Steam rose gently from the tub as Joan tested the temperature with a

of blush finished the face. With some deliberation Joan applied a lip
liner just outside her natural lip line and followed it with a kiss-proof
lipstick that matched her manicure. A quick spray of Chanel No 5 and a
shake of her recently treated hair, Joan was almost ready.
With a tap of heels across the room, she shrugged into the laced silk
negligee and checked her image in the mirror one more time. Blowing a
kiss at the image, she stepped out of the room.
The flickering light of the fireplace provided a guide and the low volume
of a television told her where to find her quarry.
Joan's heel taps gave away her approach and she stopped in the entrance

the sofa looked up from her book and smiled at what she saw.

As the movie came to an end, Joan found herself tearing up and she

The movie ended and Mary turned off the TV. With the fire dying down,
