I was tossing and turning all night worrying first about one of my best friends since the seventh grade and what she and my ‘little brother’ had got themselves into—Cathy possibly being gang banged tonight by Ryder, Andy and her future fiancé! I giggled, ‘I’m going to mass this morning—you want to tag along?’

Nancy smiled in my direction, ‘Well Roomie, get ready for the ride of your life!’
I laughed as I blow dried my hair and slipped into a nice yellow, sleeveless, V-neck, knee length summer dress that Angie had helped me pick out. I brushed my hair, put on my make-up, slipped on my sandals, and left our room. Nancy was already back sawing logs before I shut and locked the door!
I stopped in the dining hall and picked up a breakfast tray and while I was eating Beverly approached me, ‘Hi Sue, where are you off to so early this Sunday morning?’
I replied, ‘I’m going to mass for the first time here at State.’
Beverly smiled as she sat down beside me with her breakfast tray, ‘Me too! I went for the first time last week. Father Mayckins, my priest at St. Gregory’s recommended the Mother of God Catholic church on State’s campus. I smiled, ‘I think I will!
‘So, Beverly how was the Horseshoe last night? I heard it was kind of dead. Did you hook up with Misti’s brother, Bobby?’
Beverly just grinned, ‘It was deader than a doornail! Only a handful of the football players showed up, none of the studs. I saw Donna and Billy along with Buster and Wendy. Blake and Emily were there, too. I never did see Cathy and Jimmy.

I grinned, ‘Okay, you’ve got my curiosity up—who did you latch on to?’
Beverly smiled, ‘Johnny Davis, the sophomore place kicker, kickoff specialist, and punter for State! We quickly left the dining hall and I got in my trusty VW bug, following Beverly’s Firebird GTA two-door coupe to State’s Mother of God Catholic church. Mass was great and after mass Beverly introduced me to Father Benediction.
‘Father, this is Sue Andrews, she’s a basketball player.’
