A Transgender Fairytale by Tanya Sissipus "Oh!" I steered my bike back onto the path, then turned and waved to the old woman. Usually, I just ignored people like that, but it was far too nice a day for complaints. Rude as it seemed for the elderly group to be walking three abreast down such a narrow path, this afternoon I'd give them the benefit of the doubt. Unlike the hot, humid July that Mother Nature had seen fit to curse us with, August was turning out to be surprisingly pleasant. Daily highs were hovering around the 80-degree mark. There was just enough cloud cover to provide a little bit of shade. And there'd been a light, constant breeze for almost a week now. Of course, it wasn't likely to last, but I intended to make the best of it while I could. "Hi there." "Hello." I smiled at the passing jogger, then started pedalling harder as I approached the familiar slope ahead. While the trail was laid out in such a way as to allow for a casual pace, I always liked to challenge myself a bit. Sure, the scenery by the river was great -- and I loved the lack of traffic -- but I was looking for a little exercise. A short while later I veered off the path again, only this time it was to weave my way through the parking lot beside it. This was easily the busiest place along the Parkway during the summer, so common sense dictated I leave the trail to the wandering pedestrians. Besides, the bike- racks were on the far side of the parking lot, so I'd have had to leave the trail in a few minutes anyway. As soon as I finished locking up my bike, I headed back down the slope and through what had to be the best picnic-area south of Toronto. It was well away from the road, clean, spacious, and (of course) had an amazing view. The far right side of it looked down upon the Whirlpool itself, while the rest of it offered an unbroken glimpse of the rapids far below. For some, the view was a little daunting, but there were plenty of forest trails to explore without ever coming near the water. "Mmmm." I caught the smell of barbecue hotdogs wafting my way and smiled again. It was so tempting to just walk over and jokingly ask for a bite, but the last time I'd tried that I'd ended up with an invitation to lunch. And trust me, there's no tactful way to refuse an Arab family's hospitality without seeming rude! Then again, the father HAD been a wonderful cook . . . I grinned at myself and kept on walking. The winding metal stairs that climbed down the first part of the Escarpment were - thankfully - empty. I usually liked to jog down them at decent pace, but far too often found myself behind a pack of dawdling tourists. Whether they were nervous of the height or just gawking at the view, it only took a couple people to hold everyone else back. Once I hit the bottom, I was in my element. There were literally dozens of marked trails that snaked their way along the river, but - as always - I preferred to make my own. So, picking a gap in the trees at random, I squeezed through and started the lengthy journey down to the water's edge. If you really pushed yourself to carve a direct path down, the river was roughly a fifteen-minute hike away. However, if you just took your time wandering along - like I usually did - it was easily a half-hour trek or more. Of course, that's assuming you wanted to go down at all. A straight hike to either the left or right could keep you busy for days. "Ah, this is the life." Deep in the trees, away from the tourists, was like another world. It was almost like wandering through a storybook, which was part of the reason I enjoyed it so much. With no distractions and a world of inspiration around me, I was free to dream like nowhere else. It was a rare day indeed that I didn't come home with a few pages of fresh ideas scrawled in my little notebook. Before long the atmosphere was that of twilight - dark, still, and filled with the sounds of crickets. The only illumination came from thin shafts of sunlight that pierced through the centuries-old canopy of green high above. Strangely, though, the staccato passage between light and shadow sharpened everything around me, giving the world an almost surreal appearance. "Hi." Startled out of my daydreaming, I stopped and looked behind me. It had sounded like a young boy calling me, but I was alone. There hadn't been anybody else on the makeshift trail - I was sure of it. The trees were so thick to my right, there was no way anybody could have seen me through them. And with a three-ton glacial boulder to my left . . . well, that was out too. "Hi." There it was again, but there was nobody around. This was just a little eerie. Bewildered, I decided to sit down and take a swallow from the bottle of Coke strapped over my shoulder. Who knows, maybe I was just dehydrated. "Hey! Be careful, please." I swallowed awkwardly, then looked down and laughed. What else could I do? Apparently, I was sharing my rocky seat with a . . . well, a little fairy of some sort. He was about 4 inches tall, with wild black hair, and was dressed in a tiny grey robe that I swore had been cut from a squirrel. "Why, hello there, little fella." I held out my finger towards him, then watched in surprise as he grabbed onto the end and hoisted himself onto my hand. The little guy was almost weightless, but I could feel him - which meant he really WAS there. "Hi." His voice was soft and clear, but not shrill or piercing - like I would have expected from someone so tiny. "My name's Daffyd," he told me. "What's yours?" I grinned. "Pleased to meet you, Daffyd. My name's Robert." He cocked his head to the side and stared, reminding me of an old man for some reason. "Robert?" he asked me. "No, that's not right . . ." I couldn't help it - I had to laugh. "Really? And how would a fairy be knowing my name?" This time it was Daffyd's turn to laugh. "I'm not a fairy, silly. Only mommies can be fairies." He stood up and poked a finger into his chest. "I'm a pixie." Slowly, carefully, I raised him up for a better look. For the most part, he looked like a miniature human boy, but there were some striking differences. His skin was almost golden, and it seemed to glisten in the artificial twilight. His bright blue eyes were definitely oversized, and he had very high, very sharp cheekbones. "My apologies, Daffyd. I didn't know." Just then, a shrill scream cut through the woods. Rather than ringing in my ears, though, it penetrated right through my skull and echoed around inside. I flinched at the sound, but somehow managed to keep from dropping my little friend. "I don't know how you found him, but get away from my child!" Still fighting the effects of her screech, I looked up to see a second fairy streaking towards me. She was a full six inches tall, with fiery orange hair, the same golden flesh, and diaphanous wings of blue. She was also incredibly beautiful, but her snarl of rage didn't give me time to appreciate that. "No! Don't hurt him, Momma! Please - he's my friend!" The fairy snapped to a halt and hovered before my face, her wings flittering so fast they were a blur. "But he's a man, darling. I told you to stay away from their kind." Daffyd scurried up my arm and giggled. "He's not a man, Momma." He perched himself on my shoulder, grabbing a strand of hair to steady himself. "He's my friend." She stared at me for a long moment, then frowned. "You know, he's right. You don't smell like a man." She floated closer, then frowned again. "Very odd." I believed her. Maybe it was magic, maybe it was a sixth-sense, or maybe it was just sheer coincidence. Then again, maybe the desire to share my secrets was so strong, any excuse would do. Regardless, I honestly FELT like she could see the truth . . . so I explained. "I don't know how, but you're right." I shifted backward and invited Daffyd's mother to join us. "Please, let me explain. For starters, my name is Robert." My little friend giggled. "It's not." "I am Debranella. Go on." "Thank you." I had expected to feel awkward or afraid, but it wasn't like that. For some reason, I sensed she was someone I could open up to. "Well, I guess you could call me a transsexual, but I've never felt that was enough. You see, I was born male, and everyone treats me like a guy, but that's not who I am. Inside, where the real me is, I'm a woman." Debranella looked confused, but intrigued. "It's hard to explain what it's like. It's not really something you know. It's more something you feel. Ever since I was a child, things just felt wrong. I never fit in with boys my age. I knew who I was SUPPOSED to be, what everyone else EXPECTED, but it . . . well, it wasn't me." "If you could explain it with one sentence," the fairy asked, "what would it be?" I thought about it for a moment, then nodded softly to myself. "I've a woman's soul, and a woman's mind, trapped inside a man's body." She nodded thoughtfully. "Daffyd? Could you please hop down for a few moments?" The young pixie must have sensed something in her voice, because he was down in a flash. I didn't even see him go. He was simply there one moment, and gone the next. "May I try something?" Debranella asked. "It's rather personal, but I have a feeling it might help you to understand." I felt a twinge of nervousness, but shrugged it away. "Please, go right ahead." She shot backward in surprise. "You trust me so easily?" "You trusted me not to hard Daffyd," I replied. "It would be rude not to give you the same respect in return." Slowly, she floated back before my face. Her fairy-flesh dazzled me as it caught a thin ray of sunshine. "He's right," she told me. "You are most definitely not a man." I wasn't sure how to respond, but once she began to smile, I grinned right back. She'd finally accepted me as a friend, and I was more than happy to do the same. With that accomplished, she floated closer and closer until she could gently straddle my nose. Her touch tickled me in a pleasant way, and the breeze from her wings was lovingly gentle. When she started to hum, it was the sweetest sound I'd ever heard. "Oh my." She sounded shocked, and that bothered me more than I cared to admit. "What?" I asked. "What is it?" "You . . . you have a fairy soul." Debranella shook her head, then kissed the tip of my nose. "Please, may I look deeper?" I nodded, and she began to hum again. It was a long while before she stopped. "I think I need to sit down. You have quite a story inside you." "Please," I offered, "let me." First checking to make sure Daffyd wasn't behind me, I scooted back until I could bend my knees and plant my feet on the rock. Then, patting them softly, I said, "You'll be safe here, I promise." "Thank you." The instant she sat down, my pixie friend emerged from hiding to plant himself on the other knee. "See?" he grinned. "I told you he wasn't a man. I told you he was my friend." "Daffyd. Hush. Your friend and I have to talk." She turned her face up to me and . . . and paused. Three times she started to open her mouth, and three times she just looked away. When she was ready, she began. "What I'm about to tell you started with a fairy named Gwendolyn." Daffyd's eyes lit up. "Oooh! Pretty name." "Daffyd. Please." "Yes, Momma." The fairy continued. "Gwendolyn was pregnant with her first child, but she was also dying. Fairies are at their most vulnerable when carrying a child, and some mortal taint had crept into her flesh. So, frightened and confused, she left us to seek her end . . . elsewhere." I could see that the idea of death really bothered Debranella, but I didn't want to interrupt. The suggestion that the stories might be true, that fairies really were immortal was fascinating. Still, it clearly wasn't the time for such questions. "Somewhere along the line, Gwendolyn accepted the mortal taint inside her. What she couldn't accept, however, was the idea of losing her child. Fairies do not give birth very often, and her child was to be the first in nearly a century for her family. It was a . . . a very difficult time for her." Almost too quiet for me to hear, Daffyd sighed. "Sad lady." "Yes." I agreed with him. "Very sad." Daffyd's mother continued as if we hadn't said a word. "By the end, she was in rough shape. Her magic was all but gone. She'd lost her wings. She'd lost her shimmer." Tears in her eyes, Debranella said, "Animals -- cats for Titania's sake -- could see her!" My pixie friend and I both shuddered at the thought of what a cat could do to someone so tiny. "That was when she found your mother. Your mother was nearly eight months pregnant with you, and the birthing magic was very strong. So strong that Gwendolyn sensed it even in her weakened state. It was like a beacon to her, a chance to save the child she'd already feared lost." Her voice dropped to a whisper, but I had no problem hearing her words. "With her dying breath, she placed the magic of her child inside your mother's womb." "What happened next, Momma?" I silently thanked Daffyd for asking the question, as I was too entranced to speak myself. "The magic was supposed to remain dormant inside you - and your sons, if necessary -- only to be released with the birth of your first female descendant. Gwendolyn knew the magic might remain trapped forever, but it was the only choice she had. Faced with the death of herself AND her child, it was . . . the best she could do." We remained silent for a very long time, mourning the sacrifice of a fairy who had clearly touched us all deeply. Even Daffyd, my cheerful little friend, seemed withdrawn and sad. Finally, though, I had to ask. "Debranella? You said the magic was 'supposed' to remain dormant." "Yes." "But it didn't?" "No." "So . . . you're saying I've a boy's mortal flesh, but the soul of a fairy inside me? That I really have two mothers -- one mortal and one fairy? That I'm really NOT what everyone expects me to be?" Despite the tragedy of Gwendolyn's story, I had to smile. "That's actually quite a relief for me." Gently, almost timidly, she returned my smile. "You're not angry?" "Not at all. I think it's wonderful - not that she's dead, but that I'm helping to carry on her legacy. It's . . . it's a wonderful responsibility." With that, Daffyd hopped back onto my shoulder and giggled. "Momma?" "Yes, darling?" "You can help him, can't you?" He giggled again and nestled against my neck. "I know you can, Momma!" Debranella looked up at me and nodded softly. "If you want me to, then I CAN help." There was no doubt in mind. After years of depression and confusion, here was a chance to finally be happy. No matter how bizarre and fantastic the story might seem the next morning, at that moment I believed - and I trusted her implicitly. I nodded. "Yes. Please." "There are two ways that we can make things right." She floated up from my knee, her wings weaving transient works of art in the air. "First, I can tame the fairy magic and make it dormant again. You would finally become the boy you were originally destined to be." "And the other way?" "The other way would be to release the magic now, to make it the dominant force in your life." To my amazement, the colour woven by her wings brightened as she came to rest upon my knee again. "You would become instead the fairy-child of Gwendolyn's destiny." "Wow. That's . . . a big decision." I moved to stretch my legs, then paused. "Would you mind if I got up for a moment? Might help me think." "Of course." I waited for Debranella to climb back into the air, then gently regained my feet. Daffyd seemed determined to ride things out on my shoulder, so I paced the clearing slowly, not wanting to risk dropping him. "You've offered me my dreams," I said, "but it's not an easy decision. As much as I feel like a woman, as much as I've always felt the need to be a woman, I can't help but have doubts. I mean, what if I really WAS meant to be a boy? What if I could be happy that way?" Frustrated, I sat back down. "I just don't know." "May I help you decide?" "Of course." She began to hum again, but this time the music made me swoon. Just as I thought I'd come crashing down, though, a shudder ran through my body and everything was okay. Actually, it was more than okay - I felt good, I felt whole for the first time in my life. And, from the way Daffyd was clapping his hands in delight, I obviously wasn't the only one who sensed it. "Whoa." I looked across the clearing and gasped. "You said it, hon." I looked back across the clearing and gasped again. There I was, staring at myself, but NOT at myself. I was one mother's son and another mother's daughter -- both at the same time. Two insubstantial souls floating in the forest, their wispy fingers almost-but- not-quite melting where they touched. The part of me that was born of fairy spoke first. She apologised for the years of depression, taking full responsibility for my pain. Tears in her eyes, she didn't ask me to understand -- only to forgive. Finally, her translucent body growing ever dimmer, she offered to sleep until her time should come. My other self shook his head and refused. He wouldn't blame me for something I had no control over. Neither would he watch my magic be snuffed out, simply because it had proven inconvenient. His mist- shrouded form already dissipating into the air, he asked that I let him fade instead. With matching smiles, we faded back into myself, once again leaving two souls to inhabit one body. There was but a brief moment of disorientation, and then we were back to normal. I was back to normal Whatever normal was. "So?" Debranella asked. "Did your heart-to-heart provide any insights?" I nodded. "It did, my lady. It did at that." "Well?" Daffyd asked. "You can tell me, really. Friends always share secrets. That's a forever thing." I joined him in a laugh. If I hadn't already made up my mind, then his innocent honestly would have done it for me. As it was, I knew I was making the right decision. "You know," I whispered, "I really think I could be happy either way." He screwed up his little pixie nose and frowned. "What kind of answer his that?" "The last one that Robert will ever give," I smiled. Leaving him to guess the rest, I held out my palm and invited his mother to rest a moment. "While I might very well have been happy as a man, that would mean wasting the gift that my mother - mothers - have bestowed upon me. The world has more than its fair share of men, just as it has more than its fair share of mortals. What it can always use is a little more magic." Both Daffyd and Debranella nodded. "I must warn you that not even I know what will happen once the magic is given free reign," she said. "You might end up a mortal woman with tiny wings, a wrinkled old witch, or even a glitter-skinned pygmy." Despite the weight of her warning, though, she smiled. "Whichever it is, you will be free." "Whichever it is, I thank you." "Your mother would be proud." Entranced by the strange reflection staring back at me from the rippling waters, I nodded softly. She - rather, I - stood slightly less than six inches tall, with brilliant green eyes and luxurious curls of violet cascading down past my waist. My skin was a more subtle shade of gold than Daffyd's, and lacked much of Debranella's glitter, but my wings . . . they were a translucent blue, nearly half again as large as those of my fairy benefactress. "Yes, very proud." A slight catch in her voice, Debranella said, "You look . . . just like her." I understood now why she had seen so clearly inside me. Her instincts . . . her insights . . . all the things she knew about my mother - it all made sense now. Reluctantly, I turned away from my reflection and took her delicate hands in mine. To my surprise, she was trembling. "You loved her very much, didn't you?" She nodded. "Yes. Gwendolyn was special to me. It . . . it wasn't easy watching her go." We stood there for a long moment, surrounded by an almost supernatural stillness. The birds had silenced themselves, the wind had gently died away, and even the roaring rapids seemed to be constraining themselves to a whisper. If Nature truly possessed a soul of its own, then it seemed to be mourning along with us. "Debranella?" "Yes, dear?" I took a deep breath and swallowed. "I was sad for a very long time . . . and never really knew how to stop being sad. Nobody every offered me the chance to open up. There was never really anybody there to see inside me like you did. I . . . I don't want to start out like that again." I gripped her hands a little more firmly. "Can . . . can you teach me how to love?" No sooner had the words left my mouth, and Daffyd was hugging me tight. His little arms were wrapped around my waist, and his head was nestled gently beneath my breasts. "You're the most prettiest friend I've ever had," he told me. "You're as pretty as Momma." His mother smiled, the tears in her eyes matching my own. "It looks like you're doing quite well on your own." She hoisted the cheerful little pixie into her arms, then stepped forward to include me in the embrace. "But yes . . . I'd like that very much." For the first time in my life, I returned someone else's love without worrying over what the future might bring. I even risked initiating a kiss, which she returned with an affection that tasted more of passion than I had ever known. Finally, with Daffyd clambering into my arms, we took to the air and flittered our way home. _____ i know, it's probably not at all what you were expecting (grin). Even the sexiest sissy likes to just kick back and feel all warm and fuzzy, which is exactly the kind of mood that inspired this little tale. As always, i hope you enjoyed it, and look forward to hearing from you at ([email protected]). (the end)

Almost a Fairy Tale

Just some notes: -I do some research, but I do it in the spare time of my spare time, so I took many poetical liberties in the description of the past. -I'm no adept of metaphysics, but the interpretation I gave for prophecies as powerful spells look logical to me, perhaps someone had that idea already before. -There is sex, of course, but the main focus is on the concept of personality, what defines "us". This is the main theme of all my stories. Almost a Fairy...

My father died when Joshua was three. My mother and I struggled on. My mother died last year. By then he was the son nobody wanted. He was small for his age, so I kept him back a year. It didn't matter. He stayed small and never developed much body hair. The doctor...

Transgender 101

Transgender 101 ? by: GSElvis Why do I try? Imagine something you love to do, and you try the best that your talents allow. As soon as you are done, though, you see the flaws in what you've created. You realize that there is always someone else who can do what you did, only better. It's tough being mediocre. Take becoming a woman, for example, other guys can change their gender, and turn themselves into a beautiful woman--the kind with big boobs, a great ass and legs, and the...

"Just be glad we cut west. I had originally decided we could go to Alaska. It's like this more than half the year." She wailed again. They had been lucky near Joliet when they had found a clan that had dealt with the local rat problem by converting the pests into food and furs. In return for aiding...

Fairy Gobblers Pt 03

The two set up camp at the site where Vince has spent so many evenings enjoying his fairy friends. It was still early, so there were no fairy’s around to distract them or entertain them as they set up camp. “Where are the fairies, stupid Vince?” Thomas goaded. “Be patient, we have a few hours. Let’s set up camp, eat and go for a swim.” Vince replied. “I don’t want to swim, I want to fuck a fairy. I want to fuck a hot one and make her have half human half fairy babies.” “That’s not...

Fairy Fairy Quite Contrary

Angelica had downed the first glass of merlot before the bath was even half full. What a day! What a terrible terrible day! A bath and bottle of wine were just what the doctor ordered. She poured a dash of herbal bubble bath into the flow of water. The water turned blue, the calming lavender and heather aroma permeated the air and clouds of bubbles formed on the surface. Angelica poured herself another glass of wine. Glancing in the mirror she caught sight of tear tracks under her eyes. She...

Fairy The Second Book End

Travel from place to place. The Fairy screamed, hiding behind the branches of the shrub. The coyote growled, digging after the morsel. She screamed as a paw raked her leg, opening a slash in it. The Coyote suddenly yipped, biting at the small shaft in its side. "Hai!" Thistle dropped from above. Her sword sliced the animal's back, and she was out before it could bite her. Another arrow hit it, and it whimpered. The Fairy used a brew of poisons made from mixing just about anything...

Fairy Girlfriend

Fairy Girlfriend Carl sat at his computer, looking up the latest news he could find on video games and movies. It was one part of his nightly routine that helped him unwind after a long day at work. His job was nothing great and he was sure society could function without him but the pay was decent and it didn't intrude on his personal life like so many other jobs seemed to in the past. After an hour of half-assed browsing he hear a tap on his window and perked up, glad that the other,...

Love on first sight finding a Fairy

The room has stopped to spin around him and he thinks it’s safe to walk down the hallway. As he stumbles into the kitchen, he feels a little better. Good enough to wonder how he has a hangover. Isn’t that like alcohol withdrawal? There is definitely still alcohol left in his system but whatever. He opens the fridge and takes out the milk. He puts a bowl onto the counter and tries to pour in some cereal. He gets about 90 percent in. Now the milk. Take aim and make sure not to miss. This time...

The Fairy Collector

There were still some folks left in the world, old and disconnected, who did not know what fairies were used almost exclusively for. Most people knew you didn’t go to a Fairy shop for terrarium accessories. Now inside, Angel’s head cleared up and she turned into her true self: a kid in a candy store. The fairies came to life in their glass houses as she skipped by them. Some cowered behind their friends, some observed with curiosity. Angel was of the opinion that fairies were the cutest...

First Contact Daniel Hodges checked his traps meticulously. A shy boy, he had never really gotten along with his peers. He was too short for basketball; too light for wrestling or football, little hand to eye coordination so baseball was out. What could a kid do? He discovered an interest in insects. They never expected him to hit a glove at 90 feet. They didn't care if he could kick, hit, pitch or anything else. They went about their lives with indifference to anything they...

Things will be great when we're downtown... When it comes down to it, skid row is a state of mind rather than an actual place. It is where people go to be away from all society, and even there you can't escape it. Where the needle or the smoke or the bottle is your only friend, and everyone else is a blur. Weather is rain falling on you, snow gently covering and freezing you. The sun baking you and night having it's own terrors. During the winter they flock to mental institutions, and...

Fairy Gobblers

“Be careful,” she told me, “when you’re trekking through the foothills in France. There’s a legend of fairy gobblers that goes back centuries and I would hate for you to come across one unprepared.” She was old and was starting to lose her senses so I didn’t think much of the story she told. She explained to me that the fantasy tales of fairy godmothers were twisted by Hollywood into something cute and sweet but that the true legend came from the legends of fairy gobblers. She told me...

Matilda the Stone Fairy

My name is Matilda, and I used to be a fairy. A long time ago my people were many. We were small, beautiful, full of magic, and generally good people. But not all of us were good. Not all of us were fairies. Some of us changed when we became angry. It took a lot of anger for it to happen, but if we became angry enough a fairy would transform into an ugly raging giant. We called these fairies witches. Our people had a queen. She was queen over all the fairies in the world. It was her wish to...

That Time I Banged A Fairy

So there I was, backpacking through Europe like every other early twenty-something, when lo-and-behold I got myself lost. That’s pretty normal for me. Ever since I was a kid, I got easily distracted by the most mundane things in the world, and got quite comfortable asking retail workers to help me find my parents. Even in my own backyard I’d end up chasing a butterfly or squirrel into another neighborhood if I wasn’t careful. I just love examining the little things in life, the details...

This isn't one of my better stories, but it was something that was bouncing around in my head for awhile so I decided to finally write it down. Fairy Godmother By Morpheus It was late afternoon, close to the evening and I was sitting in the chair by my computer, frowning as I glanced at the clock. It was almost time, not that it was really going to make much difference to me. And though I knew that I shouldn't even be wasting my time thinking about it, I just couldn't help...

An English Country Garden Carrying gear for Faerie through customs can be... interesting. The Customs agent looked at the small pile of metal sections before him, curious. "What is this?" he asked. "Models of pikes," Lady Penelope told him. "May I?" "Please." She took one of the sets, and assembled it into a 16" pike, long haft, with a wide razor sharp blade on the end. She held it out, and the agent looked at it. "Not really a period piece." "No. But it was made by an...
