Synopsis:
Chapter 9a of the FMNaNoWriMo challenge novel "Doc's Complex." A reviewer
asked a question about Chapter 9 "Escape," and thinking about it led to
this extension of that chapter, where a mindless idiot who raped and
killed one of his Girls was made into a beautiful, intelligent, sexy,
buxom woman himself. This chapter can be added to that one and read as a
stand-alone short story. Categories and key words describe only this
chapter. I'm concentrating on writing now, so I won't edit mistakes or
respond to any reviews until December (unless they end up being an entire
new chapter like this one!)

Chapter 9a - The Last Escape
She escaped!
Nancy thought those people were her friends, that they were nice people,
but they had tricked her! That horrible nightmare helmet they had put on
her head had shown her awful things, and now those images were inside her
head with no way to get rid of them.
"'Sure,' I said. 'Sure, Listening to the thoughts and memories of another
of Doc's Girls would be fun, especially one of his agents out in the Real
Worl d!' Then I Listened to her mindtape and it was like I was being raped
and suffocated to death myself! Oh, that poor Girl! Oh, God, it's awful!
How could they be so nice all this time and then do something so horrible
to me?"
She walked through the streets, smiling automatically at the people
walking towards her. She knew she was a Pretty Girl, and that's what
Pretty Girls did for other people so they would not think the world was so
horrible.
"What if they are right? What if it is a horrible world? How could a man
like that walk these streets and do such a horrible thing?"
She liked saying the word "horrible," even though it described a bad
thing. She had learned the word only yesterday, and it was still new to
her. It sounded funny, and it was fun to say. "Horrible horrible
horribubble bubble."
The nonsense sounds lightened her mood. She looked at her reflection as
she passed a row of store windows. At least she looked well-dressed. She
had on a tie-dyed tank top, a brown suede miniskirt, some clunky boots
with four-inch platform soles, and her hair held in place with a headband
that went around her forehead and was tied in back.
She envied the women who passed her who could go braless, but she had
failed the "pencil test" they talked about in Cosmo. When she had lifted a
boob, put a pencil under it, and then let her boob down onto the pencil,
not only did the pencil not fall, but she could not even see the silly
thing!
"Don't worry, Nancy," that nurse had said, "boys won't mind if your boobs
are so big that you have to wear a bra!"
Nancy had chosen to wear a "One Size Fits All" bra as her own form of
feminist protest. Whoever they were selling those to could probably go
braless! Wearing it, her breasts still failed the pencil test, her nipples
still poked out her shirt, and her boobies bounced with every step,
widening the eyes of every man who passed her as she strutted along the
sidewalk.
She thought about the impossible things they had told her to try to get
her to agree to their horrible request.
First, they said she was really the man who raped and killed the girl in
the mindtape, and then they had asked
her to take her place!
How could she be a man? That was clearly impossible. She was a girl
through and through. She was nothing like the horrible man in that
horrible mindtape who did those horrible things to that poor woman!
And then they asked her to take the woman's place! How horrible was that?
Why should she want to get raped and killed in such an awful, horrible
way? What had she ever done to them that they would want her to do such a
thing?
They had talked and talked, but Nancy had seen that someone had dropped a
pencil and the pencil had rolled next to the doorframe and blocked the
door from closing all the way.
"I bet I surprised them when I suddenly jumped up like that and escaped
from that crazy place! I ran out that door like a bunny rabbit!"
She had left the old browand had been a little surprised at the
neighborhood. For some reason she expected cobblestone streets and horses,
like the scene in the mindtape. Instead, it was a modern street with cars
parked along both sides, taxicabs honking along the avenue at the corner,
and the ever-present rush of people purposely walking past her on the
sidewalk.
Having no goal other than to get away, Nancy had walked and walked, but
now she stopped to look around. She had to go to the bathroom. "There's a
bar. I'll go in there."
She did not even have to ask directions. A neon sign at the back had the
word "LADIES" in glowing pinkish-purple letters.
They were waiting for her outside the bar.

Nancy took the mindtape machine's headset off her head. She looked at the
nurse Doc had assigned to be with her that day, and said, "You were right,
Taleesa. That was horrible! I can't believe I was really such a mindless
brute before I came here. What's the next step?"
Before Taleesa could respond, Nancy held up a hand, "No. Don't tell me. I
think I know." She looked up, "Doc? Am I now intelligent enough to take
the place of the woman I killed? Am I ready?"
"YES, NANCY. YOU ARE READY TO TAKE HER PLACE. WHEN YOU NEXT PUT ON THE
HEADSET, TURN THE SWITCH TO LEARN. ALL THE THOUGHTS AND MEMORIES, ALL THE
KNOWLEDGE AND RESPONSES THAT WERE RECORDED FROM HER BRAIN WILL TAKE THE
PLACE OF YOURS. YOU WILL CEASE TO EXIST AND SHE WILL LIVE AGAIN IN YOUR
BODY."
Nancy looked around her bedroom. "Will she live in this room?"
"THIS ROOM WILL CEASE TO EXIST. YOUR BODY IS TIME TEATHERED TO THE PLACE
AND TIME OF THE EVENT. AFTER YOU REMOVE THE HEADSET, I WILL RELEASE THIS
END OF THE TEATHER AND YOU WILL SNAP BACK THROUGH TIME TO A FEW MINUTES
AFTER WE REMOVED HER BODY. YOU WILL LIE DOWN WHERE SHE LAY AND CLOSE YOUR
EYES FOR THE LAST TIME. SHE WILL THEN OPEN HER EYES AND CONTINUE HER LIFE
FROM THE POINT WHERE YOU INTERRUPTED IT."
"One last question, Doc. What was her name?"
"HER NAME WAS EVA."

Eva sat up and could not understand what had just happened. That huge man
had grabbed her and thrown her down, and when she had tried to use her
Mindwarper to make him stop, it could find nothing to warp. "I can't
believe this!" she remembered herself thinking as he climbed onto her, "We
tested it on mice but this ox is less intelligent than a mouse! I have no
defenses that can work! Doc! Help!"
So how had she survived? Her clothes were torn, but she did not even have
a bruise in the places he had smashed his massive knees into her belly to
smash her down to the ground or her breasts where he had squeezed so hard
she had felt her skin pop and seen red stuff oozing between the sausages
he used as fingers. She still could hear the crack of her arm and leg
bones that he snapped to stop her from hitting and kicking him, and could
feel his ham-sized hands covering her mouth and nose so she could not
breathe.
Yet, she now sat here whole, unbroken, uninjured, and unbloodied.
"Doc? Did you heal me somehow?"
"YES. PLEASE CONTINUE YOUR MISSION. IT IS IMPORTANT."
"Yes, sir. Thank you, sir."
As a young man, many years ago, Eva had been an intelligence officer in
the military, and still maintained the same discipline she had learned
when going on missions for Doc.
She found the Mindwarper lying in the straw to her right, and tested it.
Disguised as a camera case, it looked harmless for such a powerful device.
Inside was a monkey's brain telepathically linked to her own so she could
use its special abilities without even opening the case.
After she changed to clean clothes, Eva made her way to the New York City
Office of Vital Records. The people she passed all stared at her, but then
almost instantly forgot they had seen the most beautiful woman in their
lives as the Mindwarper did its job.
It was a matter of seconds to open the lock on a small door in the side of
the building and lock it behind her. Going up the staircase, she did not
encounter another locked door until she came to her goal, a file room on
the third floor. Inside, she found the first birth certificate on her list
in the files.
She was patient and methodical as she carefully, but quickly, used ink
eradicator to remove the original name of the baby from the certificate.
She also removed the X from the box next to "Male" and the year of birth.
An expert forger, she could imitate anyone's handwriting after only a
glance at a sample, and she had a collection of pens with different nibs,
and a whole palette of inks. For someone with her skills it only took a
few seconds to write the new, female name in the space , rand add an X to
the box next to "Female," and record a new birth year that was only
twenty-two years in the past. She recorded the information about the
baby's parents and place of birth in her notebook and re-filed the
modified birth certificate in the cabinet for the correct birth year. The
whole procedure had taken less than a minute.
She looked at the next name and found that birth certificate. There were a
thousand names on her list, but once she knew what to look for, she set up
an assembly line, spreading certificates out over the entire surface of a
table so she could do many at once. She worked quickly and was done by the
time the first employees began trudging in to work.
There had been only one need for the Mindwarper as she worked through the
night. A night watchman saw the light on in the file room, and opened the
door to inquire who she was. He left the room convinced that there was not
a problem with anything in that room and he could safely ignore everything
about it until the next time he came to work.
The next part of her mission required ingenuity, stealth, creativity, and
all her investigative skills. The first hospital on her list had been the
birthplace of over a hundred of the babies. Eva entered and found the
records office. This time she got the office staff to retrieve and help
modify the hospital's copies of the birth records in question, as well as
patient records of the mothers, employee rosters, and made sure that
doctors who had delivered the babies on her list were working on the days
or nights on the birth certificates. She also checked patient records for
changes of address, employee rosters to make sure the doctor who had
delivered a baby on a certain day was recorded as having worked that day.
In several cases, the doctor had retired, and she had to substitute the
name of a younger doctor, and make notes about further changes to the
appropriate birth certificates.
She continued on, visiting hospitals, homes, the Office of Vital Records
again, using the Mindwarper to change memories about when events as
important as a birth to a pair of parents had occurred, making people
think they had raised or grown up with a girl instead of a boy.
Schools were next, and she had a devil of a time tracking the current
locations of teachers who would have educated the people on her list, as
well as the teachers who really had educated them. In a way the teachers
were her most fun challenge. Eva had to make them remember a few unique
things about a girl they had once taught, or remember that it wasn't Bobby
Williams, but Joe Brown who had said something she still remembered, and
not, but Hank Henderson who had done that other memorable thing, and then
that Bobby Williams was not her student at all.
Classmates, neighbors, ballet teachers, cooks, librarians, shop owners,
mechanics, mailmen, handymen, bus drivers, and everyone who others had
seen with any of her charges all remembered the past differently after a
visit from Eva.
She was methodical and thorough, and when she finally returned to Doc, a
thousand men aged 25 to 85 had disappeared from all the records and
memories of the outside world, and the world remembered a thousand more
women aged 21 and 22 years old than it had before she started.

A reviewer asked a question about Chapter 9 "Escape," and thinking about
it led to this extension of that part of the story.

with extra characters or new adventures or situations for the existing
characters, go ahead! The Complex has over 500 Levels, is populated by
millions of beautiful, buxom, sexy, intelligent women (and a few thousand
men who LOOK like beautiful, buxom, sexy, intelligent women,) more than
half of whom are scientists. If there's a science fiction or feminist plot
clich?, you can find it there somewhere! There's even room for mindless
bimbos, as long as there's the suggestion that they won't stay that way.

confusion, make up a new title Like "Doc's Complex - A Different
Adventure." Who knows? If enough people do it, FictionMania may add a new
category!
