Bob Lacy was looking to take a break from studying. He was current with his reading assignments and case studies but they had taken a toll on him. Tomorrow was a school holiday so there was no school. Bob would spend the off day going back over his reading assignments to make sure he understood the reasoning behind the court's decisions. Tonight it would be nice to put the schoolwork aside go to have an adult beverage.
He drove over to the local watering hole that his friends frequented. He wondered who might be there on a weekday since the next day was a workday for most people. Law School was tougher than work he thought, but the rewards that come with a license to practice law should be worth the effort.
In getting out of the car he heard his name being called. Bob looked to see that it was Terri Hines, one of the girls who had graduated High School with him. She had been going with Randy Williams the football co-captain during Bob's senior year. At the last wedding, Bob had heard that Terri and Randy had broken up.
He walked up to her gave her a hug and said," Hi, long time no see. How are things going and what are you up to?"
She hugged him back and said, "Just the usual, work and more work. I stopped to see if anyone was here but it's absolutely empty. I think I'll go home and watch the tube. What are you doing?"
"Well I was going to see if anyone was here as well, but if the place is empty, I don't know. I don't like to drink alone."
"Well, why don't you come over to my house and have a drink and watch the tube with me. I could use some company."
Bob thought about it and said, "It goes without saying that you are good company and it's always nice to be in the company of a nice looking woman. I graciously accept your offer and besides the prices are better in your house then they are there."
She giggled and told him to follow her in her car. In the time it took to get to her house he appraised her. She was about five foot six inches tall, with short dark hair and she had a nice figure. She lived in a small house with her widowed mother. Her mother Terri said was a lab tech and worked the swing shift at the nearby hospital. She wasn't expected home till just before midnight. Terri was wearing a short jacket that was open and he could see a sweater under it. She had on a plaid skirt and kept up the conversation. Bob asked about Randy and she said that was water under the bridge and preferred not to discuss it. If that was her feeling on the matter it was okay with Bob as he thought Randy was never a 'tree of owls.' Randy in breaking up with Terri confirmed Bob feelings about Randy's intelligence.
Terri showed Bob to the family room and turned on TV. She asked him what he wanted to drink. He said a beer which she handed him and she had a glass of wine. She took a seat next to him on the couch. He noticed her legs as she crossed them and they looked fine. He was still nursing his beer when she rose and poured herself another glass of wine.
As they watched TV, they talked about the gang and she him brought him up to date on some new developments among their common friends. She went to pour herself another glass of wine and Bob still had some beer left.
When she came back and sat down he asked her, "Okay... , what's going on. You are drinking down the wine like it's going out of style. Something is either wrong or bothering you. If you want to talk about it, I am here. If you tell me it's none of my business, that's okay too. Maybe whatever is bothering you is something that you want to talk about and get it off your chest."
Terri was quiet and didn't say anything for a while. She was deep in thought.
She made a decision because she turned to Bob and said, "I know you know that I broke up with Randy. The reason that I did is what is bothering me. He practically raped me one night when I didn't want to have sex with him. I'm not ashamed to say that we had been having sex for a while. I wasn't a virgin but he got drunk one night and when I said no, he forced himself on me. If that's how he was going to treat me, I told him to hit the road. Now that he is gone I get lonely at times. That's also a part of what is bothering me."
Her eyes were moist when she finished talking.
Bob thought about what she had just said and saw her looking at him for some sort of a response.
He turned to her and said, "Terri I don't know if I can give you a magic answer. I can say that you are an attractive girl with a body that other girls are jealous of and men desire. Besides that, you are intelligent and have a nice personality. I would think that once the word gets around that you are now available the guys will be calling to ask you out. You will find someone who will treat you as you should be treated. Sex is sex and it only turns into something more when two people respect and care for each other. Since you don't have a steady squeeze as you have had for a long time it is going to take some time getting use to that. But there are a lot of guys out there that don't have steady girl friends and your breakup will give them a chance to meet someone as nice as you."
Terri had been looking down as Bob spoke but she listened to every word that he said. She continued to look down when he was finished. There was a lull in the conversation. Finally, he could see her starting to smile and as she did, she said, "So you like my body?"
Bob smiled and responded, "Who wouldn't? You have a killer figure."
She put her arms around Bob and hugged him and said into his ear, "Thanks, I needed to hear that. My self-esteem has been so low and that was a boost I needed."
He could smell her perfume and feel her breasts that were being pressed against him.
Terri pulled back a little from Bob so she could look in his eyes but her arms were still around his neck. They both looked into each other eyes and nothing was said. It seemed that they looked into each other eyes for a long while. Terri started to close the gap between them and eliminated the gap completely when she put her lips against his. His lips were parted and her tongue immediately sought his. The kiss continued and the passion increased. His arms were around her, but it was a light grip.
They broke the kiss and he placed the side of his head against hers and whispered in her ear, "Are you sure you want this? I am only human but I respect you too much to do something you will regret later."
She responded, "It's something I won't regret and it is nice of you to ask. I admit that I have had some thoughts about you. You are someone I won't regret being with."
