When she turned back again to face me, her hair on one side hung over her shoulder while the other side went straight down the back. She leaned against the door with one foot bent, the bottom of her shoe flat on the hard wood of the door. Both her hands were on either side of her, also on the door. She looked beautiful.
“So, what do you want to do?” she asked, breaking me from my trance.
“Oh, um, I don’t know, what is there to do?” She had a thinking expression now, contemplating on what to do with me. Then she had a bright look on her face. She stood up straight with a smile across her face and started walking toward me. She took at her right hand.
“C’mon, let’s go to the back.” Her eyes twinkled from the streaming sun outside. I smiled a bit and took her hand. She led me to one of the back rooms. “Yeah ok,” I said, a little uncomfortably, seeing as they didn’t have much of a relationship before this.
I started racking the balls after deciding to play a 9-ball game, while Jessica started to go and grab a stick from the wall behind her. She walked to where I was after picking one. As I was putting the cue ball in place I asked, “Do you know the rules of a 9-ball game?”

“Sure.” I moved closer to her, and she tilted her head up a bit to meet my gaze. “You just hold the stick at the base with your right hand,” I breathed out a bit, she had a twinkle in her eyes, we never broke our eye contact. Then slowly, and more softer than before, I continued, “then with your left, you hold it like you would a pencil,” our faces moved closer slightly, we were now silently panting, “but you put the stick in between your index and middle finger so it doesn…” at that moment, she leaned up and kissed me, no tongue. I was sure she felt electricity. The kiss ended just as fast as it started. I pulled my head back to look at her face. Her eyes were still closed, her lips wet and slightly open. Suddenly, the phone rang. Jessica’s face didn’t change, still in that same position, oblivious to the phone ringing. After about the third ring, I gently put my right hand on her shoulder, just touching her neck. “Yeah,” she replied in a barely audible whisper.
“The phone.” Her hair swished past my face as she turned her head to where the ringing was coming from. Realizing the sound, she ran out the door and out of sight.
I stayed in the room until she finished her phone call. I was sitting in one of the lounge couches when she came back.
“Um, my mom said that my cousin Ally will be coming here any minute. She’ll be staying with us for a while. I hate to ask you to leave but, she’s kind of shy around boys, so..”
“Yeah, no worries. I have to do some chores anyway.” I got up and walked past her to leave her house. I turned back, “Cya Jess.” I opened the front door and walked out. Before closing it, she came hurrying up to me, “Wait, um, if you want to, i can go over to your house later for a while.”
“No, that’s ok. You’ll probably have to stay with your cousin anyway.” She looked a little sad at my reply, but tried very hard to hide it.
“Oh. Ok then, i’ll see you tomorrow at school? Maybe have lunch together.”
“Sure, it sounds great.” I said, very happy that we now have some kind of relationship.
“Bye Scott,” she said in a girly voice, smiling.
“Cya Jess, i’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Kay.”
I got in my car and drove home to find my sister catching up on some sleep. I thought i’d catch up on some too.
