The Life and Times of Bethany Clark written by LaMystika ([email protected]) Chapter 2 - Twintuition The drive to the airport was an uneventful one, and I pulled my car up next to the curb where the parking meters were. Putting a dollar's worth of quarters into the meter, I messaged my brother that I had arrived and wanted to know which terminal he was in so I could pick him up. The tension was extremely thick as I walked across the airport. I kept waiting for a text from Will. None came. I walked over to the terminal to check arrivals. Oh crap, I said to myself. His flight was delayed an hour. I'll need to put more quarters in the parking meter. Once I returned from doing that, I sat down in the waiting area, crossed my legs and pulled my Nintendo DSi out of my purse and switched it on. I snapped a few pictures of myself for no particular reason, then started to play a game of Planet Puzzle League. I decided to play the "endless" game; that way, by the time I was finished, Will's plane should be here. One could only hope. I was completely absorbed with my game, oblivious to everything around me. People were humming about, talking about whatever was important to them, and it was all white noise to me. I was all about lining up colored blocks in rows of 3 or more. About 50 minutes later, my game finally ended, and switched my handheld off and placed it back into my purse. Turning to face the window, I saw that a plane had just landed in our terminal. That must be Will, I'm sure of it. I noticed a bunch of people beginning to gather near the entrance tunnel, so I decided to avoid the crowd and I stayed in my seat. Before long, I heard nothing but screams and squeals and just about everything else as people met up with each other as they boarded off the plane. Once the crowd began to thin out, I finally saw my brother. He looked as sharp as he always did, ever the playboy. He was wearing a dark blue short sleeved polo shirt with the collar turned up and a pair of blue jeans, rolled at the ankles. He was wearing multicolored sneakers; I couldn't tell what brand they were. He had a bag slung over his shoulder, which I assumed was his laptop. He kept hair neat and trimmed, and he looked just as I remembered him. Well, he looked a bit huskier. He must be getting well fed at home. Anyways, I saunter on over to him and took a closer look at him. His reaction was bizarre, like who is this crazy bitch staring at me? I decided to break the ice in the only clumsy way I knew how. "You don't recognize me, do you?" was the only thing I said to Will as I began to pout. A wave of recognition swept over his face. "Oh my God... Bethany?" I nodded yes and threw myself at my brother, giving him a big hug. "I am SOOO glad to see you!" I exclaimed. "How are you doing?" "Not nearly as well as you apparently," Will replied. "Look at you!" I was blushing and grinning from ear to ear. "Honestly? I've never seen you so happy. I'm glad to see that you're doing okay." I knew was beginning to tear up... I was overcome with emotion. Damn these hormones, making me express my emotions and stuff. I used to bottle these things up. Wait, that wasn't healthy. Never mind. A good cry always helps. "Tears of joy, huh, sis?" Will asked. "C'mon, let's get my stuff and let's get going." I sheepishly nodded as if to say okay and we walked over to the baggage claim. I helped Will with his luggage and we loaded it into the trunk of my car. Soon after, we were on our way back to my apartment. Seeing my brother sitting next to me, I could not believe the wave of emotions that were sweeping over me. My brother really loves me. He really does accept me. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------- After making a quick stop at Burger King, I brought Will back to my apartment. "It's not much," I explained as I turned the key in the lock, "but it's home." Will brought his bags inside and took a look around. He noticed my throw rugs and my wall scrolls, and he spied the punching bag I kept in the corner. "I'm glad you finally learned how to clean up and decorate, sis," Will said to me. "When you were my brother, you were SOOO messy. Being a woman definitely agrees with you." "Thanks," I replied uneasily. "I think." "Relax, sis, it's a compliment," Will said back to me. He looked over and saw my TV table, noticed my flatscreen HDTV, as well as the Wii I had hooked up to it. Bending over to look at the side of the stand, I could tell he could see the Wii Fit balance board propped up against the side of it. "Hmm," he began, "I should've known you did the whole Wii Fit thing." "So what?" I asked, giving my brother a love tap on his arm. "I like it, and it's actually helped keep me in shape." Pointing to the corner of the apartment, opposite the heavy bag, next to the couch, I said "You can put your things over there. The couch folds out, and I already made the bed inside. Would you like something to drink?" "Sure," Will replied. "Mind if I turn on your TV?" "Knock yourself out," I answered, and I shuffled off to the kitchen. Will set his things in the corner by the couch before having a seat. Reaching for the remote, he switched on the TV and noticed that it was already on the basketball game. "Wow," Will said in disbelief. "You still watch sports?" I tossed Will a can of Pepsi while I tried to form words to answer his question. "Yeah," I shrugged, opening my can, "I guess I still enjoy watching." "Which part?" Will asked mischievously. "The actual game, or the guys playing it?" Damn... I shrunk a little inside upon hearing that question. I guess it was going to come up sooner or later, and I guess it's good that he got right down to it. Thinking a little about the question, I responded "I guess it's a little bit of both. I don't really cheer for any one team, I just like watching a good game. At the same time, though, I'd be lying if I said I didn't think some of the guys were cute, but I've learned over the years to keep things in perspective. I don't think they would want to be seen with someone who used to be a guy." "I don't see a guy, Bethany, I see my twin sister." Will said. "To be honest with you, I, uh... kinda knew this was in you all along." Crap. I froze dead in my tracks. I could tell my face turned bright red. He KNEW!? How? "I... uh, don't know what you mean," I stammered out. "Don't play dumb sis. I caught you in mom's clothes when we were 17," Will said to his sister, calmly. "You said that you were just curious, but I knew better. You knew what you were doing, and I'm pretty sure you started doing that long before I caught you." I started staring at the floor. He can see right through me. "Your response tells me I'm right," Will continued. "When I visited you a few years later, I noticed you had a wig in your closet. How convenient for you that it was Halloween, but still, most guys don't normally dress up as girls on Halloween." He saw my wig? Damn it, I thought I was more careful than that back then. How much else does he know? "You wanna know something else, Beth? You look like Mom. Even when everyone saw you as Leon, you looked like Mom. Everyone who saw you two together noticed it right away. Now, you look more like Mom than Mom does." "I guess that explains why she doesn't really like talking to me anymore, huh?" Bethany asked with tears in her eyes. "Maybe it's because you picked the name Michael was supposed to have, instead of the name she said you would've had," Will responded. "I really don't know the answer there, sis. Why did you pick the name Bethany anyway?" "I remember when Mom said that was going to be the name of our little sister when we were 5," I replied. "I know that this may sound strange, but even then, I felt a little bit jealous. I thought Bethany was such a cool name, and even then I felt that something was wrong about me. Mom used to tell all kinds of stories about how she used to dress me up in pink and put barrettes in my hair when I was a baby, but I couldn't remember it, and there weren't any pictures. "When Michael was born, I could tell that Mom was sad that she didn't have a daughter. As years went by, when I started wearing her clothes in secret, I began to wish that I could've been her daughter, and the fact that I could not be began to eat away at me." "I suppose that explains why you were always so angry and sad growing up, huh?" Will said to his sister. "And why you were never interested in being with a girl... you wanted to BE one. I guess I can understand that." I nodded sheepishly, trying in vain to stop myself from crying. "The biggest tipoff about you, though, was when we shared that computer, and I noticed all the websites you went to late at night. I asked you then if this was something you wanted to do, and you denied it. But I knew better, sis. I knew then that you were going to do this, even if you didn't back then." I no longer tried to suppress my feelings. Now I was openly crying. "I shouldn't be surprised... you were always able to see right through me. Were you just waiting for me to tell you for all those years?" "Exactly," Will replied. "You really should've known that you couldn't hide anything from me... I got that twintuiton you know." A small giggle escaped my lips. I threw myself at my brother, giving him a big hug. "I love you so much Will", I said between sobs. "You're the only one who stood up for me when I came out to everyone. Believe it or not, but your support was all I ever really wanted." Will hugged back. "I know, sis, I know. C'mon, don't cry. We have a big day tomorrow, right? We're gonna have a party, right?" I nodded in the affirmative. "That's right. Now come sit down with me, and we can watch the game." I happily obliged him and we sat down to watch the game. It got boring quickly though. The game was surprisingly non-competitive for a playoff game. "This bores me," Will said, imitating Prince from Chappelle's Show. "Wanna play a Wii game with me?" I raised an eyebrow. "Oh yeah? What game do you wanna play?" "Depends, whaddya got?" So I sauntered over to the TV table and took my two Wii remotes off the charging cradle I had them on. Plugging controllers into the remotes, I tossed one set at Will, then turned on the Wii machine with my remote and switched the TV to display the game. "We'll play Secret of Mana. It'll be like old times." "Not exactly," Will replied. "You'll get to be the girl this time." I blushed a little before taking my seat back on the couch. We played Secret of Mana together for about two hours. I think Will was a little surprised to learn that I had already begun a game, and that the name of the male and female characters were Will and Beth, respectively. "Aww, you already set this up," Will said in a mocking baby voice. I blushed again. Damn it. "So I did. I just wanted to get all the boring stuff out of the way. There isn't a problem, is there?" "Not at all. It's better this way." It was around 12:45 am when we finally wrapped things up for the night. I placed the Wii remotes back on the charging cradle to recharge the batteries, then let out a loud yawn. Hmm, that wasn't very ladylike of me. Or was it? I really wasn't sure. "Gosh, I'm really sleepy," I announced, stretching my arms out. "Yeah, I am too," Will smiled. "Go get some beauty sleep, sis. We can talk more in the morning, okay?" "Sure thing," I nodded. "Good night, Will." "Good night, sis." Will opened up the sofa while I shuffled off to the bathroom to remove my makeup. I took off my clothes and put on my bedclothes, then laid down on my bed. Within 30 minutes, Will was fast asleep, and I soon followed him into dreamland.

The Life and Times of Bethany Clark Chapter 7 In the Club

The Life and Times of Bethany Clark by LaMystika ([email protected]) Chapter 7 - In the Club Even though I had agreed to go out to the club, I was still beyond terrified when we all actually made it to the parking lot. I was afraid of meeting some guy, him somehow finding out I was born male, and then trying to keep him from trying to beat me up, rape me, or even kill me. It may even be slightly irrational fear, but that fear is what has kept me from even trying to date,...

The Life and Times of Bethany Clark by LaMystika ([email protected]) Chapter 4 - Leon After we got back home, Will immediately collapsed on my couch, and comically let out his belt. The Life and Times of Bethany Clark Chapter 8 Birthday Sex

The Life and Times of Bethany Clark By LaMystika ([email protected]) Chapter 8 - Birthday Sex The ride wasn't nearly as steamy as I thought it might've been. I somehow managed to keep my raging hormones in check during the entire trip. The last song that played on the radio before they got to Dan's apartment, however, was "Birthday Sex". How convenient, I smiled to myself. Dan walked me to the door of his apartment, opened the door, led me inside, and turned on the main...

A WellLived Life Book 4 BethanyChapter 61 Prom and Pomp and Circumstance Part II

May 1981 — Milford/Cincinnati, Ohio “Steve Adams, I promised to fuck you to within an inch of your life, and that’s what I’m going to do. If you can walk out of this hotel tomorrow morning, I’ve failed!” “I do need to be able to walk out, as well as drive home!” I protested with a laugh. “True. So maybe only to within two inches. Or is it just over six?” she giggled. “Cute, Bethany, cute!” I chuckled. “And,” she smirked, licking her lips with the tip of her tongue, “I have a very special...

A WellLived Life Book 4 BethanyChapter 27 Homecoming

September/October 1980, Milford, Ohio On Sunday after I called Karin, I had my weekly ‘play date’ with Debbie V, and she helped me pick out a gift for Karin, as her birthday was coming up and I wanted to send it so she could get it in time. I spent the rest of the day with Beth, working on computer dating and programming stuff. Bethany had come over for a few hours in the afternoon and hung out with us. I also let Beth know that the following Sunday we’d only have a short day because I had a...

A WellLived Life Book 4 BethanyChapter 34 The Problem of Being Me

November 1980, Milford, Ohio On Thursday, I had my usual date with Elyse. We were still just good friends, and I didn’t expect that to change anytime soon. On Friday, Bethany and I went to dinner at Ponderosa and had steaks and baked potatoes. Once we finished, I paid, and we walked quickly to the car, driving straight to the apartment. We had our clothes off in seconds after closing the door. “I need you to fuck me silly,” Bethany growled. I pulled her to me and kissed her hard, our...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 4 ElyseChapter 7 Bethany

March 4, 1990, Chicago, Illinois “Well?” Kara asked with a smirk as she, Jessica, and I sat down to a quiet dinner in the ‘Indian’ room. “About as wild as could be. I was more than a little concerned by Abbie’s plan, but in the end, when she told me why, it made perfect sense.” “What was her reasoning?” Jessica asked. “She felt that it had to be raw sex and nothing more, because otherwise Becka would never have left.” Kara giggled, “Abbie seems to get smarter every day.” “I never had a...

October 4, 1986, Chicago, Illinois Later that evening, I told Bethany that Kara and Jessica had agreed to the date, and that I’d made the reservations. She stayed in with Kara and me, and we watched television and ate popcorn. Tasha had come for her usual homework session, but had left immediately afterwards, saying that she was going home so that she could go to church on Sunday morning. “Anyone interested in a sauna?” Josie asked. “Sure,” I said. “Is Jesse joining us?” “Yes! A WellLived Life Book 4 BethanyChapter 19 Real Problems

September 1980, Milford, Ohio At school on Monday, Erin came to find me at my locker. “You didn’t ask me out, Steve!” “I’m sorry,” I said, closing my locker. “I’ve been really busy. But we could go out for dinner and ice cream on Tuesday or Thursday?” “Thursday is fine! I do have to be home by 9:00pm.” “I’ll pick you up around 5:00pm.” In Miss Barkhurst’s class, we had our first dissection — earthworms. I got a kick out of who had problems with handling them and who didn’t. The funniest...

October/November, 1980, Milford, Ohio I didn’t know for sure what to expect when I walked into chemistry class on Wednesday. I had tossed and turned in bed and hadn’t slept well because I couldn’t get the situation with Kara out of my head. It was going to be a mess, no matter what happened. That was the only thing I was sure of. “Hi, Steve,” Kara said quietly. “Hi, Kara,” I answered, not looking her in the eye. “What’s wrong?” “I told you last night what was wrong and what would...

April 19, 1986, Chicago, Illinois After the party ended, Jessica, Kara, and I went up to our room to talk. “Now may I ask the question?” Kara said, looking at me for approval, which I gave with a nod. “Jess,” she continued, “please don’t get upset, but it seems like you’re trying to goad Steve into doing something just so you can beat him up for doing it.” “Why would I do that?” Jessica asked. I found it interesting that she didn’t deny it. That revelation meant that the conversation...

Submissive Cum Laude Chapter 1 Mistress Bethany

It had been an adjustment for Alex, moving across the pond to the states. The longer he was here the more benefits he noticed to being a young British man in “the colonies.” His accent afforded him an odd degree of respect that he never would've commanded at home. He had been complimented by no shortage of women who loved the sound of his voice. Alex had done his best to curtail his use of typical British slang. He liked that people knew he was foreign, but he didn't want to stick out like...

October 1, 1992, San Francisco, California “We need some ground rules,” I said. “Oh no you don’t!” Bethany growled. “You are NOT talking me to death. Fucking me to death, yes! Talking me to death, no!” “I’m serious. Sit, please.” Bethany reluctantly moved to the loveseat in the sitting room of our suite at the Mark Hopkins InterContinental Hotel on Nob Hill in San Francisco. A WellLived Life Book 4 BethanyChapter 62 Everything Changes

May-June 1981, Milford, Ohio I woke up on Friday morning with the song Efter Plugget going through my head. «Nu är det bara en sommar kvar Ungefärg 59 dar Så ska man göra som alla andra Man ska in i cirkeln och vandra» (Now there’s just a Summer left Just about 59 days Now I’ll do like everyone else and join the rat race) Of course, the song didn’t really apply, since I did have a plan and knew what I was going to do, but it still came to mind. I swam with Stephanie, then we showered...

June 15, 1986, Chicago, Illinois “What did Bethany have to say?” I asked Jessica as we showered together on Sunday morning. “We talked a lot about you, and about her, and how things had come to where they are now. I guess I helped make a mess of her life, so I feel a bit of an obligation to help put it back together.” “No way, Babe! August, 1985, Chicago, Illinois On Monday morning we had a short staff meeting because Dave and Julia weren’t back from their honeymoon. They’d return on Thursday, and things would get back to normal, at least at NIKA. September, 1980, Milford, Ohio Things with Bethany seemed normal on Thursday. After school, I helped Mrs. Seime with the YFU Exchange Program presentation. There were six sophomores who participated, and I spoke for about five minutes about my experiences and answered questions. September 1980, Milford, Ohio I was up early as usual on Saturday morning. I swam with Stephanie and we ate breakfast together. I let Dad know I’d be out with Bethany most of the day and would be home just after midnight, which was well before my 1:00am curfew. February 1981, Milford, Ohio Sunday followed the usual pattern of a call to Karin, swimming and breakfast with Stephanie, and then doing homework until Beth arrived. When Beth arrived, I talked with her about an problem that we’d have to solve, and probably soon. If she was at U of I and I was at IIT, we’d have no real way of providing support to our customers in and around Cincinnati. I suggested we find a Freshman or Sophomore to help us over the Summer and after we went to Chicago. “Why...

February 1981, Milford, Ohio Sunday was Krista’s first day with Beth and me. I noticed that Stephanie hung out with us far more than usual. I suspected that she was keeping an eye on Krista because everyone knew Krista had been flirting with me the whole year. April 1981, Milford, Ohio On Saturday morning, after swimming and breakfast, Stephanie and I started setting up for Bethany’s birthday party. We were doing it at lunchtime because I would be in the play that evening. Stephanie and I were invited to her house on Sunday for her family celebration as well. I was happy the day had turned out nice, given we were planning on grilling hamburgers. I loaded the charcoal into the grill, and then Stephanie and I formed the hamburger into patties. I...

A WellLived Life Book 4 BethanyChapter 43 Firsts Part IV

January 1981, Milford, Ohio On Monday, when I sat down beside Kara in chemistry class, she reached over and squeezed my hand. “Kara, let’s have lunch, I need to tell you what happened on Saturday.” “OK. I’ll meet you at the computer lab.” I dropped my hand to her knee and squeezed as the bell rang and Kara smiled. At lunch, I stopped to tell Bethany I’d be talking to Kara and then went to the computer lab. Kara arrived just about the same time I did. I unlocked the door, and we went...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 1 BethanyChapter 8 Tentative Steps

April 6, 1986, Chicago, Illinois It had been a wonderful ten days with Jessica in Chicago, and both Kara and I were sad to see her packing her things for her trip back to Indianapolis. We’d had a very good taste of what life would be like once Jessica was in Chicago full-time, but that was still more than a year away. Between now and then, we’d be apart more than we were together. “We’ll miss you, Babe,” I said as I put her bag into the back seat of her car. “I’ll miss you both! I’ll see...

A WellLived Life Book 4 BethanyChapter 17 Senior Year Begins

August 1980, Milford, Ohio On Monday morning, Stephanie and I got up early enough to swim and eat breakfast together. Stephanie was starting eighth grade, so she’d be riding Bus #8 with me. Unfortunately, Jeff was also on the same bus, but I didn’t really worry to much about that because of what I planned to do. My first order of business, when I got to school, would be to get a parking pass which Seniors could get automatically just by asking. I also knew that Mom would then insist that I...

A WellLived Life Book 4 BethanyChapter 57 Three Birthdays Two Jobs and a Play Part I

March/April 1981, Milford, Ohio I had half-expected Stephanie to sneak into my room on Sunday night, but to my combined relief and regret, she didn’t. We were up early to swim and she once again looked around for any observers and gave me a quick kiss. “I missed sleeping with you last night, Big Brother,” she whispered. “I wanted to come to your room, but I knew it was too dangerous!” “We’ll find some time, Squirt, I promise!” “Good!” she whispered, “My pussy feels so empty!” “Just your...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 1 BethanyChapter 12 Self Discovery With Some Help

May 17, 1986, Chicago, Illinois “Dance with me!” Leila insisted when I came into the sunroom. I took her hand and led her to the dance area, then took her into my arms. “When do you leave for home?” I asked. “Tuesday. I’ll be back in August. Thanks for letting us move in!” “You’re welcome,” I said. “So does everyone who lives here get privileges?” she whispered. I chuckled, “Dave lives here, so I think the answer to that is a resounding ‘no’!” She laughed, “You know what I...

A WellLived Life Book 4 BethanyChapter 18 Bethany

August 1980, Milford, Ohio I rang the bell and Bethany opened the door a few seconds later. We got in the car and I pulled out of the driveway. “Where to, Bethany?” “That depends. Do you want to eat or should we just go straight to making love?” she giggled. “Let’s eat and talk, which is what you said we would do.” “You still aren’t sure.” “That’s right. What do you want to eat?” “Let’s go to my dad’s country club! You’re dressed OK in slacks and polo.” “I wondered why you had on a...

A WellLived Life Book 4 BethanyChapter 59 Three Birthdays Two Jobs and a Play Part III

April 1981, Milford, Ohio The rest of the week went along as usual, with Kara accompanying me to the computer lab, and me going on my date with Elyse. Kara didn’t raise the issues that were clearly spinning around in her head, but I knew she would, eventually. I did pull Mary and Tracey aside separately and ask them to be careful about their teasing and joking around Kara. They both agreed to tone it down a bit, which I figured was the best I could do. On Tuesday when I arrived home, I had...

A WellLived Life Book 4 BethanyChapter 38 Skiing and Skating

December 1980, Milford, Ohio and Boyne Mountain, Michigan The rest of December followed the pattern that had been set at the beginning of the month, but now Debbie was seeing Phillip every Saturday. I didn’t invite Kara out because I wanted her to think things through, but I saw her in chemistry class and at lunch and told her that we would talk after I returned from Columbus. On Saturdays, I had lunch with Bethany and hung out with Larry during the evening. It was good to hang out with...

A WellLived Life Book 10 The WifeChapter 4 Bethany and Jennifer

St. Stephen’s Day, 1984, Indianapolis, Indiana I went to see if Ed had returned and found him and my sister sitting with Kara. Ed looked even happier than he had earlier, so I assumed my sister had properly thanked him. “She’s awake, but groggy,” I said. “She has no idea what happened, though. Ed, why don’t you go see her?” “Thanks!” he replied, giving Stephanie a quick kiss. “I see you properly thanked him!” I teased, after he left. She laughed, “I did. Twice!” “You weren’t gone THAT...

A WellLived Life Book 4 BethanyChapter 29 Kara and Tracey

October 1980, Milford, Ohio Thursday and Friday were normal and Dona didn’t bother Bethany. I was glad, but I was a bit concerned that there would be more fallout. I hoped that wouldn’t be the case, but experience told me that there might be. On Friday morning, the Student Council started handing out the computer dating sheets. I got mine and wasn’t surprised to see Bethany at the top of the list. Kathy and Mary were fourth and fifth, respectively, and Erin was ninth. The rest were a mix of...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 1 BethanyChapter 32 Katy and Kenneth

November 3, 1986, Chicago, Illinois “Ugh,” Jessica groaned when her alarm clock went off at 4:00am. The three of us had agreed that Kara would stay in bed and that I would get up with Jessica and eat breakfast with her. We left a soundly sleeping Kara in bed, and while Jessica showered and quickly dressed, I went downstairs to make breakfast. “You didn’t have to get up with me, Tiger,” she said as I served her bacon and eggs. “I’m going back to bed once you leave,” I grinned. “Do you plan...

A WellLived Life Book 4 BethanyChapter 60 Prom and Pomp and Circumstance Part I

April/May 1981 — Milford/Cincinnati, Ohio When I woke up on Sunday morning, I called Karin, then swam and ate breakfast with Stephanie. When Dad got up, I thanked him profusely for allowing the party and for keeping Mom away from us. He told me he was quite pleased with our behavior, and that, as he’d expected, there had been no fights, no booze or drugs, and that we’d left everything spotless. He warned me that Mom might say something to me about it and reminded me to just keep my cool. I...

A WellLived Life Book 4 BethanyChapter 39 Out With the Old in With the New

January 1981, Milford, Ohio On Friday morning, I called Kara as I had promised. We agreed to go out on Saturday evening. After completing my call to Kara, I called Bethany to see if she wanted to have lunch or dinner. “Both!” she said. “As long as your sister can come with us.” “Don’t trust yourself alone with me?” I quipped. “That will be the day, Steve Adams! Just pick me up around 11:00am.” “See you then!” I went to find Stephanie and let her know she was going out with Bethany and...

A WellLived Life Book 4 BethanyChapter 50 Myth and Reality

February 1981, Milford, Ohio On Wednesday, Kara simply smiled at me when I walked into chemistry class, rather than greeting me with a kiss. I knew that she and I had to have a long talk, so I didn’t let it bother me. I wasn’t quite ready to talk to her yet, thinking that Friday night would be best when we could be alone for an extended time. Of course, there was a question of whether or not she was willing to go out with me. “Kara, can I see you Friday night?” I asked. “Of course! We’re...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 1 BethanyChapter 40 The Fate of All Men

January 23, 1987, Chicago, Illinois “Hi, Peaches,” I said as she walked out of the Jetway door. “Hi, Yankee!” she said, flashing me a smile. She stepped aside and dropped her carry-on bag and I pulled her into a tight hug. I immediately started crying. “Damnit, Yankee! Don’t start that already!” she ordered. “You can cry later.” “But Peaches...” I protested. “But nothin’. Look at me.” I released her slightly so we could look in each other’s eyes. I fought back the tears and she...

A WellLived Life Book 4 BethanyChapter 12 Truth and Consequences Part II

July-August 1980, Milford, Ohio On Sunday morning, Stephanie and I swam and ate breakfast before she went to church with mom. I had thought about going to church, but really had no interest in doing so. I suspected Mom would have had quite a bit to say about me going to church given my ‘sinful, immoral, and deviant’ lifestyle. It really wasn’t worth the trouble for something I didn’t think was all that important. I made my usual weekly call to Karin and had a nice chat with her. We couldn’t...

July 25, 1986, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee “Have a safe flight, Lyusya Alekseyevna,” I said as she picked up her carry-on to board her flight. “Thank you, Stepa. I will call you on Wednesday with my address. And thank you, Kara Alanovna!” “You’re welcome, Lyudmila!” Kara said. “Kara, may Stepa give me a proper kiss?” Kara smiled and nodded. A WellLived Life 2 Book 1 BethanyChapter 26 Restoration

September 5, 1986, Chicago, Illinois “What are you reading?” Elyse asked, coming into the ‘Indian’ room after I got home from karate. “Red Storm Rising, by Tom Clancy. He wrote the submarine book I read before, The Hunt for RED OCTOBER.” “What’s the book about?” “So far, the Russians are plotting a surprise attack on NATO and creating maskirovka - political cover - for the operation by bombing the Kremlin.” “Why would they do that?” “Muslim terrorists blew up the main Russian oil...

A WellLived Life Book 4 BethanyChapter 53 Spring Break Part I

March 1981, Milford, Ohio On Saturday morning, Stephanie and I swam, then ate breakfast. Dad loaded up the car for the drive to Myrtle Beach just after 9:00am. Mom tried one last time to talk him into making Stephanie go along, but he resisted, saying that he’d already told her she could stay. Mom objected vehemently to Stephanie being around me, but she knew that argument wouldn’t work with Dad. I hadn’t made any plans for Saturday, and Beth and I agreed we’d skip this Sunday’s work because...

January 26, 1987, Chicago, Illinois “Promise me something,” Stephie said as we waited for her flight to be called. “What’s that?” I asked. “Don’t try to come see me near the end. I want you to remember me this way.” “Peaches...” I protested. “I told you I was coming to say a proper goodbye. If it goes like I think it will, I won’t be in any condition to even know that you’re there. Just do this for me, please. Red will call you when it’s time. Now promise me.” I sighed deeply, “I...

September 15, 1986, Chicago, Illinois “When is Bethany moving in?” I asked Stephanie as we ate breakfast with Kara and Jessica. “In a couple of weeks,” she answered. “And you’re really OK with sharing a room with her?” “Yes. Jorge was a bit put out, but I explained everything to him and we’ll work it out. There’s always a guest room if I have an overnight guest!” “True. I really appreciate you doing this,” I said. “I don’t think it’ll be for too long.” “Oh?” “She and Nick. I’ll bet...

February 1981, Milford, Ohio I went and knocked on Stephanie’s door. She called out for me to come in, so I opened the door. She was sitting at her desk doing homework. “Do you have time to talk now, Squirt?” I asked softly. “Always for you, Steve. Always,” she said, getting up from her desk and following me to my room. I shut the door, and we sat side-by-side in the beanbag chairs. I held out my hand and Stephanie took it. I squeezed, and she squeezed back. “I think I’ve figured...

Z Facing the World and Getting PaidChapter 24 Bethany and Hank

I called Bethany. We made an appointment for Monday after 15:00. Both lawyers were in Florida finalizing some kind of contract for an Island firm. Any calls after 15:00 are handled by a service and directed or recorded as needed. I wrote a note to Fran but she arrived from school a few minutes before Bethany arrived. Fran knew the drill. Homework, be sure to eat something healthy and call Rick if you wish. Keep the laptop ready to receive phone calls. I introduced Bethany and Fran. “Fran,...

Becoming BethanyChapter Five

The ear piercing wasn't too painful...of course, the sting of my eyebrow waxing was still relatively fresh in my mind and overrode much of the additional discomfort. Bethany, the Claire's employee who performed the piercing, had a wonderfully gentle bedside manner, and Lisa and I bought each other matching bracelets before thanking her and promising to return for more as soon as my holes had healed. My toes began to ache as we walked through the mall back to Sak's. Just when...
