Monday was fairly easy, as there wasn't much going on. The CO arranged for Carson to get on a TSF flight on Tuesday that was going to Ban Bong (H-12) and they would then drop him off at Muang Et (H-11) before returning.

Wednesday, Carstairs informed us that he had learned that there were considerable troop movements going on within North Vietnam itself, but no one was sure of the reason. There were also reports of changes in the leadership there.

By Thursday afternoon we were all nervous. With the Teams and Carstairs both reporting little if any activity in the area, it had been too quiet. Both Desk Rider and Thai Army Headquarters here were as in the dark as we were. The NVA should have learned by now that their depot in the mountains had been discovered and someone should have missed the three mortar teams and their security elements. It just didn't seem right, and we all wanted to know what was happening.

Friday 10 March 1967, we found out. I was awakened just before 0600 by the noise of the generator running.

"What the hell is up," I wondered, as I got up and started to dress. "Who turned on the generator?" That was when the commercial power went out, and I was in the dark, again.

"There is trouble," Suenee said, as she got up and lit the small kerosene lamp that we had here since arriving but had used very little. I finished dressing and banged on the connecting door in the bathroom for Sawyer.

"Sawyer, something is up," I told him when I got an answer. "I'm going down to see what it is." I also pounded on the Captain's door on the way out. Phillips was in the hall way already with a flashlight.

"What's going on?" he asked.

"Don't know yet. The generator woke me. I thought you were up early and started it."

"No, I was awake but reading when the lights went out," Phillips told me. We were downstairs by then and the lights in the dinning room, S-3/Operations and radio room were all on.

"Something is wrong," I told him. "I'll check the radio. You check with the guards, OK?" I told him.

"Sure," he answered, but retrieved his AK-47 from S-3 before going to check the guards, not willing to be out there with just a pistol.

"Cowboy 3 Alpha, Cowboy 3 Alpha, this is Tango 1 Bravo. Come in," I heard as I got the door to the radio room open. I hurried over to the set, which had been turned off when I went to bed.

"Tango 1 Bravo, this is Cowboy 3 Alpha, over."

"Cowboy 3 Alpha, this is Tango1 Bravo. Be advised that 'the merde has hit the ventilator' as Tango 4 Bravo is so fond of saying. We have at least four, I say again, four confirmed major attacks under way in just our area. They are in the vicinity of Hotel 13, 15, 16 and 19. There is armor in the mountain passes at Hotel 13 and 19. The other two are reported to be infantry attacks, over." The CO had come in while Carson had been reporting.

"Tango 1 Bravo, this is Cowboy 6. What is the status of the armor attacks, over?"

"Cowboy 6, this is Tango 1 Bravo. So far the local militia is holding them up using their own RPGs against them, but we don't expect to be able to stop them for long. Tango 1 Alpha has gone to Hotel 13 to assist in the defense. They are hoping to block the pass, over."

"Tango 1 Bravo, Cowboy 6. What do you know of the attack at Hotel 19, over?"

"Cowboy 6, 1 Bravo. We heard on the militia's radio that they were doing the same thing that we are, but didn't expect to be able to hold them there either, over."

"Tango 1 Bravo, Cowboy 6. We'll see what help we can send your way. Hang tight, over."

"Roger, six. Make it as soon as possible or we're really hurting. Tango 1 Bravo out." Sawyer had gotten most of this last from the doorway.

"I'm going to Thai Army Headquarters to see what I can get in the way of help," the CO told us. "Get ready to go up there Sawyer. Call me on the radio when you have transportation."

"Roger, sir. We'll get ready. Do you want Baker to go also?" Sawyer asked.

"Yes, bring the portable. Phillips will have to watch the store while we're gone," the CO answered as he headed for the jeep.

In the mean time, I was receiving calls from the other Teams. Team 2 and 3 reported there were infantry attacks on their border villages, and Team 4 reported a mechanized infantry attack on Hotel 41 itself. Thai Army elements there were doing their best, but had already fallen back to defend the town.

"I don't think the CO is going to get a lot of help at Thai Army Headquarters. This is a major attack with that many places being hit. Try to raise the helicopter company for transportation, and then call Desk Rider and ask for help," Sawyer directed. "I'll organize things here and get us ready to go as soon as we have a ride. Is your ruck ready to go?"

"Yes," I answered, as I changed frequencies to that of the helicopter unit.

"Black Horse, Black Horse, this is Young Cowboy 3 Alpha, over."

"Young Cowboy 3 Alpha, this is Black Horse, over."

"Black Horse, this is Cowboy 3 Alpha. Is your your 3 or 3 Alpha there, over."

"Cowboy 3 Alpha, this is Horse 3, over."

"Horse 3, this is Cowboy 3 Alpha. We are in need of emergency transportation to our Hotel 11 site. There is an assault in progress near there, over."

"Cowboy 3 Alpha, Horse 3. Roger. The net is full of chatter on this at present. I can let you have one bird, but that is all. We are committed to the hilt and expect much of our normal business to be changed by the present circumstances. I'll get him up there ASAP, over."

"Roger, Horse 3. We appreciate the effort. This is Cowboy 3 Alpha, out." I immediately changed frequencies.

"Desk Rider, Desk Rider, this is Young Cowboy 3 Alpha, over."

"Young Cowboy 3 Alpha, this is Desk Rider 3, over."

"Rider 3, this is Cowboy 3 Alpha. Be advised that we have all Teams reporting multiple attacks in their areas. There are armor units advancing on Hotel 11 and 19; infantry assaults in Team's 1,2, and 3's areas and a mechanized infantry assault in progress at Hotel 41. Request immediate assistance, especially air. Local forces are hard pressed and some are already falling back. This is a major attack. I repeat this is a major attack, over."

"Cowboy 3 Alpha, Rider 3. We have had similar reports from areas to your north and also from along the Mekong. What are your plans, over?"

"Rider 3, Cowboy 3 Alpha. We will be going to Hotel 11 as soon as transportation arrives. We have been assured of transportation by Black Horse 3, over."

"Roger, Cowboy 3 Alpha. Will your station remain on the air, over?"

"Rider 3, Cowboy 3 Alpha. Yes, our station will remain on the air. Cowboy 3 will be in charge here, over."

"Roger, 3 Alpha. We have already advised Papa Bear of the problem. They are doing what they can, Desk Rider3, out." Suenee had brought breakfast in while I was talking to Desk Rider, and I ate it quickly before any more calls came in.

Sawyer had finished briefing Phillips by the time I got over to Operations after eating. By now it was after 0700 hrs and light out, so we could turn off most of the lights and reduce the load on the generator. I checked the fuel and switched to a full five-gallon can of gas, then went to fill the partly empty can and get another full can to keep there as well. Suenee had been there to watch me.

"Open the new can of gas first," I had instructed her, "after placing it next to the can being used. You can tell when to change it by lifting the can. When it feels light, you need to change it.

"With the new can in position, pull up on the lock on top of the insert and pull it out quickly and put it into the new can of gas. There is enough fuel in the line and the bowl to keep the generator running for the short time it takes to do this. Lock down the insert and then close the old can. Take it to be refilled then. One of the guards can do that and he can carry the full can back here, too," I told her.

"Yes, that looks easy enough," Suenee told me.

The CO was calling when I got back to the radio.

"Cowboy 3 Alpha, this is Cowboy 6, over."

"Cowboy 6, this is Cowboy 3 Alpha, over.

"Cowboy 3 Alpha, advise 6 Alpha that we will have a platoon of Thai Rangers to accompany us to Hotel 11. Do we have transportation, over?"

"Roger, Cowboy 6, Transportation has been arranged, and our higher has been advised of the situation. They have promised all assistance possible, over."

"Roger, 3 Alpha. I'll meet you at the airfield shortly. Cowboy 6, out."

Sawyer was in Operations, and Sophie was trying to persuade him to wear an amulet on a bootlace when I came in. He had very reluctantly agreed and had just taken it from her. She appeared to be very happy with herself.

"The CO scrounged a platoon of Thai Rangers to go with us," I informed him.

"That's good," Sawyer said, "but I don't know how much good a platoon will be against tanks," He turned toward me while saying this and set the amulet on the desk. "Get your ruck and the portable radio," he continued, "and we'll head for the airfield. There isn't any way to know when that chopper will show up."

I retrieved my ruck and weapon from the bedroom and the portable radio and a spare battery from the radio room. I also got out the M-14 and loaded several magazines. I already had on an NVA ammo vest with AK-47 magazines in it. There was a very nice padded case with magazine pockets that had come with the M-14, and I placed it and the magazines in it and was ready to go. It was quite a load in addition to the pistol that all of us carried all of the time.

Outside, I saw that Sawyer had his shotgun as well as an AK-47 with him. The NVA doesn't have magazine carriers large enough for him to wear. He had magazines stuffed in his ruck along with extra shotgun shells. He was carrying a large belt that held shotgun shells and had a really large Bowie type knife attached to his LBE (Load Bearing Equipment).

"You ready?" he asked as I came out. Phillips had the 5/4 warmed up and we loaded our gear in the back, and kissed our wives before getting in. The Thai Army guards opened one steel gate to let us out of the compound and quickly closed it again. The gates had remained closed due to the emergency and would remain that way until it was over.

There was now a checkpoint set up on the road to the airfield, but they passed us easily. There were also jeeps armed with M-60s patrolling the airfield now. The airfield was very busy now, as there were T-28s and Thai Army helicopters taking off and landing all of the time. In fact several C-130s landed and discharged troops, while we waited for our helicopter. The CO arrived about 0845 with several truck loads of Thai Rangers. You can imagine my surprise when Suenee's cousin, Lieutenant Paribetra, got out of the first truck.

"Well, Sergeant Baker, we meet again," he said after we all exchanged salutes. "How is my cousin, your wife?"

"She's fine, sir. She's minding my radio while I'm away," I told him. The CO was surprised that we knew each other, but of course Sawyer wasn't.

The CH-47 arrived shortly after 0900 and we got everyone loaded on board, but had to leave our jeep at the airfield. I hoped that Tweed's radio was still OK, as it would be the only one we would have with enough range to reach the compound. Lieutenant Paribetra did arranged for someone to deliver our jeep back to the compound for us. I hoped that we weren't too late, as it was already three hours since the first call had come in.

The pilot this time was the same CWO 3 who we had flown with before. He might need that AK-47 he had gotten before on this trip. He must have poured the coal on as it was less than a-half hour before we were over Muang Et (H-11) and I was calling Carson on the radio.

"Tango 1 Bravo, this is Cowboy 3 Alpha, over."

"Cowboy 3 Alpha, this is Tango 1 Bravo, over."

"Tango 1 Bravo, we are over Hotel 11. What is your location, over?"

"Roger, 3 Alpha. We are just south of Hotel 13, over."

"Tango 1 Bravo, Cowboy 3 Alpha. Roger. We will be over your location shortly. Can you safely pop smoke, over?"

"Roger, 3 Alpha. When I hear your approach, I'll pop smoke. Land on the road. It has been fairly safe here so far, over." We headed north form Muang Et and followed the dirt road. It was only six kilometers to Xiang Khoun (H-13).

Carson popped green smoke and we verified that with him before landing. He was very surprised to see the Thai Rangers with us. The helicopter returned to Muang Et to wait for us. Tweed and Mr. now Major Bau joined us shortly after we arrived. Both were sweating and dirty from crawling and running near the front line of the battle.

The Amulets of Power III the Kennedy Wars Part 2Chapter 16

Wednesday the first of March 1967 dawned the same as every other day had. I spent the early morning hours after breakfast straightening up the radio room. It was something I had been putting off since the Teams had left on Friday, but I had decided to get it done this morning. About 1000 hrs 'the Radio' came to life all on its own for no apparent reason. "Any station, any station, this is Cowboy Tango 1 Alpha, over," I heard immediately. In my hurry to get to the radio, I tripped on a...

The Amulets of Power III the Kennedy Wars Part 2Chapter 8

The rest of the morning was pretty dull with only a few good bits of conversations to be captured. It wasn't until after lunch that we picked up the Attapu station again. John went to get Ernie while I recorded it. There was shouting again at both ends of the transmission. Ernie was laughing his ass off after he came in. They finally signed off, and Ernie eventually managed to stop laughing enough to talk to us. "What the hell is so funny?" John asked, as he turned from his receiver to...

Fields dropped me off at Ploenchit Road and continued back to the Team House, while I walked the few blocks to the Nana. I was soaked when I got there from Bangkok's heat and humidity. The air conditioning in the lobby felt really great. I went up to the room where I found Suenee talking to two of the women who worked at the hotel. The women left just after I arrived and Suenee took one look at me and said, "Shower." I knew better than to argue by now and collected my other clothes and...

Soon the only ones left there in the mess hall were the CO, Sawyer, Barlow, Morris and me. We all had a second beer. “What the hell is causing these ‘Ammunition Malfunctions’, as everyone is calling them?” the CO asked of no one in particular. “Sir, it has to be sabotage. That much explosive just doesn’t go off by itself. Even if someone were careless, it wouldn’t set off everything like that and apparently at the same time. Although how a saboteur could arrange it all to go off at the same...

The trip from Bangkok back to Korat is about 260 km, more or less by road. We pulled out of Seri Court just after 0830 and made good time once we got out past Don Mung airport. We took the turn to Sara Buri and headed up Friendship Highway. I had a much better view of the trip from the elevated cab of the deuce and a-half then I had had from the pickup truck coming the other way. It was shortly after passing Sara Buri and before we reached the climb to the Korat plateau that I started to...

This morning I shaved before going to eat, as I knew that Phillips had started the water heating after getting off guard and it would be hot by now. Also the cook had just arrived as I was getting off guard, and breakfast wouldn't be ready for a little while yet. There was no mortar attack that night either, and I made the regular 2100 hrs. report on the new radio. Lt Sykes was there to ask about the chopper. The Amulets of Power II the Kennedy WarsChapter 11

It was nearly sundown when I heard the commotion coming from the front gate and went out to see what it was. The three Chiefs had returned with the holy man. He was an older man dressed as a Buddhist monk, but his rob was very faded and worn, and he seemed very agitated about something, as they came through the front gate. “What’s up?” I asked Tweed, as I walked up to him. “Don’t know yet. The old guy seems really upset,” Tweed said, as one of the interpreters came toward us. “What’s...

The unauthorized patrol returned just before sundown. They had two wounded with them and three extra weapons. "Doc" Walls was ecstatic. He finally had some real wounds to treat and not just the usual run of boils, bites, fevers, sprains and malaria that he saw here. Neither wound was life threatening, but in this heat and humidity, they needed to be treated promptly before they became infected. At the bunker, I found Suenee already in a discussion with a group of the local women. KennedyChapter 11 Kennedys Ruby Tuesday

As Kennedy was finishing up with her racing scull, she heard a funny, startled sound from Deb and turned to see what it was. A man was standing a few feet inside the door of the boat house, watching the two of them. At least, Kennedy thought, it wasn't Agent Larkin. "Uncle Ferinc!" Deb said, obviously upset. "Niece, please go busy yourself elsewhere for a time. I will talk to you after lunch." Kennedy wasn't sure how old he was. He looked at times to be older than her father, other...

Arriving at the unit just after 0730 hrs, there was quite a surprise waiting for me. First, a good number of the students were there and looking at the surprise. Secondly, the cooks were there and making a late morning meal for the men present. Lastly there was what everyone was looking at. A new building had appeared, apparently overnight. It was located at the far end of our building from the road and was centered on the middle barracks and about 12 feet from it. It was a one story masonry...

The Kennedys 12 Kennedy in Charge

The sex would follow her mood in the rest of the world. If she got into an argument with someone, I’d get turned on because I knew she’d take that out on me later. Then there was her work in the porn industry. That was both a source of horniness and frustration for her. It was a big source of frustration for her as it was a male dominated world, where the girl’s opinions are neither solicited or heard. The girls are just assets to be used as the men want. As Kiki she went along with that, but...

It would also be best if we ride...

The Amulets of Power V A New BeginningChapter 2

Back out on the village street, we continued toward the Wat, as the sun was close to setting. We reached the masonry walls around the Wat while the sun was still visible, making it about 1815 hrs. The walls had been painted or whitewashed at some time in the past, but portions of the paint was now peeling. There were gardens of various types of vegetables on both sides of the Wat and presumably behind it also, which were tended by the monks. We passed through the gate into the Wat and looked...

The Amulets of Power IV the Burma ConflictChapter 11

During the formation, MSG Sorenson checked everyone’s uniform and medals before the Major appeared, and he reported to him that everyone was present. The Major had a few words for us before we prepared to leave for the Airbase. “Nawng-awn should be a peaceful place. However, we will carry our weapons and six magazines of ammunition each just in case it isn’t as peaceful as it is supposed to be. We’ll be leaving for the Team House to draw weapons right after the formation.” He then turned the...

The Amulets of Power IV the Burma ConflictChapter 26

Friday morning, it was late before we got up and took Lesia to breakfast. Tweed, Phesila, and Dang were having breakfast when we arrived at the small restaurant near the hotel. We didn’t see anything of the Starlings until that afternoon. This morning there had been a notice on the bulletin board that there would be a formation at 1400 for both A-Teams. We didn’t have any shopping or touring to do, and just stayed in our rooms. Our daughters played together some and after lunch both took a...

The Amulets of Power V A New BeginningChapter 4

"Must you wear the guns here in town?" Chanthra asked looking at me with a frown on her face. That stopped me dead in my tracks. I had never considered not wearing them. Having a weapon at hand had become a way of life for me over the last nineteen plus years that I had been in the Army. It had been reinforced significantly in Korea during the war, and became a way of life when I joined Special Forces a short time after leaving Korea. "Is it necessary, my Champion Mike?" she asked again...

The Amulets of Power IV the Burma ConflictChapter 12

At home that evening, I gave Tweed a general outline of what went on during our meeting with Colonel Page. I didn't disclose what was in the letter or who it was from, as the Major had asked me not to. "So what did you do all day besides wait for us to get back?" I asked, as I finished my explanation. "Oh, I spent some very informative time with Sergeant Daniels. I originally went to see him to find out what he might have of local interest. I got more than I bargained for," Tweed told...

"Sergeant Baker, you and Sergeant Tweed see me immediately after we all check in!" the Major said in a strained voice when he had recovered from the sight of Suenee and Phesila standing outside the hotel with our children. Captain Tamusarit had already walked over to Suenee and greeted her and Phesila with a traditional Thai greeting. "Sawat Dee krup," he said with a smile, as he waied. "Sawat Dee ka," both women replied with a wai and a smile. "It is good to see you again, Suenee...

The Amulets of Power IV the Burma ConflictChapter 16

Things remained quiet for the next week and a-half. The 25th was Christmas, and while it felt a lot more like Christmas up here in the mountains, there was no big celebration. The cooks had received extra food on this week's shipment, and prepared a very nice meal for us on Christmas, but there was no real celebration, no trees or gifts. Of course the Thais don't really celebrate Christmas, but they were happy to join in eating the extra food provided. Payday, the 31st, was on a Wednesday...

Starling had left Operations when I returned, but was soon back with the pieces of his Army Green Class A uniform. Suenee took them and placed them on the chair that she had been sitting on. "I will have these ready when you come on payday for your wedding," she told him. As quietly as she had spoken, the Major had picked up on it, and turned to look at both of them. "What wedding?" he asked. "Sergeant Starling and my student, Noon, will be married on payday when he returns to Chiang...

The Amulets of Power V A New BeginningChapter 3

We continued until about noon. The cart only made three or four miles an hour where the road was in good condition, which wasn't always the case. There were a few places where it was so bad that we had to get out, and push the cart from the back while Ute encouraged the buffalo from the front. Thankfully those places were few, but less bad spots than that were frequent. Around noon, Ute pulled the cart off the road, and under the shade provided by some tall trees and stopped. "We stop...

KennedyChapter 17 This is War

Kennedy walked the mile or so to the house, arriving a little before six. Mr. Glastonbury wanted a blow-by-blow account of the battle with the bats, then a summary of the poker game. "So, did you win a great deal?" "No, as near as I can tell, I lost fifteen cents. A couple of the others at the table did well. Pipes and that Carlos fellow. Dennis and Don Valentine did the worst." "And some of them have heard of Slayers?" "Yes, sir. The older ones for sure. Dennis didn't know. I...

On returning home on Saturday afternoon after the briefing and the meeting in the backroom of the club, Suenee announced that she, Phesila, and the children would be leaving on Tuesday, the 14th, for Chiang Rai by train. "By train!?" I asked, shocked. "Yes, there is a train to Chiang Mai that we can take from here in the afternoon. We will go as far as Lampang on it. It will be morning when we arrive there. We left the hotel following that for a restaurant which turned out to be the largest and most expensive one in Pak Chong. It was certainly more impressive than the places where we had eaten previously. The building was masonry with a wooden second story. There were many types of meat on display such as roast chicken and duck, there was red barbecued pork cooking over coals still. Just the smells were delicious. There was also the smell of freshly cooked rice and the other items being...

KennedyChapter 30 Sunnydale

Mr. Giles had asked Kennedy if she would drive; what started out as a favor became the thing to do as they drove across the US. Day and night seemed meaningless. Mr. Giles wanted to stop for gas only; Kennedy was amused that he had no problem with her using her debit card to pay for it. If you needed something to eat or a comfort stop, you rushed inside and did whatever business it was that you had to do. The two other girls were English and half the time their conversation seemed...

KennedyChapter 4 Kennedy and the Face in the Window

Kennedy tried not to let her chest stick out. It was, she thought, just a small embarrassment, but it was an embarrassment nonetheless. At barely thirteen she looked only slightly more like a woman than she had at ten or twelve. She'd grown a foot, true enough. Her breasts were now visible -- at least to her mother, who'd insisted on dragging Kennedy to Macy's to buy bras. Afterwards, Kennedy was struggling with the changes to her body and the only advice in her universe was coming from...

KennedyChapter 29 The Bringers Bring It On

Kennedy trailed her oars in the water. Behind her Marian was still breathing hard after their latest run. "That was nice," Marian said, catching her breath. "It was," Kennedy agreed. They'd worked out signals so that Marian could be ready when Kennedy changed pace. The coaches were still having cat fits about Marian not matching Kennedy stroke for stroke, but the "slow it down" admonishment was never going to fly as good coaching advice. "Kennedy," Marian started to say. Kennedy...

KennedyChapter 26 Drivers Ed

Kennedy straightened out from the curve and set her car in line for the next corner. That another car, drifting along behind her, had to make the choice between hitting her or backing off made no mind to her. She set up easily for the corner, drifted around it, then accelerated away, now far ahead of the next nearest car. A few seconds later she took the checkered flag. Only two laps, but hey, a race is a race! Winning wasn't just anything, it was everything! She loved driving these...

KennedyChapter 5 Kennedy Goes to Camp

The next morning Kennedy was waiting for Mr. Glastonbury when he came into the practice room. "Sir," Kennedy asked diffidently, "did a Slayer die last night?" He looked at her curiously. "Yes. The Watchers Council let me know early this morning. Why?" "I felt her die. It was like I was her. Then I was in this other place..." "They would have told me if you'd been Chosen," Mr. Glastonbury mused aloud. "I think I was only half-chosen, sir. Some black woman, I mean, she was...

KennedyChapter 18 After the Math

Kennedy finally let go of Ruby's cold hand and stood up. Pipes was crouched next to his wife, doing what Kennedy had been doing -- crying and holding her hand. She looked around the room. Victoria was being sick in a corner, heaving over and over again, uncontrollably. Harriet was pale and trembling, sitting next to her mother, who must have fainted, as she was lying on the ground. Mr. Glastonbury was standing with a phone in his hand, talking into it. She curled her lip in distaste....

KennedyChapter 21 Duel Mundane

The next morning seemed to dawn unusually early, and it was only because Kennedy hadn't done anything strenuous that she was awake when Amy knocked on the door to their room. The two of them joined a half dozen others, including Cindy. Kennedy laughed at Cindy's backpack. "Is it still full of rocks?" "Five more pounds than last year." Several of the girls hefted Cindy's pack and shook their heads in wonder. It was a good workout and Kennedy and Amy were back in the cabin before any...

KennedyChapter 27 Other Evils

Kennedy kept busy during the summer, trying not to think about the camp she couldn't attend or the friends she couldn't see. Twice she went to play poker in Manhattan with Pipes and the others, each time using a different route, a different way to get there. It was a little like being grounded, but this was by her own choice. Instead of doing what she truly wanted, she buried herself. She worked out, she studied, she read books for pleasure, and she watched TV more than she ever had...

KennedyChapter 22 Duel Arcane

Kennedy got another hour of sleep before it was time to get up, but she was awake when Amy came to wake her. They showered again, both holding each other's eyes. "I was scared the other night," Amy told Kennedy. "Scared for you. I saw you stagger. I thought you were shot." "It was a dart from a tranquilizer gun. It didn't work." "I don't pretend to understand what went on, after that. I saw you standing there, so brave... but so alone. I wanted to run out and grab you and drag...
