Barbara takes a deep breath, and faces the night sky. Remember that call

Barbara say's. OK and? Well we got to be friend's. I've, we've been
talking... about our lives. I found we have a lot in common. We have the
same feeling's about life, and what we want. I feel I'm missing
something here. I feel like I belong with them, not here. What do you
mean? All my life I did what was expected of me. Not what I wanted. to

Barb did you consider what that life is? Life? Yes life; as in style. They
told me about the hazard's. And? And I didn't really consider them as
dangerous. Especially what we put up with. How would you go about
it? Dori and Francy have been tutoring me. And? I love it. Did you go

smiling. It's just that, well what do you think? What would you do if
you where me? I can't answer that. I'm not you. All I know is that if I

advertising you know. Barbara finally smiles, and start's to eat. There is

want you'll never know unless you do it. Barbara look's at Mark. What
do you man? Go up and... Not here Mark say's. Have Dori and Francy
take you out of town. The next State. We're close to the border, to a strip
club there. Hang for a few day's until you see what they are. When
amateur night comes around. Go for it. If it's what you want you'll
know. Thank you Mark, And Barbara start's to cry again. Mark look's at
her; Now what? She look's at him; for being my partner.
The next shift found the two on foot patrol. Barbara tell's Mark: I asked
Dori and Francy about what you said. They agreed. We're going to a
place they use to work at. They have some friend's there, and their
amateur night isn't until the end of the month so I could see what it's like
at least. Good say's Mark. And then What? We'll see. We'll just see.
so for the rest of the month Barbara would be found at this out of state
place. Spending her weekend's getting to know the locale's, the owner's
and everything else that was necessary. When the night arrived, Barbara
took the week off just to prepare, and recover from this event. The next
shift back, Barbara and Mark where assigned to dispatch, and the event's
where told to him
I couldn't believe it I was up there, I was actually doing it. How far did
you go? ALL the way. I found that I do have the heart. Now what are
you going to do? I've already talked to George. He's the owner of the
club where Dori, and Francy work. he is going to introduce me to a
friend of his who own's a club out of State. Your going for it. Yes. I
love it. My resignation was submitted when I got to work today. In two
week's it's all over. You didn't tell them why your leaving the

subdued and tell's Mark: Somehow, someway I am going to find a way

I mean it some how within the year you and I will be together. yeah, a

then we got a job to do now. The two continue their duties. On the last
day of Barbara's tour, a party held. Dori and Francy where there as the

Several month's later Mark receives a package through the mail. In it he
find's a strip magazine. On the cover was Barbara, and inside a note:

I will be seeing you soon Girl friend to be. Mark look's through the book
and smiles. Thinking what would it be like. Smilingly he feel's his

Two week's after receiving the magazine Mark find's a message on his
answering machine. On it, Barbara's voice: Well how's it going girl
friend to be. I'm going to be in the area on the sixth. I have to see you.
Meet me at the same restaurant we always's had breakfast in. We'll go
over old time's. Until then, stay safe. At the appointed time Mark walk's
into the restaurant and see's Barbara already there with another woman.

So Mark how have you been. Good. It's been quiet. Mark, Barbara
say's, this is Helen. She's a friend of mine. Hello Helen say's. I have
heard so much about you that I feel like I have known you all my life. it's
good to meet you too, Mark say's smiling. Dori and Francy walk form
the rest room to the table and sit down. Barbara inform's Mark that they
are all doing a routine. So that's why I haven't seen you two around.
Yeah say's Francy. And how have you been girl friend to be. Mark
look's at her. We know, Dori say's smiling. All of us here know's, so
don't worry. And like Barbara we want you to join us. Looking at
Barbara Mark say's bemused: So I see you found some magical way of
transformation. Yes, Barbara say's. Auhhh Yeah Mark say's. the
waitress bring's the group's order's. As they begin to eat, Helen jokingly
tell's Mark: I am sort of a sorceress you see. A sorceress he say's? Yes,
I can even tell your future if you want. Let me see your palm. Mark gives
her his palm. No not that one Helen say's laughingly. Your left hand.
Smilingly he complies. She look's at it, caressing it; I see a change in you
life line. A change away from this world and into another. And how is
that to be accomplished Mark ask's. it's a secret Helen say's smilingly.
At that que Francy reaches up and pull's some hair form the back of his
head. Ouch he say's and then Helen pull's a pin from her cuff and
punctures his index finger. What the he exclaim's. Helen takes the blood
and put's it onto a cotton ball, and Francy gives her the hair. Helen tell's
Mark: Soon you will be on stage with your friend's. Then they all start to
talk changing the subject, and eat breakfast.
A year to the date that Barbara left the department Mark receives a
telephone call from Barbara. It's good to hear from you again he say's.
It's good to talk with you again she say's. But I have to tell you
something. On Sunday go out to sea and meet me at these co-ordinates at
noon. She gives him the location and he write's them down. She tell's
him that she'll explain when they meet. I don't know Mark say's my
shift... don't worry, I know you'll be off then. When he got to work he
found himself off duty that day. The shift officer tell's him that a change
in the schedule was necessary to compensate for excess overtime. Oh
well he tell's him. I will just have to struggle out and enjoy the sea that
day. Oh do try to keep your disappointment to yourself Mark. and they
both laugh.
That Sunday Mark found himself at the location and no one around. Oh
well he sigh's. At least I'll get some fishing in. Ten minutes alter a boat
comes up, and on it is Barbara, Dori and Francy. They pull along side,
and tie up. Well girl friend to be how are you? Happy he say's. The
three girls' board his, with Barbara carrying a bag. And what is that he
ask's the party favor's. Well not exactly, it's your clothes. My clothes
Mark say's. Yes, your clothes. See Barbara say's bringing out a pair of

and Dori places a leather string with a bag around his neck. What he say's
as he look's at it hanging. Then he doubles over gabbing his crotch, and

He fall's to the floor of the boat writhing pains so intense that he cannot
scream. He feel's a burning to his crotch, and a wetness as his male
organs detach from his body, blood and seaman flowing out as his

ID card. As Gretchen get's out of the now oversized clothe's Barbara

Gretchen sit's up; but how do you explain me missing. Don't worry

Gretchen look's out at the horizon and see's a storm approaching. Mark's

The Coast Guard found the remains of the boat two day's after the storm.
Mark was listed as dead. lost at sea. All benefit's went to his next of kin.
