Jordan flinched, and the searing pain looped around her wrists reminded her to be still. Grim gray daylight had snuck in down the window shaft. She must have fallen asleep. He was going to kill her, and she'd fallen asleep. She didn't know he was going to kill her -- not really. She didn't know why he was here, why he'd zip-tied her to a water pipe in the basement, why he'd just left her alone down here... why he hadn't killed her already, or done things to her...
