleasing both girls during the main part of the double date, it was time for the bonus round. The bonus was just a more fast-paced version of the tile-matching, this time without having to please two girls at once. I was rewarded with a full-screen image of both chicks spreading their legs in the airplane bathroom when I beat the bonus level. I wonder what airline they’re flying because that lavatory is way fucking roomier than on any plane I’ve been on. If you had to, you could probably take a comfortable dump on this jetliner.

That means the game doesn’t nag you to make in-app purchases all the fucking time like most free-to-play games, nor will you get that sinking sensation that winning is impossible without pumping more quarters into the machine. On the contrary, it’s a great piece of stand-alone video game perversion, combining an engaging visual-novel dating simulator with addictive tile-matching gameplay.
It’s hard to find serious fault with the game. The relatively slow pacing between tile-matching levels may be a turnoff for those looking for more frenetic action. However, that same dramatic buildup will be one of HuniePop 2’s biggest selling points for many porn gamers. Ultimately, HuniePop 2: Double Date straddles the line between two wildly different styles of gameplay and manages to do justice to both, making it an easy recommendation for players who appreciate both X-rated dating sims and tile matchers.
