Report #136 - The Shredmill 3000
Terry's Story
"Sign here Mr. Davis" said the courier as he and his team rolled in a
giant package. It was the beginning of spring and it was the time of
year in which gym memberships increased due to the summer being around
the corner and everyone wanting to get in shape to look good on beaches,
or at least trying to. Terry Davis looked out across his gym, Forever
Fit, at the various early arrivers who came in to get a morning workout.
On the wall near a window all the treadmills were lined up and in the
far corner, there was a space for the new package.
Terry signed the courier's documentation of delivery and told the
delivery guys where they can set up the new device. Terry thought back
to the advertisement he saw in a local advertisement targeted towards
gym owners about a new experimental treadmill that was supposed to have
guaranteed results for any who use it. The Shredmill 3000, as it was
known, was still in the experimental phase, so for the cost of the
device, the company, New Age Technologies, offered to pay back the cost
of the machines if anyone who bought the machine was unsatisfied in the
long run. Terry sighed to himself knowing that this was a win-win deal
for him because if it did work, then people would talk about his gym and
the results they gained there which could lead to future advertisement
and ultimately more members. If it didn't work, he would be able to
receive the money he invested back and there was no loss.
It took the delivery guys about 15-20 minutes to unpack and setup the
machine in its allocated spot. After they left, Terry walked over to
the machine to get a closer look at it. At first glance it looked like
any other treadmill, with the usual settings and instructions for how to
run it as well as a mounted tv monitor which seemed to be the latest
trend so that people can get a workout while watching whatever they
wanted.
As Terry approached the machine, the monitor lit up and words appeared
on the screen that said "Grab on to heart rate monitor to begin." "Well
no time like now to give this machine a shot," Terry thought to himself
and he reached up to grab the bars while stepping onto the machine. A
blinking heart appeared in the middle of the screen for a few seconds.
Shortly afterwards the screen flashed a logo for New Age Technologies,
followed by another logo for the Shredmill 3000. As the screen faded to
black, a voice came on. "Welcome to the Shredmill 3000 where we shred
away the unwanted stuff to give you the body you have always wanted."
Terry was like most people in that there were things he would change
about his physique, however, he didn't think he was too bad off. As the
owner of a gym, you couldn't appear to be too out of shape as that
didn't send a good message to his gym.
The monitor slowly began to show an image of Terry, shirt off and in a
pair of gym shorts. It even had his scar from when he had his appendix
removed years ago as well as a few other marks and moles located on his
person. "Interesting," Terry thought, "this thing must have a good
camera like on the Kinect or something", although Terry didn't remember
seeing one. On the right side of the image on the screen, a few options
appeared next to a set of buttons. The options in order were, Height,
Weight, Age, Physique, and Attributes. Terry was currently 5' 9" and
weighed in at 240 pounds which wasn't too terrible but it was obvious he
wasn't in the best of shape. Terry proceeded with his experience on the
Shredmill and selected the first option, Height.
On the left side of his image, there appeared a scrollable bar which
ranged anywhere from 2'all the way up to 8' with a bar on his current
height of 5' 9." In small print under his image, text appeared that
said "5 minutes per inch." Terry always wondered what it would be like
to be taller. The feeling of being able to see over people when
standing in a crowd for a sporting event, or even being able to stand
out in a crowd. When he was younger, he thought he was going to be
pretty tall as he hit 5' 9" in 8th grade. Unfortunately, he never grew
another inch and he went from being one of the tallest kids in his class
to being one of the shortest by the time he graduated high school.
Terry didn't want the changes to appear to drastic, so he slid the bar
from 5'9" to 6'1", slightly above the average height for males today in
the US. A small timer appeared on screen that showed 20 minutes and a
confirm button. Terry pressed the confirm button and the monitor
shifted to show him the original options again with his image looking a
little taller on screen.
The next thing Terry wanted to experiment with was the weight option so
he reached out and touched it. Next to his image another slider
appeared giving him the same look as before but this time it went as low
as 100 pounds and all the way up to 400 pounds with the current position
being on his weight of 240 pounds. Again, below his image there was
smaller text which said "1 minute per 5 pounds." Terry always wanted to
get back below 200 pounds and close to his high school weight. After
deciding on a weight, Terry reached out and adjusted the slider to be
190 pounds. After doing so, a timer appeared that said 25 minutes as
well as a confirm button. Terry once again pressed the confirm button
and the monitor shifted back to the original options. This time his
image looked like a much lighter version of himself, not much fat, and
even a little bit of muscle definition such as in his abs and chest.
The timer in the corner updated to show the combination of the two times
for a total of 45 minutes. The next option Terry decided to press was
the Age option.
As the monitor adjusted, the same look appeared once again this time
with an age scale going from 10 years to 100 years old with his current
age of 40 selected. While this age wasn't too old, it did put him in a
bracket where most of the women he would date were either divorced, had
kids who were teenagers, or they were just plain weird. He figured he
could go back to an age where he was in his prime, and the ladies would
fawn all over him. Below his image, the text appeared that said "1
minute per year." He adjusted the scale to 25 years of age. 15 minutes
appeared in the corner next to a confirm button, and again, as before,
it brought Terry back to the main page. His image shifted back to his
look from 25 years ago, albeit a much taller and skinnier version than
he had ever been. His skin seemed tighter and he seemed to have a
little more of a glow around him. The timer in the corner showed an
updated total time of 60 minutes. Terry figured that was enough changes
for now. Beneath all the options, a final button appeared that said
"Begin Shred" and Terry pressed it which started the treadmill to
moving.
The initial pace of the treadmill was slow. It was a leisurely pace and
at first Terry had his doubts that this would even work. Over the
course of 20 minutes, Terry began to notice little changes, where before
the monitor was at eye level, now he had to look down a little to see
it. At the 20 minute mark, the machine flashed a message briefly that
said, "Change 1 of 3 complete." It was at this point the treadmill begin
to pick up a little more speed which placed Terry at a slight jog.
Terry started to regret being out of shape after the first few seconds
of this pace, but he was determined to complete the workout. After
about 5 minutes, Terry felt like he was gaining a little bit of energy.
He began to feel a little lighter on his feet, which allowed him to
continue on. Over the course of the next 25 minutes, Terry could see
his weight dropping and towards the 45 minute mark, Terry had to
actually hold up his shorts with one of his hands as they were
practically falling off of him. The screen flashed with another message
that said "Change 2 of 3 complete." For the last leg of the workout,
the treadmill slowed back down to a walking speed, and the incline
slowly began to rise, although not that high. Although Terry was out of
breath, he figured that if the first two changes took place, it was
worth it to finish the last leg of the workout. As Terry worked to
finish the last bit of the workout, he noticed that his skin started to
feel a little tighter, and that the head on his hair felt a little
fuller. He could even feel a little bit of his sex drive returning as
his hormones also came back on a little stronger due to him regaining
his youth. Being in a gym full of women who are in skimpy workout
attire only furthered that feeling of renewed vigor for sex. The last
15 minutes of the workout went by very quickly as it became harder for
Terry to focus on his workout. After the remaining 15 minutes of
workout finished, a final message appeared on the screen which said,
"Change 3 of 3 complete. Enjoy the shredded you!"
The treadmill began the process of returning to normal and after Terry
let go of the sensors, the screen put back up the original text for the
next user to know what to do in placing their hands on the sensor.
Terry stepped off the Shredmill, one hand holding on to his shorts, and
looked down at himself in utter amazement. After making his way to the
bathroom, he couldn't help but admire his new self in the mirror. After
doing a few poses in the mirror, and inspecting every element of
himself, Terry changed clothes and returned back to his front office of
the gym. On his way back, there was a beautiful petite woman who walked
in. After catching a glimpse of Terry she flashed him a brief smile.
Terry thought to himself, "why the hell not" and made his way over to
the woman as he was determined to make sure his second go round at this
age wasn't wasted. "Hi, my name is Terry. And you are...?"
