"I can't wait. Let's go get ready before the stores close." Jen said enthusiastically and then she added, "Which house should we take her new clothes to Sam?"
"Why not enough for both? Half here, half there." I made a command decision.
Maria looked shocked. Jen, Vicky, Kim and Pat just smiled.
"Hey listen," I brought up something I'd been thinking about during the drive over. "I haven't talked to you about this yet Pat, but since you quit your other cleaning jobs you're more than welcome to give up your apartment and move in here with us if you want."
"That would be great Pat, and much more convenient." Kim nodded her head.
"And you'll save having to pay rent too. Do it Pat." Jen offered her opinion.
Vicky hadn't said anything so Pat looked around at us and then she fixed her eyes on her, obviously searching for Vicky's reaction to my suggestion.
"Are you kidding?" Vicky laughed. "I'd love it. Say yes."
I noticed Maria struggling to hold back tears of joy for Pat. Pat herself was unable to hold back her tears, and her lower lip quivered and her voice broke when she said, "I can't believe ... I don't know what ... yes."

After the girls had scramble off to go get ready leaving me, Maria and Pat alone, Pat looked up at me and said, "Mr. Sam, I don't know what to say. I..."
"Pat," I interrupted. "You don't need to say anything. If'un you like it or not, you're family and there's nothing you can do about it. Just accept it." I kissed her on the cheek.
Maria had remained silent during our conversation but as soon as I straightened up she rushed into my arms and kissed me with as much fire as I could ever remember being kissed with. "Mr. Eldon?" Dana questioned approaching me while holding out her right hand.
"Yes, Sam Eldon," I answered taking her hand and squeezing it gently. "And you must be Special Agent Peel. Kim told me you'd be dropping by to have a look inside the safe. She'll right down."
