We raced up the hallway. Ahead, I could see smoke and hear shouts. The shouts were filled with panic. The smoke quickly got thicker and I nearly ran into Patty when she stopped.

"Patty!" I heard Reggie shout. "What happened to Craig and Robert?"

"The AI reported that a section of the ceiling collapsed and trapped them," Patty said as she pushed the gurney against the wall. "Meiko and I brought gurneys though."

Reggie nodded and seemed about to say more when the AI spoke. "Communications to the laser rooms and hallway outside have been reestablished. Current damage prevents full analysis of repairs. Priority has been given to hall way repair and main repair modules."

"I don't want that, I need more people here!" the scientist's voice rang out. "We have a battle in space to fight."

"Without the lasers, we don't have much we can do," I heard Yvette snap back. "Timothy and Louis are here, and know the systems we have left."

"Louis is currently controlling your tug module, or so you say. He can't do that and run a weapons station," the scientist growled. "We need more people here."

I leaned against the gurney, trying to catch my breath. Reggie vanished through the shattered door to the laser room. A thick black smoke was pouring through the broken airlock, leaving the hallway covered in soot. I could see Patty sagging against the wall as we waited.

Pushing away from the gurney, I took a step towards Patty. Before I could advance further, Mike staggered through the doorway. He was walking backwards with his hands held at about waist level. "Easy!" he called out.

He continued emerging from through the doorway and I realized that he was holding a body in his hands. Beyond him, I could see Fred holding the legs as Reggie tried to support the torso.

"Quick!" Reggie cried as they got to the gurney Patty had brought. "Get her on the gurney now!"

Fred and Mike moved in unison, lifting their arms and stepping around the gurney. They immediately set the body down, with surprising gentleness, before stepping away and starting to run back into the laser room. As they stepped away, Patty gave a scream of horror.

I glanced down at the body and had to swallow my own scream. The body was clearly that of Barbara, but she we no longer the tall beauty who dominated the colony basketball games. Her long hair had been melted down and formed a ugly plastic helmet over her head. Worse, a huge part of her lower torso was a jagged mass of torn flesh covered by the remnants of a suit of battle armor. "She's alive?" I whispered.

"Barely," Mike replied as he placed a gentle hand on my shoulder. "But she needs a medical pod badly. You should move her. I need to join back in the recovery."

I was moving to grab the gurney when Jacques and Lindsay ran up. "We'll take the gurney," Jacques said as he arrived. "Watch for when the other is ready."

My friends did not wait for a response, but shoved the gurney into the middle of the hallway and then raced off, the gurney giving of a faint plaintive wail. Patty was starting to stand back up when Reggie looked out.

"Meiko!" he shouted. "The speakers in the rooms are still out. Stay there and listen for what's happening in the command center."

"What's happening is that I'm not seeing anyone come to help support the rest of your staff," the voice of the chief scientist snapped. "One Sa'arm ship has been destroyed, but there is still one to go, and the people here can't seem to move enough of the space defenses to help the ships fighting to keep you safe. When will I get more people?"

"Yvette, who knows those systems? I know that Timothy and Louis did most of the setup. Do we have anyone else?" Reggie asked.

"Brad knows how to run them," One of the twins shouted.

"He's still out. Whatever caused the explosion in the laser rooms knocked out everyone. From the bleeding coming from the ears, I'd say we have major concussions. He'll need time in a pod before he can help," Reggie replied.

"You have medical training?" the scientist growled.

"He might not, but as the head of our medical department and having seen to Linus who was also knocked out by the blast, I can affirm his diagnosis. Linus has a major concussion as well as severe blunt force trauma to his back. He'll recover fine, but I need to give him two hours in a pod and then I recommend at least eight hours of rest before he returns to duty. And since he could be helped to stagger to medical, I'm guessing he was one of the least injured," Donna called out.

"Who else do we have then?" the scientist snarled. "I need someone to take over this weapons station and my marines all tell me that they don't recognize the setup."

"It's a planetary defense grid control," one of the twins said with a sigh. "It requires special training to learn to use it. Let me think. Terrence knows how to run it."

"Can't help you. I'm still working with both ships to get their people teleported to medical, and all of my backups are unavailable," Terrence replied.

"Deborah was learning how to run the controls," Timothy mused.

"She's got a crushed pelvis and a shattered collarbone," Alexis called out as she stepped into the hallway. "We need to get her into a medical pod, but are still working to get the debris off of her so we can lift her without increasing her injuries."

"I'll do it," Mike said. "I've been getting some practice."

"How much time have you worked at it?" Louis asked. His voice had the strained cadence of someone who was trying to maintain intense concentration on a difficult task.

"Two hours," Mike said.

"Get here!" the scientist screamed.

Mike gave an apologetic look at Reggie and Fred before dashing off down the hallway. He was following the direct route towards the colony center, but stopped only a short distance away and then came running back. "The hallway is completely blocked by a cave-in. I could see two concubines lying in the rubble," he shouted as he dashed by.

"Shit!" Fred called. "That must be Craig and Robert. We need someone to check on them."

"I can't leave medical one, Linus is in a pod and soon I'll have Barbara and Debby to take care of," Donna called out. "Shawna, Ed and Gina are all at medical two and can't leave. I'll try to send David, but can't until Barbara arrives and we get her into a pod."

"She's not there yet?" Reggie called out.

"Oh god!" Donna replied. "Never mind, Lindsay and Jacques just pushed the gurney in. Sorry, this will take a lot of concentration."

"Shit," Reggie spat. "Fred, Alexis, let's get Deborah out and onto the gurney. Meiko, stay here to relay messages if we get any. Patty, I think Christie was moving around in there. Can you check on her and help her walk to medical if she can stand? Xavier, you better check the hallway, we don't need the roof to break open."

Everyone started moving away from me. Overhead, I could hear the scientist continue to complain. "This is impossible. Where are your reserves? How can you be this disorganized?"

"Easy, we usually would have every concubine helping so that the citizens could worry about the big picture stuff," Ulla said as she slid up to stand next to me. "But your arrogance has our masters trying to do it all without the usual levels of support to protect us."

Yvette had another answer. "We only have twenty-two citizens, and this is about as bad as it gets. We have you arriving just as the Sa'arm put a serious effort into wiping us out. Fortunately, we have two ships from Borneo here to help, but that means casualties we have to help with."

"You must protect the artifacts!" the scientist screamed. "I don't want the Sa'arm hitting the bases on the moon with any of their weapons."

"There is only one Sa'arm cruiser left and it's now engaged in maneuvers against Sif. I doubt it's going to be making any more attacks on us," one of the twins said. "Although they already hit us once."

"What?" the scientist screamed.

"I'm not sure what they used, but tracking confirms that the explosion in the laser bay was due to some kind of projectile. Based on the blast, I'm guessing it was some kind of mining charge they use to clear debris from blocked tunnels. The concussion wave was huge for the size of the explosion."

"Affirmative," the AI called out. "Similar charges are used on other Confederacy planets to help clear blocked tunnel passages. Had this explosion occurred in one of the central hallways, it might have knocked out everyone in the colony. The airlock for the laser rooms helped contain the shock wave and prevent more injuries."

"We could have been killed!" the scientist screamed. "I thought you said you had this planet protected and pacified."

"James has never sent in a report with that kind of message," Yvette snapped back. "We are relatively safe against a Sa'arm landing, but we've always known that they had a chance to get us. But you were safe from that pressure wave. The colony has internal pressure doors and there were several between us and the explosion."

"Analysis is limited, but based on the timing of the blast, the projectile arrived just as the doors opened to allow laser two to rise to the surface. It must have fallen through the lock before it closed out the atmosphere," the AI intoned. "This fits current readings, which show that the doors separating the colony from the atmosphere are intact and closed. The force of the blast would have damaged closed doors. There are no leaks or holes in the skin of the colony."

"You mean we effectively got hit by a lucky shot?" one of the twins cried.

"Sounds like it," I heard Timothy whisper. There was a moment of silence. Before I could say more, Reggie emerged from the laser room airlock. His careful way of walking made it obvious he was carrying a body.

He continued his slow walk. Behind him, Alexis and Fred stepped out. Between the three citizens, Deborah's battered body lay in an improvised sling. They did all they could to prevent the body from bouncing or hitting anything as they turned in the hallway and then raised the body up to the remaining gurney. Debby appeared to be unconscious, but let out a blood-curdling scream of pain as they gently set her broken torso down.

Reggie immediately sprang away from the gurney and pushed Alexis to the back. "You can explain to Donna about her injuries and help her there. We'll start working to get the others to medical. If you can, see about freeing up some concubines to bring gurneys."

"Got it," Alexis shouted and then started pushing the gurney down the hallway. Reggie watched her disappear into the still smoky hallway and then looked at me.

"Any news?" he asked.

"Just that the explosion appears to have been from some kind of Sa'arm mining charge, or at least that's what the AI is reporting. Supposedly, it must have entered the laser bay before Laser two ascended for its flight into the atmosphere," I said.

"Damn," Reggie said as Fred collapsed against the wall and slowly sank to the floor. "Well, the good news is that everyone in the rooms is breathing. But they definitely could use time in a medical pod. However, Fred and I need a short break, we had to dig Deborah out from under laser one. The blast picked it up and threw it against the wall."

"So we have no lasers at the moment," Yvette's voice called out.

"None," Fred replied softly. Exhaustion permeated his voice as he looked up at the ceiling. "Laser two is a twisted ruin. Laser one came off its moorings completely. The laser might be intact, but it can't be used until it's moved back to its original position and all the connections tested. I expect we will be waiting a couple days for the AI to complete repairs once we clear the pods."

"What about the wounded?" Yvette asked.

Reggie seemed about to speak when Patty appeared. She was standing between James and Christie. Christie had her eyes closed and was clearly struggling to stay standing. My master looked even worse. Blood oozed from his nose, and he held his free hand to the side of his head. Reggie jumped up to help Patty as they fell through the doorway.

"Master!" I cried and ran forward. I stopped before I knocked him from his feet, but threw my arms around his waist and then shifted so that I could take his weight on my shoulder and free Patty to help Christie.

"James," Reggie said. "I didn't expect you to be up. The blast knocked everyone out."

James nodded slightly and then seemed to collapse. He swept both of his hands to the side of his head and held it. A dead weight settled on my shoulders as he sank towards the ground.

"I need a report!" the scientist shouted. "Is James alert?"

"Not hardly," Patty replied. "I was in there to help Christie and found him trying to stand. He hasn't said a word, and I think he's running on instinct."

"Who's that?" the scientist screamed. "And get James here to command right away."

"Meiko, are you still there?" Donna called out.

"Yes," I replied quietly.

"I demand an answer to my question private! Who spoke just a moment ago!" the scientist shouted again.

"That was Patty," Reggie replied. "She belongs to Linus, but agreed to help try to get some of the injured to medical. I guess James stirred while she was helping Christie stand, so she helped him to the doorway."

"How is he?" Yvette asked.

I looked over at my master. His eyes were closed again, and I noticed that his legs were no longer supporting his weight. Only the fact that Reggie was on the other side of him prevented him from dragging me down to the floor.

"It looks like he's unconscious again," I said. "We should probably get him to medical."

"That's what I was trying to say," Donna said with a huff. "Meiko, bring him to me now. I need him here to try to calm Brittany and he probably needs time in a pod."

Reggie reached around James to touch me on the shoulder. "You need help carrying him to medical," he said.

I nodded. Just then, we heard shouts down the hallway. Looking up, I could see Esther leading a small army of concubines and children. She walked up to Reggie and smiled. "We've been listening. You need help and we are here to provide it."

"Great," Reggie said. He looked at the children. "Kids, down that hallway you'll find Craig and Robert. They might be trapped under some debris. Dig them out and then see if you can help them stand. Once they are free take them to medical."

"Robert!" a voice cried. I watched a woman dash down the hallway, her hands covering her mouth.

"Robin!" another woman cried out. I glanced over to see Marie standing there. Her son was clinging to her leg.

"Who?" Reggie asked as Robin disappeared into the smoke, which still clouded the corridor.

"She's Barbara's other concubine. And before the pickup she was Robert's wife," Marie said. "I guess I'll lead the kids in helping her."

"Good," Reggie said. He slipped James's arm off his shoulder and stepped away. James immediately became a dead weight on my shoulder and we tumbled to the ground.

"James!" someone shouted. His body was lifted from mine. Struggling to my feet, I looked around to see Orlando and Victoria holding my master up.

"What's wrong with him?" Victoria cried. The young girl had tears in her eyes as she helped keep James standing.

"Whatever hit the laser room knocked everyone out. We need to take him to medical," I replied.

"How is Debs?" Orlando asked.

"Alexis took her to medical a short time ago," I said. "She was hurt pretty badly."

"Oh god, what happened to her?" Victoria asked. "I need to see her."

"Vicki! Help Meiko get James to medical. Your mistress is already on her way there and you can see her then," Reggie shouted.

"I ordered James to report to me here," the scientist's voice shouted from the ceiling. "Soldier, you have no business giving a different order."

"James is still unconscious, so how can he report to you?" Reggie shouted at the speaker. "There are a couple concubines who will carry him to medical."

The hall was silent after that as Victoria and I struggled to carry the body of my master down the hallway. More concubines came streaming down the hallway as we exited. We had just reached the intersection with the outer tunnel when Janice ran up.

"Esther suggested that we all help in the laser room. She and a couple others are keeping all the babies in the school. The noise has frightened the babies so they are busy, but they felt more people helping was more important," she said as she reached over me to support James. "Lead the way and make sure we aren't stopped."

I sighed with guilty relief as the weight of James' body was removed from my shoulders. Then I sped up to get ahead of Janice and Victoria to lead them towards the medical bay.

"How could this happen?" Victoria asked. "It's been so nice for so long."

"Too much happening at the same time," I said quietly. "We never expected to have to deal with someone from Central Command at the same time a battle was going on. It's pretty clear he's rather disruptive. I imagine that Tam and Tif are having trouble doing their duties."

"I can't believe he complained about their outfits," Janice said. "I mean does it really matter here?"

For several minutes, we were silent as we navigated the hallway. In the distance, we could hear people running, but no one barred our way as we approached the medical bay.

"It seems that our new governor thinks the outfits worn by citizens does matter," I admitted.

Nothing more was said as we covered the last yards to the medical center. I stepped inside to see Donna standing up from a medical pod. She turned to look at me and frowned.

"I see James has been brought to me. How is he?' she asked.

"Heavy," Victoria commented as she and Janice stepped into the room.

"He ain't heavy," Janice said. "He's my master and my love."

Donna and I giggled as she walked over to my sister concubine. Donna put a hand on James' chin and lifted his head for a moment. When she noticed that his eyes were closed, she used her free hand to pry his right eye open for just a moment and then nodded. "As I expected, much like Linus. He'll be fine with a little time in a medical pod."

Donna stood up and walked over to one of the medical pods and began pushing buttons. The pod slid open with a hiss.

Woman rides162Man Anal Train at the Nudist Colony

My wife had passed away a few months ago. I had been in a rut ever since then and was feeling even more depressed this dreary, rainy morning when the phone rang. It was Miss Tully. Miss Tully had run a nudist colony for decades that was really a front for adult swingers like my wife and I to enjoy a week or two of carnal pleasure with members of the opposite sex of all ages. Although my wife and I were well into our middle ages, last year my wife and I ended our trip in a three-way with the...

Failed Colony

I was sitting at a stop light behind a liquid nitrogen tanker, waiting for the light to turn. I heard the roar of an over-stressed engine. I looked into my rear-view to see what at first glance looked like a big, bright yellow El Dorado hurtling towards my rear bumper. It was going so fast that I couldn't even begin to guess its speed. I glanced back to the front of my jeep. The tanker had just begun to pull away. I had time for two words. "Oh, Fuck!" The head-rest kept my neck from...

A Peril at IshtarChapter 8 Planning the Colony

The door had barely finished opening when a dark haired missile charged me and pulled me inside, checking every inch of me for bruises as she did so. Meiko was so attentive and vigorous in her probing that I could not get a word in edgewise and soon was laughing as her light touches started to tickle me. My other ladies came over and I offered them all a group hug as Meiko started to calm down. "I'm fine," I said. "Well, you scared us," Bethany said. "And why did it take so long to...

The Infantilist Colony

An old mining town, once full of people working, shopping and playing, laid abandoned for decades. The company that owned it had shut down the mines due to lower resources and discontinued use of the minerals. With it being out of the way and no major highways or interstates coming close to it, the town was left to fall apart and be consumed by nature. That is, if it wasn’t for the Infantilists. A small, non-religious group, the Infantilists were just people who wanted to live their lives...

Crisis at IshtarChapter 28 The Peace Ends

For the next week, every citizen had concubines hovering around him or her. If a citizen showed any fatigue, they were dragged back to their pods and forced to sleep. James and Yvette grumbled a bit about the concubines taking over, but the rest was definitely doing them good. Once again, gathering in our large recreation room became a popular pastime. Tyson, Terrence and Brad even came up with rules for three-person hockey. Teams were formed from a citizen and his concubines. Janice and...

Crisis at IshtarChapter 57 Official Notices

My opponent abandoned his attempt to take over the teleport pad after about twenty minutes. I stood at the controls, waiting for the next attack. I was checking to see if I could set up some filters to help limit the scope of the attacks when I heard someone clear their throat behind me. I froze, but a hand kept me from turning around. "Don't panic," I heard Brittany say. "I just didn't know how to get your attention. You were concentrating." The console signaled that another attempt...

The command modules environmental controls activated. Trat awoke hours later. The lights were dim, but there was life in the ship. Trat took some time to recover from the deep sleep and review the ships status. Everything looked, as it should. The ship had already begun to dig a way for Trat and some remote ships to leave the command module. The time had come for the colony. New at the nudist colony

Wife and I are in our mid-20's - been married for 5 years, and no kids. Sexually, we were well matched, but recently we thought something new for each of us might be interesting - but stuff like wife-swapping wasn't for us because of the risks involved in a relatively small town. After some investigation on the Internet, I hit on what looked like a good idea - an outfit in Jamaica ran what was advertised as an "adult nudist colony" - no one under 18 allowed, and a full medical exam was...

Crisis at IshtarChapter 33 Uneasy Truces

Brittany and Kitty relaxed slightly once James had disappeared from the viewscreen. Kitty looked a bit frustrated. "I want to help him, but I can't move fast right now," she moaned as she put a hand on her very pregnant belly. "I felt the same the last weeks before giving birth," I admitted. "James understands." Kitty nodded sadly as she claimed an empty chair and sat down. She quickly rolled the chair next to mine and threw her arms around me as I continued to watch the viewscreen...

James waved at the ceiling. "End this call," he muttered. "The communication has ended," the AI replied. "Please note that Major Bonham is looking for ways to conduct surveillance of this side of the colony. Do you wish to block his attempts?" "I should," James replied with a snarl. "But if he only sees rooms and not the hallways it shouldn't matter too much. Just make sure he doesn't find out about our little hold out tunnel. I'm beginning to fear we might have to use it...

Mickey and I giggled and then ran off down the hallway. Behind us, we could hear Cleo's cheerful squeal as she twisted around to kiss Tyson. RebelChapter 70 Wounded

The fight had been short and vicious, and when it was over, I lay in a ditch of muddy water with a searing wound in my left shoulder and an ankle swollen to twice it usual size. I smelled smoke and levered myself up to see that off to the east, the woods were on fire. Screams told me that wounded men were being burned alive, and the smell told me that human flesh was roasting, dead or living. I sat up, found the tampion in my pocket and shoved it into the muzzle of my filthy musket. Then I...

The Human colony

LV-876 was a prime example of a lush alien world. 500 volunteers were dispatched on a colonizing mission, or at least that was they were told. In fact, the mission was a top-secret experiment set about by earth officials to test the unique effects of alien biology directly on human subjects and would be guided closely by a small research group on hand. The vessel landed itself on a rather arid stretch of land near the planets ocean, a lush forest with strange pink trees and dense vegetation sat...

spent a few days at a nudist resort. had some wild times with a few of the older ladies but my most enjoyable experience there was with the older man who ran the library of the sun club. the library is only open on Sunday and I had been waiting all week to get in there and take a look at the amazing collection of classic nudist videos they have available. As I walked in a handsome older man with glasses greeted me. He had a clean shave, good tan, cut cock and long hanging balls. We exchanged...

Colony

You walked down a long hallway. With each step you wondered more and more what on earth this could be for, and why are you going so far into the aft of the ship. Finally after what seemed like over an hour of walking down a hallway you see a door. This door made of carbon fiber was black with a nice pattern and a shine. On the door was a single silver Plack that read: Doctor Goloboi New Eden Project You wondered what this could mean, or at least give you at least a slight clue of what it...

Crisis Management

I glanced over at her for the fiftieth time. Two rows ahead of me, two machines to the left. I quickly forced myself to look back at the row of TVs hanging from the ceiling, not wanting her to catch me looking at her again. Not that she had any idea I was even alive, mind you, maybe I was more afraid of being embarrassed by someone else catching me ogling the ultra-fit redhead with the ponytail effortless gliding away on the elliptical machine. So instead I kept sneaking peeks every 30 seconds....

Crisis at IshtarChapter 7 A Night of Bliss

The next morning James woke us up for the final time. Madoka had fussed during the night when she was hungry, but each time I managed to fall back to sleep. Beside me, I could hear Kitty and Brittany complain mildly about the movement. James, however, would not be denied. "Sorry my loves, but the AI just said that Bethany is awake, and I thought I'd collect her. Janice, I'm sorry I couldn't come and collect you when you woke," he said as he left the room at a near run. "Hey, I woke up...

Crisis at IshtarChapter 8 Castle Games

The brief baby boom ended eight days later and the population of our colony had increased by forty-eight children. Every one of the original thirty-seven female concubines gave birth although only Madison, one of Linus Van Stern's concubines, gave birth to twins. She was thrilled to have her third and fourth children and was soon offering to set up a day care and baby-raising clinic for any concubines needing a break. Her master simply glowed that he now had two sons and a new daughter to go...

Crisis at IshtarChapter 9 A Bully from a Good Seed

Whitney was still hugging Tamara when a man entered the command post from the teleport room's passageway. "Hey! It's the unattached slut! Are you giving it out now! You refused me on the ship! You're unattached and can't do that!" The man reached out to grab Whitney. His hand had barely touched her when James burst from his chair and in a flying tackle slammed the man against the wall of the room. "Tamara, get her out of here. Xavier! Get me whoever is in charge of the Tintagel...

Crisis at IshtarChapter 10 Preparations

Tina and I made our way to the doorway and headed out. It was clear that the conversation had turned to technical matters regarding the repairs and James would be tied up for some time. He waved as we left but was quickly pulled back to one of the panels to start reviewing the damage and suggested repairs to Tintagel Castle. In the hallway we found Alexis walking with a couple of the concubines from Tintagel. Both were wearing splints and bandages obviously created by tearing up a shift. She...

Crisis at IshtarChapter 11 Short Goodbyes

The next week it seemed I spent much of my time finding excuses to hide in the household pod or the Concubine's refuge. James had locked William in an otherwise unused habitat pod near the original command center, but the crew of Tintagel Castle proved to include nine more men who refused to keep their hands to themselves. Most of the concubines figured that out the first night when these men spent much of the welcome party drunkenly calling for Lindsay, Bonnie and Cleo to perform lap...

Crisis at IshtarChapter 12 What the Probe Brought Back

Life settled down again once Tintagel Castle left for home. As expected, Brent's retest scored him as a five nine and James quickly ordered him thrown in a recycler. After that, the citizens appeared to be concentrating on the slow expansion of the colony and setting up the new living area for visiting crews. The musical practice was now all about perfecting the dances and singing. As we could all see it coming together there was a contagious enthusiasm creeping into the concubines. Anytime...

Crisis at IshtarChapter 13 Spectators at a Bull Fight

Just then the AI started to sound an alert. "We have ship entry jump points forming." "One or two," James shouted as he stood up, carefully lifting me up and setting me down as he did. "Three," the AI stated. "One is along the vector leading to Borneo. The other two ships jumped from within Sa'arm controlled space." My master barely paused. "Tyson, Linus, to the gun controls. I'll take laser one, gunners, get to the laser chambers and suit up. Tam, Tif, get to the command center...

James shook his head and looked up. "Terrence, start bringing all the injured from Freya over. Coordinate with their staff and bring the hurt ones over when gurneys are available. Let's get them medical attention quickly." "We're already on it," Donna said. "David, Elle and Robert are standing by with gurneys. Lindsay and Ed have headed to our multi-use room and are going to set up to treat the non-critical cases there. Craig and Tom are setting things up there." "Maggie has the...

Crisis at IshtarChapter 15 Lessons from a Model Citizen

"Bit of a walk isn't it?" Tanya said with a smile. "It's outside the citizen zone," I admitted. "But you had wounded so we teleported you in at our command post. I'm not sure we have a teleport near here yet. This is new." "Will all my crew be here?" Tanya asked. "Probably not," I said. "The walking wounded you had were directed to one of the rooms we have near our medical center. If there are free pods they'll rotate the people through." Tanya nodded. "On that note, how...

Crisis at IshtarChapter 16 Gifts Exchanged

Bethany had my daughter on a changing table when I walked in. She smiled at me. "Don't worry, I don't mind changing babies. Especially when it's the child of my sister." She lifted Madoka up and carried her over to me. With a gentle touch she laid Madoka in my arms. I looked down at the child I had brought into the world. She was now just over two months old and still spent the majority of her time sleeping, but right then she was awake and reached out her tiny hands to grab at my...

Crisis at IshtarChapter 17 Negative Official Notice

The departure of Freya brought peace to Ishtar. Janice continued to lead rehearsals of the musical. We now had a complete show that lasted just over seventy minutes. It was almost ready, and we were becoming increasingly worried that the secret would be revealed. Janice insisted that conversations about our work be kept to the Concubine's Refuge to prevent accidentally revealing our plans. The citizens seemed rather distracted though. James and Yvette seemed to spend hours in the command...

Crisis at IshtarChapter 18 Preparations for Trouble

My master appeared to shake himself awake. "Damn, we don't need more trouble here. Michelle try to contact Borneo, we need to see if Admiral Himmel knows anything about this Chief Scientist." "Is that even a rank?" Tiffany asked. "Who knows," Yvette responded while massaging her temples. "But from the attitude on that man, he believes it means quite a bit." Janice looked around. "Are these alien artifacts really that important." I heard a snort. I turned to see where it came...

Crisis at IshtarChapter 19 A Moment of Relaxation

For the next three days, the colony was bustling with activity. Under the direction of Marina, who proved to have been a hotel maid back on Earth before becoming Shawna's concubine, thirty pods were organized, cleaned and prepared for occupation. Most were set up so they had multiple dwellings each set up like a hotel suite with a central meeting and relaxation room and two separate sleeping areas. Others were organized more like barracks with enough beds to handle one of the squads the vice...

Crisis at IshtarChapter 20 Opening Night Jitters

Nightmares caused Janice to toss and turn most of the night. I held her close and tried to kiss the dreams away, but her mumbled words made it clear she was worried about the musical. During the first part of the night she woke me four times, before finally settling down sometime during Devil hour. After the dreams faded she was sleeping so peacefully that when Joy woke up hungry early in the morning I fed her myself rather than wake my friend. I ended up having to go downstairs to wake...

Crisis at IshtarChapter 21 Impressing the Citizens

Madoka was hungry. Once I offered her a meal, she drank it down. Afterwards she fidgeted for only a moment before closing her eyes again. I was not completely surprised, as she had been awake for the last hour as I memorized the seating chart. Once she was slumbering in one of the cribs set up in the backstage nursery, I hurried back to the theater, prepared to lead the citizens to their seats. Janice met me at the curtain. She seemed a bit distracted, but held up a hand for me to pause. I...

Crisis at IshtarChapter 22 Damaged Visitors

James was bringing Tina's lips to his when a voice I did not recognize started shouting. "Oh God! Oh God! James! James! We have a visitor! We have a visitor!" James paused and looked over at Bethany. She mouthed a name and he nodded. "Give me a report," he called out. "We have a jump point opening," the voice cried nervously. "The instruments say it's on a direct line with the Ursus system. One of the notes said that the last ship to arrive from that system was Nassau." James set...

Crisis at IshtarChapter 23 Recovery

I slowly climbed back to consciousness. Fog seemed to cloud my head, clearing briefly as a loud hiss broke through my muddled thoughts. I tried to sit up, but a firm hand on my left shoulder kept me lying flat. "Don't move yet," Shawna's voice instructed me. "Open your eyes and look at me." Bright almost blinding light caused me to gasp, but I held them open and turned my head towards the voice. Shawna stood next to me. My position put me about her waist level. Glancing down I could...

Crisis at IshtarChapter 24 A Night Back

James looked over at Janice and me. "Are you sure you can perform?" he asked. Janice giggled. "Why wouldn't we be able to perform? It should be easier the second time. We won't have as many first performance jitters." "And we won't worry about disappointing you," I whispered. "I missed so many notes while I was playing." Janice looked at me. "I thought the orchestra was struggling a bit. What was going on?" I shrugged. "Rather than using the sheet music, the AI was...

Crisis at IshtarChapter 25 A Chance to Practice

The next morning I woke slowly. Arms were draped over my body, pressing me into the mattress. Raising my head, I found that Kitty was snuggled in tight to my right side while Bethany was on my left side. My motion caused Kitty to shift in her sleep and I was able to crawl out of the intertwined limbs. The door to the bedroom was open and I could hear a baby stirring in our living room. Taking soft steps to avoid waking my family, I eased my way to the door. In the living room, I found all...

Crisis at IshtarChapter 26 Another Show

After we finished feeding our children, Mickey, Cleo and I took them back to the cribs before we each grabbed some lunch. During our meal we talked a bit about the music we were playing. "I knew music like this existed, but this is more fun than I ever imagined," Mickey said. "And last night was ... wow! I could feel the way the audience reacted." Cleo nodded. "It is powerful. We need to be feeding that by playing our best." I blew out a raspberry. "More practice." The others...

Crisis at IshtarChapter 27 More Quiet Moments

Mickey, Cleo and I were the last three to leave the theater. We exited the airlock to find our sister concubines waiting. I found myself showered with hugs and kisses. "That was so much fun!" Tina squealed. "We have to do that again." "It was definitely fun," Bethany said calmly. "And there is no question that James and the others liked watching it." "Totally" Kitty said. "You realize that every citizen snuck in to watch it a second time." "Every one?" I asked. "Who was in...

Crisis at IshtarChapter 29 Meeting Visitors

I left the teleport room and headed back to the command post. When I reached the doors we once used to keep Ruth and Manuel away from our homes, they were shut tight. Each set remained closed until I was no more than ten yards away and then opened, allowing me into the colony. Once I passed the third door, I ran to the command post. The tapestry had moved to conceal the door, and I had to lift it away from the wall in order to enter. Inside I found that Candi and Randi had relieved my...

Crisis at IshtarChapter 30 Emergency Measures

"You need to get that fire out!" I heard Timothy shout. "It's too close to your missile magazine." "The magazine is empty!" a female voice called back. "We shot everything during our breakout from Ursus!" "I'm not worried about an explosion," Timothy called back. "The smoke from that fire will be poisonous if it reaches the loading tubes. Those tubes contain heavy metals that you really don't want to breathe." "Everyone here is in suits!" the voice cried back. "We...

Crisis at IshtarChapter 31 Musical Ships

I returned to our home hallways in time to catch James coming out of the command post. With Diana and Ingrid's help I cornered him in the hallway and ordered him to throw me over his shoulder and take me back to our home to ravish me. He did after telling the AI to order Bethany home. James did not really ravish me though. He jumped into the shower while Bethany and I fed our daughters and then pulled us into the hot tub for an hour of playful fun. Bethany held onto him at the end of that...

Crisis at IshtarChapter 32 Untimely Arrivals

The next four weeks passed peacefully. We saw visits from several ships, but none were heavily damaged. The longest stay was the corvette Aspen, which arrived with a missile jammed in its starboard tube. Terrence and Louis spent four hours with the AI carefully manipulating the missile until they could pull it free from the launcher. My tapestry was completed, and now hanging near the first door separating the enclave from the visitors part of the colony. Janice had claimed the loom and was...

Crisis at IshtarChapter 34 Thunderous Silence

Kitty staggered one time when a powerful contraction wracked her body, but otherwise we were able to reach the medical bay without problems. The door slid opened as we approached and Shawna dashed out. "It's nice to have some good news," she cried as she gave Kitty a quick hug before taking my friend's right arm and offering support. "How bad are the contractions?" "I've only had one," Kitty moaned. "At least only one I felt. Ooooh." "Two," Brittany chirped with a...

Crisis at IshtarChapter 36 A Meeting with a Brain

It seemed to take forever to make our way to the passage that used to separate our home from the maniacs who had been dropped on Ishtar with us. When we arrived, the informal guard kiosk stood empty in front of a closed pressure door. We paused to wait for the doors to open when a young female cried out. "Wait!" We turned to find Lily, the ten year old daughter of Linus, pushing a double stroller. I tried to figure out what the issue was as she came to a stop in front of us. "Esther...

Crisis at IshtarChapter 37 Friendly and Unfriendly Visitors

My master seemed exhausted as we left the command post and began to make our way through the passages. The halls were largely empty and I was going to ask why when the AI called out, "Devil hour has just begun." "More than half a day spent dealing with this," James said quietly. "I shouldn't be too surprised." "I just hope we can get some rest," I said. "That scientist seems..." I paused, trying to think of a good adjective to describe the man we had watched walk out. James said...
