Salads Part 1?

I was so taken aback I didn't know what to say, I still don't know if I
said anything at all. But at 5 minutes before noon, I was at a table at
Wendy's waiting and hoping she would show up. I'm sure many people have
sat at fast food restaurant tables waiting for people, but I'm sure none
have ever been as nervous as I was that day. I was fairly certain she had
no intention of showing up. I figured she was just playing a joke on me to
see how long I would actually wait. But I was willing to wait all day,
just on the off chance that she might actually be there. I even told my
boss I had errands to run at lunch and might be late returning. That way,
I could wait at that table well past 1:00 and still have time to eat when
she didn't show up.
At 12:45, my patience was rewarded. I saw Veronica walking across the
parking lot in those same gorgeous heels. I was too in awe to even move. I
just watched her walk toward the table (the table I was sitting at!); my
