"I'm a wizard," the shopkeep explained. "It's my job to know who my
customers are and what they want. And I think I have the prefect item
for you." He pulled a corked vial containing a clear liquid from under
the counter. "This potion will make you into what you are."
Peter gave the wizard a mean glare. "Yeah, right. You're just trying to
con me into buying a fancy glass of water!"
"No, I'm not," he responded. "All of the artifacts are true magic. They
do work. Let me show you." He took a bottle of pink liquid from the
shelf behind Peter's head, and poured it onto his hand. Instantly, the
wizard's hand turned younger and feminine, with long, well-manicured
nails. Then he snatched the blue liquid next to it, and restored the
hand to its former elderly masculine state. "Still doubt the power of
true magic?"
Peter could only stare, dumbfounded, and then commented, "I guess not.
But what did you mean by saying it would turn me into 'what I am'? That
makes no sense."
"Well," the old man said, "it takes the three qualities most closely
associated with your soul, your true essence, and makes you into the
ultimate version of that. For example, if your personality is associated
with strength, you would become able to knock out Superman with one
blow."
This idea made Peter doubt his own sanity. What in the world could this
crazy asshole mean by all this? And how could the spell know what
qualities are most closely associated with him? But he was bored, and
didn't have anything else to do, so he just decided to play along with
the old moron. "How much does it cost?"
"Twenty dollars," the wizard noted. "But I don't think you can afford to
pass up this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."
Peter sighed. Looks like he wasn't going out to dinner at Hooters
tonight, after all. "OK, you miserable bastard," he sighed, breaking out
his wallet. "Here you go."
The old man took the money and smiled. "Have a nice day, Peter."

with a hand wave as he left the store.

try the lunatic's potion. He pulled out the cork and took a sip.
"Not bad," Peter thought. "It's certainly not just boring old water. In
