This is my first short story writing attempt as grammar and punctuation
are not my strong points I will apologise now, please let me know what
you think of the story and whether I should try to continue with further
adventures of Veronique.
My name is Veronique Dubois I am a 23 year old blond bombshell 5 foot 10
with a figure to die for 36c-24-36 and I have a successful recording
career with my band Purple Haze, but this was not always the case up
until six months ago I was a middle aged man, my name was Eric Walters,
aged 53, I was 6ft1 tall, a little overweight, losing my hair and had
hardening of the arteries and my doctors told me I needed to have
quadruple heart bypass surgery let me tell you my story
I suppose it all began 9 months ago now when the company I had worked 30
years for Brean & Brean fashion retailers went bust and I was made
redundant along with all of the other employees, like all of my
colleagues I thought we would walk straight into other jobs OH how times
have changed don't get me wrong some of my colleagues did walk right
into other jobs but they were the young women aged 18-25 anyone over that
age seemed to be put on the scrap heap of life.
Over the next 12 weeks I pounded the streets looking for any type of work
but I kept getting told we are not hiring anybody at the moment due to
the economic downturn and as I had always worked in sales more to the
point I had always worked in the menswear department of Brean & Brean, I
decided I would cast the jobs net further afield even if it meant the
dreaded commute into work everyday so I caught the Northern line
Underground from my home in Edgware Middlesex to Tottenham Court Road in
central London I had decided to try my luck along Oxford Street to see if
I could get a job there, after 4 hours I had gone up one side of the
street and down the other and still no chance of getting work as it was
approaching 1pm I decided to go get some lunch somewhere I found a small
caf? on Wardour Street were I decided to splash out and have the chicken
salad with coffee as I sat there contemplating my lack of job prospects,
my age, and my poor health I thought to myself Oh to be 22-23 years old
again,fit, healthy and full of life I could have taken the world by
storm, my band at the time was just on the verge of making it, but my
parent said I was to get a proper job which is how I ended up in sales I
honestly wish I had followed my dreams and carried on with the band, if
only I thought.
Just then I happened to look out of the window of the caf? and noticed a
shop New Style, New Look, New you. I could have sworn blind it wasn't
there when I came into the caf? as I paid for my lunch I ask the owner if
the shop had always been there he said "it comes and goes like most
businesses times are hard" you can say that again I have been looking for
work for the last 12 weeks without any luck "maybe your luck is about to
change why don't you give them a try they are only here to help usually
with excellent results" I will I said as I left the caf? thank you, as I
crossed Wardour Street to get to the shop, New Style, New Look, New You.
I still had the feeling the shop had not been there when I had arrived at
the caf?, but in for a penny as the saying goes I'll give them a try as I
reached out and took hold of the doors handle my world went black.
As I began to come around I heard someone saying "she's coming round" I
thought they were talking about someone else as I slipped back into
unconsciousness when I came to again which only seemed like a few minutes
to me I heard the same female voice saying "she's coming around again" as
I approached full consciousness that's when I felt the long hair on my
pillow and the weight on my chest and I had a feeling of emptiness
between my legs I frantically started to feel my body and let out a
piercing scream as I realised I had breasts and what felt like a vagina
between my legs, a women rushed up and said quiet little one we will
explain it all to you in a short while, with that I passed out again.
As I started to come round for the third time someone was holding my hand
and saying "stay calm little one all will be explained in a little while
but first you must eat"when I opened my eyes it was then I realised that
the person holding my hand was the caf? owner how I ask "after you eat he
said" after eating the meal which consisted of some sort of meat broth
with crusty bread and drinking some water I ask how again.
Let me first introduce myself I am Rowan and my wife over there is
Primrose pointing to his wife who said welcome back to the world of the
living you have been unconscious on and off for 2 days we were beginning
to get a little worried about you but I will let my husband explain it
all to you.
As I said I am Rowan, "my wife and I belong to a race of Faerie that live
in this world" you expect me to believe that crap! with that Rowan and
Primrose shrank down until they were approximately 6 inches tall and they
both had wings sprouting out of there backs OK I believe you with that

turned into Wardour Street, if you remember someone ask you if you could
give them directions this was a diversionary tactic on my and my wife's
part while the caf? had finished materializing once you entered the caf?
my wife and I realised how tortured your soul was" why was my soul in
torment I ask "let me explain only men with a female soul and wishing for
change can find our caf? and shop, unbeknownst to you, you have a very
beautiful, strong female soul who was crying for release you also wished
while you were sitting in the caf? that you could be 22-23 years old
again fit, healthy and full of life you also wished you had carried on
with the band you had, and had not followed your parents wishes, so you
gave it all up and ended up in the job you had up until 12 weeks ago" but
why did you turn me into a female I ask "that was not our doing that was
the buildings work it sensed your true female soul and realised you would
be far happier as a female then a younger version of your male self it
sensed your cross dressing as a child and your anguish of not knowing
your sexuality, the reason you never married, your confusion of kissing a
women and it felt wrong to you, also kissing a man even though it felt
natural to you, being male yourself denied you that truth, there was also
another reason here watch this" he pulled a screen out of the wall he
said the pictures you are seeing would have been the next 10 weeks of
your life as I watched I saw myself getting deeper and deeper into
despair about not been able to find a job then in my home one night I
collapsed in my bathroom clutching my chest then the pictures stopped
what happened next I ask "do you really want to know" yes "you died on
your bathroom floor and your body was not discovered for 3 weeks.
So who am I now?

storm with your pop band, all we ask of you is, that if you ever come
across a troubled and tormented man who's soul you know, and you will

the memories of my previous life were overwritten with a lifetime of
memories for Veronique.
