Jeff would spend multiple days dressed as a girl, with his friends
joining him a few times as they tried a new way of understanding him and
their girlfriends. They happily told their parents that they weren't a
bunch of macho jerks with the girls, they wanted to understand them and
the girls liked that they tried to be like them instead of doing it as a
comedy bit. Their fathers weren't happy with it but let them do it once
their mothers started to ask if they were jealous of their sons being
more man than they were.
Stan showed them what to do while Steve added a few bits of advice as
well. It was great fun, with the boys enjoying knowing that they had
done something no other boys would dare to do. It culminated in a happy
showcase at school when the annual powderpuff football game occurred and
they won the top prize for dressing as girls and even got featured in
the local newspaper for it.
The kids in school knew not to bother them about winning the award, Otis
clamped down on all of that and even expelled the final group of kids
who were openly flaunting their parents' pressure over Otis as he
happily told them that they had gone too far. The boys were blamed but
Otis pointed out that they'd done nothing wrong, they enjoyed an annual
tradition that preceded him by decades and it wasn't his or their faults
that their sons were using their parents as an excuse to abuse and bully
other students.
Steve's travels were tough on him but being groomed for the top prize in
the sport was worth it to them as he was someone to look up to, with
wrestlers eyeing him as a reason to continue on despite being not well
known and toiling away for low pay. He was inspiring many people to try
to work harder to get an opportunity to make it, even if he needed
Stan's help to get the job in the first place. Stan refused to be the
one to take the credit, in his eyes Steve earned it long before and
should have been there all along.
Jeff continued to dress at home and eventually made treks outside of
home with the girls. Philip stayed home with his newly won-over friends,
finally breaking through to them as more than just an athlete and
finding things that they shared in common that worked for them. He was
happy to finally have real friends, especially as the boys never
mentioned Steve and when they did it was because he did something cool
on TV that was worth talking about as it was tough to not mention it.
Jeff's treks became more and more daring as the girls went to the mall
or outlet stores. He always kept his libido in check while Mila tried
hard not to let hers get too out of control, but it was tough with the
two seeing one another in just their bras. Jeff had seen her naked
several times and didn't react to that, it took all of his self-control
to not have an obvious reaction but he kept things from getting awkward.
Remy had fun with Mandy as the two bonded more and more. With Mandy
starting to show more of a chest Remy got to experience more motherhood
moments while Mila smiled brightly at Mandy being in an uncomfortable
spot with their mother's instructing her on bras. Jeff happily told Ava
that she was lucky to have had the talk already, especially as Ava
needed it more than anyone else.
The fun lasted until the group were spotted by several boys from their
town loitering at the mall for the day. Jeff tried hard not to react
while Mila prepared a counter-attack to whatever the boys flung towards
them. The boys were shocked to see Jeff there, only realizing it was him
when they realized that there's a girl among them that they couldn't
quite place who seemed to know the girls extremely well.
Jeff was ready for the worst, but seeing Stan standing over them looking
upset at them and ready to go to war to protect the girls and Jeff
caused the cowards to back away. He casually asked them if they're aware
that they'd be on camera and anything that they did would end up causing
them to be arrested as it would constitute a hate crime as they knew who
the target was and what their target's true gender is. It hit them hard,
to which he added, "You might get a slap on the wrist in town, but this
is the city and a huge deal is made about going after someone because of
how they're dressed. It's guaranteed jail, over in Charleston, and
detention until you're 16 then you get shifted over to Warren for adult
prison. It's the big-time for you, no more 'boys will be boys' crap that
your parents got away with."
He had the boys trying hard not to piss their pants, with the girls
walking off while Jeff needed to go to the bathroom to "fix his face"
and calm himself. He knew that he'd end up facing the boys in school on
Monday, they wouldn't leave well enough alone and would enjoy tormenting
him. He hoped that there wasn't any violence, but he feared that he'd
end up fighting a couple of them by the end of the day.
The trip home was somber as Jeff hadn't said a word since the incident.
Stan tried to console him but it wasn't something that he needed. Jeff
went to his room in silence and got undressed then put all of his
clothes and makeup into a box and set it outside of his room.
The message was clear, he wouldn't do it anymore as there was nothing
enjoyable about it after being outed by the boys. Sarah tried to console
him but all he did was tell her that he wasn't a girl and that he would
be a man and couldn't be the girl that he wanted to be anymore. He was
in tears at saying that, it was said with such vitriol that it was
almost demonic.
The next day saw Mila being told that he didn't want to see her anymore.
Ava tried to talk with him but he angrily told her that he wasn't going
to become a girl so she had no idea what was wrong with him and no
matter what he did he was never going to be her sister so she had to
stop trying to make him be a girl like her. It was horribly said, with
Ava crying in her room for hours afterward with Sarah and Eve trying
hard to make her see that it wasn't the real Jeff talking: it was fear
of the boys.
Monday was a disaster for Jeff as the boys went in on him immediately.
He didn't lie and confess that it was him and he dressed a lot as a girl
and was how he met his grandfather. He tried hard to keep things
together but failed badly when the names started flinging, he was
humiliated and his deepest, darkest secret was exposed for all to see
with nobody trying to defend him.
Mila was still upset at him which only made things worse. He refused to
talk with her leading to more teasing by the boys. Finally, during
lunch, it became physical for all of boys as they went after him with
two cornering him while four more kept others away from helping him.
He was struck from behind and flung into a wall, collapsing onto the
floor in pain as the boy laughed at him. Jeff pulled himself together
and defended himself, beating one senseless while battling the second as
he tried to get Jeff off of him. He was swift, letting his instincts
takeover as he used all of the tricks he learned from Stan and a few
that Steve had taught him that he learned from fellow wrestlers.
Jeff was bruised, bloody, and panting while the two boys were
unconscious on the floor. The two boys' friends were challenged by Jeff
but tried to run off, but weren't able to go anywhere as Otis stopped
the boys in their tracks and walked them over to where Jeff was slumped
on the ground. Otis was at a loss for words, Jeff mumbled that he was
ready for expulsion- he deserved to be gone from school.
Otis led him and the four boys away while the school nurse called for an
ambulance for the boys on the floor. The vice principal would handle the
boys while Otis handled Jeff and his situation. Jeff was in a daze and
going through the motions as they walked ot the office and was barely
able to speak, all he said was, "I deserve to be expelled," to which
Otis tried hard to tell him that he only defended himself from the boys
but fell on deaf ears.
Jeff was sent home for a month with instructions to talk with a
psychologist about what happened. Otis then dealt with the boys and told
their parents that the two who were sent to the hospital were expelled
as they targeted Jeff, moved him away from everyone else, assaulted him,
then had their assault turned against them when Jeff rallied to protect
himself. There was no argument, he had seen them grab Jeff as well as
throw the first punches all while spouting homophobic slurs.
He was threatened but Otis stood his ground and countered that each had
multiple previous assaults on other students and were warned against
such behavior. Jeff was being sent home for a month due to the need to
be away from the school but he wasn't being punished: it was mental
health reasons that their sons had caused and would return with open
arms. Their sons had chosen to ignore the warnings that he had given
them multiple times before, they would pay the final price- expulsion
from school.
The boys' parents tried to press charges but saw them turned around on
them by the ADA as they took a strong stance against bullying and had
more than enough evidence to show that it was a long term issue with the
boys. They were forced to accept plea bargains that sentenced them to
four years in the state's youth camp in Charleston with the boys
enduring a lasting legacy as they would have to work hard for a judge to
expunge their records when they were released. Jeff had not caused them
to act like savages for years before they went after him, all he did was
spark them to be open about their actions with none of their friends or
families able to brush the charges aside this time due to the severity
of it.
Jeff went home in silence and holed-up in his room, crying heavily and
feeling like he was going to be a freak for the rest of his life because
he couldn't control himself. He refused to eat or see anyone else, Sarah
had to check on him to ensure that he didn't do anything stupid but he
was simply depressed and exhausted. It was tough to see him that way, it
was even worse than when he found out that Jimmy had died as people that
he cared about were suffering due to it.
Steve volunteered to take Jeff with him on his next trip, hoping that
the two could talk things out and it would ease Jeff's issues before he
exploded worse next time. He got clearance from GCW to bring him along
with the ladies happy to help him as well as use him to help them with
makeup and clothing and keeping an eye on him for Steve while he did his
interviews and had his matches in the ring. Jeff was also going to do
his schoolwork while away, with the ladies happily acting on Sarah's
behalf to ensure that he did it all and didn't slack off because he
wasn't in school.
Ava tried hard to get Jeff to talk with her, but he wouldn't talk to her
and forced Eve to get her to back away from him. He needed space, he
wasn't upset at her but his words still hurt her deeply making her want
to apologize even though she didn't need to. He was trying hard to be
his own person, that meant that he had to isolate himself from everyone
and deal with his issues in a way that helped him most.
Taylor Turner took an interest in Jeff and talked with him before the
GCW shows. He tried to avoid talking with her but something in her
caused him to open up to her. He hated that she could get him to do
that, but it was more of the mom in her working and helping to get him
to relax and trust her.
She softly told him, "It's not something to be ashamed of. It's
addictive, you want to be someone else as it's tough to be the real you.
You're lucky, it's not something that you have to be. I know exactly
what's going on in you, I went through it myself. I didn't accept who I
was until I was older, but I knew that I wasn't the same as others. You
aren't transgender, but you still have a female side. You're still you,
but you have a side of you that others don't understand. You're Jeff
Cole, not Jane or Janice Cole. Be the girl that you can be, be you.
Don't let others dictate your life, be your own man even if he has a
girlish side to him. Be Jeff Cole, be the man that your parents wanted
you to be. Be your true self. Be Jeff."
He took her words to heart but was still closed off from others. Steve
was told to give him space and let him think things out as they were
tough to understand and even tougher to overcome. Jeff needed to be
himself, but so many others were telling him what to be that he didn't
know who he was anymore.
The ladies had him working hard on his schoolwork then helping with
their outfits and makeup. He was in tears as he did the makeup, with
Taylor having to hold off the ladies from asking about it. He did his
job and watched the ladies' kids for them, changing diapers then feeding
them their dinner before they went to bed for the night in his arms much
to the ladies' enjoyment.
After a week of being on the road with Steve Jeff started to relax, with
Steve getting him to open up to him about what was happening. He
confessed that he hated how he was and wished that he didn't feel a deep
urge to be a girl. Steve saw the pain in his eyes and offered a somber,
"You're fighting the wrong fight, you should embrace it and not be
afraid of it anymore. So what if you're tormented by the boys, they're
only showing that they're idiots who are going to upset the girls if
they keep at it. You're a rare person: someone who understands women and
who wants to experience being a woman part of the time while being a man
the rest of the time. It's hard to be a woman, you are learning it
firsthand."
He then asked what he was really afraid of. Jeff shed a tear and
explained, "I feel like I'm losing myself if I continue being a girl.
The more I'm in female clothes, the less I want to return to being a
boy. I'm a girl more than I'm a boy, I can't help but be a girl. I'm
trying hard to fight it, but it won't stop. I need to be a girl, I keep
trying to be a boy but I'm becoming more and more of a girl. It hurts to
fight it, I'm not sure what I am anymore. I don't know if it's the
clothes or if it's really me. I just don't know!"
Steve hugged him deeply and let him cry himself out. When Jeff stopped
sobbing, Steve confessed, "I'll talk with your mother about this. It's
taking a toll on you in a way that shouldn't be happening. You're not
the same as you were when you were first evaluated, maybe you might have
more issues than just a desire to crossdress. I hate to admit it, but
maybe you're actually a girl inside and are coming to terms with it
after meeting Ava. I'll talk with Taylor about this, she's the best to
know how to go forward."
Steve called Sarah and asked her what he should do. Sarah sighed and
told him, "Talk with Taylor. If it's as bad as you think I'll support
him. I don't want to lose my little boy, but I don't want him to feel
like he has to be something that he isn't. He needs professional help. I
don't care if he might be a girl, I just want my child to be happy
again. He needs to do what he has to do, I'm certain that it's for the
best if it turns out that he's a girl. Thank you for being the father
that he needs, even if you're in over your head with this. Ava might
have given you experience, but Jeff is a different situation
altogether."
Jeff was asleep in bed with clutching his nightie, Steve felt for him
and vowed to help him any way that he could. He went to bed and hugged
Jeff, with Jeff saying an unintentional, "Thanks, daddy" to Steve. It
was saddening, he clearly missed Jimmy but wasn't able to vocalize what
he was feeling to anyone.
The next morning saw Taylor talking with Steve and telling him to call a
local doctor so that he could get Jeff help. He saw the name and asked
if it was a joke, Taylor warmly told him, "It's no joke. She's a person
that we trust to help Jeff and is discrete. He needs help, she can give
him it. She's also the one I think is best suited to help as it's her
specialty. He needs a pro, she's about as good as you'll get."
Steve called the number and got an immediate appointment for Jeff. Jeff
didn't want to go, but seeing a pained look in Steve's eyes made him
realize that it was going to be important. He went, but told Steve that
he didn't like seeing doctors only to be told that there wasn't anything
wrong with him.
The doctor greeted them warmly. Dr. Jaimie Samuels asked what was the
issue then led Jeff through his mind and what was really going on. He
tried to deflect the questions but Jaimie was insistent.
Jeff told her, "I've fought the feelings for months, ever since I found
Grandpa's cabin and his clothes. I though that it was just doing
something to take my mind off of the boys going after me but it started
to feel different. I'm able to dress as a girl but it's getting stronger
and stronger. I tried to be a boy for my mom but the more I'm dressed
the more I'm feeling like I can't go back to being a boy. I love Mila,
but it's getting to the point that I can't be the boy that she wants me
to be. I'm trying to be a normal boy, but I don't know what normal is.
I'm acting more like a boy than myself. I can't help but be a girl when
I'm dressed, I can't help but feel like a girl when I'm not. I don't
know when the feelings started but it got to the point that it was
overwhelming. I was a girl, I acted like a boy. I don't know why I'm
doing it as it's never happened before. I just can't take it anymore, I
want to be normal but I can't be!"
She asked what changed in him. He shed a tear and confessed, "Ava
changed. Meeting her and having to be her protector. Being a girl
parttime and knowing that boys can become girls in body to fit what
their minds are. I wanted to be her big brother but I can't do it
anymore. I needed to be her big sister, I needed to be a girl like her.
I needed to be her. But I can't. I can't be a girl. I can't be what I'm
not. I'm not a boy, I'm a girl. My mind keeps telling me that I'm really
a girl even if I don't want it to. I'm a freak. I'm not normal. I need
to be normal, but normal isn't normal to others."
He was weeping now. Jaimie asked when he first started to truly feel
like a girl. He cried and explained to her, "Seven years ago. I told dad
that I want to be a girl and be his daughter. I didn't know that he was
OK with it, but I never told mom. I didn't act on that for four years.
He caught me dressed as a girl and just ignored it but he seemed happy
that I was doing it and said that I looked happy. It's really why he got
me clothes in the first place, it was to allow me to see if I was really
his daughter or if I was just crossdressing. I dressed but was too
afraid to tell him that I wanted to do it all of the time and be a girl.
When he died I couldn't risk grandma getting me so I suppressed the
feelings. I never told mom about it. When I'd started again I didn't
tell her because I didn't want grandpa to kick us out. When I met Ava I
thought if I could dress as a girl and do things with her that it'd be
enough to satisfy my feelings. But it wasn't. I tried to be normal, I'd
be a boy and loved learning to box, play video games, go camping with
Philip. But whenever I was with Ava and Mila I couldn't fight the urge
to be a girl. I couldn't stop thinking that it's who I am. It's what I
need to be. But I couldn't do it, I had to be Ava's big brother. I had
to be Philip's big brother. I had to be a boy. When we'd go around the
property as a girl it felt good. When we went shopping as a girl I was
thrilled and couldn't help but feel like I was truly a girl. Then the
boys found us. My world is over now. I can't be normal ever again.
Everyone knows my darkest secret. Nobody will leave me alone now, I'm
marked for life. I'm a freak."
Jaimie asked him if he was able to be a girl fulltime would he do it. He
looked off into space and tried to come up with an excuse, then finally
told her, "I'd love nothing more. I love being a girl. I can't be a boy
anymore, I'm outed. I want to be me, but I don't want to hurt anyone
else. I want to be a girl, I'm a girl. I'm a girl! I need to be a girl!"
He broke down again, with Jaimie softly telling him, "I think you need
more sessions. I'm asking you to visit my aunt in Boston for a second
opinion then talk with your family about this. It's a major decision for
you to make, it's your body and mind at risk here. You are borderline in
my expert opinion. You are leaning heavily to the female side but it's
just so sudden. You were evaluated by a colleague and didn't show signs
of being a girl then. I think you don't fully grasp who you are and what
you are. I need you to think long and hard about what will happen to
you, what transitioning entails, what it'll do to you. I know that your
family supports you, your cousin proves that. You need to think about
what is best for you, Jeff Cole, and not your family. You need to know
for sure that you are a girl. You might actually be gender-fluid, you
might be a boy who heavily crossdresses. We don't know for sure, you
need time."
He softly mumbled, "I'm a girl. I need to be a girl. I hate being Jeff,
I have to be Jennifer. She's me. She is the girl that I am. She's the
real person. She's the one that mom gave birth to. It's what dad called
me when he saw the real me. It's what I see in the mirror. I'm Jennifer
Cole, not Jeffry Cole. I have called myself Jennifer for years at home
before I hid who I was from mom and grandma. I'm Jennifer!"
He was crying again, with Jaimie softly telling the newly dubbed
Jennifer, "This is exactly why I need you to talk with my aunt Alison.
Jennifer was always there, but you never let anyone else know. Your
father might have suspected but you didn't fully come out and tell him.
If she's truly who you are, then you need be her. It's a major step for
you, a name and seeing yourself as a girl even when a boy is a sign that
she was always there and Jeff was just the facade. You're Jennifer,
you're you."
Jennifer was in tears as she was led out. Steve was brought in and told,
"Keep a close eye on her. Yes, I said her. She's a girl, this is getting
serious to the point that I'm afraid that she'll do something horrible.
I was told some of her story, there's a lot more to it but piecing
together things is making it clear that a little girl was born 13 years
ago and not a boy. You have a niece instead of a nephew. Encourage her
to dress as her true self, especially out in public. The more she gets
comfortable being herself, the easier it will be to transition. She's in
desperate need of transition, she suppressed it for far too long."
He tried to ask what caused all of it coming out. Jaimie sighed and
explained, "It was a series of events that happened within a short
period of time. It was building for weeks but finally came out when in
the mall with her friends. She was outed, her inner girl wanted to be
released for good but the external boy is still in fear. He's
fracturing, but she needs to talk with people who support her. My aunt
will help, I'll confirm an appointment for when she returns home. It's
tough on her, but it's for the best that she be her true self. Trying to
fight it for much longer will only lead to her doing something
horrible."
Steve was led out and hugged Jennifer tightly. In tears, he asked her
true name. Jennifer softly told him which led to Steve happily telling
her, "It's the name your dad picked out for his daughter. He never told
your mom that, which is why your sister is named Jaimie. I hope that she
doesn't mind not having the name your dad really wanted, but it's still
a name that meant something to him."
Jaimie happily told him, "He'd be happy that it was saved for his little
girl. I'm glad that he thought so highly of me to name your niece after
me. Uncle Quentin is a flatterer but it's still nice to know that I'm
having an impact on others even a decade and a half after I left the
Kansas City area."
Steve led Jennifer out with Jaimie smiling at Jennifer feeling better
about Steve not reacting badly to it being known that she's a girl
inside. She contacted Alison Eliza to tell her to expect a phone call
from a familiar number but didn't say anything else. Alison sighed and
told her that she'd be discrete but that it was going to be tough on
Jennifer for a while even without being told who would call.
Steve called Alison about the appointment and confirmed a meeting in
three days. Jennifer was told she had to be herself and not try to
appease Steve as she needed peace of mind and if being Jennifer was it
then she should continue doing so. Jennifer was in tears and thanked
her, Steve was told to ensure that she had proper clothes and wasn't
kept away from people: she had to be treated as she presented, a girl.
Taylor waited until the call was over and asked what happened. Jennifer
was in tears which led Taylor to tell her that it was going to get
better for her and all she needed was to be herself without anyone in
the family or town telling her what to do or how to act. Jennifer
thanked her, Taylor softly told her, "I'm a doctor so I had to get you
help and ensure that you were doing well. I know what you're feeling, I
had to hide my inner side for years before I was outed. You have what I
didn't have: full support. It was the help of my grandparents, aunts,
and uncle that enabled me to be myself. You have that as well, I know
that your grandfather will love you and your mom will be happy to have
two daughters. Your aunt is a nice woman who knows how to treat kids
well without spoiling them, and your uncle is just a big softy with
ladies. You might have an issue with your girlfriend, but you might be
shocked with her: she could be your true love and meant to be with you,
like mine is."
Jennifer thanked her for understanding. Taylor sighed and confessed to
her, "I was diagnosed at 13 just like you. She was my girlfriend before
I was diagnosed, I had loved dressing for years and was sent to live
with my maternal grandparents because of it. My girlfriend supported me
throughout my life and is the driving force for my transition. She loves
me deeply, she fell in love with me as a person so labels on our
marriage don't apply. She liked guys before she met me, then she loved
me, then supported me as a closeted transgender person. She loves me for
me, despite squabbles she always loves me. Maybe your girlfriend will
just want to be friends, but she'll support you. She already supports
your cousin, I know that people like that are hard to find. She's your
friend first, so she'll love you regardless."
Jennifer went into the ladies' dressing room and helped them. After a
half hour of fighting and nearly in tears, she went over to a set of
clothes in her size and put them on. She sat in front of a mirror and
put her hair into a feminine style then applied makeup, finalizing her
look.
She tried hard to not cry as the girl in her was on full display. The
ladies were speechless, Taylor told a couple that they were seeing the
toll that being transgender takes on someone. She sighed and told all of
them, "She was diagnosed today. She lost her battle with being a girl,
she can't suppress it anymore."
Jennifer got supportive hugs from several of the ladies while their kids
tried to hone in on the affection that she was receiving. She felt
better hugging them, with her treating them like her own kids for a bit
as they got her to calm herself. She felt the best she had felt in a
while, she felt like a real girl now.
The kids fell asleep in her arms leading her to do the same. It was
sweet, with their mothers happy to be able to enjoy some time to
themselves while Jennifer held the kids. When she did wake, she was
given deep hugs and kisses from the ladies and told to stop trying to
act like she wasn't her true self now.
In the hotel room Steve set out some clothes for her. Jennifer tried to
ask where they came from, all he did was tell her, "Vince Turner sent
them for you. He's concerned for you after he heard that you had to go
see Dr. Samuels. He is trying to help you, it's his way of doing
something without doing it."
She started to change and felt relief in her nightgown. Steve knew to
get her pink and purple, with the trim matching some of her clothes at
home. She felt happy in her clothing, especially as it felt like she was
going to be alright now that someone important to the family wanted her
to be herself.
The two flew east the next morning, with Sarah meeting them at the
airport for the trip to see Dr. Eliza at her office. Sarah asked about
the clothes, Steve sighed and admitted, "Some things that Vince sent for
her. He knows as well as anyone about kids with her issues, his
granddaughter and great-granddaughter are both transgender. You didn't
know about Taylor's daughter, she doesn't like to advertise that fact."
She hugged Jennifer and kissed her cheek, with Jennifer in tears over
Sarah not reacting to hearing the word 'her'. She looked over Jennifer
and shed a tear, asking if she really needed to be a girl or if it was
another phase. Jennifer looked away in shame and somberly told her,
"It's how I've felt for a long time. I didn't want to say anything to
you, I didn't want you to be upset at me. I thought that I could fight
the feelings but the more I dressed the more I felt right. I don't like
being a boy, I can't be a boy."
She was in tears ago so Steve led them to their cars to drive to Dr.
Eliza's office. Sarah kept looking at her daughter and feeling upset
over Jennifer's feelings being suppressed because of all of the drama in
her life so far. She could have talked with Sarah and gotten help
sooner, but with Jimmy's death and the shocking news that she was
pregnant with Jaimie causing all of the focus to be on the family she
had to keep things to herself and try to find another outlet for her
issues.
At the office, Sarah endured questioning for Dr. Eliza while Jennifer
waited. When Dr. Eliza was done she moved on to questioning Jennifer
about her issues. She read over the notes from the session up in Bangor
and was surprised that she had managed to not get clocked by the doctor
up there.
Jennifer looked down at her feet and confessed to Dr. Eliza, "I read
online what kind of questions that I would be asked and prepared for the
test. He didn't go in-depth, he asked some superficial questions to
gauge my feelings. I faked it. I lied about my life. I didn't want to
tell mom because I didn't want us to end up in trouble. I didn't know
about Ava, I didn't want to remember dad and what he said to me. I'm a
girl, I have always felt like a girl. But I couldn't tell the doctor
that. I lied. I tried to be what I wasn't. I'm a girl, I hid the truth
until I couldn't hide it anymore. I can't live as a boy anymore. I can't
lie. I'm a girl. I can't go back. I won't go back. I need to be a girl.
I need to be me. I need to be Jennifer. I am a girl. I hate being a boy.
I can't be a boy. I need to be a girl."
She broke down in tears, weeping as she tried to form words. Dr. Eliza
read Jaimie's notes and asked if she had ever actually acted like a boy.
Sarah sighed and explained, "Jeff would do anything that boys in the
neighborhood would do: chase animals, climb trees in the park, fight,
throw rocks at cars. When he was at home he was quiet, when he wasn't
helping me with his sister he was in his room alone. I tried to get him
to befriend our neighbors but they always had issues. Before Jimmy died
Jeff tended to be around towards the girls and he always played with
them whenever he had a choice. The girls weren't too good to him, but he
tried out anything that they asked of him. I don't know if it's because
he really wanted to be one or empathized with a lot of the stuff that
they did, but he'd always be with the girls."
She gasped and confessed, "When he was seven he told me that he was a
girl and wanted to be one when he was older. I never took much notice of
it, but he was wearing a dress and playing with the girls in his class
at the time. They called him a girl and said Jennifer was too good to be
a boy. I'm sorry, Jennifer! I should have remembered that! It was your
way of telling me and I completely missed it. You were the girl that you
are now back then, you tried to tell me and I didn't listen. I'm sorry,
honey. I'm sorry that I caused you so much pain. You shouldn't have had
to live as you did, you deserved to be your true self."
Jennifer hugged Sarah and cried into her shoulder. Sarah softly asked if
she could transition as she did not want Jennifer to suffer any longer.
Jennifer was a girl in her eyes, and had been for years.
Dr. Eliza shook her head and softly explained, "I'm not fully convinced
that she is transgender. She lied before to a qualified psychiatrist, I
can't confirm that she is because I'm not convinced yet myself. She is
in need of treatment, I suggest a long talk with a grief counselor about
her father as it could be tied to his death and old memories being
brought back to her. She needs to figure things out herself, it's just a
bit too sudden for my tastes especially as it's linked with an event
that's traumatic to her. I've seen girls and boys who do drastic things
after traumatic events, she's the victim of a traumatic event and this
may just be a reaction to it. I'll talk with her in a few days."
Turning to Jennifer, she declared, "Please don't try to harm yourself
because I didn't confirm what my colleague Dr. Samuels believed. I have
to go by the rules, I need more appointments to confirm if you are a
girl or if you are just confused. You are you, but who you are might not
be a girl. Don't try to get a diagnosis quicker by harming your body, I
know from experience that it won't help. I have had a few patients who
harmed themselves only to regret their actions later, including an
eight-year-old girl."
Steve somberly told Jennifer, "She castrated herself because of what
someone told her. She wasn't able to be a girl and was told that she had
to prove herself. So she did, hurting herself badly for it."
Dr. Eliza shook her head and countered, "She just came out but had been
leaning that way for years. It's a horrible event that happened to
people that I'm close to, she chose mutilation over living as a boy.
It's true that she was forced into it, but what's not true is that she
wasn't able to be a girl: she declared that she was transgender and was
in transition when she was forced to do the unthinkable. It backfired.
She came out of it stronger than ever even if she lost the chance to be
a mother through her own semen. It's not a big deal to her because she
has an identical twin brother who fulfills that role by default."
Steve apologized, while Jennifer softly told Dr. Eliza, "I won't do
anything to myself. I don't want mom to be in trouble because I couldn't
wait. I have waited long enough to be a girl, I can wait longer. I just
want to be myself, I just want to be a girl out in the open. If it means
that I have to wait, then I will."
Dr. Eliza smiled and added, "That was what I needed to hear. You needed
to admit it to yourself that you are able to be yourself without hurting
yourself. You are transgender, you are a girl. You are going to be a
girl from now on. You are Jennifer Cole, daughter of Sarah and James
Cole."
Jennifer tearfully hugged her and was led out by Steve. Dr. Eliza
somberly told Sarah, "Keep an eye on her. She is still struggling, but
the worst is over. She knows the consequences, she'll abide by my rules
or she won't be able to be a girl. She's stronger than she believes,
eight years is a long time to hide the person inside of you from the
world. She's going to get better, just go easy on the femininity."
The drive north was mostly in silence as Jennifer finished homework.
Sarah saw a change in Jennifer, as if a switch had been thrown in her
mind. She wasn't the same Jeff that was either dressing, calling Mila,
or trying hard to workout with the boys. She seemed almost tranquil,
content with life now.
When they arrived home, she had Jennifer go rest. Ava asked what was
going on, Sarah sighed and told her, "Jeff didn't improve while with
your dad He talked with a doctor in California and admitted to us that
he isn't Jeff: he is Jennifer. She hid herself from all of us for years,
she tried to be a boy but seeing you and enjoying being accepted as a
girl was too much for her. She's going to be a girl from now on, she
needs to transition for her own sake."
Ava went upstairs and hugged Jennifer. She tearfully apologized for
making her feel bad about herself. Jennifer tearfully hugged her back,
needing Ava's acceptance more than anything.
When she composed herself, Jennifer softly told Ava, "I couldn't lie
anymore. I'm not a boy, I tried to be because of mom and because of
grandma. I couldn't tell mom after dad died and we had to move. I'm a
girl, I have always been one. I hate lying about being a boy, I'm not a
boy. I'm a girl."
Ava kissed her cheek and apologetically told her, "You don't have to
fight it anymore, you're a girl and I am proud that you are my cousin.
We're girls, nobody can say that we aren't. Please don't hurt yourself
because you feel like you're following me, I didn't accept that I was a
girl until I was nine- you did it at five. I'm happy that you are going
to be yourself, you deserve to be yourself."
Philip sought them out and asked what the crying was about. Jennifer
tearfully told him, "I'm a girl like Ava. I can't be a boy anymore, I
never was. I don't want to go back to being a boy."
Philip asked if she was lying, Ava shook her head and added, "It was
bad. Dad called Aunt Sarah to tell her that she needed appointments with
psychiatrists to get evaluated. She was, and got confirmation."
He hugged Jennifer and moved on, with Jaimie rushing in to hug Jennifer
and asking if she was going to be her sister from now on. Jennifer
happily told her, "I'm your big sister and will always be your big
sister. I'm not a boy, I just thought that I was. I'm like Ava, I have a
wiener but I'm a girl."
The three girls hugged and stayed together until dinner. After eating,
Jennifer called Mila to tell her the bad news: she wasn't going to be
her boyfriend anymore. Mila demanded to know why, through heavy tears
Jennifer told her, "I'm transgender like Ava. I can't lie anymore, you
deserve a real boyfriend. I'm a girl and need to be one, I can't handle
being a boy anymore. I can't go through puberty, I have to be a girl and
need to do it for my own sake. I love you, but I'm not your boyfriend."
Mila was in tears and needed Remy and Mandy's hugs. Mila softly mumbled,
"I love you too, even if I have to have a girlfriend. I love you for
you, I want you in my life. I need you as my girlfriend, I need my girl.
I love the person. If you have to be a girl then I'll love that girl. Be
my girlfriend, please?"
Jennifer asked for time, which Mila reluctantly agreed to. Mila was in
tears throughout the night, but it was a strong sign that she was
choosing love over gender and would happily be a lesbian for Jennifer if
it meant that the two would be together. When Jennifer finally called
her back, she told Mila, "I can't be anything but your girlfriend. If
you love me, then I'll be your girlfriend. I just want to be with you,
I'm in love with you. We're 13, but I know that I love you. Please, love
me back."
Mila asked to see her the next day. Mila spent a lot of time overnight
thinking and trying to do some of the things that she was a little too
young for in her mother's eyes. When Remy saw her in the morning she
told her mother, "I tried to find reasons not to stay with Jeff or
whatever her name is now. I kept at it trying picturing her as a girl
and the more I thought of her, the more I saw that she was the perfect
girl for me. I tried to see a boy who would be my ideal boy but it
always came back to her. I tried looking at porn online but it was
always Jeff the girl that I saw and not the guy. I tried looking at
lesbian porn and again all I saw was me and Jeff the girl. I'm sorry,
mom- but I can't leave her. I love her. I guess that it means that I'm a
lesbian, then fine: I'm a lesbian. I love her, I love Jeff the girl. I
need to be with her."
Mandy hugged Mila while Remy told her, "She needs your support. If you
two are meant to be then it's meant to be. You're 13, you might outgrow
each other and find your significant other. She might find a girl, you
might find a boy. But the fact that you only saw her and tried to think
of others yet came back to her means that she's the one for you. She's
your love, even if she's meant only to be your friend."
Otis kept well away from the drama but hugged Mila to show that he was
alright with her. He tried to come up with something to say but no words
came out. It meant more to her that he wanted to help her and wanted to
tell her that she was going to be alright than any words could do.
The four drove over to the Cole home and immediately saw Mila rushing
for Jennifer. Otis was at a loss for words as he saw Jennifer, with Remy
telling her, "You look beautiful, sweetie. Why don't you two go upstairs
to talk while we talk down here. We'll be here when you're ready."
Upstairs, Mila kissed Jennifer deeply. She asked what her new name was
then hearing it she smiled and told her, "You look like a Jennifer. It
fits you, it's for a girl who's a best friend and you listen to."
She asked her about the clothes as she hadn't seen them before. Jennifer
blushed and told her about all of the things that she had done causing
Mila to happily tell her, "You're a natural mother. I can't wait to be
one with you, you'll make our kids so happy."
She kissed Jennifer again, but stopped as Jennifer started to cry again.
Jennifer asked her if she really is going to stay with her, Mila angrily
told her, "I can't picture myself with anyone else! I love you. I love
the person, not the label. I love Jennifer Cole, even if she was born as
Jeffry Cole. I love the person, I might have crushes on guys but I'm
devoted to you. I love you. I need to be with you. You won over my hear
a long time ago, just by being you. You're a great person, I fell in
love with the person. I love Jennifer Cole and want to one day be Mrs.
Mila Cole."
The two went downstairs and saw Remy hugging Jennifer with Mila telling
her parents, "I'm staying as her girlfriend. I love Jennifer no matter
what anyone says. I need to be her girlfriend, I don't care if I'm seen
as a lesbian or worse. She's my girlfriend and I hope to one day be her
wife."
Everyone looked to Otis who shook his head at hearing that. He firmly
told her, "You're too young for a fiance but I understand why you're
standing by her as a girlfriend. You love her, but it's way too early to
be thinking about marriage. She just started as a girl, you could find
yourself wanting a boyfriend or another girl. You love her, but love
comes in other forms. We'll support you regardless, but you need to know
that it's a long time off from becoming wife and wife."
Turning to school, Otis asked if Jennifer had been fully diagnosed.
Sarah nodded while Steve added, "It was confirmed twice: once in
California and once in Boston. Both doctors know one another so it was a
simple test to see if it was just a cry for attention, if she was just
confused about herself since it was just so sudden, or if she was
serious. She's serious, it's bad and she needs to be allowed to
transition fully."
Otis just nodded and announced, "As she has the right paperwork
supporting her transition my hands are tied. Jennifer, you are going to
be allowed to go to school without restrictions but discretion is asked
of you. As you and Mila are dating a bit more is asked as I don't want
to expel anyone else because they can't stop themselves from breaking
the rules and trying to harm the two of you.'
Jennifer asked if she could start hormones to become a girl, Sarah
sighed heavily and explained to her, "I have to talk with your doctor
about this. It's a huge step, he has to be onboard. If he isn't then
we'll have to move you to another doctor. It's not like you can just
begin, it takes time."
Eve added, "You have support, you just have to have a doctor who'll
agree. Ava's doctor will see you, it helps that you're known already.
She'll ensure that you're fit to take the hormones soon."
Eve called and got Jennifer an appointment. Philip was concerned that
he'd be next to fall into the trap of being a girl so Steve had to tell
him, "You aren't one. You'd know already if you were, and there's not a
single thing about you that is girly. You hate dressing as a girl, you
only did it once and didn't like it. I know you better than you let on,
you're too masculine to be anything but our son."
Philip told them that the kids in school would say that he was going to
be forced to be a girl. Steve had a big grin and shot back, "Let them
say that. Let them show that they're jerks to the world. They can talk
trash, but they can't back it up. Take the high road, don't give in to
them. They thrive on making kids get upset and retaliating against them.
You're better than them, you have real friends. If your friends do the
unthinkable and abandon you then they show that they aren't friends at
all. You'll find better ones, I know that you'll find them. You'll see
that there's people out there who are true friends."
The next day saw Eve and Sarah taking Jennifer for an examination then
getting told by her doctor that he wouldn't sign off on transition as he
didn't believe that she actually was transgender. When asked if it was
his opinion or if he actually believed that she wasn't he hesitated
which showed that he actually didn't know and was only acting on
emotion. He reiterated his point, which upset Sarah.
Eve happily asked, "Let me guess: you were pressured by others to refuse
to offer care to a patient who's presenting as female. This pressure
comes from people donating money to this clinic and whose family is
impacted by the actions of my niece- or rather, the actions against her.
This isn't your medical view, it's the words of others against this
clinic. Words that we'll ensure are ignored in the future."
They left, with Stan happily calling a lawyer to bring about a lawsuit
against the clinic for refusing care to Jennifer while getting the state
involved to force the benefactors away. Jennifer went to Ava's doctor
and was given a simple exam then told that as she had supporting
paperwork she would be free to start hormones immediately. She was
cautioned about the impact, with her nodding and crying all along.
The first dose was administered a half hour later, with a prescription
given for the pills. She would have an implant put in six months later,
but until then she'd have to endure, "Slumming it" with her pills. She
was happy to hear that, especially as she'd get her hormones either way.
She slept soundly that night, with Steve kissing her goodbye as he flew
off for another weekend. He did tell her that he'd update Taylor and the
others on her situation, with them happy to know that she was a girl
inside and out even if she was just starting out. Taylor held off asking
him until that trip just so he was able to focus on her, but the doctor
in her wouldn't let him not tell her eventually.
She was nervous the next morning and needed Ava to help her dress.
Philip saw her outfit and blushed as she looked so different, but Ava
happily told him that it was false breasts and a little makeup. He ran
off to avoid his reaction, she really looked pretty and he hated
thinking of her that way- as a pretty girl!
Downstairs she was hugged by Stan and Sarah and led to the car. She was
nervous, but steeled herself as she needed to show strength to counter
the idiots who'd make remarks about her. She walked out in a daze, with
Ava having to move her along before the other kids said something that
set her off.
Otis greeted them and hugged Jennifer, then told her teacher that she
was transitioning after a long talk with several psychiatrists and
doctors. Her teacher asked if it was legalized then accepted that his
hands were tied and told her the rules that he expected of her. Otis
added that she was still dating Mila and as there was no excuse for
bigotry any attempts to separate them and segregate them was
unacceptable.
When the rest of the class entered, Jennifer was introduced by their
teacher who firmly reiterated all of the rules about treatment of
people. He then explained that multiple kids had been expelled already
for violating those rules so they knew not to break them. Finally, he
announced, "Before you get it into your heads that Mila is free game-
don't try it. She's still dating Jennifer and as such is off the market.
She is fully aware of how that makes her appear, but as I know from my
own marriage love takes many forms. If my family had their way, my wife
would be shipped off to her home country of Nigeria tomorrow."
That caused some of the kids to gasp, he happily told them, "No, I'm not
gay. Your parents are idiots for starting those rumors. Just because my
wife refuses to go to school functions does not mean that I don't have a
wife nor does it make me secretly gay. She prefers to stay at home with
our children and tend to our gardens: being a former farm, it's a lot of
work. She does it because it reminds her of her country, a place that is
beautiful even if many places in it are deadly."
The day went smoothly after that. Ava fielded questions about her cousin
from her friends which led to a long talk with them about what being
transgender was especially as it was clear that it affects people in
different ways. She lost her battle long before Jennifer, but Jennifer
dealt with the same feelings that Ava felt and eventually those became
too much to overcome forcing her to admit the truth to everyone.
Over at his school, Philip's friends asked about Jennifer. He was quiet
but told them, "She's the same, it was only her changing clothes. Being
transgender doesn't change who you are, it only changes how the world
sees you. She's a girl, she always was one. She tried to be a boy but
couldn't fight it anymore. It was sparked because of the boys outing her
as dressing as a girl, she couldn't hold back any ore and it needed to
come out. I'm not like her, I'm not a girl. I know that I'm not, I'm
like my dad and grandpa. I'm all boy and proud to be one. My sister is a
girl, but she's never been anything but a girl. She didn't try to be a
boy like my cousin did. she's always acted the same way. Only her
clothes changed. She is a girl in all ways, now Jennifer is able to do
the same. She's a girl, she is showing her true self to us."
He was teased about being next. He countered, "Why? Because I live with
two girls? Don't you have the same number of girls at your house? Don't
they do the same stuff with you? How am I different than you? Why should
I be a girl? I never felt like one nor have I wanted to be one. I'm all
boy, and proud to be a boy. I've dressed for them, I admit that. But I
didn't feel like a girl and have no desire to wear any girls clothing
again. I'm all boy, I'm man enough to admit that I'm not a woman- are
you?"
That caused a laugh as the boys blushed heavily. He knew that it would
have the desired effect as all of the others knew that they were close
to their sisters and even did the same as Philip from time to time. It
was hard not to see that he wasn't a girl, he was more masculine than
most of the boys there.
He was approached after school by his friends and questioned about
Jennifer. He sighed and told them, "She's a girl. Just because she came
out doesn't mean that I'm going to be a girl too. No, she didn't get her
balls removed. No, she isn't getting implants. No, she didn't have a sex
change. Believe me, if that was possible my sister would have had all of
that already. She's my cousin, I love her so if you can't do the right
thing and accept her then we aren't friends anymore."
Two walked away, the others shook their heads and told him, "Their
parents hate your sister now will be angry about your cousin. They don't
mind her but they can't be around you if you're going to have her in
your house too. They think that they'll be forced to be girls too. Their
parents are stupid but they can be manipulative too. You're cool with
us, your cousin is great even if she's girly. We want to hang with you,
even if we have to endure more girls over there. I hope she's not too
girl now."
Jennifer lost several friends but gained more girls as friends. A few
couples broke apart over her but it was just typical middle school
squabbles and romances that were doomed from the start. Jennifer was a
hot item among the girls so being her friend was a badge of honor among
them even if she was slow to let anyone new come into their group and
suspected them for a while afterward.
Jennifer caused a stir among parents but it fizzled quickly as there was
nothing new that they could do as they had lost all attempts to get at
her family before when they went after Ava. Going after Mila was just as
bad, it showed that they were truly bigoted and didn't care one bit
about the kids. Mila was their last straw, they caused an implosion
among parents as the most vocal were oustered from all groups in a coup-
d'etat among them with the supportive parents exerting pressure over
everyone else.
Mila and Jennifer were to be left alone or there would be ripples that
impacted the families in ways that would harm them permanently: the
banks would foreclose on them, they would be fired from their jobs, they
would lose any legal support, and they would see their kids taken away
by social services. It was a full-on final warning, one that would
actually hurt them beyond reprehension. Mila and Jennifer were to be
protected and ignored, just as every other couple were ignored by them.
With no way to go after Jennifer things were quiet for the couple. The
four girls were always over one another's houses so much that it was
like Eve and Otis had two other daughters. The girls were close, it was
sweet that they were closer now that Jennifer was being herself and not
forcing herself to be a boy.
Jennifer blended in with the others girls to the point that you wouldn't
know about her private issues. It was how she liked it, she was just
another girl in school and was treated like she was anyone else or it
was an immediate suspension and likely expulsion. Nobody complained
after the parents' ouster, it was as if the school had become an
entirely different place once everyone saw Jennifer as she wanted.
Jennifer blossomed a month into her hormones, with Sarah taking her and
Ava to a cryogenic center to freeze semen so that the two could have
children when older. Ava was happy to tell her that she didn't need to
do it since she liked boys, but Eve demanded that it be done regardless
of that fact. It was best to do it when she could and not regret the
decision later on in case she changed her mind.
Jennifer made 16 doses, hoping that it was enough to satisfy her needs.
Ava made eight, it was tougher on her due to having gone so far with her
hormones and having a lower sperm count. It was feared that she might
only get one, possibly two kids at most out of her semen- but it was
better than none.
Philip actually demanded to join them as he didn't want them to feel
like he got out of it because of his being a boy. Steve happily told him
that it was a good idea as there was never any guarantee that he'd be
able to make it in the future due to a variety of reasons. He didn't
want to tell his son what they were but he had heard stories about teens
and adults having testicular issues such as cancer or trauma.
The family settled down as Jennifer's drama faded away. Sarah talked a
lot with her daughter about the girl inside of her and what she had done
over the years to suppress her. Jennifer was always there in the
background with Jennifer speaking on behalf of Jeff most of the time.
Multiple incidents in the past were put in a new perspective, such as
Jennifer getting into fights with a boy over kissing him while
pretending to be a girl. Jennifer was always driving Jeff to do things,
with a reluctant Jeff becoming frustrated at Jennifer refusing to let
him be a boy. It was as if they weren't the same person, even if they
were actually Jennifer and her subconscious fears personified.
Jeff started to become a distant memory, mother saw that her daughter
was always there even if she had no idea that she was. Little things
added up over time, Jennifer doing things with her years back that all
of the other boys would steer clear of yet enjoyed doing. His treating
Jaimie like a doll at times and the happiness over helping feed, bathe,
and clothe her made her see that he was mothering her back then.
Jaimie loved having a big sister, with her telling Jennifer, "I love my
sister. Boys are yucky, you aren't a boy. Mommy has two daughters, not a
son and daughter."
Steve had to go away more often as Spring gave way to Summer. He hated
not seeing the girls but it was tough to avoid the trips and all three
knew why he was gone. Philip was happy to be told that he could go with
him for a father/son trip once school got out, with him happy to get the
benefit of being a boy and have something to hold over the girls even if
Jennifer had done that trip already.
Stan offered his old motor home to Steve to use for the trip, with the
family going along with them. It led to Philip moping but realizing that
he was going to still be with his dad at events while the girls did the
usual touristy things during the day. He was also told that he could
help out at the arena if he kept up his grades, with him earning some
spending money from doing the work with the crews.
The girls would actually get hired to do work too, but he didn't need to
know that yet. They'd help with makeup and likely join Philip in bits
for the shows while giving input about promos for wrestlers. They were
part of a tradition: family helped out the company in their own way,
especially kids.
Mila was happy for them, even if it meant a lot of time away from
Jennifer. Mandy was happy that Ava was going to enjoy herself without
her there, but would miss her a lot. Otis happily told the girls that it
would be a family trip too as they were going to Florida and would
meetup with the Coles later on.
Mandy and Mila cheered then hugged their father, with him happily
telling them, "It's for good reason: your mom and I are having a baby.
It's going to be the last chance we have to enjoy things as a family as
the little one will make it difficult to go on trips. I expect you two
to help with the baby, even with a diaper change. It's tough, but you
already help with Jaimie and she's not fully potty trained yet."
Remy was in tears as the girls were a loss for words. Mandy happily
asked, "I'm going to be a sister? I get to be a big sister? I got what I
wanted in a big sister, now I get to be a big sister too?"
Mila asked if it was because of her and Jennifer being together. Remy
happily told her, "It's from when we had our wedding night. I guess I
forgot what time of the month it was so we were a little careless. I am
grateful that he's happy to be a dad again, just as I'm happy that
you're happy to be big sisters."
Jennifer shed a tear over hearing the good news. She volunteered to
babysit anytime for the couple, the two had to hold back their joy as
she showed that she wanted to be part of their family and help them as a
friend and as family. She was already like a third daughter to them, she
only added onto that feeling.
The school year ended without anything of note, the kids told all of
their friends what their families had planned for that summer and
received jealous responses but weren't virulent. They were going to do
the most fun events among the kids in school, even if they were
technically going to work too. Most kids in town were visiting relatives
or working on their farms, the Coles were traveling the country and
doing it in style thanks to Stan's old RV that he kept in pristine
condition despite its age.
The tight quarters saw Philip sharing a bed with Jaimie and Sarah while
the girls shared the couches, a happy Stan drove and slept during the
day, and Steve and Eve took the second bedroom. The kids told the couple
to cool themselves as they didn't want to move because they had a baby,
but it was fine as it was tough to do anything with thin walls and kids
close by. They would solve the cramped quarters by camping several
nights, with the kids getting to spread out in the bedrooms while the
adults slept in the tents that Steve bought them to use that summer.
The kids had a blast traveling, especially as Jaimie loved showing them
animals along the highway that caused them to ignore their tablets and
look around. The kids never noticed how much time passed as it was so
scenic, with Jaimie usually being the one who caused them to snap out of
it as she got hungry. A lot of the nights were spent just laying down
and reading their summer reading list books, with Otis a happy principal
as he heard just what the kids were doing during their nights.
At the events the kids were put to work and helped get things ready.
Jennifer was put to work with the GCW makeup crew while Philip helped
the t-shirt and memorabilia people with their tables. He did a great job
and was rewarded with t-shirts to wear during the nights.
He accumulated a great collection, one that he happily sent to his
friends with the wrestlers happy to be able to help him grow. He talked
with them about the sport and gained a lot of insight, especially about
his father and what he had done for many of them in the past few months.
He listened to them talk a lot and gave them a willing ear, someone who
wanted to hear their stories even if he didn't understand.
Taylor turner met with Jennifer and was happy to see her acting
different now that she was herself and not someone trying to be a boy.
Jennifer asked her why she was so concerned about her, Taylor smiled as
her wife happily told Jennifer, "She was just like you. I mean it in
every way: she hid herself from the 7th grade on through high school,
college, and into medical school. She dressed on weekends and when we
went to spas or on the road, but she never fully let herself out until
she had to show her true self to the world. You didn't have the fear of
going to prison like she had, but you did have to endure the same shame
and depression about hiding yourself from your parents. She came out and
became a whole new person, just as you have done. You're you, you're
Jennifer Cole. You're happy, even if you're going to have to endure
people being upset at you being yourself. We're happy that you're you,
you deserve it."
Jennifer hugged her and cried into her shoulder. Taylor softly added,
"She understands everything, she's been by my side since day one and
loved me despite what others thought. She's my wife, the only one I ever
loved. She's the woman of my dreams and the mother of my children. You
have the same, Mila is your soulmate. You're perfect for her, she loves
you no matter what others think of you."
The ladies turned things around and asked about Stan's own habits. Stan
just smirked and told them, "I have done it a few times but I've found
the perfect alternative to it: helping the girls. No need to be the lady
when you're being grandpa and helping them become your granddaughters.
Besides, Jaimie hasn't let me get out of her sight since Jennifer came
out. She knows that I'm happy being grandpa and not a grandma. She
doesn't like me as grandma, for some reason she hates the idea of it."
Jaimie gave him a glare and blurted out, "You're not grandma. Grandma
hates Jennifer. Grandma hates me. You aren't grandma, you're grandpa. I
hate grandma!"
He hugged her and told her, "She's just upset that I'm in your life. She
doesn't ever have to meet you, it was just a warning to stay away from
me. She is upset at me, not you. I know that you want to protect Ava and
Jennifer, but she's never going to harm them or she'll end up harmed a
lot worse by Steve."
She grunted and wouldn't leave his side. Taylor asked about his ex-wife
to which Steve growled, "She got herself released from her mental
institution due to the doctors thinking that she's going to be on her
best behavior now that she's medicated. She's in the area now and wanted
to take the kids from us. I do mean take: she threatened to have them
put in her care by the state. She doesn't know just how much protection
we have against her, but mom wasn't known for her brains. She's going to
try something, but we're ready for her. It doesn't matter what she
tries, it won't succeed."
The next night was a pay-per-view event which meant that Steve had to be
there early. He noticed that his mother was outside the arena and
alerted security, who told her to leave as she had no business there and
that members of the staff didn't want her there. She threatened them,
showing papers to security in an attempt to get access but was still
refused entry.
Taylor came out, looked over the paperwork, called someone, then told
Jane Cole, "You're paperwork is out of date and was refused by a judge.
You don't have any right to be here, so leave or you'll be placed under
arrest by deputies. Your son and daughters-in-law have refused to see
you and your grandkids are refusing to have anything to do with you. So
leave immediately, you're trespassing."
Jane Cole tried to make a huge scene out of GCW and her son harming the
kids but was arrested for attempted kidnapping for filing false
paperwork and lying to police. She tried to get the media to help but
someone tipped them off that she was lying and trying to use them to
harm kids. They ignored the fact that two were transgender, she was a
bigger story since she tried to be bold and kidnap kids from an arena by
threatening GCW.
Jane was visited later by Stan and given a restraining order in multiple
states with a federal order given by a judge in Missouri courtesy of an
old enemy of hers. She screamed loudly at him for harming their
grandchildren, he angrily shot back, "You have not once tried to be a
grandmother to them. You had 14 years to be a grandmother, you abused
Jimmy and ignored Steve. You aren't trying to do anything but make a
buck off of them through me. Sarah and Eve have held back but they have
no problem going to a lawyer and suing you for abuse and extortion. They
have good reason: they know what you're going to do as soon as you're
released from jail. Don't try it, their lawyer scares the crap out of me
and he's a fraction as scary as his mother-in-law. Eve and Sarah have
powerful support, and with deep pockets. It was dumb going after Vince's
newest darling, your eldest grandchild has his ear even if she has no
idea that he's listening. A simply request from her for help and you're
finished. That isn't a criminal threat, I am speaking from experience as
I've seen it myself: mess with people under his protection and you're in
for a world of hurt financially. He'll take every penny that you got
from me and your boy toys. He'll ensure that you're living in a tent in
the park for the rest of your life. He doesn't play nice- never has."
He left and was called by Vince. He told Vince what happened, why, and
told Vince that she was scared senseless and would comply. Vince sent
word to her anyway to ensure that she complied and stayed as far away
from the kids as possible and never even thought about going after them
again.
The summer was lucrative for the three kids as they earned several
hundred dollars from working each night and giving the writers a bunch
of useful ideas for what to do with certain characters while being a
part of several shows as they helped the faces("Good guys") beat the
heels("Bad guys") in matches by a distraction or frustrating them by
taunting them. Philip loved being part of his father's entourage for the
month of July as he helped Steve, "Think" during pre-match prep and
angered the heels that he faced. He was called immediately by his
friends who saw him on TV leading to them telling him how lucky he was
as he got to be on TV and meet so many famous wrestlers- even if he knew
them all already.
Mila and Mandy finally joined them when they reached Florida. The girls
were thrilled to meet Taylor and her wife then their kids. Seeing the
Turners made Mila happy, it was proof that love conquered all.
Taylor happily told her that she was right in thinking that, especially
as she realized that she could be a mom without trying too hard as she
saw Taylor's young daughter smiling away at the girls and telling her
that she was born after her mom came out to the world. The little girl
was the spitting image of her mother, with Mila seeing her future in the
little girl. There was no reason to not stay with Jennifer as it was
clear that they'd be parents one day, no matter what happened they could
be parents.
Otis felt overwhelmed being around famous people, but hearing that
Taylor was from humble origins as a daughter of a seamstress and
construction worker made him see that they were just normal people and
it was just a business. The fact that her mother was the head designer
for GCW's smaller company, the, "Next Evolution Wrestling"(NEW) was
beside the point, they were still average folks. She then told of her
in-laws and how they were even more mundane, which he felt great pride
in knowing- they were a bunch of hard workers who were related to famous
people but still had to work to earn a living.
The families enjoyed meeting the Turners and saw the Turner kids invited
to Maine whenever they had a chance to come up, but that was politely
declined due to tight schedules and invites from family out in
California and as far away as Samoa. Their reasoning was sound and the
kids understood why they'd be unable to visit, but it pleased them that
they were glad that the offer stood regardless. The Turners to them were
like family and they owed a lot to them so would happily accommodate
anytime.
The families spent two days at the beach after the obligatory three days
at the world famous amusement parks, with GCW's summer tour of Florida
allowing them to enjoy the places without losing any time at the arenas.
The Turner kids joined them, giving Jennifer her first taste of a boy
admiring her body. It was shocking to her, but Taylor's elder son and
his cousin couldn't stop looking at her chest.
She blushed as one of his cousins whispered to her, "He knows that
you're like me in body but has to be a boy and look at your boobs.
They're growing bigger, I wish mine were as big but I'm still too young
for them to get large. You're lucky, you took quicker to hormones than
me."
She looked over the girl and gasped in shock. She nodded, telling her,
"Mom's family is small, dad's is a little bigger but I won't get too big
without help. I don't want big boobs, I like mom's."
Jennifer shed a tear and thanked her for telling her that, it meant the
world to her to hear that her chest is coming along as fast as other
girls and she's bigger than some. She looked down and felt jealous that
Ava, Mandy, and Mila were bigger than her but happy to see that she was
growing too. She started to let herself relax more, and kissed the boys
on the cheek for doing something for her without knowing.
Jennifer's subtle change caught the ladies by surprise which caused
concern among them. Taylor's wife actually knew what happened and
carefully explained to them, "My son and his cousins are responsible. I
think my son was being a bit too obvious in checking Jennifer's chest
development and caused her to be told a secret about his cousin. She's
transgender too, but has been slower to take to hormones. She's a little
bigger than Jennifer and told her what she needed to hear. I'm not a
psychologist or psychiatrist but my gut tells me that your daughter had
a major revelation about her body and is relaxing more. She is aware
that other girls are slower than her despite a head start, her cousin is
blessed as is she so there's no need for her to feel like she's not a
girl when she's as big as other girls."
The boys realized their mistake and tried to apologize to the girls. Ava
and Jennifer happily kissed them on the lips as payment, with the boys
running off to avoid showing their reaction. It was funny to all of the
ladies, they got payback the hard way but the girls weren't upset at
them for their leering.
Taylor bid them goodbye when the tour moved on to the southeast, with
Jennifer feeling like she lost a close friend but feeling happy that
Taylor had a good reason for leaving them: she was about to start her
next career, that of a surgeon. Taylor was a doctor before she became a
professional wrestler so had the start of a new chapter in her life pick
up where her previous one left off. Jennifer was thrilled when she was
told that she could be one too if she set her mind to it, she had a
strong determination that she had shown by her years of enduring being
Jeff before she came out as Jennifer.
Remy started to show by the end of summer and caused Mila and Mandy to
cry, they were really going to be big sisters in a few months. Seeing
the sonogram image of their little brother caused them to weep as he
looked like Otis which caused Remy to cry alongside them. Otis was
stoic, but hugged Sarah and tried hard to not let Jennifer and Ava see
him being emotional over being a father.
The tour ended up in Boston and caused the girls to groan as Dr. Eliza
wanted to meet with them to talk about what happened over the summer
months. The Finns and Nelsons invited them over for dinner so the kids
were out of their hair as their grandchildren would ensure that they
played together. Sarah was going to say something but John Finn happily
told her, "They have no issue with your daughter or niece, especially as
several of them are transgender or the children of transgender people.
One of the girls is a case study in how horrible people can be to
children so her story might help them a great deal."
