It was a late Thursday night as Jessica walked down the poorly lit street towards the bus stop that would take her from the down town area to her college apartment.

Over her shoulder the woman had a green canvas bag with several patches Jessica didn't recognize including big patches with the numbers 420 and 710 safety pinned on the flap of the satchel.
As Jessica got closer the two women stopped talking and watched her approach the bus stop and sit down. Jessica felt a bit self conscious in her blue and white dress, her long white socks and mary jane shoes, that would have looked like laura ingles sunday best from little house on the prairie.
Jessica sat on the bench but while her back was to the two women by the alley, she could still feel their eyes on her.
As she sat there with 40 minutes to go, there was no traffic on the street. She then heard someone approaching the bus stop, from her right side she could hear the clack-clack-clack of stiletto heels. From her left side she could hear lazy clomps as the skater woman approached from the other side.
The skater woman rounded the corner first, and asked "hey, mind if we join you?"
While these women were probably prostitutes, they didn't seem threatening, and if anything reminded her of new arrivals at the mission. "Oh sure, no problem." Jessica slid all the way to the right edge of the bench so that the women could sit together if they wanted.
The skater woman sat directly next to Jessica but the blonde barbie remained standing.
The Barbie turned to her, and in a bubbly voice said "Hi, i'm Holli with an "I" what's your name?
"Oh, I'm Jessica, nice to meet you Holli."
As the skater girl fiddled with something in her bag, Holli continued, "and that's Alexis, but she goes by Alex."
Jessica turned to Alex who responded with "yo."
"So, I haven't seen you around, are you new to the area?" Asked Holli.
"Well, I go to Prudoe Bible College, but i was in the area donating time at the mission."
Holli made a squeee sound. "Oh, that's so nice. You're a good person to help others for free. I'd help people for free but I'm not allowed."
"What?" Jessica was thankful for the compliment, but confused by the rest of what Holli said.
Before she could respond, Alex chimed in; "So, do you, like, just help with the food and stuff, or do you preach to people about being good and stuff?"
"Well, I mostly help with the kitchen, but the missionary work is important too. It's important to talk people out of bad habits like bad relationships and habits like smoking."
As she was speaking to Alex, she heard the flick of a lighter, and could smell cigarette smoke come from Holli. She turned back to holli with a grimace as she hated second hand smoke.
"Oh no, I'm so sorry" Holli said with huge puppy eyes. Jessica wanted to complain, but before she could, alex spoke up.
"Damnit Holli, you know I hate cigarette smoke." Alex lied as she was rooting in her satchel and removed something that looked like a metal flute or tiny clarinet. Jessica could see a number of small glass containers with labels like 710, shatter, 420, blast, giggle, buddha. Others had pictures; a smile emoji, a rocket, a red cross, and the one Alex removed, a small bottle with a picture of cotton candy.
"Oh, Alex! I'm so sorry i forgot about your asthma! Do you have your inhaler?"
As Alex was screwing the jar labeled with cotton candy into the end of her vape device, Alex responded, "of course I did." Alex turned to jessica, wondering if this girl was so innocent that she would buy this story. "I'm extremely sensitive to cigarette smoke, so my doctor recommended that I use a new kind of inhaler they sell on line." She took a deep toke of the cotton candy scented hash oil she had just loaded up, and then exhaled an opaque cloud of white vapor.
Jessica didn't know what to think when Alex breathed out a smoke screen like a dragon. Jessica had never seen anything like it, but whatever it was it smelled delicious and nothing like the rancid stench of cigarettes.
Unfortunately it was only a few seconds before the good scent blew away and the lingering scent of cigarette smoke had returned. Jessica was trying not to gag.
Alex turned to her. "Want to try my inhaler?"
Oh, i couldn't. You're not supposed to use other people's prescriptions."
Alex grinned at the girl's naivety. "Oh no, this isn't a prescription. It's an herbal supplement you can buy online." As she tried to hand Jessica the vape pen.
"Well..." Jessica was torn. On the one hand something seemed wrong, but on the other hand just the second hand herbal supplement had been a relief from the rancid cigarette smoke.
"It's perfectly fine, and was recommended by a doctor."
"I...ok." Jessica reached out to accept the 'inhaler'
"Ok, just hold it here and place your finger on the button. When you're ready, just suck on it like a straw. Press the button like a second before you start to suck. Then when youve had enough let go of the button. "
If Jessica was thinking clearly she probably wouldn't do this but the late night combined with the THC she had already inhaled had lowered her inhibitions, and Alex could have been an excellent con woman.
Jessica hit the button and sucked on the vape. The cotton candy tasted wonderful, and felt so mild that she didn't even cough. The next thing she knew her lungs were full and she stopped drawing. After a second or two to let it settle she exhaled a vape cloud that could have gotten a classroom high.
"See, thats so much better, right?"
Jessica could only nod her head. Not only did the 'herbal supplement' smell and taste wonderful, she felt so great. It was like any problems she had just disappeared and she was just enjoying the night.
Alex lifted Jessica's hands up to her face still holding the vape pen. "You should probably try another dose since this was your first time. You don't want it to wear off right?"
Jessica thought that made sense, "uh huh." And she took a second lung filling draw from the vape pen.
This time she held it in almost too long before she exhaled a cloud that filled the bus shelter with a white fog.
Holli leaned in as Alex began texting someone. "Jessica, now you're a good girl that wants to help us right?"
"Yes, want to help."
Holli continued, "well. You probably noticed that i'm dressed like a naughty girl in sexy clothes right?"
"Yes, very naughty clothes."
"In that case can you help me and Alex pick out some clothes at our house that aren't naughty? You do want to help, right"
"Yes, Want to help."
At that moment, black limo rolled up and the rear door opened. A cloud of smoke rolled out, a hand with red fingernails and an asian complexion beckoned.
Holi helped Jessica stand up and approach the car.
Alex whispered into her ear as she again lifted the vape up to Jessica's mouth, "better take one more dose before we get in the car."
Jessica took another draw, but before she could exhale she was led into the car by Holli, and followed in by Alex. As the door closed a cloud of vape smoke began to roll out and a giggling Jessica could be heard as the door closed and the limo drove away.
5 minutes later, the last bus of the night passed by the bus stop but didn't even slow down as no one was even in sight.
