What is a family? How do we become so attached to those that we grow with? Those that know us the best are the most capable of hurting us. Why do we always give them the power to do so? To claim someone as part of your family is to accept them into your life, into your heart. Those inside you are able to cause pain like no one else. This could be because they know you so well. They know which buttons will hurt the most. They know your secrets. They know what causes you pain. Lovers, brothers, mothers, those that you trust the most will always be able to hurt you more than your enemies.
How many times have we been told that things will be made up to us? There is no way to make something up. Either it happened or it didn't. Experiences are each individual, and each important. No one experience can ever take the place of another. No thing or series of things can ever take the place of a loss. Every pain we experience has no way to become replaced. There is no way to undo hurt. The only thing we can do is patch it up. We place scars on top of scars and create hideous monsters out of our lives.
Vampires can live much longer lives than any human. Many of them are capable of living longer than they do. It is very uncommon for a vampire to die of natural causes. It is even less common for them to die of old age. Those that attempt to mingle their lives with humans experience loss after loss. Everyone they love will die on them. Everyone they trust will die.
A terrible thing a vampire must learn is that not everyone they loved as a human will be able to accept their new 'life'. Lovers will have to live with the constant fear that the demon they share a bed with will become hungry and lose control. Family will become untrusting. How can a demon truly be the same as the human that was loved? Those who live the longest lives have placed scars upon scars. A vampire's life has been scarred by love, loss, pain, fear, trust, and every human emotion and experience. The longer he lives the more scarred his life becomes. His skin becomes harsh and cold. He seals himself inside his own safe world. If you do not let anyone inside, you cannot be hurt by them.
The vampire houses are not just the bloodline. Those within the houses are family. Every turned vampire has a hole within them where they used to love. They desire to fill this void. Some cover their pain with a thirst for life. Others seek the companionship of others. The houses provide a family to those that need connection. It is just easier all around for a turned vampire to separate himself from his previous family. They can in turn go to their new family, their brothers and sisters, their new bloodline.
In life we have to deal with potential threats from all directions. We should never have to fear our family. It takes a special kind of man to turn against his own blood. The same is true for vampires. Once accepted into a house a vampire forever has a family. To turn against your family is to turn against yourself. There are no good reasons. There are no exceptions. The wrongdoings of a family must be handled within the house.
The bloodline of the vampire houses starts and ends with the First. Each of the houses has their own branch of a family tree, but they all feed off of the roots. The First is connected to every vampire. In his slumber he remained oblivious to their various deeds. When his family betrayed him he reacted as any patron must. He crushed the rebellion and destroyed the one who betrayed him. Kaan was banished and marked as siar. The title doesn't translate directly into English. It is used only to describe someone who committed the worst possible betrayal, their family. The word is barely used these days as it denotes a person of such low scruples and character that they stood against their own family, their blood.
It is hard to trust anyone with your secrets. Your family is the most likely to be privy. Siar is one who broke the most sacred trust. He is marked as someone who will never be trusted again. If you can be tempted to break the trust of your family, how can you be trusted to keep the trust of another? A family takes care of its own. If someone is hurt their family is the one who will lick the wounds. If he has a problem within your family, it is to be handled within the family.
There are few things held sacred these days. In the human society, family is not even revered. The world is a frightening place when anyone can turn on anyone else and no one can be certain of the trust granted to another. We just have to hope that their honor remains intact.
How could I not feel it? Every time my Aaisha passed from one body to another I had stirred. The moment she died woke me completely. I did not know what it was at first. All I knew was that I was in pain. The centuries crashed down into me and for the first time in empires I became aware of my physical body. The time spent away from myself were not kind to my physical form. I was now part of the room I had laid down in. My flesh had fused with the stone. My muscles had turned to rot.
I tried to move and again knew the pain of reality. My muscles didn't respond to any amount of will. I couldn't tear myself out of the stone. I had melted away as the years passed and yet my body wouldn't die. It clung to life, draining the smallest amount of erashim from the room around me.
The link I shared with all of my blood was thin, weak. No wonder I didn't even feel it the last time, I wasn't truly awake then. I was still linked back to my home world. That desert of a world that tried to drain the life from me. Even here it tried to reach for me. It must have caused my new physical form.
When I went to sleep so long ago I had wanted to die. I had lost my Aaisha and though her spirit lived on in a new body, it would never be the same for me. Now that her very soul had died, the dull ache had spread. I felt nothing but pain. Why is it so hard to die? Why can't I just stop this?
I have been lying to myself for so long. I have felt love. I still do. I was dependant on someone else and will never be whole without her. It has torn a piece out of my chest and I will never recover that part. There was a hole in my spirit, a gaping wound through which my life wanted to pour out. Yet I didn't die. I awoke.
I needed to know what had happened to Aaisha. How could I still love her this much? Why do I need her? I have wanted to be free of her ghost for centuries. No matter how powerful I was and how powerful I became I could never escape her memory.
I reached out in every direction, drawing power to me. It was slow to answer my call, but answer it did. I opened my mind to the river of thoughts moving above me. I searched for any clue regarding my love. There it was, clearly etched in the memories of the world. She was dead. I watched the replay and couldn't believe it. Again and again I watched as the demons arm burst through her chest. I felt her life drain out of her to fuel his transformation.
I acted brashly the first time I lost her. I destroyed the body and banished the soul of the monster who had killed my Aaisha. Now she was gone forever. I will get my revenge. This immobile body wouldn't stop me; nothing would.
KAAN.
siar.
This time you die.
I was temporally lost when I felt the world shake again. My bloodline tore as thousands of my kin suddenly died, thousands more humans died. What was happening? I shuddered under the force as bombs fell one after another. Each explosion took with it part of my family. Each death killed a small part of me.
I soared into the air. I missed this freedom but it wasn't the same. I couldn't feel the wind on my face. I couldn't feel the chill of the air. I was merely a specter, a ghost. I hovered over a crater where Kaan had built a mockery of my monument. Something was moving deep below the surface. Demons that should be dead were absorbing the death ridden energy of their fallen comrades. They were no longer my children; they had become something else entirely. It is time again for me to act in this world.
The Hunter main base of operations in Los Angeles was filled with activity. Due to blackouts and radio disturbances few messages about the attack on Vandenberg had been received. The last messages received came shortly after Tiro had left the base. Eagle took command the way he had been trained to do. If Tiro arrived too late, or was defeated, the base would be the only resistance in the area against Kaan. Eagle had ordered preparations for the defenses to be stepped up. The watches increased in numbers, both men and frequency. Throughout the night half of the defenders remained on high alert.
Within minutes of Tiro leaving the nuishii could feel the Consensus rippling with increasing force. Just as the life of someone can change the world, their death can rock it too. Those vampires left behind felt Aaisha's death as if touched by a cold hand. They had all felt the hand of death before. It didn't take special training to know that a powerful vampire linked to their blood had passed. Those close to Aaisha knew instantly when she died.
Eagle quickly stepped in and stopped the attempt to rush to the rescue. He knew that with the main host of their army at Vandenberg they would need to empty the base to mount any sort of rescue party. The status of their attack force was still unknown.
Aaisha had gone out knowing she might not come back. Every member of her force knew that same thing. If Aaisha's army had been defeated, a second, much smaller force wouldn't be able to do much more.
Faced with the likelihood of being the only resistance, Eagle started planning the next stages of the war. "If the others are not lost it is going to be impossible to hold the fort here. Kaan can send army after army and level this complex." He spoke to an empty room, staring at the desk where Drake had issued his orders from.
Crystal had other opinions about the proper course of action. She paced back and forth about the room she now shared with her sister slaves and her mother. She was still connected to Tim through the link they had formed. No time had been spent exploring it but she knew it was her that had called him, her master, from wherever he had been. With every step she paced she could feel the fire echoing through the bond.
She knew that Tim was in pain but competing commands echoed through her head leaving her stuck pacing. Kaan controlled her. He had given her specific commands that still demanded to be followed. Her other master, Tiro, had burned a command deeper into her. His command couldn't be shaken from her mind. She was his. Every time she felt Kaan's commands causing her to act, Tiro's command stepped in and released her from it.
How was she to know how to act? Her will had been beaten every time it showed. Even now that she was free from Kaan her resolve was slow to muster, but she knew what she needed to do. She could almost hear something telling her how to act. The buzzing in her ear wasn't Kaan's command so she was willing to listen. The voice sounded like Tim's.
The other girls had been experiencing the same things. As slaves of Kaan they had been tortured physically. Now that they were being deprived of their rescuer and new master, they didn't know what to do. They couldn't help but feel a longing to be with him. It was in their programming. They were, after all, perfectly trained slaves.
Be it selfishness, foolishness, need, or logic, all four girls made their way to the entrance of the base. One by one they followed their emotions as if they were commands given to them. No Hunters got in their way. No one tried to stop them. The base seemed to forget about them as they were guided by instinct down the halls to the entrance. They reach the front doors at almost exactly the same time, none knowing exactly why they were all there. No words were exchanged as the girls followed their commands out of the complex.
The Ioshari stood with Drake and Sinbad. They spoke in hushed tones as if the atmosphere of the base required quiet. The land smoked and smoldered as Tiro spoke.
"Are you certain there are no other survivors Drake?"
"I can't be certain. I just don't feel anyone. I don't see any threads." He stopped for a moment, "I know that our efforts are futile. I am incredibly thankful for you two for finding Chimera and I, but I think it is time we face the truth that no one is left alive under there." He made a gesture toward the piles of rubble. "I was lucky to be alive and I still don't quite understand it."
Drake was weak and sore. Among other aches and pains he was amazed that he hadn't died. "It worked... I believed... no, I willed that we would... I would not be crushed by the rock. I will never understand this power will I? How can I expect to have mastered it in the last month though? I certainly have been busy enough. I will have to make the time to study this." The nuishii closed his eyes and focused again. "When will Chimera be moving again?"
"The change won't take much longer," Tim said. "Chimera will need to feed when he wakes up though. He will need energy to finish his transformation. We will have to figure out something soon."
As if he knew he was being talked about, Chimera screamed out into the night. He lay a distance off, writhing as his transformation progressed. The changing Hunter needed his rest. Soon he would need something with considerable more substance. Throughout the change he had been emitting some very distressing sounds. At Tim's request they had left him alone to change. It would be more dignified for him to do it by himself. The few hours of his transformation would be the weakest time of his life. It doesn't befit a hunter for his comrades to be forced to watch his weakness.
I soon found myself watching my latest direct descendant. He stood with his commanders, emerging from the rubble of their battle. So much had happened to him. He was no longer the boy I had lifted up from living the pathetic life as slime. I granted him the ability to make something of his life. He has become Ioshari. My children still live. I can feel them within him. They live on to continue their duty, their hunt.
He now bears the marks of my bloodline clearly. They mark his survival of Kaan's betrayal. It is amusing that I can summon an ounce of pride for this boy I barely know. He was chosen for a reason though. Partially he was in the right place at the right time, but he also had the traits I knew he would need. I seem to be making less and less sense the more I say. He was kind, soft spirited. He had seen the darkest of humanity and still continued on hoping. He reminds me of Aaisha.
Tim knows the pain caused by Kaan and those like him. He will be my vessel. The Ioshari hunt again.
I reached out slowly with my spirit. He stopped speaking when I touched him and time froze. "Tim, my child, you have done so well, but you have felt so much pain. I am here now. I will make everything better. We need to avenge Aaisha. Will you help me?"
"Do I... Who are you?"
"You know who I am. They call me the first. I came to a world filled with life, now my children are trying to destroy it."
"The First... you are dead."
"No, just sleeping. The time has come for action. Will you help me?"
"How can I help you? I am just a hunter."
"You are Ioshari. We are one. We are blood."
"If you are awake can't you just obliterate Kaan? Aren't you are the First, the alpha?"
"I have slept for too long Tim. I told you the night you turned, the fate of the blood is with you. I cannot allow Kaan to live, but I don't have the strength to stop him."
Saying this is likely the hardest thing I have ever done. Harder than when I told Aaisha I loved her. "I need your help Tim, please."
"You already have saved my life many times. Indirectly, and perhaps unknowingly, but it is only because of you I am here now. Join me, father, let us hunt as blood."
"Clear skies and good hunting, my brother, for tonight we join as blood."
As the last rays of the sun faded from the sky the shadows deep within the crater began to move. The rubble from the collapse of Kaan's fortress shifted. Waves of dirt and pebbles flowed down the sides of the basin as the land shook. An earthquake measuring high on the Richter scale rocked the Hole.
A peak of light appeared. At first simply a speck, the orange light grew from the center of the crater and spread out. The portal first created by Kaan grew out of the ground, swelling as it drew in the life force of those who had died. More energy was pulled out of the survivors as the gate continued to grow. It grew steadily, finally shaping as a half-circle, two hundred feet in diameter, sweeping through the crater's center like a haunting replica of a rainbow.
The portal grew unchecked by anyone. Kaan had lost control over it as those on the other side began to draw power through it, unleashing their own will on its growth. The portal had taken on a desire of its own. It attracted all of the life force around to it in an attempt to grow larger and to sustain itself. The connection between the worlds was strengthened and the Consensus wouldn't be able to keep the invaders out.
"Where do we go from here Ioshari?"
"I don't kn—..." Tim arched his back, his mouth open in a silent scream. The air around him shimmered for an instant. His eyes flashed bright white and back to their now normal pale blue.
"Tim, are you alright?"
"I am fine. You are going to the Hole. Sinbad you are going with him. Do not enter any battles victory isn't ensured. I am going to the Hunter base, and Chimera is coming with me." The Ioshari's tone would allow no questions or hesitation. "Keep watch over the remains of Kaan's fortress. I will be there shortly."
Tiro could feel himself give the commands. It wasn't him however giving the commands. The First spoke through him, feeding him the words to use. He strode over to Chimera's crumpled body and lifted it up into his arms. The Ioshari spread his wings and launched into the air.
The night air was warm though the speed they traveled made it seem much colder. There was too much smoke for human eyesight to pick out anything clearly. The demon flying had no problem with his vision. The trip took no more than five minutes from the moment Tiro lifted into the air and the time he landed on the roof of the waste management office building. He laid Chimera on the cold stone, kneeling down so he could whisper in his ear.
"My son, an incredible weapon will be released on this spot very shortly. Your life or death now rests on your will. Harness its power or die. If you awaken join me in the hunt. The choice is yours, live or die."
Tim watched in the First's memories as the bomb was ordered. He struggled to the surface of his mind. He needed to stop it, to prevent the deaths it would cause. He was unable to act though. The First was firmly in control of his body and his other side, the true owner of their shared body, knew the need for what was to happen.
My family... How can you let this happen, Tiro?
The greatest sacrifice must be made by those who have nothing left to sacrifice Tim.
I just found them again, how can you expect me to give them up so easily? I will not lose them. Tim forced himself to the surface. He struggled against two opponents, the love for his family giving him strength. Finally gaining the foreground, Tim reached out to the link he shared with Crystal.
"Calm yourself, Tim. Your family will be safe. They have long since left the complex." The First spoke as a father would to his bickering children. "When this is over you will be able to find them. Do not worry. Now we need to get move quickly, tonight's work isn't nearly finished."
Again the Ioshari took to the skies. He winged off in the direction of the Hole. Tiro slowly exerted himself back in control over their body as Tim relaxed. The First was content to let the hunter steer.
Sinbad was quick to pick Drake up into his arms and run toward the Hole. Flying certainly would have been faster, but Sinbad knew it wasn't worth the energy. He would need all of the strength he could muster.
The country side was still in flames. No fire fighters were around to put out the fires. No one cared that the fire was spreading. The vampire covered the ground quickly. He drew energy out of the fire as he ran; an impressive feat.
"Well look'ee tha' Drake, it really is'a hole now."
"Wow, Sinbad... that was sad."
"Anything to ease the tension. Speaking of which, you know what we do about the giant portal over yonder."
The two stood at the rim of the crater left by the bomb. The arch of light from the portal was clearly visible through the rising smoke. The basin was molded of melted rock and various other materials. Few remains of buildings, cars and other urban fixtures were barely recognizable as they were firmly packed in and around the rest of the rubble.
Earth witnessed a massive meteor shower in 1950 which brought along with it extraterrestrial life, albeit as unicellular organisms, several of which crashed as meteorites in Central Asian, East Asian and South Asian countries with a few of them landing in the North and the South Americas. These single-celled organisms had a lot of similarities with viruses on earth. By pure chance these alien viruses found humans to be the easiest host to infect. The infections caused by these viruses quickly...
FantasyBy five o'clock on Friday afternoon the teens were set. The stage was 50' X 30' and included the Hilton's concert grand at stage right. The band was set up in their usual configuration with Dewayne at the right front, Tony center with the ubiquitous fourth microphone and Kyle at stage left. Tina's keyboards were between and to the rear of Dewayne and Tony. Rebecca's position mirrored Tina's and both girls' equipment was on a platform raised 8" from the stage floor. Jerry was, of...
Gee picked Karen up and carried her to the sofa in Wayne’s living room. “What on earth happened?” Jo asked, coming in from the kitchen. “Gee, let us take care of Karen so you can tend to Nina. She’ll trust you more than me.” Wayne directed. Gee reluctantly gave care of his lover over to Wayne and Jo as he ran outside to see Nina now swinging quietly on the rusty chains. Gee approached her slowly. “Nina? Are you okay, honey?” She looked up at him with eyes gradually focusing. “Gee? I had...
BLOODLINES 2: POST-VAMPIRE DEPRESSION BY Cassandra Anaconda Morrison Being a vampire is not as easy as you might think. In the first place, one has to pretty much swear-off direct sunlight - which means you can forget about that golden tan which is considered the epitome of sexual desirability. Instead you have to cultivate that alabaster pallor most people associate with dead things. One can compensate for this with body make-up of course but I would advise any fledglings out...
It was really too easy, I reflected when it was all over. I'd decided what I wanted, and getting it was almost anti-climactic. I say almost, because climaxes definitely weren't in short supply. It all came down to blood magic. When Jowan came to me with a half-assed scheme to learn blood magic from Uldred, I didn't agree to it for power. The fact of the matter was, my harrowing was approaching, and I was terrified. My friend, Neria, had accidentally let slip more information than she...
I am so tired of all the bullshit about vampires. Yes… we do exist, so that’s not a myth, but all the rest… well, the crap people think they know about us is mostly nonsense. Firstly, we do not live thousands of years long. Around two hundred years is as good as it gets for us. Fortunately, we do not age and all mature vampires look like they are in their mid-twenties. This, of course, is a great advantage and sets us apart from boring humans. In addition, unlike humans, Vampires are also...

Blood Lust The winter wind howled fiercely as I made my way back to the town tavern. Pulling my tattered top coat tightly around my neck. Deathly afraid to be late for my meeting with my mysterious benefactor. I think about the night before last while sitting alone at the rear of the noisy dark tavern Counting my dwindling money and wondering how I would live and survive in this strange new world in...
From the writings of Aarcidmus, high archivist and lord researcher to High Emperor Sedimer'tiskoniar: Milord has been obsessed as of late. His only concern is the weakness that has been spreading. The sickness seemed to come from nowhere, and yet, minor cases of it have been appearing in my research dating back several imperials. The weaker lords have been becoming ill and dying. The weak have vanished. The powers all demon kin has been weakening over time. I have not been able to make a...
I was thinking what a pathetic life... I didn't see the car in front of me until I was nearly on top of it. Dim flashers through the snow caught my eye and I was able to slow enough to avoid hitting it. I wondered, as I slowly passed by if anyone was inside. I could not make out anything but the outline of the car. As I drove past I saw the lights flash faintly in the mirror. There was someone in the car. I slowed and started backing towards it. I'm not in the habit of stopping for...
Paul showed up early the following day to his new job, eager for a new beginning. No longer would he be an alpha, and worse case scenario he could at least pretend to be normal. When the first dogs came in, he began their check ups, trying to hide the fact that he could hear them. He succeeded as far as the police were concerned, the dogs however knew better. Watching his every move they reacted to his every word and intention as if they clearly understood, and indeed they did. In an odd way...
1590 Very few things in the world had the power to frighten Electra. Her master's wrath happened to be one of them. And even that was usually only enough to make her take a step back and bow her head. Right now she shrunk down to the floor, positively cowering. Dracula's shadow aura was practically causing the whole keep to tremble with his rage. "Dost thou dare presume to insult my intelligence, Electra?" "No milord," Electra responded weakly. "I spoke only truth to you." "Then...
Her hair is like blood, her eyes violet jewels And she governs the fates of all whom she rules. Her voice is of silk, but her words are of steel. Look in her eyes, and your fears become real. A blossom of blood, with thorns that can kill, She will bend all your dreams to the ways of her will. Her beauty is pure as the clear driving rain, But to enter her world will bring only pain. The blade that she holds you cannot defy. Kill her you might, but she will not die. There is but one...
BLOODLINES 3: BATS ALL IN LEATHER I was growing extremely disillusioned with the LAPD. Here I had been hiding in my (recently deceased) Uncle Gregory's decaying Hollywood mansion for almost three weeks and STILL they had not discovered the body of Rick Herzog. I mean... what in the Nine Billion Hells of Nyarlathotep are we paying taxes for? I was almost tempted to grab the first cop I saw and drag him over to Rick's apartment. Saner council prevailed, however. And I soon realized...
What is the nature of demons? Are they the demons case down by god, the spawn of Satan, as humans tend to believe? Do they come from a different world? What are they? Demons come from all over the worlds. They are dimension travelers, but most specifically, they are beings that feed off of life. They are parasites. There are few that know the true origin of demons, most of them being the first demons. Some of them are still alive. Stories claim that the demons came originally from a harsh...
My name is Jackson Shaw; at least that is what I call myself now. I have gone by many names over the ages. I am a vampire. I was turned the year the great pyramid was completed. Yes, I am over 2000 years old, ancient even by vampire standards. I have lived in the shadows for most of recorded human history. I say human history because it has been a long time since the title human could be associated with me. Time teaches all to he who has the luxury of eternity. And what the ages have taught me...
SupernaturalI made my way from the inn to the market east of there, where Clive had said they had been ambushed. When I arrived, there was a bustle of activity, normal for a market of this size, as well as a grouping of soldiers on the far side. I suspected that was where the attack had transpired. I weaved my way through the crowd until I arrived at the other side, where three soldiers were investigating the area. “Good afternoon gentlemen, what exactly happened here? Do you have any idea who did...
Six years ago... It was almost midnight. Brad and Ritchie had already retreated to their tents; Anthony was alone. Aside from the chirping of crickets and the crackle of his campfire, it was quiet. The pale light of the moon danced eerily on the ripples of the lake. He sat calmly in front of the fire, gazing out around the darkness of the woods. She was out there. He was certain he'd seen her once already. Last night when they got back from their hike he was certain for a split second...

Chapter Three: The Angel of Death I had no fear for my life, if he had wanted to kill me he would have already. I realized that the warm feeling I had been getting was him feeding on me, but I was confident in my assessment that he wouldn’t make me his next victim. He wanted me to panic, to flee and leave him, but I couldn’t. instead I leaned forward and embraced him. He became very shocked at my reaction. ‘Who made you the way you are?’ I asked. ‘I have never told this story before,’ he...
Blood Sword by Eddie Glover Brenlan felt the familiar twinge in his body. He reached for the sword he'd brought back from the east, the sword to which he was cursed. "That's a hell of a sword!", the bartender whistled in admiration. Brenalan turned with a frown, "You have no idea of it's strangeness or powers my friend.". He could now feel the sword's pull and the beginnings of his own change. "Help!", a woman screamed from outside. "Damn! It's about time I was...
Blood Sword 2 by Eddie Glover Brenlan watched from the shadows as the men he'd been tracking approached a lone woman. He'd long suspected that these men were mercenaries, just the kind of scum he'd been looking for. The sword began to vibrate in his hand, letting him know that it would soon be needing the blood he so often gave it. Should he fail to appease the blade he would become a buxom woman of whorish looks. "I have no quarrel with you.", the woman said as the mercs...
“If you do not mind, Davik,” A familiar voice from behind me said, “I would not mind a plate of that delicious smelling food.” I jumped in surprise and turned to see who had just said that. To say I was shocked would have been an understatement. “What in the seven hells is going on, Lillian? You’re a Voguel?! How can you change into a wolf without a blood moon? Why have you been helping me all this time?” She laughed at the rapid succession of my questions and it was only then I realized,...
The rush of wind in the face, watching the people move like ants, being withdrawn from the crowd, above it. Tim experienced all of these things as he leaped tall buildings in a single bound. Sinbad had first led him to a store that was still open at two o'clock in the morning. It was a specialty shop catering to a particular crowd. Suffice to say, Tim walked in wearing the tatters of a pink dress, and left wearing a suit of black leather, with a long black trench coat on over it. Guided by...
The three story-tellers stood at the prow, looking at the faces of the love-struck women, as they heard the story of Garreth and Therese. They couldn’t help but feel they were telling a love story, the way they all sighed and moaned, at all the romance of it. They had made it to the tip of the western coast and came to Neist Point Lighthouse, perched atop a jagged out-cropping of rock, the sheer bluffs surrounding it. The yacht plowed through the breaking waves, making the turn to head north...
My name is Jackson Shaw. I'm a historian, a philosopher, a night club owner, and oh yes, a vampire. I live in Ohio, and for the most part I have a neat, quiet existence. I wake up every morning at 6, hop out of bed, have a shower, get dressed, and then head over to my favorite coffee shop for my morning tea. This has been my morning ritual ever since I arrived here about a year ago. Now I know to most, this is not what you were expecting the life of vampire to be. I know that the imagination...
SupernaturalI have a medical history of high blood pressure. It's not surprising, even though I'm only twenty-eight years old. My parents were both hypertensive, as were my grandparents. The life-style that I live doesn't help much either. On my days off I drink beer and smoke marijuana, both to excess. I smoke cigarettes and drink coffee every day. I don't get much exercise either. My doctor has given me some pills to keep it down and for the most part they work pretty well; except for in one...
Iain saw his men following MacRae towards the shore and broke from cover. Screaming as loud as he could and waving his arms, he hoped his brother, or one of the others would hear or see him. Grayson joined him, both waving their arms and yelling the MacLean motto and then more voices joined in. Stuart MacLean was riding with his clansmen in the last half of the charge, when his arm was pulled by one of his men and told to turn and look at the two men on the battlefield. Iain was instantly...
The Justice rocked against the anchor chains, as its guns roared, its shots peppering the thick stone walls. Chunks of stone sprayed off the walls, leaving foot deep impressions behind. From the south, MacRae watched as the cannon took shot after shot, until it found the gate. The wood shattered and splintered open with the impact, leaving the castle open to attack. From across Duich, the thirty two pound cannon barraged the west wall, demolishing the new cannon battlement and any means of...
The day was growing old, and the sun was starting to set. Who could of known that something so simple and so regular, like the sun setting could have drastic and horrific consequences. As the great ball of fire abandoned the lit sky, the world around it collapsed leading for it to change dramatically. Darkness spread across, leaving no gap unfilled, nothing could escape its cold grasp. As the light left, it seemed like other things vacated the world. Hope and happiness seemed to turn...
(((Just combining chapters to reduce length of my POST lost.)))BLOOD DIAMONDSChapter 1The Present... A Trash Dumpster, New York City"Rambo to Sugar Tits. Rambo calling Sugar Tits. You awake Sugar Tits? This is your wake up call.""Yeah, I'm awake Rambo," I groaned. Rambo's irritating, nasal whine wasn't something I wanted to wake up to. Ever! "And, stop calling me Sugar Tits."The earpiece/microphone was coming lose from my ear and I seated it firmly back into place as Rambo continued. "Hey, you...
Alicia hated her job. Sam's Tavern was ostensibly a biker bar, but its true clientele was a horrid mix of wannabes and parolees. The parking lot contained far more beat-up Honda Civics and rusty Ford Escorts than it did Harleys. As she wiped up yet another spilled beer on the bar, the perpetrator of the mess gave her a sharp slap on the ass, laughing uproariously at his own daring. She sighed but otherwise ignored his actions; she knew from experience that showing a reaction would just make...
Davik He used the whip again, demanding to know how I had gotten my abilities and what had been used. I tuned him out, thinking of other things, when a strange tickle occurred in the back of my head. Not on the skin, but deep inside, not unlike when I found the fire that triggered my abilities that first time. The tickle appeared just after a strike of the whip and after two more, it became much stronger. Instead of a tickle, I began to feel emotion, but it seemed off as if it were not my...
17 years ago... The sharp whoosh lasted only a split second before the dull thump of the arrow piercing the target sounded. The barb had struck precisely on the little heart drawn in red crayon on the drawing of the human-shaped figure mounted on the wall with the very cartoonish-looking set of dripping fangs drawn on the otherwise blank face area. Little Kaeli started to bounce up and down with excitement, but stopped as holding the bow made it a cumbersome gesture. The curved length was...
I awoke with a start, uncertain when and where I was. Something had disturbed my slumber. I looked around and it was as if I hadn't yet opened my eyes, there was nothing in sight. I do not mean that it was pitch black, I can see perfectly in no light, but there was simply nothing to behold. Stretching out with my senses I found that I was not on earth any more, it was some shadow realm. Upon taking inventory I noticed a lack of physical form; I had not brought my body with me, inconvenient....
Everything in Nature adores the chaste virgin, as she walks through her Almighty Father’s Garden of Paradise, naked and unashamed. She will never know sin, so long as the snake is kept out of Paradise. When she has matured, the lover sees the beauty so breathtaking to behold, and innocence so pure, surely she must have the blood sacrifice of innocence, to atone for accursedness in his seed. Her lover places her needs for security and commitment, above his own base instinct, elevating...
Colin MacDonnell rode with haste through the countryside towards the attacking MacRae’s. It was his duty to watch them and ride back when they started to march for Donan. Having lived, travelled and hunted in the area all his life, he knew the best route to take and where he could safely watch them without being spotted. It was his deepest hopes as he prayed, that he could live through this night and return to his wife and family, alive and well. He’d seen the results of battle with Claymores...
As the men prepared the ship to leave port, Therese looked for a guard or soldier to give her last letter to. She spotted a soldier on patrol, coming up the pier and called out to him. The soldier recognized who she was and made haste to the gangway, before it was raised. He stood in front of her at attention and waited for her direction. ‘I want you to give this letter to the Earl, no one else. Make sure that he gets it, after, I have left.’ Her emphasis on after, being stressed to him. The...
The arrow went right through his Adam’s apple, all he managed was a gurgle before falling forward. The sound he made must have reached his comrades, as I heard them increase the speed of their approach. When he had hit the ground, the arrow was pushed even further through his neck, causing a spurt of blood to escape the wound. I could see that the arrow had pierced his spine, near the base of his skull. Within moments, he stopped breathing; a large puddle of blood was oozing out around him....
1875 Annabelle breathed deeply as her eyes opened. With a level of vigor she never thought she would ever feel again, she sat up in bed. Impulsively, she began to laugh. She felt ... strong. Revived. Alive. The fever that had ailed her for days, that had already claimed the rest of her family, was gone. She was herself again. No, that wasn't quite right. She felt better, stronger now, but not necessarily like herself. It was more like she felt like someone else. It didn't matter. By all...
The morning glow of sunshine washed the deck in orange hues, as men prepared the ship to leave port. Therese looked for a guard or soldier to give her last letter to and spotted a soldier on patrol, coming up the pier and called out to him. The soldier recognized who she was and made haste to the gangway, before it was raised. He stood in front of her at attention and waited for her direction. ‘I want you to give this letter to the Earl, no one else. Make sure that he gets it, after, I have...
While Garreth and Grayson awaited the start of the trial, James MacRae had already broken the cease-fire pact and sat with several leaders of smaller clans, at the head of the table of Andrew MacDougall. Andrew, sat on his left, in his deteriorating Dunollie Castle, while to his right was a captain of the Earl’s guard, dressed in full regalia for representation of his position. McCauley Fraser, Harlan Douglas and Jacob MacLean sat to either side of Andrew and the captain. He had put it to the...
Note: This is a work of pure fiction. Any persons, places or events that may seem familiar are purely by coincidence. Blood Wrong The sound, frogs croaking and of millions of crickets tuning up their legs for the same night time symphony that is played on most every night out here by the big pond. The occasional sound of a bird or two calling as they flit about the cattails before settling in for the night was familiar too. So peaceful out here. Out where the skies open up...
Paul walked into his apartment two hours later to find Rachel waiting for him, sitting up on the couch. "You're home late." Rachel commented indignantly. "I was unaware that I had to ask you permission to stay out late." Paul said with a raised eyebrow. "My apologizes Alpha." Rachel said recognizing her mistake. Sitting down in the love seat across from her, Paul said, "Marcus explained to me why you are here. I had to admit I was wondering." "Every new Were is expected to have...
1912 The door suddenly burst open, and Electra stood in the doorway. She looked very angry. "This madness has gone far enough!" Annabelle instantly sat bolt upright, clutching the bed sheet over her unclothed chest. The man in bed next to her, Paul, frantically shrunk back against the headboard. When Electra's rage was such that even Annabelle was frightened by it, it was only natural for someone else to go into outright panic. "First of all, we still have a right to privacy in this...
Drake dragged his sword as he wielded it. The blade was by no means light, but it seemed as he lost the strength to wield it, it gained the strength to wield itself. The battle had been long, and now it seemed no end was in sight. The on-lookers didn't shout encouragement. No witnesses spoke. He fought the monster he had once called Sage. He fought for his life. He had been betrayed by the man who had been a father to him. The monster lifted his sword and abruptly charged. Drake brought in...
Tom listened to the operation over the radio and had heard the orderly commands and replies of the SWAT team turn to gunfire and screams of pain followed by silence. He arrived at the premises less than five minutes later to find a scene straight out of hell. Bodies in blue uniforms lay everywhere, the entire scene painted in the rich carmine hues of fresh blood. He stared numbly for a moment, wondering how something like this could possibly have happened. He finally tore his eyes from the...
"I'm deeply sorry for your loss," said Father Likembe and nodded solemnly. He struck Ethan as a man of integrity and good will. His words sounded true enough, so Ethan obliged a sincere reply: "Thank you, father," he said and nodded pensively, suddenly lost in thought, his eyes fixed beyond the mass of people waiting for a meal. There was a peaceful murmur in the air, rarely broken by the sound of crying children. The people that had gathered weren't restless at all. He had been...
PART FIVE- Just Like Antoinette I dreamt the most splendid dreams that day: Kittie, Nathan and Dean working together in the restaurant, Dean being drilled by questions about the late 1800’s and all the things that he had learned. Dean told the highlights of his life but never delved into too much detail. Nathan and Dean joked back and forth, slightly irritating Kittie. “If Dana were here we would have an even match, but you guys are just picking on me!” she pouted. The guys just laughed and...
PART SIX: A Night to Remember Dean and Nathan got permission to use Ruby’s back room to change into their new suits and they joined us out by the car. We were quite a sight so see, the men in classic suits and Kittie and I in large billowing dresses with tight corsets. Kittie sat in the back with me and Nathan drove with Dean playing navigator, it would have been impossible for her to drive anyway. Kittie and I communicated telepathically and held hands as we headed out of town. “You know...
The rumbling had begun again. The ground shook so hard that without handholds we fell to the floor. The lights dimmed then went out. The cave became menacingly dark. I let Smyth go and covered my ears with my hands. The rumbling noise inside the cave echoed loudly. It seemed that the rumbling was becoming more frequent. Two lots of it in less than an hour had me worried. At last the rumbling and shaking stopped. I stood shakily then and helped Smyth to her feet, stumbling a little in the...
Chapter 1 April 1589 — Loch Leven The drenching rains fell heavy as they often do in spring, in the western highlands of Scotland. Through the trees in the early morning, grey haze, a flash of lightning illuminated the murderous eyes of a small army of clansmen peering upon the sleeping village. The evil in the eyes of the leader showed the mindset on carrying out the events about to happen. They made their way into Ballachulish on the south shores of Loch Leven, the thrumming of rain on...
Niya could already hear the tell-tale screams of cries of agony that marked Ashen's arrival as stood trapped in a small room at the back of the mansion. Looking for any possible escape she saw the window as she shot the bolt in behind her in time to see the door shake on its hinges. Rushing forward she burst through the glass rolling as she hit the ground. Not wanting to turn around, she broke into a run past the bodies of the dead strewn about the front yard of the lonely mansion, her only...
Lillian I left everyone in the room and made my way to the cellar of the, opening the door to find Violet, on the floor. The chains of the shackles were looped around a metal bracket on the floor, even Davik’s unique strength would not be able to pull it up. I looked down at her, memories of her sleeping after our love making filling my head and alerting me to her ruse. I walked up and planted a hard kick to her abdomen, causing her to scream in pain, as well as curse me for hitting...
Davik I could not tell how long I had been here, but my stomach was beginning to demand that I accept the food that the young girl had been bringing. True to her word, Brenson had stopped using blunt objects and began using a whip. I had to be careful as the pain of the strikes could have made me bite my tongue off, which would have been very painful, and I doubt I would have been able to grow it back. The whole time, he was asking how I was able to do the things I could, where I got my...
I am a vampire. I did not turn as any other has. I was not bitten by a vampire. I had no sponsor into the world of darkness. No one showed me the canal from which to draw power. My beginning is clouded in mystery, even from my own memories. I simply am. I was not from this world called Earth. I arrived from another world. I came from chaos. I come from a world of fire. My world was a place where the air is so thick with sulfurous gas and toxic smoke that nothing can survive simply by itself....
"General Santos, you asked for the latest photos." The General was passed a manila envelop containing satellite images of Vandenberg Air Force Base. For the last week Vandenberg had been under close surveillance. A night time aerial photo sweep was taken viewing heat sources. The base was photographed, showing fuzzy images of bodies. Over the next days the daytime sweeps showed nothing. At night however, the ghosted bodies appeared. This had caught the attention of those watching the...
I was told when I finally woke up that I had been out for nearly five hours. Everyone wanted to be there with me when I woke up, but they knew the importance of the burning of the skulls. Lillian had stayed by me and told the others when I finally came to. I explained to them the meeting I had with Phaltina and that the curse had been released from the skulls when they broke apart. Kayla was a bit disappointed that she would not be using her mortar and pestle, but she was happier that I was...
