USAGE (setting the form):
Imagine the form that you wish the soap to "create" when next used.
While holding this image in your mind, tap the soap three times and then
blow on it.
You will know that the new form for next use has been set when a small
spark shoots out of the soap.
USAGE (activation):
When applied with water or moisture, the form of the user will instantly
transform into that of the soap's last form setting.
PROPERTIES:
* Runs out like a normal bar of soap does.
* Even if unused, it will disintegrate over the course of one cycle of
the seasons (one year).
* Has as many "uses" in it as it takes for the soap to run out or it
naturally expires/disintegrates.
* When the bar of soap runs out, there's a little spark and it appears in
another random place on the earth (not underwater) within an approximate
500 mile radius of where it was last.
* If the soap is broken up, then it won't reappear until the last piece
of the bar has been used or dries up over the course of one cycle of the
seasons (one year).
HISTORY:
In 2800 bc, in ancient Babylon, there were two brothers.
It is said that the eldest, Berosus, was famed as a great artisan of the
City, not only for creating many of the city's beloved statues of
deities, but for inventing and selling the first bars of soap.
The younger brother, Belteshazzar, was a failure in almost every aspect
of his life and jealous of his older brother Berosus. Belteshazzar lives
a near-invisible life in his brother's shadow, practically forgotten by
everyone, including Berosus himself. The only bright aspects of
Belteshazzar's life are playing the occasional practical joke (usually to
get the attention of Berosus), and his thus far failed efforts attempting
to dabble in the art of magic and chemistry (the latter half of which we
now know as a branch of science).
One day Berosus, with much arrogance, commands Belteshazzar to clean his
house because his maid/servant has been executed for refusing his sexual
advances and he has not yet found a replacement.
In retaliation, Belteshazzar attempts to play a practical joke on Berosus
by infusing a bar of his soap with magical properties as per the
instruction inscribed on a then-centuries-old stone tablet that he had
stolen from a travelling gypsy some years earlier. The idea behind the
practical joke is to temporarily turn Berosus into a maid in retaliation
for his previous demands that he perform one of the maid's duties.
By some massively improbable luck, the younger brother somewhat succeeds
in his invention. Upon finishing the incantations upon the soap,
Belteshazzar follows the final instruction with a mixed feelings of both
hope and excitement. He forms an image of his brother's former maid in
his mind, then taps the bar of soap three times and blows on it. A
little spark leaps from the bar causing Belteshazzar to flinch a little,
and the stone tablet next to him crumbles to a small mound of dust.
One afternoon atop the oceanside cliffs wear Berosus lives, Belteshazzar
secretly replaces the soap in Berosus' bath house and hides in the room
waiting for his brother to lather himself in soap. Shortly after,
Berosus enters to take his afternoon bath. After relaxing in his
soothing warm bath for several minutes, Berosus reaches for his bar of
soap. Belteshazzar's eyes widen, grinning in anticipation. Berosus rubs
the soap on his arm. In less than a second, Berosus' form shifts into an
exact duplicate of the voluptuous maid he had turned in for execution the
previous week. Ecstatic that his magic worked, Belteshazzar leaps out
from hiding shouting "Ha!" as he points at the voluptuous woman now
sitting in the bath looking down at her voluptuous body in stunned
silence. Still grinning widely, Belteshazzar composes himself as best he
can and mockingly commands his brother to clean his own house now that HE
is the maid. Borosus' anger quickly surpasses his initial shock and,
after exiting the bath and wrapping his now-ample bosom in a towel, a
very loud argument starts up between the two. Amid the shouting,
Belteshazzar explains about the soap and the practical joke at which
point Berosus throws the bar at him in anger. However, the soap misses
Belteshazzar and flies out of the window and into the ocean far below.
Belteshazzar is incredibly disappointed because he neglected to memorise
all of the tablet's inscriptions and will never be able to make it again.
As they both tire from arguing, Belteshazzar explains that according to
his rough interpretations, he was convinced that one of the MANY
properties of this magic is that the effects will wear off overnight.
Berosus is too tired to express the concern this raises around his faith
in his brother's magic skills and ability to interpret an ancient text so
they retire to his main house.
The next morning they awake to find that Berosus is still a woman and a
ferocious argument starts up once again. Unfortunately, a passing troupe
of the King's soldiers overhear the commotion and stop to investigate.
Upon entering the dwelling, one of the guards "recognises" Berosus as the
woman he had turned in for execution the previous week. They assume that
Belteshazzar has interfered with the arrest and gone into hiding with the
maid... a crime that is also punishable by death. With only the mad
rantings of "the maid" and Berosus' nothing of a brother, the guards
choose to execute them on the spot rather than share their rations on the
trip back to the city centre for a formal execution. Without Berosus
there to pardon his brother, the guards throw Belteshazzar and "the
woman" over the cliff to their deaths.
The soap, after floating around the base of cliffside for a few weeks,
eventually dissolves and sends a small spark up into the air as it does
so. In the same instant, the magic bar of soap materialises in a public
bathhouse in a neighbouring kingdom. It continues to be disappear and
reappear around the world throughout the following centuries, in a sense,
carrying on its creator's legacy of mischief.
