A Family Gathering By Morpheus As their car pulled into Uncle Jack's driveway, 10 year old David smiled faintly to himself, his hand inside his coat pocket, firmly clutching the object inside. He looked out the window towards the house and tried to keep from giggling, filled with excitement over what was going to happen. It was Thanksgiving and one of the few times every year that everyone in the family got together. All the grown ups would usually be in the living room, talking about grown-up stuff and all. Of course a lot of the men would watch the ball game and the women would hang out in the kitchen and talk there, but it was always the same. The kids were always put in the back bedroom to play. Normally, David wasn't too happy about any family gatherings, knowing that he'd just get stuck with his cousins in the back room, playing whatever they ended up playing. It was sometimes a bit of fun, but David would rather have been out with the grown-ups instead. Or at least be able to get away from some of his cousins. David frowned as he thought about his cousins. Sure, Lita and Corey were fun to play with and even close to his own age. And if it had just been them, David would have been perfectly happy, even if Lita was a girl. Unfortunately though, he knew far too well that it wasn't going to just be them. Every time that they had a family gathering, David had to put up with his less than pleasant relatives as well. Jason, his 14 year old cousin who loved to pick on everyone smaller than him and then there were the 'little kids'. The small ones who always got in the way while David and the others were trying to play the Playstation... at least when Jason let anyone else have a turn that was. "Now David..." His Dad said, interrupting his thoughts. David looked to the front seat where his parents were seated while his Dad continued, "I want you to behave. And don't go fighting with any of the other kids." Nodding somewhat, David agreed, "Okay." Then as they climbed out of the car, David clutched the object in his pocket even tighter and returned to smiling slightly. So what if family gatherings weren't normally very fun. This year was going to be different. He already had something to make sure of that. A minute later, a tall, slightly overweight man with balding brown hair came out of the house, grinning. David just forced a smile while his Uncle Jack said "hi" and commented on how much he'd grown before quickly ignoring him. Then while Uncle Jack was talking to his Dad, David quickly went inside, glancing at the other relatives who were already there before hurrying towards the bathroom. Once David was safely in the bathroom, he quickly pulled his hand from his pocket, still firmly clutching the object that had been inside of it. He grinned to himself as he held it up once again for his inspection. It was a necklace that had a flat circle that was just a little bigger than a silver dollar and looked as if it was made of pewter. Several lines that looked sort of like letters were written on it though they made no sense. However, what immediately drew David's eye was the red crystal in the center that was visible from both sides. It seemed to glow from somewhere inside, making him imagine that a firefly lived inside of there, though he couldn't imagine how it had been put there. "Cool." David chuckled, thinking about how he'd gotten the necklace just a couple days earlier. David had traded his second favorite video game and half his Pokemon cards to a strange new kid at school for it. But after what the other boy had told David, he was sure that it was a good deal for him, even if he would miss that game. The necklace was magic. At least that was what the other boy had told David and David definitely believed him. After all, he had even crossed his heart and hoped to die if he lied, and David didn't doubt such a serious promise. And even better, the other boy had told him that it would let him trade bodies with other people for a little while, which sounded really fun. "Let's see..." David mused for a moment, glancing at the toe headed boy in the mirror for a brief moment while he remembered the instructions. "All I gotta do is hold the necklace and say the other person's name." Then David frowned, knowing that there was a bit more but not completely remembering. "Oh yeah." he added a moment later, remembering that the other person had to be pretty close as well. For a moment, David just smiled as he stared at the necklace, thinking that this year he was going to have a bit more fun for Thanksgiving. Better yet, he wasn't going to get stuck playing with all the other kids, but instead... if his plan worked, he was going to get to stay with the grownups and see what kind of fun they had. All he had to do was find one of the grownups to trade places with... "This is gonna be so cool." David giggled excitedly. He couldn't wait to see what it was like being a grownup. With that, David held the necklace tight and threw open the bathroom door and shot through it with blinding speed in a nearly fluid motion. However, as soon as he was out of the bathroom, David immediately smashed into someone, knocking him backwards so that he fell onto the floor. "Look out!" a girls voice snapped in irritation. David just gasped "Ouch!" and then looked up to see who he'd hit and gasped in surprise. "Jenny!" His eyes lit up at the sight of his 16 year old cousin whom he hadn't seen in a year since she lived so far away. Then he vaguely remembered hearing his Mom talking on the phone earlier and mentioning that she might be taking a bus to visit everyone. The recognition passed through David's mind in a flash, immediately followed by a strange sensation. Everything suddenly shifted all at once, making David feel dizzy for a moment, though it quickly passed. However, once the dizziness was gone, David found himself looking at a skinny blonde boy. Himself. "Oh no." David gasped, looking down at himself and seeing that he'd traded places with Jenny. With a shocked and confused expression, Jenny started looking around frantically, nearly making David giggle since she was doing it in his body and looked rather silly. He then looked back at Jenny, surprised that he had to look down to do so. She looked pretty small next to him now, nearly making him giggle again. As he looked at her, he remembered that he'd accidentally said her name while holding the necklace. He hadn't meant too... especially since he'd wanted to trade with his dad or Uncle Walt, but it had happened. "What's going on?" Jenny demanded, standing up herself. Then she eyed David suspiciously. "Is that you David? Did you do this?" David gulped back, afraid that he was going to get in trouble. Maybe if he traded back with her right away he wouldn't get in trouble. But then he suddenly had another idea and began to grin. Without a word he quickly snatched the necklace out of Jenny's hand before she'd even realized that she'd been holding it. "Uh huh." David answered Jenny, grinning smugly. He certainly hadn't wanted to be Jenny, but since he was in her body he figured that he should at least have a little fun with it. Besides, if he traded back she'd probably take the necklace away from him and he wouldn't be able to use it anymore. "I didn't mean too." David told her almost apologetically. "But I can trade us back later." Jenny stared at him in disbelief as the situation slowly sank in. "Change us back now." she demanded, "I can't be a little boy." David just laughed and stuck his tongue out. "I don't wanna." Then Jenny saw the necklace that David was holding and suddenly understood why he must have taken it away from her so quickly. That had to be how he'd done it. She felt a surge of triumph, knowing that no little kid was going to get the best of her, even if he was in her body at the moment. And with that, Jenny jumped forward to snatch the necklace away from David. "Uh uh." David giggled, suddenly lifting his hand over his head so that the necklace was just out of Jenny's now shorter reach. "Not until I say so." Then feeling smug again, David added, "Now go play with the other kids in the bedroom." Jenny glared at David furiously, wondering what she could do now. But before she could think of anything, David's Dad stepped into the hallway and announced, "David, quit pestering Jenny. Why don't you go play with the other kids in the bedroom? They're getting the video games out." With Jenny momentarily distracted, David quickly slid the necklace into his jeans. For a moment he had been tempted to put it on, but then realized that it would be too easy to use it accidentally that way and he definitely didn't want that. "Have fun... David." David told Jenny, giving her a smug look where his Dad couldn't see. For a moment, Jenny just quickly looked back and forth between David and his Dad, knowing that it would be useless to try and tell anyone what had happened. Who'd be crazy enough to believe her? She certainly wouldn't have been. And with a defeated sigh, she hung her head and started towards the back room, hoping that David would keep his promise and change them back later on. David waited for a minute while his dad and Jenny started to leave, then he turned around and went right back into the bathroom, burning up with curiosity. A minute later, he was once again locked inside, staring at the pretty brunette in the mirror. It was extremely strange seeing Jenny's face looking back at him... but very exciting as well. Within several minutes of going to the front room, David found himself in the kitchen with all of the women, helping them fix dinner and listening to them talking. He thought it was pretty strange since some of it didn't really make any sense to him and other parts were pretty boring, but at the same time it was new. Just like the cooking. Both left him curious though at the same time, wishing that he could go out to the living room and be with his Dad and uncles. "Maybe later." David told himself with a grin before quickly covering it up and pretending to be Jenny. ----- Jenny scowled as she looked around at the other kids in the room. She was not happy at all to be stuck there with them while David was out in the other room, doing who knew what in her body. She knew that she'd just die if he did something stupid to embarrass her, and she strongly suspected that he would. Then again, that would be better than having to be put into the twerps body like she was. It had been nearly an hour since she'd been stuck in the bedroom with the kids. And though she knew that it would be time for them all to go to the living room and eat in another hour or so, it wouldn't be nearly quick enough for Jenny. The sooner she could get everything over with and back to her own body, the happier she'd be. Of course THEN she'd make that little brat pay for stealing her body. "Hey, it's my turn." Corey whined to Jason just a few feet away. Jenny frowned as she looked at Corey, who was the same age as David. He had been whining to Jason ever since Jenny had gotten stuck in the room but Jason didn't seem to be listening too much, or at least in no hurry to let anyone else have much chance with the video games. "You can have a turn when I die." Jason responded, not tearing his eyes away from the screen. Shaking her head, Jenny knew that wasn't much of a deal since Jason was able to play a long time before he lost a life in the game while everyone else tended to die rather quickly, letting it go back to him within a short time. Not that it really mattered to Jenny since she'd never been into video games in the first place and had even less interest at the moment. Suddenly without warning, Jenny was hit from behind as someone climbed onto her shoulders. She instinctively flung the person off and snapped around, angry to see her 5 year old cousin Bobby who'd obviously just wanted to play with her. After just a moment, Bobby started to cry from where he'd sprawled on the floor. "Just great." Jason mumbled. "Now the brat's crying." Jenny glared at him, agreeing though that she wished Bobby would shut up. Suddenly, Jenny's cute 11 year old cousin Lita shot up and ran to comfort her baby brother while Jenny sighed. It was still hard for her to believe that those two were brother and sister since they looked so little alike, though they were. Bobby had light skin and brown hair while Lita's skin was just a bit darker and with black hair, both inherited from her mother... their dad's first wife. "You meanie." 6 year old Tammy announced firmly, glaring at Jenny as if it was all her fault. However Corey quickly told her to quiet down, which seemed a well rehearsed comment since she was his sister. Tammy's only response was to stick her tongue out at him, apparently finding a much better subject for her anger than Jenny. Jenny just closed her eyes and tried to ignore the arguing and noise that her cousins had been making ever since she'd been thrown in with them. It was too close to what she remembered from when she'd been thrown in with them full time just two years earlier. She'd never been so glad once she was allowed to start spending the holidays out with the adults rather than stuck in there. Looking around again, Jenny saw that Jason was still on the game, fighting with Corey over the control. Lita was trying to stop her other brother, the 2 year old Jacob from sticking something into his mouth that he probably shouldn't. Bobby and Tammy both seemed to have forgotten about their earlier unhappiness and were once again running around the room in some parody of tag. The only one missing was Aunt Judy's new baby who was with the adults in the living room. Finally, after a few more minutes, Corey sat down next to Jenny and asked, "What's wrong? Why aren't you playing with us?" Not sure how to respond, Jenny just shrugged. "I'm not in the mood." Lita came over at that, staring at Jenny rather oddly. "Why are you acting so weird?" Jenny was surprised at that, then quickly remembered that usually David was inseparable from those two when they got together. Her mind quickly raced for something to tell them, something that would get them to leave her alone, but at the same time, she ached to be able to tell someone about what had happened to her. To ask someone for help. For a moment, Jenny stared at her cousins, then decided to take a risk. She remembered David's necklace and decided that maybe she talk them into helping her get it. After all, they were just a bunch of gullible kids and once they knew that she was really Jenny, there wouldn't be any problems from them. Feeling both scared and smug at the same time, Jenny said, "I have something very important to tell you and I really need your help." "What's up?" Corey asked curiously. A little more serious... or at least sympathetic looking, Lita asked, "What's wrong?" Taking a deep breath, Jenny's mind raced and then she just blurted it out. "I'm not David. I'm really Jenny." At their blank looks, she quickly added, "He used some sort of magic necklace and traded bodies with me." "Yeah right." Corey snorted in disbelief. Lita just grinned. "Sounds like a fun game." "No!" Jenny snapped firmly, "I'm not joking." They both froze, realizing the seriousness in her expression. She quickly related what had happened and how she was sure that the necklace could put her and David back to normal... then finished with a plea, "Please help me get it." "Yeah right." Corey responded again with a snicker while Lita just watched with an unreadable expression. Thinking quickly, Jenny realized that she'd really have to convince them that she was who she said she was. "Remember that time I was baby-sitting you and you wet your bed after drinking all that juice before bed?" "What?" Corey gasped, his face turning bright red in embarrassment. Jenny quickly went on, "I promised not to tell anyone about it if you promised not to tell anyone that my boyfriend had come over and you caught us making out on the couch." For a moment, Corey just stared at her then gasped. "Jenny? Wow." Lita still looked a little skeptical but was quickly convinced by Corey that it had to be Jenny. She nodded her acceptance of the situation a few minutes later. "Now will you help me get the necklace so I can get back to normal?" Jenny asked them. Corey nodded his head enthusiastically, grinning rather stupidly. "You bet." Jenny felt a sight of relief. "Yeah." Lita added a little more slowly. Finally letting out a sigh of relief, Jenny thanked them, glad that she was going to have help getting back to normal. Then they huddled together and began to make their plans. ----- David walked out of the kitchen, carrying a platter of snacks to the living room and smiling slightly at how odd he still felt. At the slight jiggling on his chest. It was certainly strange, but in spite of that and having to help out, it was fun too. Exciting. "Get outa the way girl." Uncle Larry grunted when David set the tray down on the coffee table. "You make a better door than a window." "Oh." David turned around, realizing that he was standing in front of the TV. "Sorry." Then his Dad smiled, saying, "It's okay Jenny. Thank you." With a nod, David turned and started back towards the kitchen, then made a detour back towards the bathroom when he realized that he had to go pee. That and see what the boobies really looked like. For some reason, his Mom never let him see hers and he was getting very curious about them. Suddenly David was nearly knocked off his feet as Corey shot past him. At the same time, he saw Lita running close behind, yelling, "I'm gonna get you." Before he'd even realized what was going on, Lita had run straight into David, knocking them both to the ground. "Sorry ." she apologized with a giggle, slowly climbing off of David at the same time. "Um... Okay." David mumbled, getting back up and marveling at just how small Lita was compared to normal. Then Corey ran past again and a moment later, Lita shot off like a rocket after him once more. Both disappeared down the hallway towards the back bedroom a moment later, while David watched with a vague feeling of envy, somewhat wishing that he could be playing with them too. A moment later, David heard Jenny's name called and started back towards the kitchen, wondering as he did so if he should let Lita and Corey play with his magic necklace too. After all, he knew that they'd like it just as much as he did. But at the moment, he had other things to do first. ----- Lita and Corey ran back into the bedroom, laughing excitedly to themselves and earning a "Shut up!" from Jason. However, they just stuck their tongues out at him and ran to the back corner where Jenny was waiting impatiently. "I got it." Lita grinned proudly, holding the necklace that she'd stolen from David. Corey snatched it out of her hand. "That was like, so fun." "David didn't know what hit him." Lita added, still grinning. Jenny let out a sigh of relief upon sight of the necklace. "Thank God." She still didn't know how to use it, but she knew that it couldn't be that hard. Not if that stupid little punk had been able to use it. "Now I can get my own body back." And with that, she reached out for the necklace. Suddenly Lita snatched it back from Corey, grinning mischievously. "Uh uh." She shook her head, "We wanna be grown-ups too." Corey nodded his head in emphatic agreement while Jenny's eyes shot wide open. "You can't..." Jenny started. However, Lita continued as if not noticing, "Just like my Mom." With that, the jewel in the middle of the necklace suddenly glowed red, though only for an instant. A moment later, Lita dropped the necklace to the ground and looked around her with a look of complete confusion. "A... Aunt Rene?" Jenny gasped out, knowing that Lita had said her Mom's name just before the jewel had started glowing. While Aunt Rene nodded and looked around the room frantically, Jenny quickly tried to think of what she could do, coming up with nothing. Then with a horrified scream, Aunt Rene suddenly shot towards the door, leaving Jenny behind in confusion, not noticing that Corey had picked up the necklace again until it was too late. ----- David was bending over the playpen, looking the cute baby inside. Aunt Judy's new baby girl Angela was very cute and he smiled at her, happy to see her giggle. He'd never been able to hold her before but couldn't help grinning more as he realized that now he could. They'd never let David hold the baby, but Jenny certainly could. He couldn't wait. Then David looked back towards the kitchen and saw his Mom talking to Aunt Rene inside. However, just as he watched, Aunt Rene staggered for a moment then looked around with a strange expression on her face, though a sudden scream from another room a few seconds later drew his attention instead. "What the hell was that?" Uncle Jack demanded, getting up from the couch and staring towards the hallway. "I'd better not have to tan some hides." Just as Uncle Jack started towards the hallway, Lita ran out, looking really scared. Really confused. "Slow down girl." Uncle Jack snapped. "What's going on?" "What's wrong Lita?" David's Mom asked gently. "I'm not LITA!" Lita screamed, sounding like she was panicking, "I'm Rene! What the hell happened to me?" David stared at her for a moment, his mouth dropped open. With an "Uh oh." he reached down for his pocket and was not surprised to find that it was now empty. The necklace was gone, though it took him only a second to realize what must have happened. "That blabbermouth." He grumbled, angry at Jenny. How could she? Suddenly Uncle Bob, Corey and Tammy's Dad suddenly shot upright with an odd look on his face. "Oh, cool." he gasped, "I'm a grown up." With a slightly sinking feeling, David asked, "Corey?" Corey, in his Dad's body nodded emphatically while everyone else stared at them as if they were crazy. After all, there were three of them in the wrong bodies and acting strangely. For a moment, David was a little mad at having his fun interrupted, but then he grinned, realizing that having Corey and Lita with him would be even better. However, something suddenly dawned on David. "Jenny has the necklace." With that, he dashed for the back room, knowing that he had to get the necklace back before she used it on him again. He wasn't ready to go back to being a little kid again, especially not since Corey and Lita were grown-ups now. Not just teenagers like he was, but real grown-ups. A surge of envy shot through him at that thought. He wanted to be one too. ----- "Give me that!" Jenny snapped at Corey... or at least Corey's body as she reached for the necklace. She already knew that it was too late since he'd said his Dad's name a moment earlier and then the necklace had glowed again. "What the hell?" Uncle Bob demanded, suddenly punching her in an instinctive act of self defense, sending Jenny sprawling to the floor. Snapping his head around, Bob yelled, "What am I doing on here..." Then he froze before gasping, "My voice." He dropped the necklace and started grabbing at his body, mumbling, "My body..." Jason turned away from the video game and stood up, glaring at them. "You made me loose a life pip-squeak." He was obviously angry at the interruption and all the noise that they'd been causing. Before Uncle Bob could or Jenny could react, Bobby ran forward and grabbed the necklace, grinning proudly. "I wanna play with it." Tammy whined. "Uh uh." Bobby shook his head, "I got it." Jenny gasped, jumping towards Bobby who was suddenly out of reach and running away from Tammy who chased him, giggling loudly. "Oh no." Jenny gasped. Uncle Bob looked around in confusion, demanding to know what was going on while Jason looked confused. "Shut up and sit down!" Jason ordered Bobby, quickly catching him and swatting him on the butt. "Or I'm gonna pound you." Bobby let out a loud wail, crying, "I'm gonna tell my mommy on you..." Then suddenly the medallion glowed again and Bobby looked around confused. "I'm back..." Lita gasped from Bobby's body, then looked down at herself and cried out in horror, "I'm Bobby!" Then she looked disgusted, "But I don't wanna be a boy." "Give me that back." Jenny ordered, earning a glare from Jason who was obviously wondering what was going on. Lita stuck out her tongue then her eyes suddenly gleamed with mischief. "I know... I wanna be pretty... just like Aunt Judy..." And with that she was gone as well, leaving a confused Aunt Judy in Bobby's tiny body. Suddenly David burst into the room, looking around with his eyes wide open. "Uh oh. I think I'm in trouble..." He knew immediately that things were already getting out of control. While Aunt Judy was frantically grabbing at her new body, Uncle Bob, Aunt Rene and Jason simultaneously demanded, "What the hell is going on?" However, before Jenny or David could come up with an answer, Tammy picked the necklace off of the floor where it had been dropped and then slipped it around her neck, gasping, "Pretty." Then she giggled as she started running towards the door, exclaiming, "I'm gonna show..." the last words that they heard as she shot out the door were "Unca Jack." David looked at Jenny and they both let out a simultaneous groan. "We've got to get that back..." Jenny gasped, though David already knew that and had started for the door again, with all of the others following close behind. As soon as they reached the living room, David could hear Tammy's frantic voice crying out, "Oh my God Susan..." Then it was quickly followed by another confused burst in the same voice, though from another person inside that body. From Susan... David's mom. "I'm... I'm a little girl again." The voice was frantic and she ran to David's dad crying out, "Help me Greg..." "Oh shit." Jenny gasped from beside David as they watched the chaos unfolding. As they watched, several more people shot into and then back out of Tammy's body, powered by their confused calling out to the others for help or explanation. Finally, Tammy, or whomever was in her body looked over at David and then towards the two year old Jacob who'd started to climb on top of Uncle Jack's speakers. With a look of horror she cried out, "Jacob..." another exchange a moment later. Jason suddenly gasped "Holy shit. Everyone is like... trading bodies." "Good guess genius." Jenny snapped at him, trying to make her way towards the necklace so that she at least could get back to where she belonged. The rest could be sorted out afterwards. Though he was laughing at all the strange reactions, David knew that it was getting a little too weird. Then he called out, "Get the necklace Lita." though he didn't know whom she was at the moment, but figured that she was probably closer to 'Tammy' than he was. At that, several people started forwards and Uncle Jack, or whomever was in his body grabbed Tammy, pulling the necklace off. Before he could do anything with it, Uncle Larry grabbed it, exclaiming, "So this is what's causing all this chaos." Oddly enough though, the voice was rough but it sounded wimpy... sort of like a girls. "Please be quiet..." Jenny cried out, glaring at the crib where baby Angela was crying loudly, obviously scared by all the noise. Suddenly Jason jumped forwards, "Lemme see that necklace..." Whomever was in Uncle Jack's body yelled, "Stay back Jason..." A moment later, there was another flash of light from the necklace. Jason gasped and grabbed at his body, a look of complete shock on his face. "I'm... I'm in Dad's body." He patted his stomach and winced, "Oh man this is weird." "It's okay baby..." whomever was in Aunt Lucille's body said towards Angela, "It's okay." However, it was obvious from her voice that she didn't seem to believe it herself. With a snarl, Jason turned towards 'Aunt Lucille' and the baby and snapped, "Will you shut up Angela..." He cut off as a blank and confused look filled his face, just before he collapsed to the ground, crying. "Oh wow." David whispered, staring at the tiny baby in the playpen who was looking around with an extremely confused expression, then Jason in Angela's body started crying loudly, sounding just like the real Angela had mere minutes earlier. "Jason's a baby." David couldn't help laughing at that. For several minutes he just stared down at Jason, barely aware of the chaos around him. Of all the relatives who were grabbing at their bodies in confusion or the crying body of Uncle Jack. Then he suddenly remembered the necklace. "Is that you David?" Uncle Rene, or whomever was in her body asked. David nodded. "Yeah." wondering who that was. With a sigh, 'Aunt Rene' gasped out, "It's me... Lita." She actually sounded just a little smug at that, which wasn't too surprising since Aunt Rene was very pretty and he knew that Lita must like being that way for a change. "This is so cool." she grinned. He nodded, grinning himself. Then he gasped, "The necklace..." With that, he turned away from her and rushed to Uncle Jack's body... then frantically looked for the necklace. However, after a few seconds, he let out a loud groan... "It's gone." "What do you mean it's gone?" Someone asked from behind him. David turned and saw that it was his real body... probably still having Jenny inside of it then. She glared at him then yelled, "Who's got the necklace?" However, no one answered. Frantic, David ran through the house, asking everyone if they had the necklace, but most shook their heads, some not even having noticed it at all. After more searching, David slipped along next to Lita, muttering, "I can't find it anywhere." "Me neither." She responded quietly. "How are we going to get back to normal?" There was a faint tinge of fear in her voice but a little hope as well. David frowned then responded, "It's supposed to wear off." Then he silently added, "I think." He remembered the boy who'd sold it to him telling him something like that, but he didn't remember that part too clearly. He'd been too busy thinking about what he could do with something like that necklace. "It'll wear off..." Tammy... or at least whomever was in her body gasped with relief, having overheard them. "I won't be stuck as a girl again." Then she ran off to start telling the others. A short while later, everyone had calmed down, especially after David and Jenny explained what had happened, and even more so after the revelation that it was only temporary. However, that didn't stop most of family members from looking everywhere for the necklace, though there was still no sign of it. "It couldn't have just walked away on it's own." David's Mom growled from Bobby's body. "Well magic doesn't exist either..." Uncle Larry snapped from Lita's body, "but it sure as hell looks like it does now." Susan just glared back at him, not having anything to say in response. When everyone sat down for dinner, it was unusually quiet and filled with odd looks at each other. David sat in his seat, trying hard not to grin. He couldn't believe how funny it was that everyone was in the wrong body, even if he was going to end up grounded for a year because of it. David's mom was struggling to even reach her plate, as was Aunt Rene in Tammy's. Uncle Jack glared at everyone from Jacob's tiny body while Aunt Lucille distracted herself from being in Corey's body by teasing him. As it was, all of the kids except for Jason were now in grown-ups bodies, and enjoying themselves. Corey was in Aunt Lucille's body, Jacob was inside Uncle Bob's. Bobby was inside of David's Mom's and Tammy was now in the body of David's Dad, while Corey seemed happy to still be Uncle Larry. "I hope this never ends." Lita whispered to David, who nodded slightly, wondering what it would have been like to have been his Dad or someone else like he'd originally planned. Still, it was definitely interesting being Jenny and a large part did wish that he could try it for a bit longer. After dinner, everyone had gathered in the living room, new grown-ups and kids alike, though most of the former kids had wanted to banish the new ones to the bedroom like they themselves had been. David watched with some amusement as everyone gave each other and themselves odd looks, though he himself felt strange every time he looked at Jenny. It seemed weird to see himself from the outside like that. It was six hours since David had traded places with Jenny and it was still strange being in her body. He didn't think that he could ever get used to being a girl. It was all he could do to keep from touching the boobies on his chest and the only thing that allowed him to keep his hands away was the embarrassment of doing that in front of Jenny and the others. He blushed at the very thought. Then suddenly David felt a wave of dizziness blast through him, lasting only a second but when it had passed looked around in surprise. "I'm... I'm me again." He looked over to where he had been sitting just a moment earlier and saw Jenny examining her own body in undisguised glee. "Now..." Jenny said slowly, turning towards David and making him gulp nervously, "I owe you a pounding for stealing my body twerp." Suddenly Lita stood between them, glaring down at Jenny who was still smaller than her. "Leave him alone. You should just be happy to be back to normal." Jenny grumbled silently but sat down, glancing at David then making an effort to ignore him. Lita grinned smugly then looked over to Aunt Rene and smiled more before sitting down on the couch, obviously impressed with her newfound grown-up status. An hour later, Lita suddenly froze and shuddered visibly. Then Lita's body jumped up and grabbed at her chest, exclaiming, "I'm flat again." The disappointment was obvious. "Six hours." David's dad gasped from Jason's body. "It was six hours for David and now for Lita. That's how long it takes to wear off." He let out a sigh of relief, as did nearly everyone else. It only too several more minutes before his theory was proven and everyone else started to slowly swap back until everyone was normal again. Once everyone was back to their normal bodies, they looked at each other oddly, with a new perspective, though no one said a word about what had happened. And it was with a silent agreement that they would not talk about it openly. The experience had been a strange one for all of them, and one in which they would never forget. David slouched as they said their good-byes and left, wishing that he could have seen more of what it was like being Jenny. That things might have gone as he'd planned, or better yet, that he still had the necklace. However, he sadly knew that none of those were to happen. "See ya." David told Lita and Corey before he followed his parents out the door. Somehow, he suspected that it would be awhile before he saw them or anyone else. That it would be some time before he was even allowed outside of his bedroom. With a sigh, he resigned himself to his fate, wondering what had happened to the necklace. ----- Corey sat on the back seat of the car, glancing at his parents in the front seat and then Tammy who was asleep on the seat next to him. She'd really been tired out by what had happened back at the party, but then again so had he. Then, after a few more moments of silence, Corey slipped his hand into his pocket and clutched the object inside, smiling mischievously as he did. It hadn't been hard at all to get it out of Angela's hands when she was crying in Uncle Jack's body. Not with everyone so distracted by everything that was going on. "Too bad." he mumbled quietly, still disappointed that the body exchanging had only been temporary. Then he smiled again, knowing that it didn't really matter since he still had the necklace. All he needed was another chance to use it... and he knew that he'd find it soon enough. THE END
