Alyssa was backed up against the wall surrounded by four nefarious thugs in the cold dark alleyway. The leader held a knife, while another held a baseball bat.
"Guys...please..." she said, clutching her bag close. She couldn't believe it. Wasn't this just her luck? Aren't things like this only supposed to happen in the movies?
One of the unarmed thugs approached beside her. "Hey darling," he said, "If you don't want to give up your pretty little bag, I'm sure there's something else we could have..."
He boldly lifted his hand and twined a few strands of Alyssa's long black curly hair between his fingers. "So nice..." he said. "How old are you? Nineteen? Twenty?" She immediately swatted his hand away and looked at him with those come-to-bed eyes. "Stop it."
The thug raised his hands defensively and said: "Okay, okay, darling, but you're the one that's come through our neighborhood all dolled-up and sexy like that. Oh look at me," he aped, "I'm just a college party girl and I like to tease guys to improve my self-image."
"I'm not dolled-up for you, dickhead."
"Tonight you are," The thug with the knife said with a smile. Alyssa turned her head back to him. His eyes roamed her delicately athletic figure. Her pleated satin skirt swayed across her thighs as she took a further step backward, pressing her smooth firm butt against the wall. "There's nowhere for you to go! However, unknown to him and the others, she was trained for situations just like this. Using the momentum, she struck out her foot and landed it deep into his gut. The thug leader went flying into a stack of cardboard boxes. An unarmed thug immediately grabbed her from behind.
"Ahh!" she screamed, as his fingers dug into her cleavage. Using his momentum, she flipped him forward, and pounded his face in repeatedly with her club shoes.
The thug with the baseball bat charged forward and swung at her. He swung his bat, and swung it low. She nearly dodged it, but he had released it midswing and it propelled painfully into her shins. "Ah shit," she cried as she fell forward onto her hands and knees. The two unarmed thugs left standing each grabbed her arms, hoisted her up and pinned her up against the wall. "Ah!" she yelped.
"Shit girl!" said the thug who had the baseball bat, "Why are you fighting? Stop fighting us!"
"Yeah! We don't want to fight. We want to play!" said the other thug.
Alyssa hung her head trying to regain her breath as the two thugs felt her up.
The collapsed carboard boxes came alive as the thug leader crawled out of it with his knife. "Looks like you messed with the--" he was about to say, but suddenly Alyssa sprang back into action. With one foot to the left, she kicked the thug in the groin. He released her left wrist as he fell, and she immediately clocked the other thug in the face with an open-palmed strike. The sound of his nose breaking into pieces reverberated between the alley walls.
But--She was a second too late! As Alyssa turned to face the leader, he dug his knife deep into her upper stomach. "UGH!" she gasped. She slumped forward over his hand. It was a mortal wound. "Oh shit," the thug said, as she hit the ground and a pool of blood spilled from her body. "Come on, let's go. We gotta get outta here!" said the leader, who was now nervously scanning for witnesses and helping his thugly comrades rise up. An echo of feet clattered down the alleyways until finally Alyssa's body was left alone.
An hour later, a bouncer from the club nearby approached Alyssa's body. "Come on, you can't sleep out here. Get up. You gotta go Ho-- Oh shit..." He saw the pool of blood beneath her and stopped. "Holy shit!" He yelled as he ran off. Moments later, when the police arrived, Alyssa's body was gone. All that remained was the dry pool of blood.
Several blocks away, a girl could be spotted, with distress on her face, a bag over her shoulder, and a torn shirt, she walked hurriedly home. Her club shoes clacked down the street, and she did not appear to be wounded.
Minutes later, Alyssa was home. "Almost-" she said to herself in the mirror, washing her dirty hands in the sink. She peeled off her clothes and examined her stomach. It had healed nicely. In fact, there wasn't even a scratch. She nodded her head before stepping into the shower. She thought about what had just happened. She's known about her condition for years now, but she could never get used to it. I'm supposed to be dead, she thought. If I'm like anyone else, I'd be dead. She lathered her body and mixed the cleansers into her hair. For someone that can't die, I think about death too much, she thought. Then she thought about life. People are born every day. Would her child be like...this? Can she even have children? She shakes her head. She has eternity to find out. As she turns off the water and slowly steps out she decides that she's in no hurry.
