"So, you're that new, young adventurer, right?"
He takes a long draught from his cigar. For an innkeeper, he's young, though his short hair is already greyed. The thirty years, you estimate, of his life must have been stressful to give him such a weathered appearance. Still, you think he's somewhat attractive, not that you'd ever tell him that. You're here on important business.
His eyes meet yours. "Ever been in a dungeon before?"
"Of course." You might barely be an adult, but you've explored your fair share.
"Then you'd know how dangerous they are." He leans forward on his desk as if to whisper to you, but his voice is deep.
"Yeah."
"This one is even more so. Nobody knows what lies at the bottom, and there's a good reason for that."
"I know what I'm doing," you protest. More importantly, there's supposedly mountains of treasure if you manage to survive deep enough into it. If you make it, you'll be swimming in riches and glory. That provides all the motivation you need.
Apparently, he realises this. "Look, I can't just give the location away. It's a secret for a reason - every time I have this conversation with someone, it turns out to be the last. All of them were older than you, more experienced." He smirks. "More importantly, all of them had something to offer in return."
So that's what this is about. "You know I don't have any gold, and I need my gear."
"You can take a job."
"What do you have in mind?" This man seems deceitful. You can't guess what he might be scheming.
You shift in your seat as his gaze travels over your body, analysing every inch. Oh, boy. "Has anyone ever told you you're beautiful?"
Anyone that's seriously paid attention has - your mother, the local barber, the tanner that designed your armour. You guess it's hard to be ugly with chest-length blonde hair and a soft face like yours. Not to mention, you do have an athletic figure, formed from years of physical activity, and the kind of curves that require decent undergarments when you're adventuring. You suppose you've got an average body: nothing really wrong with it, but not much about you stands out.
Which is why this man's comments give his true intentions away. He's indecent by default; you're just the nearest girl, and you happen to be at his mercy. It doesn't matter how pretty he thinks you are. He'd fuck anything on two legs.
Seeing your blank response, he stops trying to seduce you. "If you don't have anything to give me," he says in mock exasperation, "I suppose I'll let you give me oral instead."
