He just finished making the last egg sandwich and placing the four plates on the tables with two sandwiches on each when all three of the others came into the hallway from three different doors. he was sitting down eating and it wasn't until all three had looked at him with sleep filled eyes with looks of puzzlement that he realized how he was dressed but he kept his face passive and said in his best female voice "I made each of you two eggs each, I hope you like them" and his statement was met by grunts of agreement from all three of them and it was until they had all finished and Joe had taken all the plates to the dishwasher and got back to the table that the three adults looked at Joe and actually were awake enough to really notice him. Joe saw that they were looking at him but he also saw that they didn't really recognize him so it didn't amaze him when Jake said "umm, who are you?" "My name is Emily Elizabeth Ley, didn't my brother tell you about me?" "I've heard that name before, who's your brother Emily?" Emmy asked "Oh you don't have to call me Emily my brother calls me Liz so you can to" "Ok Liz who is your brother?" "My brother is Joe of course. He didn't tell you about me?" Joe pouted when he said the second part "No he didn't, wait did you say Joe as in Joe Hensley?" "Yup that's him but he doesn't like to be addressed like that he says 'I might have been born a Hensley but that doesn't make me one' I don't know why he has a problem with that though you have to ask him yourself" "How can you be Joe's sister Liz?" "I dunno it just happened that way, why is there a reason why I can't be?" "Yes, you can't be his sister because he only has one sister and that's me!" hearing that statement almost made Joe loose his composure and give himself away but he quickly replied "if you're his sister then how come Joe never told me about you?" at that point he saw Jessica and Jake staring at him and despite himself smiled at them and blushed "Because he only knew me for six months when our mother gave him away and that evil woman Catherine took him from me!" "Wow, he always knew that he belonged somewhere else. But I'm still his sister" "I told you he only has one sister!" "only one that you know about but when my mommy sent me away because she didn't love me anymore Joey said that he would be my brother and take care of me and protect me and when I asked what he wanted in return he just said that he wanted me to let him protect me so that is how I became his sister" "I'm sorry I had no idea" "Of course not Joe wouldn't have told you why we were brother and sister because he doesn't like to talk about it." "Why not?" "Because he doesn't want to remember that his real mommy did the same thing to him" Joe said because he was starting to remember a brief period of happiness that was shattered by an immense darkness punctuated by him screaming 'please Emmy don't leave me! I need you' which caused him to break into tears "What's wrong Liz?" But Joe barely heard her because he was reliving the scene of being taken away and he started screaming for real but still in his girl voice "no please don't go! Emmy don't go! I'll be good! Emmy please, I need you!" hearing this sent cold chills up and down Emily's body and as she too began to remember the scene that Joe who she thought was Liz was reliving she screamed "I don't want to leave you! I'll find you no matter where you go! I love you! Don't forget me!" And Joe replied in a scream as well "I won't forget you! I love you too! Emmy please stay I need you!" Jessica and Jake sat there stunned by the two Emily's screaming "What is happening Jessy?" Jake asked "I'm not sure but if I had to guess they are both remembering the time when Emily and Joe were separated as kids" Jessica told him "but Liz there is being just as vivid as Emily it's almost like it was her and not Joe" Just then Joe and Emily came back to themselves but before anyone could speak Joe ran to his room jumped into the bed and cuddled to a bear about half his size. In the kitchen Jake asked "what was that about Emma?" "I don't know for sure but she used the exact words that my brother used twelve years ago and I heard the same pain in her voice as I did so long ago in Joe's" "whatever that was it wasn't an act and it means that this little girl was at least there somehow and Joe does remember you he just doesn't want to think about it because he feels obviously abandoned and Liz from the looks of it shares a bond of some sort with Joe and they both must feel the emptiness that I felt from her" Jessica told both Emily and Jake "well all I know is that little girl needs someone that loves her as much as Joe does and right now Joe is missing and she is the only one who might be able to find him" Jake said and with that they all went into the bedroom to find Joe who they thought was Liz in the fetal position holding onto a bear and crying "Go away!" Joe said "Liz hun we need to know where Joe is" Emily said "Why so you can leave us again?" "Liz I never knew you and I never ever wanted to lose Joe the first time and if I lost him again my heart would break" "You did too know me Ben I was there the whole time" "How do you know that name?" "Who's Ben" both Jessica and Jake said together "Emmy is Ben!" Joe screamed "Who told you that name?!" Emily screamed getting angry "See you did forget us you made us promise not to forget about you and then the first chance you get you forget about us! I told Joe that you would told him that nobody loved us but each other!" "Don't say that I love my brother and I never forgot about him not for a second I have always thought of him" "Well I'm glad that you love and think so much about a lie Ben! But then again you always were good at convincing yourself that lies were true!" "What are you saying?" by this time Jessica had figured out that Joe was Liz and vice versa but she knew that she couldn't tell Emily because Joe needed to have Emily figure it out by herself, so instead she grabbed Jake's hand and pulled him out the door. Once in the hallway she shut the door and Jake said "what the hell is going on Jessica, who the heck is Ben, who is that girl, and why is she treating Emma like Emma did something to her?" "what is going on is that those two in there are sisters but they weren't always, Emma is Ben or at least was, that girl is like I said Emma's sister, and the reason Liz is treating Emily so badly is that Emily did tell her not to forget her but then Emily obviously forgot Liz and that is breaking the poor girls heart" Jessica replied "wait a minute, I already know about Emma and how she used to be a boy like you and how I used to be a girl but how would a twelve year old recognize her and know about the past and know Emma boyhood name?" "because twelve years ago Emma was twelve herself and at that time she was still a he named Ben by his parents but since he never told them about himself the only person that knew about Emily sue Hensley is Ben's little brother who knew his real name but refused to call her anything but Emmy and since he loved his brother he decided to come with his own fem name can you guess what that name was?" "No how could I?" "Robert Joe Hensley was only half a year old and a genius but he couldn't talk very well his fem name was Emily Lizbeth Ley because he couldn't pronounce the whole thing as Emily Elizabeth Hensley" "Are you serious? That little girl in there is the boy that looked like a twenty year old when I picked him up?" "remember Emma told us that his body would go back to looking like his actual age and he did his makeup and clothes and he obviously is like his sister and let me tell you he is an amazing actor so I believe if Emma didn't accidentally make him remember what he was repressing he would of gone on fooling us until we caught him so that he would have to explain as a consequence for being caught or until he could change back without raising suspicion because he is in hiding and that is also why he had that attack in the other room me and Emma would have too if we thought we would be stuck there like he did" back in the room after Jessica and Jake left Joe said "I am saying that if you really loved me like you said that you did you would have come for us sooner but no you never came and you never contacted us and you let them try to kill me and if it wasn't for Joe they would have succeeded but Joe promised to let out to play when he turned twenty but when you called and he answered I knew who you were the moment I saw you but Joe had no clue he didn't even know your face because it would have hurt him too much to know you so I remembered and he didn't" "How could you remember me if we never met?" "You're breaking my heart you know that? I begged Joe to just let me forget like I knew that you would but he said no that if I forgot then he would lose me" "How would he lose you if you forgot me?" "Because with out you I wouldn't exist Ben." "Why do you keep calling me Ben?" "Because that is your name! Joe called you Emmy not me I wanted to but I wasn't allowed to so now that I can do what I want and Joe can't stop me I will call you Ben" "But why?" "because I want you to know how it feels to be called a name that you know is not really your name but because of the way you look they won't believe you when you tell them your true name and the one person who does know both of your names who you thought loved you won't call you by the correct one" "I don't know you, we never met before" Joe finally fed up with Emily said in a little kids voice "Emmy do not call me Joey anymore it isn't my name. You want to know what my name is. My name is Emily Lizbeth Ley" and with that Emily finally remembered the persona that her little brother had come up with so that he and her could be closer together "Joey, is that you?" "THAT ISN'T MY NAME ANYMORE! JOE IS DEAD! I WON'T GO AWAY AGAIN AND I WON'T LET HIM COME BACK!" Liz screamed which caused Jessica and Jake to rush back in "oh Lizzy I am so sorry of course I remember you now and I am sorry that you had to remind me I haven't seen you in years and that is why my mind pushed you into the back" "So I can stay?" "Of course you can" "Promise not to send me away again?" "Never again" "Ok then I forgive you for forgetting me and I want you to know that I never once forgot you or our promise to always be sisters" "I didn't forget either Lizzy my brain just hid it from me like you hid it from Joe" "That's not nice of your brain but that's ok as long as it gave it back" "I have a favor to ask of you Lizzy" "Yes I forgive you enough to allow you to come over here and let me be your Lizzy bear again" "Thank you so much" and with tears in her eyes Emily crawled into the bed with Liz and held onto her as they both fell asleep and that was the last time any part of Robert Joe Hensley was ever saw again because Jessica who is a doctor gave Liz a shot and performed the gender reassignment surgery and Jessica and Jake took care of their two friends until they woke up from the coma that they had both slipped into and when they woke up Jessica and Jake through Lizzy a birthday party and gave her her new legal paperwork and Jake took her female virginity with the help of Jessica and they had a wonderful summer. Epilogue me and Lizzy start school this august and we'll be in the twelfth grade at age sixteen and I'll get to be the luckiest guy in the whole school cusp Lizzy promised to be my girlfriend from now on because I was her first friend when she first began at the all girls school that I was going to and she and her sister saved my life but that is a totally different story. Author's note this is one of my many fantasies that I have thought of and I liked it so much that I decided to put it in writing and it says chapter one because I might decide to tell the story of how I met Joe and the gift he or I should say she as Lizzy gave to me and as always give me a review to tell me if I should or not and please do not criticize my obviously bad grammar cuz I flunked English in school and I know that I use a lot of run-on sentences and I also know that this is one of them but it is really hard for me to choose points to stop my writing so e- mail me at [email protected] if you feel like it just to tell me how you feel about my stories.
