Life changes are never easy. They always take time. There is always an adjustment period. And it doesn't make it any easier if you are dealing with kids, changing school systems, moving all of your worldly possessions into a new house, trying to change your address and get used to living somewhere new for the first time in almost fifteen years.
That's just the beginning of life changes.
I'd been married for almost fifteen years to the same woman. I'd dealt with the boredom, the prude attitude, the stuffy behavior, the lack of sex, and more than anything, being frustrated because I felt like I had no life and was growing old quickly and heading towards and early death. Walking in the front door of the new little house I had bought, I was walking into a new life. I was walking into a brand new day. I was changing a life I'd established over a long period of time. And I never knew how much different it would turn out to be. At first, I was disappointed, let down, depressed, and fighting a lot of shit in my head. I was angry, knowing I'd put up with a bunch of bullshit from a wife with a shitty attitude, always accusing me of things I wasn't doing, always treating my friends like shit, and more than anything, I'd go to bed alone in another room, pissed off that for another day, weeks and sometimes months in a row, no sex, nothing worth talking about, and I knew I'd wake up in the morning angry again, upset, and wishing I'd change things. I had no idea how different it would be the day I finally grew so tired of it I walked into the house, looked at her when she gave me that fake smile, asked how my day was, and said, "It's a lot better now that I'm telling you I want a divorce. I'm done with your fake attitude, your hypocritical bullshit, your two-faced behavior, your prude attitude, and your lousy behavior. No more bullshit. I'm done." and I walked out. I left, went out with some friends that night, came home about 2 in the morning, and she was waiting up for me. It was actually kind of funny. She tried to talk to me, ask me how my night went, ask me if I had fun with my friends, and then of all things, tried to offer me sex. I just laughed at her. And I mean literally. I laughed at her. I think she was stunned to believe I would actually go through with it. It took me about two weeks of telling her repeatedly that I was done until she finally believed it. Then she got pissed. Then she started acting even shittier. Then she threatened to clean me out. Then she threatened my pension. And when I finally said she could have it all, as long as I could leave in peace, she must have realized I was serious as a fucking heart attack. Two months after that, here I was, stepping into my front door. A new address. A new setup. A new driveway. A new front yard. A new everything. Including a new life. And life changes? It was an amazing feeling. Scary. Disappointing to have to start all over and go through it again. But more than anything, it was a challenge. I had no idea what the future would bring. Little did I know, it was going to get better immediately from the start. As I was unloading furniture off the rental van I had, I heard a voice say hello. I set the dresser down I was off-loading and turned around. Standing in front of me was this adorable girl, probably no older than sixteen or seventeen, long brown hair, cute blue jean shorts, a baggy t-shirt, and a big smile on her face. "Well hi," I said to her. "I'm Mandy," she said. "Well hi Mandy. I'm Joey," I said. She looked at me and giggled. "Aren't you old enough to be a mister somebody?" Mandy said. I laughed. "Nope. I don't use mister. That's for old people. And I'm not old," I said. She giggled again. "Well, you're older than me. So I should call you mister," Mandy said. I shook my head. "Not a good way to start off a friendship if you ask me," I said. "Who said we're gonna be friends?" Mandy replied. I was shocked. I guess I wasn't used to a girl that young being that blunt. "Well then, sorry I misunderstood. It's nice to meet you. I gotta finish unloading my stuff," I said and turned away All of the sudden, I felt her up against me pushing me. I turned around. She giggled. "I was just kidding mister. You look like a nice person. So I think we can be friends," Mandy said. I just laughed. "What's so funny?" she said. "Are you always this blunt?" I said. "Yep. I am. It works most times," Mandy said. "Well, it works for me," I finally said. I couldn't my eyes off this little cute teenager. Standing probably six or seven feet away from me, she had her hands on her hips. Cute hips, cute long hair, and precious green eyes. She couldn't weigh more than about 135 or 140 pounds, and was probably about 5 foot 7 or 5 foot 8. Really cute. And I mean really cute. I had been with a chick my age, overweight, heavier, not really much to look at, and I wasn't used to talking to someone so damn cute. Mandy looked at me and giggled.
