Synopsis: A gal named Tish succinctly answers a cry for help from a
sister t-girl in extremis.
Hi Tish,
I auditioned for a part in our company's little theater group. It's a
secret way to climb up in the organization, because the CEO is a big fan
and sometimes takes a part in the plays herself. The play this time was
"My Fair Lady" and I auditioned for the part of Professor Higgins,
although I would have been more than pleased just to get the part of
Colonel Pickering.
Well, when the email came that listed who had been awarded which part, I
was shown as Eliza Doolittle and the CEO was Professor Higgins. I
replied that it must have been a mistake, but the director informed me
that this was her choice and that of the CEO's. It seems those two women
had decided we would do a transgendered production of the musical, at
least as to those two parts. All the rest of the parts would be played
straight. I protested politely, saying I didn't know if I had the range,
but the director said I did.
On the first day of rehearsal, the CEO showed up wearing a man's suit and
asked me why I wasn't wearing a dress. I asked her if she really meant
it. She said she did, because I would need lots of practice to pull off
this role and might as well begin to feel more like a woman.
Here, the CEO said, handing me a shopping bag, "I just happen to have a
dress for you to wear in tonight's read-through." After I came out
wearing the dress to the applause of the entire cast, the CEO sat me down
and let the woman who had volunteered to handle the cast makeup put
mascara, blush and lipstick on me. The CEO then commanded that I come to
the office dressed and made up as a woman for the next 90 days while we
rehearsed. She added that the next afternoon we would both take a sick
day and go to the mall and she would help me get a makeover, have my ears
pierced, and help me select a proper business-woman's wardrobe. She
said
I may never want to go back to my scruffy old man clothes. The director
and two other women begged to come along to watch me model the clothes,
and the CEO agreed. "What's more fun than five girlfriends going
shopping together?" she asked, holding my hand to let everyone know that
my career as a woman started now.
I was mortified. I asked her why they were doing this. She answered
that the reversal would do me and the other men a lot of good, me for my
part in the play and them for a better understanding of what could happen
to a man in our company if he wasn't sensitive to women. That's when I
understood. I had dated a vice-president of the company, a protege of
the CEO, and we had had a bad parting, and this was obviously my
punishment. Oh well, I thought, I probably deserved it.
Tomorrow we shop, Tish. What should I do? I've had resumes out for
months since my relationship fell apart with that female VP, but there
are no jobs open in my industry. Do I keep this job as a woman or become
unemployed like a man?

Hi Miss Doolittle,
I think you should stay in place and start acting and singing lessons
immediately. Work on that Cockney-to-Upper-Class transition as you
transition into a woman at work. If you can pull this off, the CEO and
perhaps your VP former girlfriend will respect you and appreciate your
adaptability and sensitivity. You will have a ball if you adopt a
positive attitude and let your feminine side show.
In your new role as a woman, be sure to become the BFF of the VP and show
her what a sweet lady you can be, convincing her she was wrong about you
and that your gender dysphoria was the real problem. You might end up
with a great lesbian relationship. And girl, if that happens, you'd
better write back and tell me about it!
Failing that, you could meet a nice man, become his bride, and live
happily ever after!
