The coaxing of unfamiliar voices rouse you from unconsciousness, and as you squint into the bright light around you, you can make out two floating orbs above you, one light blue and one pale pink.
"Ah! There we are! Awake at last!" As the you hear the pleasant voice, the pink orb seems to pulse. "We were hoping that you were still alive. Would've been a ton of paperwork for us if you died already..."
"Um.. Wha.." You move to rub your eyes but find that your arms won't move at your command. Oddly, this doesn't seem to bother you right now. "Where am I?" Looking around, you see nothing but yourself, the pair of orbs and white nothingness surrounding you.
"It's.. a little pocket dimension that we whipped up for you," the pink orb pulses. "You see, there was a little... What did we decide on? Accident? Mishap? Apocalypse?"
"An incident," says a gruff voice as the blue orb pulses in response.
"Yes. A little incident," the pink orb continues. "Anyways, the 'incident' may have resulted in your dimension no longer... um, existing--"
"Not that we're admitting any blame for it," the blue orb pulses. "Just want to get that straight."
"Yes. Correct. Not admitting blame," the pink orb pulses quickly. "Never-the-less, your dimension is no longer with us, and inter-dimensional exploration and experimentation statute 57084.873b states that we are required to inform at least one inhabitant of said dimension of its... ceasing to be."
"...bunch of bullshit..." a voice mutters as the blue orb pulses.
The pulsing pink orb makes a throat clearing sound and adds, "Erm.. well, it also states that after informing you, we must relocate you to the closest adjacent dimension to continue your existence."
"So... Everything I know is gone?" The complete destruction of everything you've ever known doesn't seem to concern you as much as you thought it would, but at the moment, your mind feels a bit too foggy to wrap your mind around the concept.
"Not necessarily," the pink orb pulses. "What with there being an infinite number of realities to choose from, we might very well find one that is indistinguishable from your last dimension, except for some teeny tiny difference, of course. You might have a different eye color, for instance, or a new favorite... oh what's it called... 'food'."
"Or a different gender," the blue orb pulses in a bored tone.
"I'm sure you won't even notice that it's not your original dimension," the pink orb pulses apologetically. "A-and, the technology should load any new information that you'd need straight into your mind, like if your street name had changed."
"Should," the blue orb pulses sarcastically and you can practically hear the air quotes coming from its limbless from.
Glancing back and forth between the two orbs, you ask the only question that really seems to be puzzling you. "Are you two made of light?"
The pink orb laughed nervously. "Ha ha.. No. We took on theses appearances because our real forms would send you into instantaneous screaming insanity. It wouldn't be pleasant..."
"Only took us two-hundred-and-thirty-seven other tries before we figured that one out," the blue orb mutters.
An uncomfortable silence hangs in the air between you and the orbs for a moment and then pink orb pulses again. "That should about cover everything, sooooooo... Good luck!"
Before you can ask anymore questions, the light surrounding you goes dark and you slip back into unconsciousness.
