Prologue

Three years ago, Jessica and her partner Matt were tasked with case that had gone cold.

“Alright you two, Red is back.” Sargent Johnson spoke quickly before taking a sip of water, the words leaving his mouth seemingly choking him up and drying his mouth. “He sent this.” he said placing his glass back the table and turning his laptop to face both Jessica and Matt.

Displayed on the small screen was a black and white cut-out of Richard Nixons face with a black thick solid line covering his eyes.

*That sick bastard.* echoed through Jessica’s ears as she watched the screen intently, remembering everything in the papers, pictures of family’s homes left in ruin, orphaned children and loved ones removed from one another all in the name of what he referred to as sport.

“Mr Johnson.” spoke a robotic voice, “I’ve missed seeing your people chasing a ghost.” it continued in its same creepy tone. “I had hoped that you would have done better but I suppose not catching me and being given a fancy desk job is good enough for you?” the voice congratulated the Sargent before the screen switched to pictures of the Sargent receiving his award then bursting into flames before the screen filled with complete darkness. “Will you lose another?” the voice teased as the Sargent rose from his seat and moved over to the window where he had a pitcher of whisky and one solitary glass. “I can still hear her screams you know, I still cum to the ringing in my ears.” the voice grunted as digital white splatters hit and dribbled down the screen.

Watching with her jaw clenched and eyes fixated, the screen began to flick between images of torn body parts and more splatters of digital cum before Matt closed the lid. “When was this sent?” he asked sternly, his fist clenching and teeth gritting together.
