Connie woke up first the next day. There was a note for him
left by Abby. It read:
Did you see that bathtub upstairs in the dollhouse?
Well, I grabbed some snow from outside and had Cubix
heat it up. You can now have a nice hot bath. The
cabinet upstairs has the outfit I picked for you last
night. Just in case you disagree with my choice of
outfit, cubix has the recording from last night where
you agreed to my terms.
I'm off to find food.

Connie had to admit that the water felt good. He/she walked
over to the cabinet with some measure of trepidation. His
fear had a good grounding. She had picked out a pair of
pink hi-cut panties, a red push-me-up bra (which surprised
Connie who never knew a Barbie doll who wore one) and a
cheerleaders outfit from Bubbletown High.
The underwear was not a problem, but the bra was so
difficult, he had to get cubix to help. The cute red skirt
cut off at .23 millimeters above his knee. The fluffy
sweater was no major crisis either. It was the flash of
light that distracted him. Abby was standing in the door
with a tiny camera.
She laughed, "Sis boom bah. Connie!" then she said, "Get
out of the bathroom, Cubix has to recycle the water for
Chelsea."
Connie and Abby headed back into the doll kitchen where
some bacon and eggs were waiting. Connie's surprise must
have translated to her face because Maximex said. "There
was a whole room full of food, yah and it's all for us."
Chelsea and May came downstairs in such a foul mood you
could see their faces from three rooms away. Chelsea was
wearing a white communion dress, and May was wearing a mumu
with a long flowing skirt. The three boys sat down at the
table and were on the receiving end of another flash from
the camera.
As the picture developed, Abby put a label on it that read:
"Aren't they pretty?"
In the next three minutes, the boys made a collective mess
of 1 pound all over their skirts and dresses. Abby rushed
upstairs to the closet and pulled out three sundresses, and
three slips. She laid them out on the table and went off to
find some soap. Cubix was starting to enjoy the prospect so
he went with her, leaving a message that Abby wanted the
boys to strip down to their underwear, put on the slips and
dresses and wait. After three minutes, she still hadn't
come back so the boys got to talking.
Connie spoke first, "Guys, or should I say girls, we're in
deep sludge."
That was enough for the other two. They turned to Cerebrex
who was beeping loudly. Apparently he had just picked up on
the temporal flux. And after ten seconds, another piece of
information surfaced that pleased of all of them, May
especially.
It was a long-winded, technical jargon speech that when
translated into English sounded something like: "The longer
we stay shrunk, the more we have to eat, just to stay
alive. As this is the first real day, we'll have to eat
four meals today."
Connie laughed at this and said, "In two doll days, we'll
be eating like hobbits."
Only Dondon, Chelsea and Cerebrex understood the reference,
simply because May was never much for reading.
Abby arrived in the dollhouse with a 1/2 bar of soap and
told all the boys, "We have a lot of work to do with you,
so lets start by learning how to handwash your clothes."
She had thrown as much sarcasm into the last two words that
even May understood the implication. The boys got into a
soapfight, but even through all this the grease-stained
clothes became clean and were dried by Cubix's turbine fan.
Lesson Two began with Abby grabbing a dress and ducking
into the bathroom to put it on. She had seen "flashes" of
underwear when the boys sat down for breakfast and thought
it was unacceptable. She came out in a nice electric blue
gown.
"Okay, girls, we'll be working on a point system until
lunch. The one who has the most points through your next
four lessons, chooses what we will eat. First lesson,
sitting like a girl."
She showed them once only how to put the legs together when
sitting down, and then once only how to cross the legs so
no one would see their "assets" each of the three robots
was told to calculate on a system of two points for every
successful sitdown, with a fraction of a point lost for
doing it wrong. As the boys started to sit Abby took yet
another picture, titled "girl's first sitting lesson".
Connie turned to her and asked what the pictures were for.
Abby simply smiled and said, "I'm not going to blackmail
you, if that's what you think. I was going to put these in
a special photo album so we can always remember these three
days."
Cubix walked up behind her and whispered in her ear the
truth about doll-time. Soon Abby was on the verge on a
nervous breakdown, stuttering about "Tiny... three weeks...
stuck with the boys."
Connie got up from the couch and picked up a rubber glove
and slapped Abby across both cheeks. When that didn't work,
he bent down and kissed her for three seconds.
Abby snapped out of it and spoke softly to Connie, "Thanks,
Connor, I needed that, but if you ever kiss me again during
our three weeks together, you'll be the first one in
diapers and frocks, you understand?"
The lesson was over and the score was Chelsea 17 3/4,
Connie 15 1/2, and May 7.
Together they moved into phase two, makeup. Abby
demonstrated twice this time. Eyeshadow, mascara, lipstick
and a pinch of rouge, then she applied cold cream. Now it
was the boy's turn. Point system for this "event" was 10
points for successful application of just one type of
makeup, 5 points for complete removal, and minus 2 points
for either application of too much makeup or incomplete
removal.
Amazingly, Connie was the champ. He got it right, first
time. So now the cumulative scores were Connie in the lead
by 5 1/2 points. Fortunately, May pulled up into the double
digits for once and Chelsea was at the bottom of the list
for always making one tiny mistake. By the time Chelsea
actually got it right, the other boys were halfway through
their next event, play-acting.
Each boy was given a feminine outfit and told to fill the
role. Connie was a secretary, Chelsea had to play the part
of a swimsuit model, and May was a 1950's housewife. Using
Cubix's hologram creator the living room was transformed
into three separate zones: work zone, pool zone, and
kitchen zone. Also in this holographic exercise were
spectral images of real secretaries and models, and a TV
image of June Cleaver. 15 points for following the motions
perfectly, 5 points off for tripping in heels or not
toweling off.
Connie was again in the lead with 80 points followed by May
and Chelsea tied for second with 60. They moved on to the
final event about color-coordination. This was played out
like a game show. Each boy was asked just one question.
They just had to get it right and sit down. The questions
were long so i won't bore you. Suffice to say, incredibly
so that May got to choose what they would eat for first
lunch.
As they dined on lobster, Abby had the boys eat like girls.
This meant sitting up straight, not slouched over the food,
shoveling it down their throats. Again they had to clean
their clothes. Yet Abby suggested they go for a fly around
the store, partly to get more clothes and to goof off. Four
girls left the dollhouse wearing cheerleading outfits.
They flew around for quite some time, finally landing at a
3-D board game of chutes and ladders, which they played
until second lunch at 3 PM.
Far off, in another galaxy, a machine was booted up. This
was the probability spinner. Using this machine, the
controller could affect any changes on earth he wanted just
by feeding a card into the data input slot. What the aliens
saw was a floating card that read:
Increase time of doll experiment to 1 1/2 months.
Give them anything they desire.
In six weeks we will return them to normal sizes.
'Now we must tamper with their dreams to give them some
surprises."
