“You always have to work.” Rick said rolling his eyes. “You’re never going to find someone if all you do is work and study.”
“So I’ve been told, over, and over, and over again.” Samantha huffed as the trio sat down in the large lecture hall.
“Can anyone tell me what the Djinn is?” Professor White began.
“It’s a genie. Or, what a genie actually is in mythology. Most cultures believe genies were actual tricksters, having the power to grant wishes, but often times exploiting loopholes in the wish to make the wishes backfire.” Samantha answered.
“Teacher’s pet,” Tiffany said to her best friends Holly and Darlene sitting next to her.
Tiffany was the leader of the group and if Jenni's ass made her a hottie, Tiffany's ass made her a goddess. “Have fun at the party.” Samantha said to both Jenni and Rick.
“Have fun waiting tables. Honestly Sammy, you gotta find a better gig, or at least one that has a better uniform.” Rick said as Samantha walked out of the adjoined bathroom of her room in a checkered red and white skirt and a white blouse.
“It’s the only one around here with flexible hours.” Samantha said.
“Yeah, flexible and you have been working nights for the past month.” Jenni said rolling her eyes.
“Lay off okay, my school wasn’t paid for by my parents.” Samantha said heading out the door and to work.
Walking to work there was a sudden shout. She looked up in time to see a masked person all in black slam into her. As she hit the pavement, she heard a rip.
The figure jumped to their feet and took off once again.
“Great, just great.” Samantha said standing up and brushing herself off, a long tear had happened in her skirt along the seam. “Bending down to pick up her purse she noticed a shiny jewel lying on the grass.
“Hello, what’s this?” She asked picking up the jewel to examine it. It was ruby red and cut in the shape of an oval. It looked like it had been scratched in the fall. She wiped at the scratch to see if it would come off, but it didn’t. Just then her watch began to beep.
“Shit, I’m gonna be late!” She threw the jewel in her purse and rushed to work.
"You look like shit run over twice." Samantha's coworker Mindy said noticing her frazzled hair and torn skirt.
"Thanks for sugar coating it."
"I got a spare skirt in my locker. Go and change. But Terry wants to see you, so don't take too long." Mindy said. She was a skinny girl, but that was her choice. She was horrified of being fat, so she watched everything she ate. Her shoulder length copper hair was pulled up in a bun.
Samantha sighed, changed and went to see her boss.

"Maybe next semester. But right now, I can't. I'm sorry."
