Well, I decided to drop part two of this story publicly (you might remember part one being released just after Christmas last year) but as Part three and four are being released different tiers on my Patreon Tomorrow (sunday), I decided it was time to release part two publicly! I changed things a little for this chapter of the story, you won't see much dialogue, but a description of dialogue, and I also switched to first person. I hope you still enjoy it! Disclaimer: This story is my intellectual property, and should be treated as such, do not plagiarize, or post without permission. If it is not legal to view writings that are sexually explicit and may have themes of bondage, feminization and other 'deviant' sexual experiences: don't read this. Don't read it, if it is not legal to do so where you live. Going any further is of your own free will, and responsibility is solely on yourself. Any similarity to real people or events is highly cliche, horrifying and unintentional... Enjoy! Mistress Dyvia presents: Cost of a Hero part 2 By Mistress Dyvia My name was Malclom, but now it is Mallory, and the world knows me as MarySue, since they see me as the perfect hero. I disagree, but who am I to argue if it intimidates the villains? I sat at the very peak of the mountain, nearly 50 miles from any civilization, and the view was glorious. Because of the curvature of the Earth, in the angle at which I sat atop this mountain, all I saw was green forests and a beautiful sky, wonderful clouds and the moment was perfect. But like all perfect moments, it was interrupted when my phone buzzed. I stood up and pulled it from my back pocket, and glanced at the screen. It was from Stoic, he was busy in South America but he had been alerted that a villain was causing a catastrophe only a hundred miles from where I was. I texted back, 'no problem, on my way.' and with that I let out a sigh that was a goodbye to the view I had. I hit the GPS on my phone, and felt my feet lift off the mountain, defying gravity. With the burst of my own will and speed I propelled myself towards the city. I got a hundred miles in under a second, and yet the perception of time dilation from moving at such speeds made it feel like it was still minutes. Stoic had become my mentor. His powers are very similar, yet very, very different from my own. His body was indestructible, his strength was off the charts as was his speed, he could fly but that was only because of the anti-gravity boots that he had. it was unknown what the source of his power was, I knew what mine was, simply knowing I could do it; confidence. The wind pushed against my face, but I knew it couldn't hurt me, the temperature, the speed, the air displacement, I was so very used to it now and just simply slid along with it enjoying the thrill and enjoying the ride. Once I was within City limits, I was able to use the GPS on the phone to make it right to the villain. When I arrived, he looked at me with annoyance. I think he made some comment about me not being Stoic, and that he wanted the real hero to show up. I looked at him, and with a crack of a smile forming on my cheek, I told him I was confident enough that I could handle him. Clearly, I wasn't as popular as Stoic, and admittedly I generally didn't get involved in the major disputes amongst the villains and heroes nearly as much as he did. For those paying attention, I haven't lost yet, not even close. The man dropped his arms, and it seemed like the asphalt, dirt, and rocks pulled out of the ground itself and wrapped around his arms, and then he launched them at me like two Stone bullets from each arm. I felt the impacts, but they did no harm whatsoever. Again I smirked, and of course like so many others, he cursed. He made the same gesture again, this time a split second before he launched them, they started glowing red hot and as they launched they turned into liquid: magma. I dodged the magma bullets easy enough, and raced to find a metal dumpster, lifted it off the ground and caught the two magma bullets before they hit the ground, and more importantly, before they hit somebody. Now, I was pretty confident I could survive the magma itself, my skin was almost impervious when I was awake. I say almost, because I don't know if it's impervious I just haven't found anything that can penetrate it when I know it's coming at me. But I can't say that my costume is impervious to magma, and I wasn't going to give anyone a free show. He started to make the same gesture again, but this time I shot at him so fast that he was still looking at where I was hovering, and barely registered that I was right in front of his face lifting him off the ground holding his throat at just the right angle where it only took 8 seconds before he fell unconscious. Stoic once told me that he thought I was much more powerful than he was in every way that mattered. But we both agreed to let the world think he was much stronger than me, after all I was still the rookie as far as the hero-slash-empowered community was concerned, so I would not bring all the attention to me to have every wannabe villain target me for the title of the world's strongest. Power enhanced individuals were rare as it was, it was kind of depressing that this seemed to be more immoral individuals hitting the news than there were moral ones. Part of me just hoped that most of the people with powers just liked to keep it to themselves. But who knew for sure? I held him in place until the appropriate authorities arrived. Once they had a suppressor around his neck he was loaded into a transport vehicle, and would be held until his arraignment. I sent a text message to Stoic telling him everything was fine and asked him if he needed help on his end. He said he was fine too. A few hours later I was knocking on the door of my parents place. They happily let me in, they had missed me, there were many hugs to be had and of course a wonderful meal that my father had cooked. It had been about 2 years since I had become a superhero, my life was a little too public for my satisfaction, but I guess you learn to deal with that kind of thing. I had been captured as a young man, held against my will until a girl who is also being held against her will slept with me and by that I mean had sex with me. She had a weird power: anyone that she had slept with would not only change sex, but would develop superpowers. My understanding was that she could usually control which Powers she gave someone, but people with unusual genetic anomalies would come up with strange powers; like mine. I failed to escape with her, but I did escape and promise to be the hero this world deserves like she wanted. I haven't given up on finding her, she could have been a true gift to this world. Dinner with my parents was nice. It really was. Me and my siblings had a little bickering, joking, talking about our favorite television shows or books that we were reading, the usual catch-up stuff. My father, who was a politician, was definitely interested in my exploits and was very complemtative about the fact that I wasn't exploiting my fame. And my mother, as always, was concerned about how I was living as a woman, knowing just how different life was for me now. I had periods, I had breasts, I was a straight guy who is now being fantasized by three- quarters of the men that had an internet connection. I found nudes of myself with a web search, and those were not my tits. I was dealing, but at least I had my good friend Victoria, in fact I was going to see her right after I left my family's place. I left the house, said my goodbyes held some tight hugs but not so tight that I would hurt them, and then I was off to see Victoria. She and I used to be friends in high school and college when I was a guy, she was instrumental to me adjusting to life as a woman. She helped me get over the frustrations of my lack of height, new circumstances, learning fashion and makeup, and not just trying to hide it all behind baggy clothes. Now, because of her, I go out in sexy dresses, I'll spend half an hour to forty five minutes doing my hair and makeup and of course flaunting my looks to anybody who looked my way as I pretended to like it as if it didn't bother me that people I was not attracted to at all were hooked on how I looked. Victoria grabbed my hand and pulled me into her apartment when I arrived. she was talking a mile a minute about how she wanted to go to some club that was all the rage or something. Of course me being MarySue, and everyone knew that I was MarySue... Was like having an all-access pass. So I wasn't surprised to see that she already had a dress waiting for me, I did my makeup and hair, and put on high heels which I cannot believe I actually enjoy wearing now. They do wondrous things for my ass. And the two of us went to a club. It wasn't a big surprise that there were plenty of paparazzi to take pictures when we were outside, nor was it a big surprise that as soon as I arrived I just walked up to the door skipping the line as the bouncer invited me in with a big smile. We danced, we drank, I got a little buzzed, while Victoria got completely shit-faced. I sometimes wonder if I never get drunk because I'm confident that I have a strong tolerance to alcohol, or if it's because my metabolism is so quick that it doesn't have a chance to let me get me drunk. However, once I get buzzed I tend to stay that way for a while... with confidence I can probably say, it's probably not the metabolism. It was really late, or possibly really early depending on your point of view, but the club closed, and instead of taking Victoria's car back to her place, I just flew her there. I was sure there would be a few pictures of that on the news sites the following morning. And when I say 'news,' I meant the tabloids. The next morning I woke up and had a text message from Stoic. He asked if I was up for a training session, he saw that I was out late last night. I responded with an LOL and then of course. I was at the usual place 10 minutes later. Stoic and I always started with a simple fight, we tried to move at human speeds, which was slow for both of us but was good for technique. Two years ago, he saw the video of how I escaped, all the whole world had, but one thing that really got to him, was Krystal. Krystal was his daughter, and she never knew that he was Stoic. She never knew the kind of abilities he had, she simply disappeared and he never knew what had happened until he and I met. I told him what I had heard from her, and he thanked me for promising to try and find her and never giving up on her, he thanked me for trying to save her. and then he promised to make sure that if I ever had the chance to save her again that I would have the training to do so. He and I became something of a powerful team-slash-duo with me as his sidekick. He taught me that my power is not the freedom of limitations that I thought they were. If a skyscraper had started to fall over I might have had the confidence to think that I could hold it up, but it didn't mean physics would allow two simple hand prints just a couple feet apart from preventing a 10,000 foot monolith from snapping at my hand point. There are so many little things that I never would have even considered. We went to outer space for training, and learned that I could fly at nearly the speed of light. But he warned me that if I ever tried to do that while I was on earth, that the air displacement alone could kill thousands, or even millions from where I was and that's not even taking into account how hot the atmosphere would get from the friction of my body moving at such a speed. He made me realize that my Powers gave me more limitations, but in those limitations I would find a way to save so many others. And today started just like every other. Sparring, physics, other educational topics that might apply to my abilities. Strategy of course, and that included both studying military textbooks for actual real-time strategy, games such as chess, and so much else. He would then take me to orbit, and we practice our powers fine tuning both of our abilities, skills, and techniques that would serve us in our futures. We ended up stopping a few heists after training, nothing major just the usual life of a hero. I made my money off of a few licensing deals, so it was nice not to have to worry about income too much especially while I was trying to be a hero. Nothing major else happened until Saturday night. Victoria, as always, wanted to try a new place. In this case it wasn't actually a club or a dance party or anything like that, but she wanted to try a new restaurant at the top of a skyrise eighty stories up, and there's just a little restaurant, not really that little. They usually charged a lot of money for the meals, clearly it was for people who were affluent. The servers were nice, and the owner even came out to greet me and thank me for all the service I've done for the city, and decided to comp our meals if I could just take a picture with him. Victoria was down with that, but I insisted on paying and of course I was going to tip the staff really well. I didn't really get the chance. I was halfway through the entree when my phone went off, on the east side of the Bay, there was an explosion. I had to excuse myself, and I promised Victoria's to return as soon as I could if it wasn't crazy down there. Seconds later, I was in my costume and zipping across the skyline. I was halfway there, when Stoic came up alongside me and we flew the rest of the way together. We easily put the fire out with a couple of extinguishers, but looking around it was one thing that was very much disturbing, there was no evidence of a device, no evidence of an accelerant, just spontaneous combustion of a concrete wall, that was a telltale sign of a villain. I heard a sound behind us, I turned around the same time Stoic did, clearly heard it as well. My breath caught, I recognize this villain. He was not a fire starter, he was a teleporter. I asked him what he wanted, and he put up his hands as if to say he wasn't there to fight, and said that he was just the distraction, cuz they needed to get me away from Victoria, and he was gone. I immediately turned my head to look back towards the skyscraper. I could see it just a few miles away, and the whole top floor suddenly glowed yellow, as the entire floor ignited. I was there in under a second, Stoic joined me only a brief moment later, and we put out the fire. There were bodies everywhere. Stoic held me in his arms while I cried, I had never been responsible for this many deaths. For the death of my best friend. A silver lining of sorts came hours later, when it was made clear that none of the bodies found had actually belonged to Victoria. In some ways that was a relief, she was still alive, but likely in the arms of Lady Mindstorm, the woman who was originally responsible for kidnapping both me and Krystal. A few days later, my phone rang. The voice was electronically disguised, but essentially told me that by that point I knew Victoria was still alive, and if I was interested in seeing her alive again, I needed to go to the point of the explosion in the east side. I didn't hesitate, costume up and away I went. The teleporter was there. He simply held out his hand to me, he didn't say a single word. I took it, and with everything slowed down as I was waiting for a trap, I felt the bubble form around us and pulled down a tunnel. Must have been a partial bit of a second, but I was receiving time as if I were flying extremely fast. I understood he wasn't just teleporting, he was moving us through a wormhole, somehow that was important, I wasn't sure yet but I knew it would be relevant to the future. And then I had that sensation, that I was in an underground bunker yet again. Admittedly, my last place wasn't exactly an underground bunker but it did feel that way. There was a flight of stairs leading to a throne, and there sat a woman in a black outfit with green, bright neon green sleeves, and a spiral over her face shield. I have never seen her before, there have only been stories, but I knew that this was Lady Mindstorm. With authority in my voice, I asked her where Victoria was. And she laughed putting her hand up where her mouth probably was. She told me that I was not to make demands of her, especially when she had what I wanted; My best friend. I told her that I was going to rip every person in that room apart with my bare hands if I didn't see Victoria in the next ten seconds. She laughed at me, she told me that I wouldn't do such a thing cuz I was a hero. Just the perfect hero that Krystal had asked me to be. I scowled at her, but I was not afraid to make an example even if death wasn't exactly what I would have done. She warned me to close my eyes, and a second later I felt a spray starting to hit my face. I did close my eyes, then I wiped it from my face and realized it was just a body spray. That was not dangerous to me at all. I swung around to punch the teleporter, except he caught my fist as though I had no powers. Lady Mindstorm laughing again, she told me that the biggest thing I hadn't really accounted for was that my power's were based on my willpower. Her powers manipulated other people's thought processes. And she's told me that she was using her powers to block me from having the will to use my powers on anyone. I glared at her, this had nothing to do with her powers, had to do with that spray that she had in my face and I told her just as much. She snickered a little, and then told me that wasn't the case at all, it's just that the spray was needed to explain why I didn't remember anything of my time with her. I looked at her with confusion, and she shrugged telling me that it was all part of the plan. She clapped her hands, and a man came out carrying a mannequin with a black and green costume. Lady Mindstorm informed me that this would be my new costume when I served her. I told her that wasn't going to happen. She decided to prove me wrong. She pulled out a tablet and pressed a button on it, bringing out her other guest of honor. A moment later one of her guards escorted a young man out, he was naked, he was very muscular, and apparently very hung. Also worthy of note, was that his arms were restrained behind his back and he had a ball gag in his mouth... I was told his name was Victor, and he had just come from spending a nice evening with Krystal. My eyes went wide, and looking at his facial features, he could pass for Victoria's brother. This had to be Victoria, he may have been a hot guy now, but this was my best friend. Lady Mindstorm smiled as she looked at me. She told me how much his body must make me hot and bothered and how horny I was just looking at him. I may have been a woman for a while now, but I've never been attracted to men. And I've always been afraid of harming women so I've been quite celibate for the last 2 years. But even so, I felt the arousal spiking in me, a wetness between my legs I've only felt in my most private moments when I let my mind direct. But Victor, he was arousing me even in this situation where arousal should not be possible at all... Lady Mindstorm stepped down her flight of stairs and approached Victor, even with his arms behind his back and his mouth stuffed with that gag, he listened to her. She whispered and whispered and then stepped back as he approached me. Then she told me to simply spread my legs for him and I found myself doing it. Of course my costume was in the way, and a simple command from her and I found myself ripping a hole in the bottom of my crotch. And Lady Mindstorm laughed as she commanded me and my best friend, to fuck. And we did. Over the next two hours he fucked me three times, and each time I came when I was instructed to, he also came when he was instructed to. When it was all said and done, I felt his jizz between my legs, both inside and out, or maybe it would be more appropriately to say I felt it seeping out of me. It was weird and unlike anything I'd experience before. I was more hurt by the fact that he had no choice, then the fact that I did not. I looked at Lady Mindstorm, and told her with certainty that she would not get away with this, and I would make her pay for this. And like she had done quite a few times in the short amount of time I had known her, she simply laughed at my words. She looked at me and told me that if I had the will to resist her, then I should ignore her next command... She paused just long enough to build enough tension in my heart, and then she commanded, "Crush Victor's skull." To be continued. Remember Feedback is a writer's fuel and motivation... Feel encouraged to say hay hi, comment, or review either here or through one of my contacts below! Kisses! Will Mallory/MarySue be able to resist Lady Mindstorm's command and save Victor/ia? Will she be the villain her nemesis wants her to be? Or the hero she promised Krystal she would be? Can she still save Krystal? Let me know if you want to see a chapter 3! Hometown Hero

Not a lot of sex. As always, I want to thank my editors, LadyCibelle and Techsan, for making my story a much better read as well as their suggestions. Chapter 1 I was getting dressed to go to the Fourth of July party. I recently returned home from the service. I was asked to wear my uniform with my latest medals. You see, I was considered a hero in our town. I don’t see myself as a hero, I just did what any soldier would have done in my situation. I’ll try to explain exactly what happened. ...

GSP Chapter 713 What Makes a Hero

G.S.P. Chapter 7 What Makes a Hero? Fang moved through the streets in wolf form carefully following the smell that she tracked. The smells of the many humans closeness to her assaulted her from all directions, but she had no problem moving forward. People parted from her presence, startled by her larger than expected size. Possibly there might be trouble if anyone called the police about a large wolf moving freely in the city, but hopefully she had made enough appearances with the super...

Like a Hero

My head was spinning. Absolutely spinning, and it wasn't just the glass of champagne. The last month, the last year even, had been a complete blur. From high school swim meets, to a generous college scholarship, to the Olympic trials, to the eight days I spent in the Athletes' Village, to the medal stand (three times), to the media circus back home, to this bathroom in the swankiest hotel in the capitol city of the state I was born in. How could so much happen to one person in so little time?...

Death of the Hero

A Hero's death need not always be literally. As the old saying goes, you either die the hero or live long enough to see yourself become a villian. But in doing so a Hero is dead anyways. Gone are the morals and the justice. No longer are they a role model for the youngsters. Often they don't even maintain the same appearance or name. So in essence they are dead regardless. And this is one such story. Our Hero doesn't meet her life's end, but her no beginning as something not quite what she used...

An Unlikely Hero

Ok it was like this I needed furniture for my dorm room such as a comfort chair or maybe a futon or something like that. Hell even a better mattress for the bed would be nice. However I am your typical first year college student. I'm broke all the time. So when I was heading home to my parents' house (Just so they could feed me on the weekend) I noticed a sign that said "estate auction today." Well that sign had an arrow pointing down a cross road of the state highway I was on. I thought to...

Hero

Hero By Cassandra Morgan I knew better, dammit. I was smarter than this. From the time I first dragged a pair of panties up my legs, I have been scared to death of being caught, and the fear has made me sharp. I was never one of those transvestites who secretly wants to get caught by his mom or his wife or his co-workers. I always knew it would start a river of trouble flowing. So I knew better. Hell, I dressed before I went home, but not after. It was just for self-protection....

Daniel started. “All my life I have been a nerd. While in college, I was a charter member of the Society for Creative Anachronism. I fenced in high school, and when the SCA was founded, I expanded into all sorts of medieval weaponry. I became super nerd.” “When I was a little older than you are now, I was recruited,” he paused for effect, “by a smooth talking guy who said that my knowledge could be put to rewarding uses. My Hero

I had a small house in a quiet neighborhood. Much different than the crowded city where I grew up. My neighbors mostly kept to themselves. An older couple on one side and a single mother with two teens on the other side. The kids were no problem, mostly everyone just waved in passing. As I said, a quiet neighborhood, no problems, until Saturday night. I'd gone out on the back deck about 8 pm. No particlar reason, mostly to enjoy the cooler evening air after a warm day. I had a t shirt and...

Jasons TaleChapter 14 A New Hero

I was sorta expecting it, but it was still a surprise the first time an Earth Hero came through our bank. We had quite a few men who wanted to be crew on our warships and earn some easy money but could not swim, and I had to have something for them to do. I set four of them up as pairs of bank guards so that if anything happened one could continue to watch while the other went for help. One pair had the mornings and the other pair had the afternoons. I still remembered the bank at Long Cut...

Izuku Midoriya loved being a hero. He loved saving people with a smile and giving strength to the weak. He loved the feeling of doing something great and the happiness that followed from the people around him. Something he did not love however was paperwork. Sadly however, with great responsibility comes a great amount of paper-work. Especially if you're the number one hero with your own hero agency. Izuku groaned loudly and put the pen down as he finished his fourth damage report of the day....

Herakles the Hero

Kalliste Periakes was humming to herself as she pushed through the door of the bar. "The Cubs need pitching," she announced to everyone in the bar... She was a young-looking woman with a thick mass of black hair, wide eyes and a generous mouth. "The starting pitching looked pretty good, but the relievers..." He shook his head sadly...

Her Hero

I couldn’t sleep. I had been trying for what seemed like hours. So, I went for a walk to the park, hoping that would allow me to checkmate the sandman. That’s when I came upon the situation. A guy and a girl in what seemingly looked like an argument. Finding myself not ready to return home yet, I decided to eavesdrop on the squabble. From what I gathered he was her boyfriend and wanted a piece of her ‘teasing’ ass, as he so quaintly put it. I thought to myself, ‘I don’t blame him.’ The girl...

Eddie the Hero

Blond and balding, divorced and ready to give up on women, Eddie Cox closed his toolbox and walked out of the computer room of the small branch of Albion United Bank, swallowing the last of a tomato sandwich. He stopped abruptly, a shotgun pointed at his belly. ‘Who are you?’ asked the gunman, blue eyes looking coldly through eye slits in his hood. ‘The computer guy,’ Eddie croaked. ‘I don’t know the combination to the bank’s safe.’ ‘Of course you don’t,’ snarled the gunman. ‘It’s on a time...

The Heart Of A Hero

With all of the superhero stories going around, I thought that I'd try my hand at one, with a bit of a different twist. Enjoy......... Raven The Heart of a Hero The wound . . . was . . . quite fatal. Lois Lane lay in a pool of her own arterial blood. "I'll . . . go for help," whispered Jimmy Olson, trying to ease her pain. He knew that in his heart of hearts it wouldn't do any good. Still, he had to do something. "It'll be okay." Jimmy started to rise to go. Lois'...

Carnival of Mirrors Hero

This is my third Carnival of Mirrors tale. The others, also available on fictionmania, are: Carnival of Mirrors: Four Fates. Carnival of Mirrors: Generations. Like those, this one is a standalone tale. You don't have to have read them to follow this tale, but if you enjoy this one you'll probably enjoy them, too. If you like stories with a World War II setting you might also like my story: Mantra: Day of the Storm God Most of that one is set in Berlin during the final...

Return Of An Earth Hero

Kathrine gasped as she sat up in the bed. It's too soon, he couldn't have rescued her and returned already she thought to herself. She spoke to the room, "Lights please." She quickly rose, dressed, and moved toward the door. I'll meet him at the portal, since this was his second rescue he still may not be sure of what to do. I'll have both of them checked in the healing chamber and then take Ava Foreman to the bedroom. Then I'll have Jimmy wait in the den. It just seems to be too soon....

Minara the Grojan WarChapter 6 A Hero

The next morning Arron woke early, bathed and dressed in his light leather armor. He walked down to the common room for breakfast and was saluted by the desk sergeant. "Good morning, sir." "Good morning, Jerros." There was a noise outside so Arron walked to the main entrance and opened the doors. He was greeted by a loud cheer. A crowd was quickly gathering; people pushed forward, patted him on the back and shook his hands. He was about to step back through the door when Jerina rushed...

To be a hero

This story will center itself around the main character: the hero. Well…at least that is what he will be at the start. You have to understand dear reader that most villains in real life aren’t inherently evil. They themselves do believe that what they are doing is the right thing. To clarify, this story does start out as a heroic tale. It is in fact a little generic. For example, it is set in the glorious country of the United States. The hero does at the start believe in the workings of a...

Hero

I was orphaned at an early age and lived on the street. I got my education through the public comp systems. At sixteen I got a job just off the port warehouse district as a night watcher. It was not much but I made enough to rent a one room apartment once called a studio. The area was very old and close to the port so the buildings were between six to ten stories tall. Since the area was old it was also neglected by a lot of the city maintenance workers. Few constables patrolled the area and...

A Fresh StartChapter 68 Hero

Back inside, I took another pill and drank about half a beer while getting undressed and climbing into bed. Marilyn had already fallen asleep by the time I got into the sheets. I tried to close the drapes and shut out the daylight, but the entire place had been designed to be light and airy. Even the curtains seemed bright. It didn’t matter. I was out like a light in about thirty seconds and didn’t wake until dinner time. I woke to find myself alone in the bed, but I heard the shower...

No hero

It wasn’t that Jack had ever wanted to be a soldier. It was not something he chose from a range of professions. It was simply that Jack was born into an area where poverty and hardship were the norm, where the only choice for the boys who left school was either to slave in the local coal mines, or to join one of the armed services. So when Jack left school at the tender age of fourteen, as children were allowed to do in those far off days, he worked in the dirt and blackness for two long years,...

My sons hero

This is due to the fact that the entire neighborhood is terrified by my husband. He is a city cop, and an intimidating one at that. We fell in love in college, when he was the star linebacker of our small, local college. At 6’4’’ 225 pounds, he still looks like he could hold his own against professional football players. He could have gone pro if he really had the desire to, but all his life he wanted to be a cop, just like my father-in-law. And the same aggression he used to use to bring...

He was exhausted, sweaty, gritty, and dirty. It had been a long tough fight and even though he had done his very best, he felt guilty and helpless. The call came in as a simple house fire. The kind he had been to a thousand times before. And like every other time, he had jumped out of bed, scrambled to get dressed, and get on the truck as fast as possible. But he wasn't as young as he used to be and he could feel the toll the years had taken on him. He was still in decent shape, he thought. He...

"A working class hero is something to be... ... If you want to be a hero, well just follow me." John Lennon Johnny McMullen stared at the piece of paper in his hands, and felt a cold sweat break out all over his body, despite the unseasonably warm late-winter day. Hayden Panettieres Hero

16th January, 2007 I’d just completed a tour in Iraq serving in the Marine Corp. I arrived at the airport and made my way home. The cooler weather blasted me, used to the warm heat of the Middle East. Grabbing a cab, I instructed him to my home. Having little personal belongings I hauled them into the trunk and sat quietly as the driver babbled incessantly. Getting home, I found an envelope on the kitchen desk with a small box beneath it. Opening up the envelope I noticed the handwriting...

Ordinary Heroes

For those who suffered through the bad editing of the first submission I apologize. I owe a great deal of thanks to xtchr for agreeing to edit the story. All the characters and scenario’s are fictitious. The dangers and emotional harm are very real for those in the professions of the story. Seeing the harm done to critical care providers, and one in particular, prompted me to write the story so I am pleased that with xtchr’s help the tale reads as it should. Generic Brand Hero

Generic Brand Hero By Sarah Barndt Chapter 1 I was, admittedly, a loser. I was a 24-year-old college dropout who worked at a video store and lived in my parent's basement. Add to that I was 5'5, scrawny and kind of weaselly looking. Well, as you could imagine, I was beating the babes off with a stick. Actually you could describe my love life by removing the words "the babes" and "with a stick" from the last sentence. The only thing that kept my Dad from thinking I was a...

The Hero

Midfield Wisconsin, a medium-sized city by Midwestern standards, lies perched high above the shores of Lake Michigan. A long Coast Guard pier juts one mile out into the lake, slants sharply to the south then out for another quarter mile. This structure helps form a channel creating one of the best harbors on the lake, from which a fleet of commercial fishing boats goes forth each morning, accompanied by hundreds of swirling, squawking gulls. Huge merchant ships come and go, supplying coal and...

Someones Hero

In an age of time when the destruction of modern civilization slowly descends upon us we must look to a future when someone, anyone will rise up and take the reigns so long ago dropped and lift us back to our rightful path. This at least was the thoughts and the most constant staple of Professor Damien’s lectures. He knew that the inner cities were going to hell and also that his student ratio had jumped by 60% over the last few years. At the ripe age of 45 he was still younger than the larger...

I wrote this story shortly after Christmas of 2102. It is a work of fiction. Names, places and events are a product of my imagination. I hope you enjoy it for what it is. * When the IED exploded eight Marines of Lieutenant Karl Richart Schmidt’s platoon lay wounded and exposed to sniper fire from a group of insurgents hiding in the village. Schmidt’s instincts told him to remain hidden behind the low stone wall which the remainder of his men had taken cover. Then his training kicked in....

Comic Hero

Growing up as a kid, I was mesmerized by Popeye, The Sailor Man. It was a collection of my grandfather’s comic books that I had inherited. It was a ridiculous cartoon strip started in the nineteen-twenties. In it, Popeye a spinach glugging nerd constantly saves Olive Oyl, an even more absurd looking creature from the advances of a gorgeous looking, butch hunk named Bluto. Even as a child, I was unable to understand why Olive would be distressed by the machinations of the uber-masculine Bluto,...

You glanced around - it was an eerie night, with the full moon glowing brightly in the sky and shadows being lengthened to pull off a more frightening look than they usually would have. My Hero By Anon Allsop I slowly strolled by the dress shops, momentarily gazing into the windows and looking at the new styles from New York. I caught sight of my reflection in the window, auburn hair askew and lightly floating in the gentle breeze. I straightened my light jacket and continued to walk down the sidewalk. "How'd you like to wrap those long legs around me honey?" I glanced up, a man in a white tank had settled in beside me. He was grinning like a hungry wolf....
