November 27, 1987, Chicago, Illinois

After dinner on Friday we had our house meeting to discuss living arrangements. I started out with the office and den changes, and then asked everyone their plans for the next year. There wasn’t any change other than the one I already knew about with Sofia.

“Is there a problem because Kara’s having a baby?” Charlie asked.

“It’s not a problem, it’s just a complication,” I said. “We have a full eight months to figure it out, and once my dad leaves, the old office will be a permanent bedroom.”

“I could move out if you need me to,” Charlie said. “I can easily afford to get my own place. I was only staying here because it was convenient, and it let me save a ton of money. Well, and I like living here, but you know what I mean. Your house should be for your family. And it’s not like I’m here half the nights, either.”

I chuckled, “True. You and Clayton seem to have hit it off pretty well.”

“If by ‘hit it off pretty well’ you mean that we fuck ourselves silly, then yes!” she laughed, as did the other girls. “You know that I’m not AT ALL interested in a permanent relationship right now. He’s fun, but I’m not looking for a husband. When will you need the room?”

“Not until August 1st, because Leila and Alejandra both said they’re going home for the summer.”

“I think I’ll look for something in Lincoln Park, maybe a loft. There’s a lot more happening there than in Hyde Park.”

“Is that a backhanded way of saying that I’m old and boring?” I said with a grin.

“Penny sure thinks so!” Charlie laughed. “But no. I’m not into the university scene, so Lincoln Park makes more sense.”

“Eventually, Penny is going to be married with kids and then I’ll get to tell her how boring SHE is!”

“When are we moving your office to your den?” Stephanie asked.

“There isn’t that much to do, really. Move the two computers out of the current library into the great room, as we had before, then move my stuff into the library, and then get the bed and stuff out of the storage closet in the basement. We can start any time, really. It just needs to be done by the first of the year so we’re not rushing.”

It seemed I’d been able to neatly sidestep the issue of having Tasha move in, because we’d be using Charlie’s and Sofia’s room as a nursery, at least for the time being. About the time that Leila and Alejandra graduated and returned to their countries, we’d need that room to separate boys from girls, or older kids from younger.

At some point, my sister would be ready to have kids, and unless we made some serious changes, there wouldn’t be enough room. One of the changes we’d contemplated, way back, was modifying the attic room for use as bedrooms, but I really didn’t want to do that because it was the perfect place for parties. Technically, the ‘Indian’ room could serve as a bedroom, and we had the guest rooms, but neither of those were good options in the long-term.

The other question was, how long Elyse would want to live in the house? She’d made some off-handed comments about wanting to live in the suburbs, and at some point she’d probably do that. I hoped it wasn’t soon, because that would mean that Matthew and his future little brother or sister would move with her. And that was not something I really wanted to contemplate, now, or in the future.

Jennifer and Josie had both become ‘city’ girls, and I was sure that they’d stay in the coach house for as long as I would have them, and that would be for as long as they cared to stay. Having Jesse close was important, and I really liked my relationship with Jennifer at this point. Having her close by was a good thing, even if I didn’t take Jesse into account.

But all of that was in the future. As we got up from the table, I suggested a sauna, and everyone but Charlie and my sister took me up on it. Charlie was headed out on a date with Clayton, or, as she put it, going to get laid. My sister was going to see Jorge, and I assumed she had the same goal, though that was left unspoken.

Fifteen minutes later, we were sitting in the sauna, with Jessica and Kara on either side of me. We’d seemed to have avoided the ditch I was trying to steer into; now it was just a matter of making the necessary course corrections to ensure that our relationship continued heading in the right direction. My main concern right now was that Leila was going to ask to be with me, and I would have to turn her down. That might present an awkward situation. I just hoped that when she asked, she did so privately.

“Alejandra, are you going home at Christmas break?” Kara asked.

“Yes. I’ll leave on the 19th and come back on January 3rd.”

“Will everyone else be here for New Years?” Elyse asked. “I need to start planning the party.”

“Make sure you invite Alex and Sam,” I said. “And Karl, Nick, and their wives.”

“I had them on my list already, as well as the Jaegers, Kallases, Eggerts, and Fergusons.”

It sounded so strange to hear all of my female friends referred to by their husbands’ last names. It still felt odd when people called Jessica ‘Doctor Adams’, or when I saw either her or Kara’s names written with my last name.

“What about Penny and Ned?” I asked.

“Them, too.” Elyse said. “What about the other NIKA staff?”

“We’ll do a holiday party, and invite some of the top IIT prospects. I’d prefer to keep the business party separate, so to speak. Other than Dave, Julia, Cindi, and Penny who are long-term friends, we’ll split them. It’s just safer that way.”

“When do you want to do that?” Elyse asked.

“If you’re offering to plan it, then shoot for the week of December 14th.”

“Here?” Elyse asked.

“No, let’s go someplace. Now that I think about it, I wonder if Alex Saunders would handle it. Let me ask him and I’ll let you know.”

“OK. Yes, I’ll plan it.”

“Thanks. We’ll shoot for a Tuesday or Thursday so Jessica can be there.”

“For our New Year’s Eve party should I ask Fawn to babysit? That way Kathy can bring Kristin, and if the Schumacher’s want to bring their boys, they could.”

“Sure. Just check with Jen about using the coach house as we have in the past. That way we can be noisy here and not worry about the kids.”

“And I’m going to miss it!” Alejandra sighed. “That stinks!”

After the sauna, we showered, and my wives and I went to bed, since Jessica had to be at work at 5:00am on Saturday.

November 29, 1987, Chicago, Illinois

“No race today, Tiger?” Jessica asked when she got up after her usual Sunday morning nap.

“No. The season ended last weekend. It’ll start again in February.”

“Anything going on?”

“Another plane crash,” I said.

“Besides the South African Airways flight that went down yesterday?”

“A Korean Air jet went down with 115 passengers and crew onboard just off the Malaysian coast. No word yet on what happened. It just disappeared off the radar and some wreckage has been found.”

“Anything new on the South African plane?” she asked.

“Just that it went down somewhere east of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. They updated the crew and passenger count to 159. The search and rescue teams found some fuel on the surface and a few bodies, but nothing more as yet.”

“It’s been a bad decade, that’s for sure,” Jessica said. “What’s the plan for the afternoon?”

“We don’t have one,” I said. “We’ve been hanging out, and just came in to watch CNN when Elyse told us about the plane crash.”

“I’m a news junkie,” Elyse laughed. “What can I say?”

“Me too,” I said. “But I prefer The Economist to CNN, though it is about a week behind. Anyway, was there something you wanted to do, Babe?”

“I’d say we could take a walk, but the temperature appears to be dropping. It’s in the mid 30’s now.”

“Bah, that’s not cold!” I teased. “There’s nothing new in the theaters, though I do want to see Wall Street when it comes out in a couple of weeks. A lot of stuff is closed because it’s Sunday, and it’s already after 2:00pm as well. And remember, we have dinner with your boss in less than four hours.”

Jessica giggled, “That should be enough time!”

I took her hand, then Kara’s, and we went up to our room.

November 30, 1987, Chicago, Illinois

“Thanks for letting us stay here last night,” Connie said on Monday morning.

I had come back home after walking Jessica to work because Connie and Anthony were still at the house. They’d arrived just before midnight, and Elyse had done me a huge favor in waiting for them after they’d called to say that they would be very late. Kara had gone to class and Elyse had gone to the office, so I was alone with Anthony and Connie eating what was for me a second breakfast.

“You’re welcome. Sorry I couldn’t wait up last night, but Jess gets up at 4:00am and I like to make her breakfast and walk her to the hospital.”

“It’s OK. Elyse got us settled in your guest room and we went right to bed.”

“What time is your meeting?” I asked.

“10:00am in Cicero,” Anthony said. “We’ll leave soon. That damned spic gang is really causing trouble. I know they whacked that shopkeeper because he refused to pay them instead of me. I only wish I could finger the guy who did it. They’re muscling into the business all over the Midwest. It’s like the Vietnamese gangs in California. Italians are under assault from all sides. The damned Feds, the spics, the gooks. All muscling in on what’s rightfully ours.”

“The Feds are really breathing down everyone’s neck here,” I said. “Unions, judges, alderman, la Cosa Nostra, and the gangs. But they’re really going after the corrupt politicians.”

“Are there any other kind?” Anthony quipped.

I thought about Alderman Bloom who had a reputation for being squeaky clean, and I knew he was dirty. Other than dropping off the envelope every couple of weeks, I didn’t know anything about it, but Anthony’s observation was valid.

“Probably not,” I chuckled.

“Thanks again for your hospitality,” he said. “We’re going to head out. Let me know if you need anything.”

“You’re welcome,” I replied. “And thanks.”

We shook hands and Connie and I hugged lightly. I got my leather bag and walked them to their car, and then headed to the office.

December 1, 1987, Chicago, Illinois

“Steve,” Kimmy said over the intercom, “there’s John Gildeah on the phone for you. He said he’s from IIT.”

I had no idea who that was, but had Kimmy put the call through.

“Steve, this is John Gildeah. I’m on the nomination committee for the IIT Alumni organization and we’d like you to consider serving.”

“I’m honored, but I’m not sure that I can handle the time commitment to fill an important role like that. Between my business and family, I just don’t have a lot of spare time at this point.”

“It’s really only a few hours every three months for board meetings,” he said.

“And events? And fund-raising? And serving on a committee?” I chuckled. “I know how that goes. I’m flattered, really, but I have to decline at this point. I hope you’ll ask again in a few years.”

“There’s no way I can talk you into this? Will you at least have lunch with me and discuss it further?”

“John, not this time. Doctor Bauer mentioned this to me several weeks ago and I’ve thought it through. I simply don’t have the time. I have two kids and one due in May or June. My business is growing and we’re short-staffed. My wife is a first-year medical Resident and has limited time that I have to work around. Sorry, John. No.”

“OK. I’ll take your name off the list. Sorry to have bothered you.”

“It’s no bother,” I said. “Honestly, I really am flattered. Ask again in a few years.”

We said goodbye and hung up.

“What was that about?” Penny asked.

“The IIT Alumni organization wants me to serve on their board. I turned them down because I’m way too busy.”

“Wow! That’s prestigious, isn’t it?”

“I suppose you could say that, but how much free time do I have? And I can’t really take time away from Jessica when she’s available. I have to work around her schedule. I can do that with NIKA, karate, and the rest of my personal life. But things like scheduled board meetings don’t allow for the flexibility I need for Jessica, Kara, Elyse, Jesse, Matthew, and Baby X.”

“Baby X?” Penny laughed.

“Kara’s not sure like Jennifer and Elyse were.”

“Do you have names picked out?”

“Birgit Elizabeth and Joshua Stephen,” I said.

“Birgit? Wasn’t that your girlfriend who died?”

“Yes.”

“That’s cool and creepy at the same time. You had sex with that girl, right?”

“Yes, Pretty Penny, I had sex with her. But you’re barking up the wrong tree! This isn’t some strange attempt to bring her back. It’s like naming a kid after a relative.”

“I suppose. Didn’t you sleep with her sister?”

“Should I just type up a list for you?” I chuckled.

“Now THAT would be interesting!”

“You first!” I teased.

“Never mind!” she snapped.

“Ned, the guy at the party, and?” I asked.

“You want me to kiss and tell?”

“We’re not talking about kissing, Penelope!” I chuckled. But her sudden intake of breath made me pause. “Wait, did you cheat on Ned?”

Penny’s face fell and I knew the answer immediately. I didn’t even know why that thought had crossed my mind, but it had. Penny turned from facing me back to her computer and put her hands on the keyboard, but she didn’t start typing. I saw a tear roll down her left cheek. I got up and reached for her hand.

“We’re leaving, Penny. Come on.”

“No! Just leave me alone!” she said, starting to sob.

“No chance. Get up and come with me! Right now!”

She pushed her chair back and stood up. I got our coats from behind the door, helped her into hers and then put mine on. I took her hand again, and led her from the office.

“Kimmy, we’re done for the day,” I said. “Just take messages if anyone calls.”

“Is everything OK?”

“Yes. Don’t worry.”

I led Penny back to my house and took her to the ‘Indian’ room. Kara was home from class and saw us.

“Could you make us a pot of tea?” I asked quietly. “I need to talk to Penny. She’s having a crisis.”

“How bad?” she whispered.

“Bad,” I said. “Please, just get the tea. And if you could walk over to get Jess when it’s time, I’d appreciate it. I don’t know how long this will take.”

“OK. Let me know if you need anything else.”

“Thanks,” I said.

Penny was standing staring at the tapestry on the wall, with tears running slowly down her cheeks. I quickly tried to figure out what had led me to ask the question, and I came to our brief interaction when she’d revealed her dalliance at the party. She’d been quick to point out that it had been after Jonathan and she broke up and before she and Ned got together. In hindsight, she’d seemed defensive about it, but I hadn’t picked up on it at the time. Something in the back of my mind had pushed forward when she’d quickly shut down a conversation that shouldn’t have been a big deal between two people who were as close as we were.

Luke could feel the nerves building inside him. He had booked his appointment last week after months of debating. The Violet Club was like nothing Luke had ever imagined. Patrons were able to book sessions with professional dominants and submissives. In addition, they were able to customize them based on their fantasies.Luke had experimented a little with BDSM in his previous relationship, but once that relationship ended he knew he wanted to dive in further. Suffering for Penny

Suffering for PennyChapter 1Penny's eyes slowly opened. She pulled her arms from under the blanket and rubbed her tired eyes. Today was the day. She was finally turning 18. And daddy had promised her a special present today. She lazily got out of bed and gathered the clothes she wanted to wear today. She headed to the bathroom to prepare for her big day. She stripped and admired her body in the full length mirror. She took a moment to look at her cute blonde hair, then ran her hands down her...

House in the Woods Penny

© Copyright 2003 My house is built on a rather large plot of land, but unlike my neighbors, I don't try to make it produce income for me, so technically, it's not a farm. When the last known heir of the original owner died in the eighteen-nineties, the land fell into a legal limbo while the possibility of living inheritors was investigated (they actually did such things back then!). In for a Penny

It all started a year ago when my step-sister and I decided to go on holiday together. Actually, we didn’t decide. I still reckon I was tricked into it, not that I’m complaining. Best start at the beginning, though our set-up is pretty conventional. My Mum and step-Dad got together several years ago after respective divorces. Each brought a child, a boy (me) and a girl, into the marriage. At the time we were both approaching our teens. After a little initial awkwardness we both got on pretty...

In For A Penny

It started innocently enough. My wife, Susan, had been out of town for four days of a two-week work-related training session and I was, shall we say, frustrated and missing our sex life. I was trying to masturbate while fantasizing about her but I kept losing my erection. On her side of the bed, hanging on the post, was the blue nightgown she wore the last night she was home. I could still remember how that felt as I rubbed up against her so I reached over and grabbed it. A faint trace...

Nemesis Penny

I can remember the night as if it was yesterday. There I was just sitting watching the local evening news program on the old telly, my wife Penny was sitting over the other side of the room looking at me with a very curious expression on her face. The trouble she had was she just couldn't bring herself to tell me what was on her mind. Why? Well, for two reasons really. One, because I don't think she could believe it herself, and two, because if she did bring the subject up, she knew she was...

What Are We Gonna Do About This Penny

"So, how do you feel now that you have my ring, Penny?" she asked, walking into the locker room with me."This is yours, Alina?" I asked, stopping a few feet in there."Yes," she answered, peeking back at me. "I gave it to Oscar four years ago after his father passed and told him to give it to the woman he wanted to marry. His dad gave it to me less than a year after we met. Not that I'm gonna take it back, but it's mine. It looks good on your finger, though.""Thank you," I replied, setting my...

This story follows a character introduced in "Elise Plans a Wedding", but it stands by itself. Prologue: Confused Looking back at things, I'd have to say that I've spent most of my life in a continual state of confusion. In fact. I am confused at this very moment. I seem to be in a college classroom, sitting in a circle, with about a dozen or so women. I think. Actually I'm a bit confused about that. I'm quietly staring at my feet, happy now that winter is over and that I can...

Penny Authors note: This was an interesting, and challenging piece for me to do. Most of my works are usually pure fiction with perhaps a sprinkling of fact based on similar experiences, or people I’ve known thrown in. As many of us here at Lit sometimes find, we get emails or feedback from people who have read and appreciated our stories. Sometimes a friendship can come from this, or at the very least dialogue begins borne from someone’s desire to see a particular story written, or an idea...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 7 SakurakoChapter 57 Land of the Rising Sun Part III

June 23, 1994, Oguni, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan My first week in Japan flew by, and a routine developed. Sakurako would wake me; I’d exercise and run, then shower and have breakfast, and share tea with Sakurako. After breakfast, I’d meditate, and then have my training session. After lunch, I’d work in the garden, or, as I had this day, wash the floors in the house. Hiroshi would accompany me back to the cottage and we’d talk while I washed up and dressed for dinner. After dinner, I’d spend...

I’ve never served in any American military unit and I’ve never flown an aircraft. The idea is to tell a story without letting the technical stuff get in the way of the plot. I hope that doesn’t put you off too much. This is the third and final episode of the ‘Dear Mother’ series. Thanks for sticking with it and I hope you enjoy it. * Chapter 1: I turned...

First Time with my daughter Penny

Sixteen years ago my wife decided she needed drugs more than she needed her family. She left me with a two year old green eyed beauty named Penny. Penny is my pride and joy. Growing up without a mom and a wife did present us with a few problems. Which bathroom to use at the movies and mall was an issue until she was ten years old. We also played more sports than dolls. Penny was a tomboy. Today she is 5’4 lean, athletic and except for the very sizable breasts she has, she’s built for speed and...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 7 SakurakoChapter 54 Westward Bound Or is it Eastward

June 15, 1994, Chicago, Illinois “That’s everything, I think,” I said. “My luggage is in the trunk of the car, I have my passport, tickets, and money, both dollars and yen. I can’t think of anything else.” “I’ll see you in five weeks,” Elyse said, giving me a quick hug. “Did you see they rioted in Vancouver last night because they lost the Stanley Cup?” I chuckled, “Only Canadians would riot when they LOSE the Cup! I did see that on the front page of the Trib. Are we ready?” “Michelle and...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 5 Housemates

August 1981, Chicago, Illinois On Sunday morning, I made my usual call to Karin. I described everything in the apartment and all the things I’d done during the week, including the reception. Both of us would start school in a week and we were both looking forward to it. When we finished talking, I went out for my run, showered, and ate breakfast. I made some tea, started a load of laundry, and then turned on the stereo. I put on an REO Speedwagon album and then relaxed on the couch with the...

penny

penny by steve goldenThe morning was beautiful, bright and clear. She was the first up, and had the coffee on by the time anyone else emerged from the small group of tents. It was Gary, and together they sat and chatted and drank their black coffee in the sunshine. She wasn’t sure when the conversation turned to sex. Maybe it was when Gary gazed at her tits in her tight T-shirt and complimented her on her figure. She didn’t know him very well, having met him only once or twice before. And she...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 3 JessicaChapter 63 Back to Work

August 21, 1989, Chicago, Illinois “Unbelievable,” I said when I read the headline from the Chicago Tribune. “It says here that Solidarity activist Tadeusz Mazowiecki was nominated to be Prime Minister of Poland.” I hadn’t had a chance to read the paper on Sunday because it hadn’t been delivered before we left for the race track in Michigan. “So now what?” Kara asked. “We’re in totally uncharted territory. Your guess is as good as anyone’s right about now.” “Steve, do you have a minute?”...

A WellLived Life Book 8 StephieChapter 36 My Lifes Journey

July, 1983, Chicago, Illinois I woke up early on the First of July, because my body clock was still set to Swedish time. The flight back had been long but uneventful, and I was happy that the businessman in the seat next to me hadn’t wanted to talk. I read, wrote some longhand journal entries, ate, and generally relaxed while the plane zipped over the Atlantic. I’d come home, taken a sauna, eaten a light meal, and gone straight to bed, not bothering to check messages, look at the mail that...

A WellLived Life Book 1 BirgitChapter 4 Calm Before the Storm

June 1977 When I got home, I grabbed a Coke and some chips and went right to my room. I didn’t think I could deal with my parents or Jeff or Stephanie. I just needed to be by myself. That wouldn’t seem odd to anyone, because I often went to my room to read. In addition, I now had the TV I’d received for my birthday. I flipped it on to WXIX Channel 19 and reruns of Gilligan’s Island and Green Acres played in the background while I read. I had to get my mind clear for the final exams that...

July, 1982, Milford, Ohio I woke up early on Friday morning to make breakfast for Kara and her mom before she went to work. Mrs. Blanchard was surprised, but very pleased. After her mom left for work, Kara gave me a fierce kiss. “Thanks for staying in and cooking breakfast for us,” Kara said. “I hope that doesn’t cause you trouble with Stephanie, with you breaking your normal routine.” “Don’t worry about it,” I said, kissing her back. “We got in a bit later than I expected, and she’ll...

A WellLived Life Book 8 StephieChapter 38 Jennifer

July, 1983, Chicago, Illinois After Rosie left, I stripped the sheets from my bed, as well as the cover of the duvet, and tossed everything into the washing machine. I lit a lavender candle in the room, and then swept and dusted. I did a quick spot-check of the rest of the house and noticed that the tub in the sauna needed to be cleaned. I scrubbed it, then mopped the sauna floor with a damp sponge mop. I finished cleaning the sauna about the time the washing machine finished, so I moved...

May 26, 1991, Iron Mountain, Michigan “Shall we see if we can find a farm?” I asked at breakfast on Sunday morning. “That sounds like a great idea,” Jessica said. “There’s a visitor’s bureau in town,” Kara said. “I saw it when we were here the first time.” “I’m sorry I ruined that vacation,” Jessica said. “Ruined?” I protested. “Are you kidding? Getting you back was way more important than a few days of vacation!” “I agree,” Kara added. “Jess, you know exactly how bad off Steve was...

A WellLived Life Book 9 AnalaChapter 59 New Friends

August, 1984, Chicago, Illinois The rest of the week proceeded as expected - class on Wednesday, as well as the usual visit from Penny, work on Thursday, and class on Friday. Kara and I had lunch together at IIT, Sofia practiced her driving and parking, and I hung out with Mark Agnini after class for beers. Staci and I got into a couple of interesting debates about the Old Testament that Mark had to break up to allow others in the class to participate. She was very much of the ‘directly...

A WellLived Life 3 Book 1 SuzanneChapter 7 Reaching the Peak

March 25, 2000, Chicago, Illinois “What time do I need to have you home?” “8:00pm will be fine,” Misty replied. “My parents are in Normal visiting my brother at Illinois State. They aren’t supposed to be home before 10:00pm.” Misty and I were in my car on the way to the NIKA apartment which, fortunately, was not being used. With our expansion, it was in more or less regular use, and that meant I didn’t have access to it as often as I would have liked. I was glad there had been a delay in...

The Crush In for a Penny

The Crush: In for a Penny They say twins can read each other's minds, and maybe that's true. My sister Paige can sure read mine, even if we're only fraternal twins, not identical. Like the fact that long before I could say the words, she knew I felt more like a girl and not like a guy at all. She even was the one who decided my real name should be Penny, and not the Peter I was named at birth. Eventually, we told Mom and Dad, but I hadn't gone any further than that. But that...

January 17, 1989, Chicago, Illinois “What time do you have to leave this morning?” Kara asked as we showered together on Tuesday morning. “About 8:30am,” I said. “I’m driving over to get Jeri, then heading to O’Hare. We have an 11:00am flight. Assuming all goes well, we’ll be in the office by 3:00pm Pacific time. We’ll spend a couple hours going over the software then go to dinner. The demo is tomorrow. A WellLived Life Book 1 BirgitChapter 7 Setting the Course of My Life

June 1977 Friday ended up being a non-event. The more I thought about it, the more I was sure that there was no way on this earth I could say what happened between Birgit and me was a sin. Calling it a sin would debase it into a meaningless act. I could never do that. And the more I thought about Jennie McGrath, the more sure I was that I couldn’t call what she did for me a sin, either. If the church was right, I was going to hell. And frankly, there was no way that could be true. So I...

July 22, 2000, Chicago, Illinois “Albert, do you have everything packed?” Mom asked. “Yes, Mom!” I replied, rolling my eyes because she’d asked before I went to bed. “He’ll be fine, Babe,” Dad said. “Let’s walk to the hospital.” I usually didn’t get up early, but Dad had suggested it would help Mom if I walked to the hospital with her because I was leaving to see Jane for three weeks. Mom, Dad, Aunt Kara and I left the house and headed down the sidewalk towards the hospital where Mom and...

May 14, 1997, Chicago, Illinois “Start talking!” Melanie demanded when I sat down in her office about an hour later. “There isn’t much to say. Katya found the information for me when I asked her to look into several things about Brandon Littleton, Kevin Lomax, and John Milton.” “Do you know more about him?” “A LOT more. I don’t think you want to know.” “Probably not, but I’m your criminal defense attorney, and even though San Antonio doesn’t have you involved in this, you know the CPD...

“So, how should we do these Stone’s songs?” Phil asked at our rehearsal session. “I think we all know the music, we just need to come up with a pretty awesome arrangement; we don’t want to sound like yet another cheap cover band.” “I had some ideas, if it’s okay for me to make some suggestions,” Allison said. “Of course it is,” Phil said. “Everyone can have a say, there’s no rule that says you can’t participate in the discussion.” “Thanks, Phil, I guess being the newest here, I’m a bit...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 5 MichelleChapter 77 Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous Part I

May 11, 1992, Chicago, Illinois Monday was turning out to be a LONG day. After my run and talk with Gina, and my talk with Elyse, I had a full day at the office scheduled. First was our leadership meeting in the morning, and then I had status meetings with each team. At lunch I’d gone to see Siobhán and explained that I was going to break off the sexual relationship, but that I wanted to remain friends. She was disappointed, but admitted that Thursday would have been the last time, since she...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 3 JessicaChapter 23 So Now You Turn Back Into Diana Prince

January 19, 1989, En-Route from LAX to ORD When the engines of the plane started, Jeri reached over and took my hand. She held it while we pushed away from the gate, and taxied for takeoff. Her grip tightened a bit as we hurtled down the runway, but nothing like the death grip she’d had on my arm for the flight out. The plane roared its way into the air and once we leveled out, Jeri’s grip loosened but she didn’t let go of my hand. “How are you doing?” I asked with a touch of...

A WellLived Life Book 7 Kara IIChapter 34 Old Routines and New Ideas

September 1982, Chicago, Illinois The weekend was quiet and besides homework, I worked on the program changes for Frank, called Karin, Tatyana, and Kara, and hung out with my usual study group. Monday was refreshingly normal. On Tuesday morning, I handed Katy my completed intake form. She put it in an envelope and stuck it in her bag. She said she’d let me know soon about the interview. On Tuesday afternoon, after having lunch with Stephie, I made my rounds and then I headed over to Sigma...

October 1982, Chicago, Illinois The drive back to Chicago was as uneventful as usual, and I arrived at the apartment just before 6:00pm. When I arrived, Elyse and Stephie were sitting on the couch and Jackie was sitting on the loveseat. Stephie hopped up as I opened the door and greeted me with a hug and a kiss. “Hi, Peaches!” I said. “Glad you’re home, Yankee!” “Hi, Steve,” Elyse and Jackie both said. “Hey,” I replied. “How was the weekend?” “Well, it was just Kurt with me, Stephie,...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 3 JessicaChapter 52 Lifestyle Choices

June 11, 1989, Chicago, Illinois It was just after 3:00am when I kissed Trish goodbye. She’d been an enthusiastic, energetic, and adventurous lover. We’d done just about anything either of us could think of, though her breasts weren’t large enough for a tit-fuck. The last time had been in the shower where we’d ostensibly gone to clean up afterwards, but instead I ended up taking her from behind as she leaned against the wall of the shower. “I think I’ll have you again, Steve Adams,” she...

A WellLived Life Book 1 BirgitChapter 38 Freshman Year Ends

May 1978 The first couple of weeks in May were busy with school, work, and friends. Except for Becky, I didn’t even have any dates. But I was OK with that. Well, almost OK. I wanted to see Anna, but it likely wasn’t going to happen until school was out. I had tutoring sessions with Melanie, but she still wouldn’t talk to me about anything other than Spanish. Barely a hello. I was grateful for the tutoring, but it was maddening seeing my friend this way. I hoped someday she could understand...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 44 Spring Break 1982 Part I

March, 1982, Milford, Ohio As I drove along I-65, I thought about what Stephanie had asked for and what Bethany had said without even knowing about the request. Of course, because Bethany and I were so in tune, she might have actually had an idea that I was struggling with getting involved with my sister again. I kept turning it over and over in my mind and I kept coming to the same conclusion — that I shouldn’t do it. I was torn between doing what Stephanie wanted and doing what Kara and...

You were messing with me, weren’t you?” She grabbed both my hands and smiled, “I was telling the truth, in my own way. Thank you!” She leaned forward and kissed my cheek. “So, what’s left?” I asked. “To visit UofC tomorrow and formally withdraw from classes. To spend some time with you and your...

October 1981, Chicago, Illinois I arrived back at the apartment just before 10:00pm and saw the address for the party. I decided I wasn’t particularly interested in going so I put on some music, poured myself a glass of wine, and started reading more about Russia. I was alternating between the history and culture book and the Communist Party book, decided on the history and culture book for this time. I didn’t get much reading done because I was thinking about Tatyana, which led me to...

January 23, 1996, Chicago, Illinois “Father, bless!” I said, greeting Father Basil with upturned palms. “Bless you, Stephen,” he said as I kissed his hand. The waiter showed us to a quiet table along the wall of Roditys in Greektown. He took our drink orders and was back quickly. We placed our food orders right away and he left to put them in with the kitchen. “I’m not quite sure how to address this, so I’m just going to ask you bluntly. June 29, 1995, Chicago, Illinois On Thursday, I finally had lunch with Melissa again, something I hadn’t been looking forward to. Much like with Cèlia, Melissa and I had passed an inflection point and I was left with sub-optimal paths forward. I’d been struggling with the possible solutions, and all of them had pitfalls. When I walked into Takumi, I had something of a plan. Whether it was good or not would only be known once everything played out. “I spoke to my wives,” I said after we’d...

March 1980, Hovås/Göteborg, Sweden I woke early as usual, but just enjoyed being in bed with Katt. When she woke, she hopped out of bed and pulled a robe out of her closet and handed it to me. “There’s a spare toothbrush in the bathroom. Go have your shower, then we’ll have breakfast after I have my shower.” I quickly showered and brushed my teeth, and went back to Katt’s room. She went to shower and came back a few minutes later. She dressed, and I got a very good look at her sexy body...
