January 23, 1987, Chicago, Illinois

“Hi, Peaches,” I said as she walked out of the Jetway door.

“Hi, Yankee!” she said, flashing me a smile.

She stepped aside and dropped her carry-on bag and I pulled her into a tight hug. I immediately started crying.

“Damnit, Yankee! Don’t start that already!” she ordered. “You can cry later.”

“But Peaches...” I protested.

“But nothin’. Look at me.”

I released her slightly so we could look in each other’s eyes. I fought back the tears and she nodded.

“Good,” she said. “Now, take me home, please.”

“Home?” I asked.

“It was home for a long time, Yankee. It’s my home away from home. Come on, let’s go see everyone.”

Stephie slipped her hand into mine as we walked through the terminal and headed for the short-term parking. I remembered the very first time that she’d done that, and where it had eventually led. And then I remembered that she’d done it again after we’d ended our intimate relationship the first time, and where THAT had led. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Stephie smirk.

“What’s that look for?” I asked.

“I know you well enough to know what you’re thinking, Yankee. I held your hand when I wanted to sleep with you. Well, I still do, but we both know that ain’t ever going to happen, no matter how much either of us wants it. I’m married, and can’t do that to Jason and you would never do it to him, neither.”

“You’re right on all accounts, Peaches,” I said.

“That don’t mean we can’t sit in the sauna naked, though!” she giggled.

“Can I ask you something?”

“How can I laugh and be happy? What’s the alternative? Mope around? Go sit in a rocking chair with a quilt on my lap and wait to die? Hell no!”

“There are really no treatments?” I asked.

“It’s spread too far, too fast. Even if it hadn’t, the mortality rate from surgery is so high that I’m not sure it would be worth the extra pain and suffering, even if it was possible. And chemotherapy failed the first time. No, Yankee, unless someone comes up with a magic bullet to clear it out of my liver, kidneys, and pancreas, it’s going to kill me. And soon.”

“Shit,” I sighed.

“And that is the last I’m going to say about it and the last time you’re goin’ to even think about it while I am here. I didn’t come here to see you mope around or talk about me dyin’ for four solid days. I came to see my friend, to have a good time, and to make sure he knows how much I love him. And how grateful I am for everythin’ he did for me. And to me!” she giggled.

“Oh just get in the car!” I said with a wan smile, holding the door open for her.

She smiled at me and got in. I shut the door and walked around to the other side, opened the door and got in. Stephie was mostly quiet on the way to Hyde Park, just asking a few questions about who was going to be around and making sure she could see everyone that she wanted to.

We walked into the empty house - everyone was at class - and put Stephie’s bag in one of the guest rooms, and then went to the coach house to collect Jesse from Beverly.

“Well, shoot, Yankee, he’s as cute as can be! He even looks like you!”

“Jesse, this is Aunt Stephie,” I said.

“Stephie?” he said, looking confused.

“That’s what he calls my sister,” I said. “He can’t quite say ‘Stephanie’.”

“Stephie!” Jesse said.

“This is a different girl, Jesse. Her name is Stephie!”

“Hi Jesse!” Stephie said.

“Hi!” he grinned, doing his best to look as cute as a button.

“He’s turning on all the charm, Peaches,” I said. “He already has a girlfriend and every woman in the two houses is eating out of his hand.”

“Francesca!” he said emphatically.

“That’s the girlfriend?” Stephie laughed.

“Oh yeah. They have you and Red beat by quite a bit; he was about three months and she was about six months when they met.”

“Wow! And I thought knowin’ each other since we was two was long! Think they’ll figure it out better than me and Red?”

“Who knows,” I said, as we walked back to the house. “Her mom is getting divorced; her husband decided to leave her for his secretary.”

“Now that’s low,” Stephie said. “It was bad enough what Rose did to Jason. But bein’ married and doin’ that? That’s just lower ‘en dirt! And no, Yankee, I don’t think that about you. You got a totally different situation. Can I hold him?”

“Of course,” I said, handing Jesse to her.

We went to the great room and sat on the couch. Stephie bounced Jesse on her knee and talked to him. I watched, and once again fought back tears as I realized that she would never have a baby of her own, not even an adopted one. She might not even live long enough to hear about Elyse’s baby.

“You’re going to have a passel of kids, ain’t ya?” she grinned.

“So it would appear! Kara wants two and so does Jessica. And so does Elyse. Jennifer and Josie only wanted the little guy you have on your lap.”

Stephie played with Jesse until lunchtime. The three of us ate lunch and then went for a brief walk in the frigid air.

“Damn, Yankee, you saved the coldest day of the year for me! I didn’t really notice so much just walking into the house from the car, but now? Wow!”

“Jesse can’t stay out too long,” I said. “We’ll just go a couple of blocks. But I want him to get used to Chicago weather.”

“See Francesca?” Jesse asked.

“No, it’s too cold for her to be at the park,” I said. “You’ll probably see her at your play group on Thursday.”

“Jesse miss Francesca!” he said.

“Yankee, he’s not even one yet!”

“I know. But think about where he lives. There are a dozen adults around pretty consistently. Jorge is around a lot because he and Stephanie are dating pretty seriously, and Nick is here pretty often because of Bethany, and of course Kathy and Kurt, and Jamie and Jackie are here a lot.”

“Nick and Bethany?” she asked.

“They’re going to get engaged. Her parents are in town this weekend and Nick’s going to ask for her hand.”

“Now that’s right gallant!” she said. “Will I get to see them?”

“Yes. They’re going to dinner tomorrow night. Bethany will miss the girls’ night out, but she and Nick will be at the gathering and dinner on Sunday.”

“Come off it! It’s a party. Have a fucking party! And enjoy it! Got it?”

“Yes, ma’am!” I chuckled.

“I mean it, Yankee! Music, dancing, and booze. And the sauna!”

“OK. You win! Like always.”

“Of course! You always gave me exactly what I wanted, even if I didn’t know I wanted it.”

“That first night?” I smirked.

“You know, that’s one thing nobody will ever do with me except for you,” she said softly.

“Then I’m privileged, Peaches.”

We walked back into the house and took off our winter clothes. We went to the kitchen and I made some hot chocolate for Stephie and me and some warm apple juice for Jesse.

“Isn’t he going to need a nap?” Stephie asked.

I chuckled, “Jesse hates taking naps. I think he’s afraid he’s going to miss something interesting. He does pretty well with just one short nap mid-afternoon.”

Elyse arrived home a few minutes later. The girls hugged tightly and started talking. I decided it was a good time to take Jesse back to Beverly because it would be time for his nap. She took him from me and after I gave him a kiss on the top of his head, I headed back to the house where Bethany had joined Stephie and Elyse.

I made some tea and set the pot and my Russian tea set out in the great room. The rest of the girls trickled in over the next few hours, with Josie and Jennifer being the last to arrive since they were at work. Jorge had arrived just before them, and Nick just after them.

Elyse and I had decided to order pizza for dinner, and it was delivered about 6:30pm. We told Stephie about the time that Kara, Cindi, and Elyse had greeted the pizza delivery guy from Connie’s naked at the door and she laughed, saying that it sounded just like the usual craziness in my house. We finished eating and I opened several bottles of wine and we drank and talked. When Jessica arrived just after 8:00pm, we decided on a sauna.

I pulled Nick aside, “It’s your call. Are you comfortable with our usual rules?”

He chuckled, “There’s only one way to find out. I take it that Bethany is OK with this?”

“She is. You and I will be the only guys because Stephanie and Jorge went out, and so did Sofia, Leila, and Alejandra. Well, Jen will bring Jesse, but you know what I mean.”

“I do. Sure. Let’s do it!” he said firmly.

I went downstairs and set the controls and ten minutes later, everyone was sitting naked in the sauna. Nick was a bit uncomfortable, but he quickly relaxed. Given the amount of gorgeous female flesh that was a good thing for a first-timer. I noticed Stephie’s scars, but they were small compared to Bethany’s. As badly as Bethany had been hurt, she’d had a chance. Stephie did not.

“How was your day, Jess?” I asked.

“Boring. It’s cold so we mostly get flu symptoms. One more week and I’m done with Medicine.”

“What’s your next rotation?” Elyse asked.

“Uhm,” she said, not wanting to say what it was.

“It’s OK, Jess,” I said.

“Oncology,” she said softly, looking at Stephie. “At Loyola.”

“Well, if they got some magic thing there that nobody in Georgia knows about, make sure you let me know right away!”

“I promise,” Jessica said, looking at me.

“It’s OK, Babe. She read me the Riot Act about being morose or treating her any different from how I used to.”

“I told Yankee that I wasn’t about to go sit in a rocking chair with a quilt on my lap and wait to die. I’m going to keep living my life as long as I can. I’ll be traveling to the race tracks with Jason as long as possible. And tomorrow night, we’re going to have a good time, and Sunday we’re going to have a party.”

“You heard her,” I said. “Show her a good time tomorrow night!”

“Do you have any restrictions, Stephie?” Jennifer asked.

“Like what?” she asked with a rueful smile. “I could smoke two packs of cigarettes and drink a fifth of whisky every day and it wouldn’t make no difference. But no, I’m just taking ibuprofen when I feel badly. For now, it’s Advil, which is over the counter. I’ll get stronger stuff when I need it. And eventually other drugs. But I haven’t needed my Advil today. If I don’t need it tomorrow, I can drink.”

“You’re not taking any other drugs?” Josie asked.

“No. There’s nothing else to do at this point. Like I told Yankee, I’m goin’ to die and ain’t nobody or nothin’ goin’ to stop that. So I’m just going to take things to make it so I can do what I want until I just can’t.”

When we finished in the sauna, we all showered and dressed, and met in the great room to have wine, whisky, and, in Jessica’s case, 7-Up. I continued to be amazed at Stephie’s attitude, but the more I thought about it, the more I understood what she had said. Sitting around and waiting to die made no sense at all. If you only had a short time to live, then you should get as much as you could out of each and every day.

Then I thought about Jason - the guy they called Red. If I was contemplating an empty spot in my heart and my life because of Stephie’s impending death, he was certainly feeling, or would feel, the same way that I had when Birgit had died. Those feelings were trying their damnedest to crowd out any positive thoughts I had, and I wondered how he had agreed to let Stephie go for four days, when that could be a significant amount of the time she had left.

“Stephie, what’s Jason doing while you’re here?” Elyse asked, seemingly reading my mind.

“He’s working, three out of four days. They would have let him off work, but he wanted me to have time with my friends here. Steve invited him, but Jason said that given how Steve treated him when he asked for me, it was the least he could do.”

That made him a better man than I was, because I didn’t know that I could do the same thing. If Jessica or Kara were dying, I don’t know that I could let them out of my sight for a second, let alone for four days. It had been tough enough to leave Bethany’s side when she’d been in the hospital, but Doctor Barton had insisted, and given the favors he had done me, I’d listened to his advice. I’d struggled with balancing time with Bethany and with my other responsibilities. I wondered if I’d handled it correctly, though, given the ultimate outcome for everyone, if push came to shove, I’d say that I had.

Just before midnight, Stephie said that she wanted to get some sleep, and pretty much everyone agreed. My wives and I went up to bed, as the others mostly went to their rooms, or moved to another place in the house. After my quick bathroom routine, I got into bed with my wives and pulled them close to me. I needed the closeness and comfort to sustain me, and I was very glad that they were with me.

January 24, 1987, Chicago, Illinois

“Stephie?!” Sensei Jim said happily as we walked in to the dojo.

I groaned inwardly. I had not said a word to him about her situation. That had been a major mistake that I suspected was about to bite me in the butt, and might create a very awkward situation. Kara looked at me and immediately knew what I was thinking. She took my hand and squeezed it to reassure me that everything would be OK.

“Hi, Sensei!” Stephie said, bowing to him.

“I see you’ve earned your black belt. And that you’re Second Dan! Very good!”

She had earned her belt before me, despite having been behind in Chicago, and having taken time off for her surgery. She glanced over at me and I shrugged, letting her know I’d made a mistake and trying to apologize without saying a word. She flashed me a quick smile and simply took her place with the class. I watched her, and saw nothing but smooth, crisp movements, and was surprised at her endurance. To any observer, it would seem as if nothing at all was wrong.

When class finished, Stephie asked to speak to Sensei Jim privately, and they went to the small office he kept just off the foyer. Kara, Sofia, and my sister came over to sit on one of the benches along the wall of the dojo with me. I leaned back against the wall and closed my eyes.

Catherine and Callie

I met Catherine when I was 16 and she was 14. She had a high school crush on me, a shy, skinny boy who she had seen playing basketball in her neighborhood park. We were introduced by a mutual friend, and spent a few hours that first day just talking on the swings, until her mother called her in for dinner. Catherine was a beautiful girl, with deep brown eyes, dark brown hair, and an hourglass figure even at her tender age. Though we dated for a few months, we never went farther than kissing...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 5 MichelleChapter 78 Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous Part II

May 15, 1992, Glencoe, Illinois “Join me in my study, if you would,” Noel Spurgeon said when we finished our dessert. It had been an interesting evening. Samantha and I had talked for a bit before we’d been summoned to dinner. The meal had been prepared by a chef and was served by a white-coated young man. Again, this was a far cry from Lois at the van Hoeks’ house. What wasn’t a far cry was the fact that I was having dinner with a man who knew I was going to be sleeping with his daughter...

May 1979 The limo dropped me at home about 9:00pm. I took my stuff to my room, stripped, and hung up the tux. The rest of the things went into the hamper. I saw no reason to put this off any longer. “Stephen, you need to explain yourself!” my mom demanded. “I was in Mrs. McGrath’s, well, Mrs. Sanders’ now, wedding, as I said.” “You walked her down the aisle! March 1978 I dreaded going to school. I thought about staying home sick. I rarely did that and if I told Mom and Dad I was sick, they wouldn’t doubt me. I had missed exactly one day of school in the past three years. Unfortunately, that would only postpone the inevitable. I didn’t have any classes with Jennifer, but we did have lunch together as we had all year. I could only wait to see what happened. I saw several of the gang in the hallway or class, but nobody said anything or even gave...

A Bronze Bookmark Halloween

A Bronze Bookmark Halloween An "Odues' Oddities" Story by TGTrinity The wind was picking up, and Sam secured his scarf tightly around his neck. The city streets were empty, save for some stragglers who were drunkenly trying to find their way to another party. There was a commotion in the distance, and Sam figured it was some kids egging a house, a drunken brawl moving from a party into the neighborhood streets or a father chasing a guy out of his daughters bedroom. On Halloween...

A WellLived Life Book 9 AnalaChapter 64 Halloween Surprises Part I

October, 1984, Chicago, Illinois October flew by. Between school, work, programming for the unions, and time with my friends, days vanished like fog under a bright sun. Wen had continued getting one kiss each Saturday, but nothing more, and she’d gone home after studying. The twins, for all the teasing and banter, hadn’t done anything except serve lunch when I’d visited them on Sundays. Things with everyone else continued as they had. Anala had gone on a few dates with Prajesh, the guy who...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 4 ElyseChapter 27 Aldermen

August 6, 1990, Chicago, Illinois “Good morning, Alderman,” I said when my call was put through to him. “Good morning, Steve.” “I’m going to have to decline your offer mostly because I simply don’t have the time to dedicate to something like that to do a good job. Between work, my family, karate practice four times a week, and marriage counseling, I just don’t have the time. I’d be happy to endorse you.” “I’ll take that. If you change your mind, just let me know,” he said. “I spoke with...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 7 SakurakoChapter 54 Westward Bound Or is it Eastward

June 15, 1994, Chicago, Illinois “That’s everything, I think,” I said. “My luggage is in the trunk of the car, I have my passport, tickets, and money, both dollars and yen. I can’t think of anything else.” “I’ll see you in five weeks,” Elyse said, giving me a quick hug. “Did you see they rioted in Vancouver last night because they lost the Stanley Cup?” I chuckled, “Only Canadians would riot when they LOSE the Cup! I did see that on the front page of the Trib. Are we ready?” “Michelle and...

A WellLived Life Book 5 StephanieChapter 6 Alliances and Conspiracies Part II

June 1981, Milford, Ohio On Monday morning, Stephanie and I swam and had breakfast together. Afterwards, we went out to the deck. “You don’t seem like yourself,” Stephanie said, her voice full of concern. “I’m not, Squirt,” I said. “Bethany knows you called Karin. She basically said that the Triumvirate is over because they can’t trust you. She also told me that I need to tell Kara. And she told me not to trust you.” “How did she find out? Did you tell her?” she accused. “No. She put two...

Calliopes New Life

Following the party and her introduction to the family, Padraic and Calliope settled into their own routine. They discussed the rules and in an effort to keep his baby happy Padraic compromised on a few smaller issues and Callie learned to be cared for after so many years of having to look after herself. The biggest concession came the day after the party, when they had gone to sign the contract with the amendments they had made to it. Callie had sat up on his lap and turned to him seriously,...

May 15, 1993, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania “That was very weird,” Tara said as we got into the shower on Wednesday morning. “Never done that before, I take it?” I asked. “No. And I doubt I’ll ever do it again. And we barely got any sleep!” We both laughed at the repeated conversation sequence from the previous time. “There was a lot less talking this time,” I chuckled. “Sorry, but you looked like you needed it. Sex, I mean; not talking.” “Thanks for not getting upset when I...

A WellLived Life Book 9 AnalaChapter 66 Halloween Surprises Part III

October, 1984, Chicago, Illinois Bethany was right - I did have some very surprising things happen in my life. And they never seemed to stop. On the other hand, Fate seemed to have taken a holiday and I was just fine with that. If she never came back, I’d be a very happy man. And given how things were going, I was pretty happy overall. I walked out the back door and down the brick path to the back door of the coach house. I knocked and Patience opened the door to let me in. As was usually...

Madame Balashov formerly of some obscure St. Petersburg Ballet Company, but given her age, I think it was before it was called Petrograd or Leningrad, not the most recent name flip in the 90’s... would castigate my tardiness again.Frick I only wanted the ballet skills and drills to improve my sex life...I wasn’t touring the world dancing...maybe a cock fest tour one day...but not frickin pirouettes like a music box.You have no idea unless you’ve done ballet or done a...

May 20, 1996, Chicago, Illinois “I’m glad you called,” I said. “How are you doing?” “Good,” Michelle replied. “And the baby?” “He’s fine. Wonderful, actually.” “I heard from Melissa that Andrei’s mom was with you.” “She was! She was with Svetlana for all four of her babies, so she’s an expert!” “Do you plan to have a churching ceremony?” “At Vespers, once he’s forty days old. He’ll be baptized the next morning.” I looked at my calendar and did a quick calculation. “June 15th for the...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 2 StephieChapter 23 Halloween Weekend Part II

October 31/November 1, 1987, Chicago, Illinois When the song finished, Courtney simply walked away to join Jody, who was talking with Dale, one of the Navy guys. I decided it was time to talk to Tasha, so I grabbed a drink, and walked over to where she was standing. “Hi,” I said. “Hi,” she said, looking down. “Would you like to dance?” I asked. “I guess.” “You know what? Let’s take a walk instead,” I said. We left the attic room and went downstairs, then out the front door. I took...

May 26, 1991, Iron Mountain, Michigan “Shall we see if we can find a farm?” I asked at breakfast on Sunday morning. “That sounds like a great idea,” Jessica said. “There’s a visitor’s bureau in town,” Kara said. “I saw it when we were here the first time.” “I’m sorry I ruined that vacation,” Jessica said. “Ruined?” I protested. “Are you kidding? Getting you back was way more important than a few days of vacation!” “I agree,” Kara added. “Jess, you know exactly how bad off Steve was...

Halloween Story Mallory

“I can’t believe you’re going to wear that costume, Mallory.” It was time for our annual Halloween party and I couldn’t wait. We took turns buying the costumes and that year it was up to Mallory to decide what we were going to wear. She wouldn’t tell me a thing and part of the game is for me to beg and plead for just one little clue. All week long I’d promised her interesting sexual favors and anything else I could think of, but of course she never said a word. Well almost nothing. There was...

A WellLived Life Book 10 The WifeChapter 14 Katherine Victoria Will

January, 1985, Chicago, Illinois I arrived back in Hyde Park about ten minutes before the end of the Super Bowl. It didn’t look like it had been much of a contest, given that the score was 38-16, with San Francisco trouncing Miami. I grabbed a Coke and some chips and sat down on the couch next to Julia and Dave. In the room, besides my housemates, were Jamie, Kenneth, Kurt, Kathy, Jorge, George, Charlie, Bert, and Wen. “Julia, I got approval from both guys in Cincinnati,” I said. She...

August 8, 1991, Chicago, Illinois “Good morning, Babe! How was the night shift?” “I should have started my maternity leave last week,” she sighed. “Are you OK, Jess?” Kara asked. “Yes, I’m fine. Well physically. We had a bad MVA last night. Three young children. The car ended up under a semi.” “Did they make it?” I asked. Jessica sighed and shook her head. We stopped walking and Kara and I put our arms around her. And to my utter shock, my wife started crying. We stood there for a good...

He won’t give his name, but says it’s an important financial matter and I’m quoting, ‘it would be in his best interest to talk to me.’ Do you want me to call the police?” “No, I’ll come down,” I said. Loosening Up Book 9 Fantasies Among the WeedsChapter 2 Phi Theta Rho Party Again

Late on Saturday afternoon Dave shifted into his job as one of the bartenders for the Circle. Just as he was ready for a first customer, Emma came racing up to the bar. She was alone and only wearing a monokini, unlike a few hours earlier when her parents and younger sister had visited and she was dressed conservatively. She extended her body over the bar and kissed Dave. “Thank you for being so nice to my parents and sister.” “Of course. They’re nice people. I take it they don’t know a...

July 22, 2000, Chicago, Illinois “Albert, do you have everything packed?” Mom asked. “Yes, Mom!” I replied, rolling my eyes because she’d asked before I went to bed. “He’ll be fine, Babe,” Dad said. “Let’s walk to the hospital.” I usually didn’t get up early, but Dad had suggested it would help Mom if I walked to the hospital with her because I was leaving to see Jane for three weeks. A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 5 Housemates

August 1981, Chicago, Illinois On Sunday morning, I made my usual call to Karin. I described everything in the apartment and all the things I’d done during the week, including the reception. Both of us would start school in a week and we were both looking forward to it. When we finished talking, I went out for my run, showered, and ate breakfast. I made some tea, started a load of laundry, and then turned on the stereo. I put on an REO Speedwagon album and then relaxed on the couch with the...

February, 1985, Chicago, Illinois When the plane touched down at Meigs, I thanked Patrick Shaughnessy and said that I’d see him on the 16th. I walked to my car and fired up the engine. Before I backed out of the spot, I went over in my mind what I was going to say to Cindi when I saw her. I’d thought about the conversation during the flight back from Blue Ash, and had concluded that there was no way to avoid upsetting her. I backed out of the parking spot carefully, then moved to first gear...

Gallaghers IslandChapter 4 Gallagher Meets the Female HeadHunters

After they had the huts finished, the water supply taken care of and even finding they had plenty of food with the coconuts and the bananas, the fishing was good and Mr. Candleford even managed to trap a wild pig in a pit trap that worked perfectly. The only hard part was to get the carcass out and get it prepared for eating and then to smoke and keep the remaining meat safe for future use. In a sense, it was good that they were there on the island because the things would have started to...

August 21, 1989, Chicago, Illinois “Unbelievable,” I said when I read the headline from the Chicago Tribune. “It says here that Solidarity activist Tadeusz Mazowiecki was nominated to be Prime Minister of Poland.” I hadn’t had a chance to read the paper on Sunday because it hadn’t been delivered before we left for the race track in Michigan. “So now what?” Kara asked. “We’re in totally uncharted territory. Your guess is as good as anyone’s right about now.” “Steve, do you have a minute?”...

A Quirk of fate againVa porn theaterGH104part1of1

I heard about The Log Cabin through the grape vine. It was a dingy little adult bookstore in Kennedale. The big attraction was the porno theater that was located in the back. It had regular movie theater seats and a big screen. When you walked in the door the screen was to the right. There was an aisle that ran down to the front. On the right side of the aisle the rows were about 6 seats and on the left about a dozen. As worldly as I was, you can imagine how embarrassed I still was, a lone...

A WellLived Life Book 1 BirgitChapter 4 Calm Before the Storm

June 1977 When I got home, I grabbed a Coke and some chips and went right to my room. I didn’t think I could deal with my parents or Jeff or Stephanie. I just needed to be by myself. That wouldn’t seem odd to anyone, because I often went to my room to read. In addition, I now had the TV I’d received for my birthday. I flipped it on to WXIX Channel 19 and reruns of Gilligan’s Island and Green Acres played in the background while I read. I had to get my mind clear for the final exams that...

Dont Sleep on the Subway Book ThreeChapter 55 Jun 1945 Allies Take Over the German Government

ALLES IN ORDNUNG The German phrase “Alles in ordnung” is literally translated as “All in order”. It is a cultural point that reveals the true German sense of actually following orders. That is the primary reason why most of the Nazi war criminals at Nurnburg used the excuse of “I was only following orders” when they were interrogated about their war crimes. It is an attitude that cuts across all identifications in society. It is genderless, sexless, and certainly bears no relationship to...

Allen to Allie II Nadine Explains All Almost

Hello "gurls"; Nadine here. I have noticed that some of you have actually read Allie's little introduction to what his life is currently like. The poor dear, his life is so hard now. I noticed he inferred many things in his little essay. Yes, of course I read what he wrote as he wrote it, since he is naturally no longer permitted un-supervised use of the computer. I allowed him to post it as is because I was curious to see what kind of reaction his tragic little story would engender. I...

July, 1983, Chicago, Illinois I woke up early on the First of July, because my body clock was still set to Swedish time. The flight back had been long but uneventful, and I was happy that the businessman in the seat next to me hadn’t wanted to talk. I read, wrote some longhand journal entries, ate, and generally relaxed while the plane zipped over the Atlantic. I’d come home, taken a sauna, eaten a light meal, and gone straight to bed, not bothering to check messages, look at the mail that...

More over, the fork was placed on the left side of your plate for a specific reason." Theresa blushed as she looked around at the other five girls, some of them putting on airs. July, 1983, Chicago, Illinois After Rosie left, I stripped the sheets from my bed, as well as the cover of the duvet, and tossed everything into the washing machine. I lit a lavender candle in the room, and then swept and dusted. I did a quick spot-check of the rest of the house and noticed that the tub in the sauna needed to be cleaned. I scrubbed it, then mopped the sauna floor with a damp sponge mop. I finished cleaning the sauna about the time the washing machine finished, so I moved...

August, 1984, Chicago, Illinois The rest of the week proceeded as expected - class on Wednesday, as well as the usual visit from Penny, work on Thursday, and class on Friday. Kara and I had lunch together at IIT, Sofia practiced her driving and parking, and I hung out with Mark Agnini after class for beers. Staci and I got into a couple of interesting debates about the Old Testament that Mark had to break up to allow others in the class to participate. She was very much of the ‘directly...
