I'm writing this in answer to a challenge posed by Paula on the hyper
board. She suggested that Veronica write a swapping story based on
Ronnie's "silly idea." I have written on FM under a different pen name
(and will continue to do so), so there is no need for "nice first
effort" type comments (although other comments would be most welcome).
I have no intention of turning my Veronica persona into a 'real'
author. Here goes...

Sara was so frustrated! She was head cheerleader at Eagle Ridge High
School, and her squad was ranked among the top ten in the state. They'd
won numerous competitions and won the admiration of the townspeople,
but it was hard to get proper recognition from the statewide media when
the football team couldn't win a game. Those guys were pathetic!
The football players were all big, strong, athletic guys. They just
didn't have what it takes to win. It didn't matter how hard the
cheerleading squad worked, these guys, especially the linemen, couldn't
get fired up. Talk about a bunch of losers!
It was Saturday morning and Sara was mourning another big loss by her
beloved Fighting Eagles. Aunt Paula, who was visiting for the weekend,
took notice of her niece's frustration.
"What's the matter, Sara?"
"Oh Auntie, we work so hard to help our team win, but those boys just
won't... or can't... oh, what a bunch of LOSERS! The quarterback takes
a snap and WHAM! He's flat on his back because Billy Watson can't block
some guy that's half his size. Defensively, they're even worse!"
"Is their next game out of town?" asked Paula.
"Yes." replied Sara, "They're playing in Dry Gulch. The cheerleaders
won't be going though, budget cuts in the school district - we only get
bussed to games in our own conference."
"Get your squad over here. I have a plan to give that team a taste of
victory!"
Sara called her friends over. Lori, the coach's daughter, was asked to
bring the football team's play book along. Cindy, Heather, and Gina
rounded out the squad. They spent the weekend studying the play book,
learning blocking assignments and defensive lineups, and practicing in
Sara's back yard, all under the guidance of Aunt Paula. During the
week, the girls spent more time watching the football team practice
than they spent on their own drills. By Friday, the girls knew the
plays better than the guys on the team!
When it was time for the weekly pep rally, each starting player would
be hugged by a cheerleader, with the linemen being hugged last. When
Sara walked up to Billy Watson, she kissed him on the lips. After a
moment of disorientation, Sara was looking down at herself from Billy's
perspective. Billy's eyes widened in horror, looking up at himself and
feeling those powerful arms around his waist.
Sara looked down at Billy and whispered, "We're going to win tonight.
Lori, Cindy, Heather, and Gina are in Dave, Frank, Bob, and Warren's
bodies. You will be having a slumber party at my house with the
cheerleader squad tonight. It's all arranged. My Mom and Aunt Paula
know all about this - Aunt Paula's a witch. The spell only lasts 24
hours, but the transition is much less disorienting if we're close when
it occurs. We'll all meet at Mickey's Soda Shop tomorrow afternoon at
1:00, a little less than 24 hours from now. Since you play like a girl,
you should enjoy being a girl for a day."
After the rally, a dazed Billy and his friends walked 'home' from
school, to Sara's house. They were met at the door by Aunt Paula, who
escorted them into the living room. They would be strictly supervised
at this 'slumber party', with no opportunity to explore their borrowed
femininity. Sara was adamant about this when Paula proposed the mind
swap.
Sara and the team climbed aboard the bus, waving at the sparse group of
well wishers half heartedly cheering as they saw the team off. It was a
two-hour ride to Dry Gulch.
In the locker room, the girls were careful not to look too closely at
the naked, hard bodied young men. Sara had a little trouble getting
Billy's penis to hang correctly in the jock strap. And that cup - yuck!
With everyone dressed, Coach Anderson discussed the game plan, and gave
a very inspirational pep talk to his team. They went out to the field
for warm-ups, came back to the locker room, received last minute
instructions, and awaited their introduction to the fans of Dry Gulch.
The Fighting Eagles entered to polite applause and a smattering of
boos, just like a home game. When the Dry Gulch Dragons came on the
field, the crowd erupted to thunderous applause. Sara noticed the
Dragonette cheerleader squad. They were happy and inspired, and why
not? Their team actually won a few games.
The Dragons won the toss, so Sara's team had to kick off. Sara hadn't
planned on being on the kicking team, but there she was, filling
Billy's shoes just right of the kicker. The kick was up. Sara ran down
the field with her eye on the runner. He was just about in her grasp
when a crushing blow came from the right, sending Sara headlong into
the turf. Now Billy would have gotten up slowly, but Sara sprung to her
feet instantly, quickly catching the zig-zagging runner from behind. He
was down on his own 35.
The game continued, with both teams playing hard. Like Sara, Lori and
the other girls played to win. Their efforts put the team in a position
to do just that. There were 15 seconds left in the fourth quarter,
fourth down and two for the Eagles from the Dragon twelve yard line,
with the Dragons ahead 14 to 10. Gina snapped the ball to quarterback
Brad Whitman and Brad handed the ball off to running back Steve Harris.
Sara pulled from her right guard position, crossing to the left side of
the line just as the left side linebacker penetrated the hole. Sara
flattened him and Harris got by, running twelve yards for the
touchdown! The Eagles Win!
Saturday morning, Sara woke up with a start. She hurt all over. What a
game! It was already 11:00, so she jumped in the shower, dressed, and
headed out the door to Billy's car. It was a half hour drive to town,
and the change would occur in an hour and a half.
When Sara arrived at the Soda Shop, the other girls were already there.
So was Coach Anderson. "You girls did a fine job last night." said
Coach. The girl's jaws all dropped, except for Lori's.
"Hey, how do you think I got my hands on the play book?" said Lori.
"Dad was in cahoots with Sara's Aunt Paula all along."
"She's right." said Coach. "I did everything I could to inspire
those... these, guys. So did you girls. They have the ability. They
just won't use it. Maybe now, after you girls borrowed their bodies and
did what they wouldn't, they'll see the light."
The boys finally arrived, in the girl's bodies, with their heads hung
low. "Cheer up, guys." said Sara, "You won!"
Billy looked up at Sara, ashamed. "Coach showed us the video of the
game this morning. You played better than I ever did."
"That's because I play to win, Billy. If you do the same, we'll really
have something to cheer about."
Sara felt a brief moment of dizziness and was now looking up at Billy,
glad to be herself again. "Next week is Homecoming, Billy. We'll cheer
for you, but you have to at least try to WIN for us!"
"We'll do better than that, Sara," responded Billy, with an intensity
he'd never before shown. "We're gonna kick ass!"
