Cheyenne looked around, thinking that maybe he was early as well. She didn't see him. What if he lied and used someone else's picture's, she thought. He couldn't have. She distinctly remembered his voice when they spoke over the phone. He sounded the age he was. She told herself to stop worrying about it and to stop being so paranoid.
From her dark, out-of-the-way corner, she saw him enter. His grey hair was cut short and she could see where he was balding in the center of his scalp on top. Some young women would just say that he was too old if he had hit on them, but, to Cheyenne, he was "beautiful". She stepped out of the dark and into his line of sight. He saw her and it was obvious that he was not trying to rush to her. She noticed that he seemed eager to see her, eager to meet her. She felt herself tremble and then willed it to stop, but it all failed.
He reached her. "Cheyenne?" he asked. All she could do was nod. She could not swallow the lump that had formed in her throat. She hated the fact that the first words that wanted to escape from here lips were, "Can I touch you?" She kept silent. "I'm Dave," he announced and offered his hand.
She shook it and smiled sweetly. He chuckled and pulled her close to him. "Are you cold? You're shivering," he asked.
She shook her head. "I'm not cold."
Dave rubbed Cheyenne's shoulder. "Would you like to eat here, or would you like to go somewhere else?"
"well, I'm hungry, but I just want to be alone with you with no one else around. Is that possible?" She asked.
"Honey, anything's possible. Drive-thru and then my place?"
"I'll follow you. I don't want to leave my car." They both agreed on where to eat and what she wanted because he refused to let her buy her food. Once they arrived at Dave's single story brick home and went in, they both sat on the couch in his wide living room. Although the living room was not really that big from corner to corner, it was wide enough to give the impression that it was bigger than it actually was.
They talked for a while about life in general and work and past and present dreams. Cheyenne sat there the whole time, watching every move he made and wondering what he was really thinking behind those bright blue eyes of his. His eyebrows rose when she began to speak as if he expected every word out of her mouth to be spectacular. Of course, to him, they were.
While talking about her dreams, she finally touched his arm while she looked into his eyes. As soon as skin touched skin, her heart began to race and her pulse throbbed in her veins. She wasn't sure if he had noticed, but she prayed to any god or goddess out there that he did, so that he could make the first move to give her great joy, although just the touch of him brought her enough joy to last for months.
