Halfway through the show is the famous song, "A Secretary Is Not a Toy".
Derek and I were background dancers for this scene. He a businessman and
me the secretary. The song was preceded by a typewriter scene with the
main five secretaries. Every time we ran the painfully long typewriter
scene, Derek and I waited backstage for our cue. We entered through one
of the center doors of the set. It was supposed to look like we were
entering from a hallway, when in reality, it was the boss's office for
his scenes. When Derek and I were in this office, it was mostly dark,
but our eyes adjusted to what little light we had. The first time we ran
this scene, I almost overheated from embarrassment. We were so close to
each other and definitely tried to prevent things from being weird,
which made things weirder. Derek and I did what any sensible teenagers
would do in that situation, we played on our phones and ignored each
other. Eventually we were caught by the director. We heard him through
the set.
"Hey center door dancers, we can see your phones glowing out here. I
know it's boring but you have to put em away."
The other kids giggled. The blood rushed through my cheeks. Back to
square one.
The next few rehearsals weren't as bad. In the darkness and silence,
Derek and I would try to make each other laugh. We did this to keep our
sanity. This became our game and I was beginning to enjoy it.
Over weeks of rehearsal, the game slowly escalated until we reached our
first dress rehearsal.
At this point, we memorized every second the damn typewriter scene.
Crystal always overacted this one line. It drove us crazy. One
particularly long Thursday rehearsal, Derek and I were getting delirious
in our dark little office. Without missing a beat, Crystal screeched,
"Well that's not MY problem!" She was going for laughs, but got zero
with that nasal delivery.
I silently laughed and pretended it was the funniest thing I'd ever
heard. I put my hand on the set and started rolling on the wall. I could
tell Derek was enjoying my antics, so I kept going. I rolled and laughed
like a crazy person. I was now very driven. It felt like a win if Derek
laughed out loud when we were supposed to be silent. It sounds so
stupid, but I wanted that moment for some reason. So I rolled and made
big silly movements to show how much I was laughing. Soon, I rolled over
to the desk he was leaning on. I still wasn't totally used to the heels
I was wearing and stumbled right onto Derek's body. I felt myself get
flush, but couldn't let him know. I had to pretend I rolled to him on
purpose and it was simply part of my joke. I doubled down on my
physicality. I rested on him and leaned my upper body forward in fake
laughter. I then reeled back and leaned my whole back against his torso.
This was risky, what the hell was I doing? I was a secretary possessed.
I wanted to see Derek laugh out loud and get in trouble. I delighted at
the thought. I flailed about as much as I quietly could and started
falling off his leg. Derek must've noticed me lose my balance with my
heels again and to my surprise... wrapped his right arm around my hip to
catch me.
I resisted the urge to squeak. I knew the stakes in our game might've
gone too far. I put my hand on his hand was suddenly aware of how it
felt stronger than mine.
"CUT!" yelled the director.
Just behind our wall, the mood shifted. We held our position, each of us
too nervous to move. What was our next move? We listened.
"Let's take it from the top, hurry. Places."
Derek and I held still, scared to make a noise. The cast was shuffling
right outside our door. Any one of them could open the door and discover
us at any moment. I couldn't take the tension and turned to face Derek,
his face much closer than I anticipated.
"Okay, get ready. Mark, you're starting us off. Aaaand..."
Derek and I locked eyes and smiled at how crazy our predicament was.
"Action!!"
We both exhaled. The start of the scene meant much more time to process
this. I remained on Derek's lap and decided to clear the air. I leaned
into his ear putting my hand around his back for support. He wrapped his
arm a little further and I whispered as quietly as humanly possible.
"I wanted you to laugh so you'd get in trouble."
"You almost had me actually," his breath tickling my earlobe.
"Really? Dammit. I knew it! I'm definitely getting you next time."
When we finished a whisper, I'd bring my head back a couple inches and
we'd meet eyes. Each time, that distance got a little shorter. Fuck, his
smile was fun to look at.
"I really hope you do." Derek let the last word rest in my ear as he
pulled back. He kept his cheek against mine the whole time he retreated.
He stopped until our lips were achingly close.
And then... Derek kissed me
A wave of electricity shot through me.
My mouth switched to auto-pilot and welcomed his kiss. He kissed me with
a soft passion that melted and jolted my body. I put my right hand on
his chest and turned my whole body to lean in closer. Derek's right hand
remained on my hip as his left grazed my chin and cheek. It was a sweet
touch and I kissed him deeper.
"Well that's not MY problem!" hammed Crystal.
We mentally checked in with the scene time and continued our slow make
out. Derek brought his left hand down to my leg and started massaging
above my knee. I felt my whole body pulse as his strong hand discovered
my sheer tights. I shifted every tiny detail of my posture to give him
more. Our cue was coming up in a minute. Our fun was about to end.
Derek's right hand has wandered down to my butt. Derek gave one long
squeeze of my ass and I almost jumped him right there. His other hand
made its way off my thigh, slowly of course, as Derek finished our kiss.
We composed ourselves and I could not stop looking at his eyes. I would
do anything to freeze time and go back to kissing that sexy face.
I stood up and moved quietly towards the door. Our entrance into the
dance line was a few lines away. Derek positioned behind me like he
normally did, except this time he wrapped his arms around my waist. He
lowered his head next to mine and began kissing my neck.

Derek squeezed me tight and I smiled. He was holding me like I was his
girl. I loved every second of it...

...and apparently he did too. He wrapped me tight and even with my
finest secretarial skirt, I could feel his incredibly hard bulge against
