Richard was late. He knew Tom and Harry wouldn’t mind, but he still prided himself on being punctual. Hurrying into the diner he didn’t even stop to pick out a server and barely even registered the chorus of several female “Hellos” as he spotted his brunch companions. As he approached Tom and Harry were chatting about some game they both played and their current kill count. The virus had taken over a year to inoculate the populace to. A global population of over ten billion dropped to six in a single turning of the seasons.
The terrorists had expected there to be a few survivors and in their twisted feminist agenda had added a special surprise to the virus. For the next thirty five years the global scientific and government community had tried to balance the sharp drop in population. Surviving males under the age of eighteen had been seized from their families for genetic harvesting and research. Richard had been taken from his family at 12.
For the next ten years, he had lived in a state sponsored clinic with other males quarantined for experiments.
