"You are to be banished from our society forever." Not the words the man standing next to his rover wanted to remember,the man took very little with him as he sat outside the walls of the town. He was no ordinary man by society standards, he was a lawman and being a lawman he took precautions knowing that the verdict might go against him. The judges allowed him to keep what they thought would be enough to survive a day or two outside of the town. The lone man scratched behind the ears of the strange cat that he saved. The cat's purring was small comfort to him. "Well, cat..." He said bending over to pick the cat up and put it in the Rover, "looks like your in more trouble than I am, but I couldn't leave you behind now could I." With a sigh he put the cat into his rover and started up the engine. Wyatt did manage to get some extra special items into his rover, his pistols and several rifles, field glasses, ammunition plus his old Marshall's badge. The lone man always though he had been a good lawman, but he had been framed by his one of his own mates who had a secret drug seller on the side, and with no real chance to defend himself he was cast from the colony. Well, he would survive, he knew how better than most thanks to his dad and his uncle. The outcast made sure that he ransacked the house before he left, he emptied his bank account on the QT so when his former mate finally decided to get her hands on his money it wouldn't be there. "Well, cat there are other places we can go, it may take a while, but we will make it, I won't let you starve."
Wyatt was glad of the AC in his rover, because he knew that outside of the city dome it was going to be hot. He drove past many old wrecked homes, towns and cities from another time that were now empty of population. After a few hours he decide to pull off the road. He was surprised to actually find some green grass and a few shade trees. "Will you look at that cat, a tree and grass. I thought that they were all destroyed in the wars." Getting out Wyatt found the temperature was not as bad as he thought it would be. "We'll rest here for a bit cat, but just in case." Wyatt reached into his rover and strapped on his pistol. A noise brought Wyatt back to full alert. "Shit!, I must have dozed off. Get your ass in the car cat while I check out the noise." He had been sitting under one of the trees. Proceeding carefully Wyatt moved towards the noise. He came upon a scene he had seen many times as a lawman back at the dome, a gang trying to rape a young female. The female's top was in tatters her breasts exposed for the world to see and Harry could see the tears on her face but no real fear."Having fun boys?" The stranger's voice surprised the gang. The obvious leader spoke up. "Who the fuck are you old man?" Wyatt moved closer. "I can be your worst dream come true if you don't move away from the girl." The leader laughed. "What are you going to do asshole?" Wyatt pulled out his pistol and quietly said, "Simple I'll shoot you dead. I'm sure that your friends will miss you." The leader looked at the pistol in wyatt's hand and noticed that it was held unwaveringly at his chest. "That Old Bastard won't shoot, he doesn't have the balls." The leader thought to himself. The leader was about to learn a very valuable and very hard lesson.
"Who the hell are you to stop me with my property?" Harry thumbed back the hammer of his pistol. "Call me the "Lawman". Now you and your pals here have five seconds to back away from the girl." One of the gang moved towards Harry and in the blink of an eye the gang member lay dead on the ground. "Your friend didn't listen and he paid the price, are you willing to be next?" The leader wasn't sure that he saw the stranger aim the gun at all it happened that fast. The stranger put out his free hand to the girl who took it with a weak smile. Harry noticed how with a little washing up she could be quite beautiful. "What's your name?" He asked. "Kathy." Was all she said. The stranger moved back towards the rover with Kathy in tow. The leader of the group yelled, "We'll find you "old man.The boss will hear about this." Harry glanced at the fool and said,"Be my guest, tell your "Boss" I'm sure he will be glad to know what kind of jackass he sent out to deal with a stranger." With a grim smile Harry moved away from the gang with Kathy in front of him. It's odd he thought, he wasn't affraid, he had been in tight situations like this a time or two.
