It's been a month since the evening Lucy told Linus and Kevin. Lucy is
starting to settle into her new life. She filed for a legal name change
as well as her gender marker; she mastered her first period. But she
hasn't heard anything from Kevin and Linus. Ellie was really pissed at

Then she took her phone and started a text for Linus and Kevin. Asking

Ellie hugged her. "It'll be alright, with or without them. If they
can't deal with the situation, they haven't deserved your friendship,
Lucy."
"Yes, it still hurts though. And why do I feel guilty about it?"

"I know, but still."
Linus was the first to react. He left the group conversation.
"Well, that pretty much sums it up," Lucy said with tears in her eyes.
"Forget him. He has proven that he's the biggest asshole, and to be
honest, we were kind of suspecting that already."
"I wonder if Kevin has anything to say though or if he's just like
Linus."
"I think he's just as pathetic as Linus, you should forget them, Lucy.
Look forward, not back. You are such a happy person now. It's so much
fun being with you because your happiness is contagious. And it breaks

Another week passed and Lucy hadn't heard from Kevin. She decided to
call him, but the line was busy. She texted him again, asking directly
if it has something to do with her. She also realized that the former
texts were sent, but not transmitted which made her suspicious. She
went on Facebook and her suspicion was confirmed. His profile was gone,
so he must have blocked her.
She texted Ellie with her discovery and Ellie confirmed the same. She
had been blocked too.
'Guess that makes it official. They are assholes and I have to move
on,' she thought.
One afternoon a couple of weeks later while being at the malls
Starbucks in line Lucy recognized Amber coming in. Lucy's heart stopped
and she froze. But Amber just walked past Lucy and got in line without
really noticing Lucy.
'That bitch isn't recognizing me' Lucy was amazed and a little bit
relieved. She wasn't ready to talk to Amber. She must have blocked her
before Lucy changed her profile picture on Facebook. Lucy turned around
to look if Amber was watching her, but it seemed she was busy looking
on her phone. 'If she's texting Kevin?' Lucy wondered and looked at
Amber again. But she wasn't texting. Just scrolling through her phone.
Lucy texted Ellie right away, telling her about Amber.

back But Lucy wasn't feeling like bitching about Amber via text and

They both laughed for a while and Lucy started feeling better. She was
still hurt and highly disappointed in her 'friends' but it's their loss
and their problem.
With time Lucy got over it and was back at being the happiest person on

in her name and everything else was sorted out too. Dennis was gone and
Lucy was here. Medically everything was in good order as well. Lucy was
healthy. No irregularities were coming up with her bloodwork.
Other people in her life accepted her right away, congratulated her and
even acquaintances became friends now that she was way more outgoing.
One thing though was missing. While she never really longed for a
relationship before, she started longing for one now. And while she was
still attracted to girls, she felt like she wanted a boyfriend. She
wanted to know how it feels to be held while she puts her face in the
chest.
What she didn't like was online dating. She set up a tinder profile but
deleted it after a while. While some guys were quite cute in the looks
department, they all wanted just sex. And Lucy never felt confident
enough to meet with one of them as she usually disliked them after the
first or second message.
She hated how dehumanizing the guys treated her. That's why she got rid

In the time after college, she was still working at the country club
where she met Linus a few years ago, but as he had been fired for being
unreliable before she became officially Lucy there was no danger
bumping into him. Luckily. She doesn't want to see him ever again.
One Friday evening while she was working with Phil at the bar. He was
one-year older, brown hair, muscular, dreamy eyes. She liked him. He
was not only good looking but he was funny and smart. Lucy liked
working with him. And Lucy had to admit that she was crushing a bit on
him. Shortly before they finished their shifts he came to Lucy.
"Hey, Lucy, Uhm... I was wondering... Do you want to go for a coffee

"Are you asking me out?" Lucy tried her best not to blush.
"I guess I do."
"Yes, why not. I would love to, maybe even dinner and maybe a movie"
She smiled.
"Is next Friday okay?" He smiled too. Lucy's heart melt.
"Yes, it is. You picking me up?
"I'll be there at 7."
Lucy rushed home. She had to text Ellie the news.
'Ellie guess what happened. I have a date' she texted full of
excitement.
It didn't take long for Ellie to reply.
'What??? With whom? Tell me everything.'
And Lucy did tell everything about Phil. She described him to Ellie in
a way that Ellie would be able to recognize him without ever seeing him
in person or on a photo.
'what are you going to wear?' came one text.
'Oh my god, I don't know. I think I want my hair done too. And we need
to go to the mall'
'Wednesday?'
'Wednesday!'
Lucy was excited. She was even smiling more than usual. Her Mom asked
her about it.
"What's up with you, you are even more smiley than other days?"
"I'm just happy Mom. And I have a date."
"Oh my, looks like my little girl is spreading her wings."
"I might Mom, I might. But just wait, for now, it's just a date."
"Who's taking you out?"
"Phil. From the country club. He's the cute one with the dreamy eyes. I
think you've seen him once or twice when you were dropping me off
there."
"When's the date?"
"Friday. He picks me up. At 7. And I go to the mall with Ellie
tomorrow. I think I'll be me a cute dress. And I need my hair done. I
want to look cute for Phil."
"Don't you mean sexy? You are already cute."
Lucy blushed at her mom's comment. But in her mind, she had to admit
that her mom had a point. She wouldn't admit it to her face though.
The next day Lucy met Ellie at the mall.
"Where do you want to go first?"
"I don't know. I need a dress. And maybe shoes. And I want to look at
make-up. God, Ellie, I'm so excited."
"I can see that."
"I don't know what to do!"
Lucy had a concerned look in her face
"Lucy, don't worry, It'll be fine and you will have lots of fun. And
it's normal to be nervous before a date. You like him. You've been on
dates before. You can do that.
"But I've never dated a guy."
"Well, just be you. This time it won't feel all wrong for you. You're
the girl this time."
"You're right. I don't have to pretend anything. I'm the girl. I'm
me.."
Lucy had her smile back.
"So, where to?"
"Well, I guess we just start here, walk our way up this side and then
down the other until we're back here."
"Sounds like a plan."
They spend hours browsing through the shops. Lucy looked at everything
as if she were to buy a whole new wardrobe. She ended up with a silver-
grey cocktail dress, new bra and matching panties from Victoria's
Secret some make-up, and 2-inch heels matching the dress. And a purse.
Lucy and Ellie were exhausted. But, mostly Lucy, were happy. They went
to the food court to get dinner.
The next day she went to the hair salon she had been right after her
transformation.
She had just the tips and some highlights done. But she felt great. And
confident. And incredibly excited. She couldn't wait for the next day.
Friday went by super slow. Lucy could have sworn the time went backward
every time she checked the time.
When it was finally time to leave college and go home, she got into the
bathroom to get ready. She spent an eternity on her make-up until she
was satisfied. She had her hair loose on one side a single thin braid
on the other side.
She then got in her dress. And went downstairs into the living room
where her parents were in front of the TV.
"Mom? Can you zip me up?"
"Oh Honey, look at you. You look so beautiful." Her mother was tearing
up at.
"Lucy, you are a wonderful young lady. You are the prettiest girl. I'm
proud of you," her father said.
Lucy blushed at her parents' compliments and twirled for them
"Wait, her mom said. I have a bolero jacket which should suit you just
fine. It might get chilly later and you want to cover your arms in that
sleeveless dress."
"Thank you, mom," Lucy smiled.
"You're ready a bit early. You still have roughly 20 minutes left.."
"I know, I was so afraid I won't be ready in time that I kind of
hurried and I failed at my eye make-up not as much as I thought so I
was much faster anyway."
"Are you nervous Honey?"
"Yes. I am. But I'm also really happy."
The doorbell rang.
"That's him. Love you mom, love you dad." Lucy gave her parents a quick
hug before she went to open the door.
"Lucy, hi... you look beautiful." Phil was clearly taken aback by Lucy.
"Thank you, you look really good tonight as well." She smiled at him.
Phil opened the passenger door for her and acted real gentlemen. Lucy
felt a little less nervous now.
They drove off to a fancy restaurant. Lucy liked the attention she
received from Phil.
But she paid him just as much attention too. He looked handsome in his
suit. She looked in his eyes and felt butterflies in her stomach. The
good kind.
The date was a wonderful evening. Lucy was a little sad when they
arrived back at her house. When she turned towards Phil, she saw that
he came slowly closer. Was he about to kiss her? Does she want to be
kissed? Her mind raced. Yes, she wanted to be kissed. She moved towards
him too and closed her eyes. Their lips met. More butterflies were
released.
Lucy felt good. It felt good. When their lips parted, she opened her

"Good night Phil." Lucy waved at him and went to the door. She looked
back at him, gave him a last smile for the night before she went
inside.
Greeted by her mother Lucy blushed.
"Nice evening wasn't it." She chuckled noting the smeared lipstick on
Lucy's lips.
"It was great, mom. And we'll meet again."
"He's handsome. And seems to be quite nice."
"He is mom, He is," Lucy replied dreamily.
She texted Ellie as soon as she was in her room. Telling her
everything, but especially the kiss.
'Is he a good kisser?'
'I don't know, he was the first guy ever kissed me. So nothing to
compare. But it certainly was one of the best kisses in my life'
'So I guess you want to see and kiss him again.'
'Yes. He's a keeper. And I can imagine going further. Ellie, I think I
have a little more than just a little crush on him.'
'I think you're not just crushing Lucy' The last message had several
smileys and heart emojis attached to it.
Over the next few weeks, Lucy continued to see Phil. And when they
weren't able to see each other, they phoned, they texted. Lucy wasn't
just crushing; she had fallen in love. And she liked every bit of that
feeling.
'I have a boyfriend' she thought. She liked this thought. It made her
smile. She never had been so happy being in a relationship. This time
it felt right.
One morning Lucy's mom told her, that she and her father will be
spending the weekend somewhere in the nature or a spa hotel or
whatever. Lucy didn't pay much attention to their destination. All she
heard was, that she will have the house for herself.
"Mom?"
"Yes, honey?"
"Uhm, do you mind if I invite Phil over?"
"No, not at all. You're old enough to trust, Honey," she said knowingly
and smiled.
Lucy did not hesitate to tell Phil that she will have the house to
herself and that she would be happy if he could come over Friday
evening for pizza and a movie. And she added that her parents aren't
home to give him the hint he should prepare to stay the night.
Friday came and Lucy was excited. Her parents had left in the morning
and she spent the day thinking of what the evening might bring.
When Phil arrived, Lucy swung her arms around his neck and kissed him
deeply.
"Oh, wow," he said while catching his breath.
"I missed you."
"I missed you too, been long two days."
"Then, come on in." Lucy took Phil's hand and led him to the living
room and placed him on the couch.
"You hungry?" she asked him.
"A little bit."
"Okay, I'll order a pizza then. Can you pick a movie? I'll watch
anything as long as I can be with you except for horror movies, they're
always a no go for me."
They settled with "A hitchhikers guide to the galaxy" and enjoyed their
pizza. Lucy had her head on Phil's shoulder and snuggled up to be as
close as possible to him. She loved how he smelled. He held her close.
There wasn't any other way to enjoy a movie more than this. Especially
with the occasional kisses in between.
When the movie was finished Lucy looked at Phil and started kissing
him. It felt great. And it wasn't long before both of their bodies were
on fire.
"What do you think about going to my bedroom?" Lucy asked with big eyes
"Sounds good to me."
They changed to Lucy's room and just went right back to where they left
off in the living room. Lucy never felt like this before. The way Phil

feel like she's betraying feel for not telling him who she is or rather
said who she was. She was afraid of telling him but also wanted him to
know the truth about her.
One evening she finally had the guts to tell him. She told him
everything, how she felt as a child, as a teenager, and about the pill.
To her relief, he did not walk away from her and treated her the way
her 'friends' Kevin and Linus treated her. Instead, he embraced her
softly and said "I don't care. I love you for who you are, if you had
been a green little Alien, I wouldn't mind either. You're a great
person Lucy."
"I love you," she said. Fear was gone and with tears of joy.
