We awoke fairly early the next morning, as the Sisters wanted to see this new castle. I was worried about what Ken had said, and that they would be disappointed. We quickly dressed in our Wizard's robes, but I didn't know if Ken and the O'Hallinan Sisters were up yet.
"Ken could still be asleep," I told my women, who were ready to leave for his apartment.
"No, they are awake and up," Airmid told me, confidently.
"Are you sure?" I asked wondering how she could know that.
"Yes, we can hear him, just as we can hear you," Almha told me, matter-of-factly.
"What?" I demanded in shock.
"We can hear him just as easily as we can hear you," Airmid repeated. "We have to listen, of course, but we only really do that when we need to know something."
After I thought about it, it kind of made sense. Both of our Mothers had shared a mental link with others. I just wondered how Ken was going to take this news when I told him. I would definitely have to tell him.
"If you are sure that they are up, let's go over there, and see about breakfast," I told them. When we reached the screen wall, I knocked on the door.
"Come in, Kell!" I heard through the door. We have always been able to track each other, and tell where the other one was by our Talents, so I wasn't surprised, and entered, passing through Ken's familiar wards. It wasn't until I was several feet into the room, that I thought about the Sisters also entering, and turned to lower Ken's wards only to discover both Sisters behind me and through the wards. They were smiling at me.
"His wards are very similar to yours," Almha told me.
"Ah ... yes!" was all that I could think to say, and continued into the room. Ken and his ladies were already up and were also dressed for the day in Wizard's robes.
"Are you going to take all of your things with you?" Ken asked as we joined them.
"I don't see why not. If we don't like it, we'll just return here. It's not like we have a huge amount of things," I told him, and paused. This was going to need to be brought up rather delicately.
"You know that both of our Mothers had mental links with others," I started.
"We've only known that since we were about what -- three?" Ken asked with a smile.
"Ah ... yes. Well, I just found out a few minutes ago that not only can the Mac Sweeney Sisters tell what I am thinking and doing, but ... ah ... they can ... can also read you!" I finished quickly. Ken was still smiling at me. Didn't he understand what I had just said?
"Yes, I felt their touch a short time ago. I was startled at first until I remembered exactly what you just brought up. We do share pretty much the same genes," he told me.
"You aren't upset?" I asked, somewhat amazed.
"No, not especially. I'll just need to set the privacy spell more often," he told me.
"Yes, no fair peeking when we are in here alone," Sunshine told the Sisters, who blushed.
"No, we wouldn't do that," Almha assured her, before blushing again. "You haven't ... have you?" she asked Ken, uncertainly.
"No, I wouldn't do that either," Ken assured both of them. There was a knock on the door following that. I could feel Ken drop his wards.
"Come in, Eamon," he called after that, and the Castellan entered followed by several women with dishes, and our breakfast.
"We'll be ready to leave whenever you are. Enjoy your breakfast, Master Ken," Eamon told us before he departed. The women had already left.
"We'll be ready shortly, Eamon," Ken assured him. Breakfast was quickly consumed, and the Sisters fetched our possessions from the Guest Chamber while Ken called up his wards around his apartment. He and the O'Hallinan Sisters were going with us. The Sisters and I followed them down the stairs. Arriving in the bawn, we found a number of people there waiting for us.
The first was the Captain of the Guard with six men, and what appeared to be a supervisor.
"My Lord, this is Sergeant Oisin O'Carroll, my Cousin. He is our Training Sergeant. He will be in charge of the men going with you, and will evaluate any of the guards that are still there," Captain O'Carroll informed us.
Next was an older woman with what appeared to be her Daughter of perhaps ten years of age. She was seated on a large two-wheel cart loaded with possessions, bedding, and food. It was pulled by two horses.
"This is Caoimhe, and her Daughter, Gwennola. She is the Wife of Sergeant Oisin, and will be cooking for you while you are there. Her Daughter will assist her," Eamon informed us. Our horses and the cart had been brought out shortly after we reached the bawn. The Sisters stored our things on the cart.
"That's fine," Ken acknowledged before laying out the plan for the move to Fantstown Castle.
"Here is how we will proceed," he started, as everyone gathered around. "Kell and I along with our ladies will transfer to Fantstown Castle first to ensure that it is safe there," he started. There was an immediate objection from the Captain of the Guard and the Sergeant.
"That is our job, my Lord. You shouldn't put yourself and the ladies in danger like that," they protested.
"Captain, we will be in no danger. We will cast our wards and be perfectly safe," Ken assured him before continuing. "Once assured that it is safe there, we will return and transfer the rest of you there, if Kell decides that he is interested in having the castle," Ken finished. It was easy to see that Eamon, Captain O'Carroll, and the Sergeant were not happy with this plan.
"Very well, my Lord," the Captain reluctantly agreed after a few seconds.
"Do not worry Odhar. Kennard's wards protected us the entire time that we were away before. We will be perfectly safe. Kellen and the Mac Sweeney Sisters will back up Kennard. They also have powerful wards," Sunshine assured the Captain and the other men.
"We will return when we have determined that the castle is safe," Ken told everyone, before adding, "It might take a little time to do that, so don't worry."
Ken and I led our women, the horses, and the cart out the gate before stopping to do the transfer. Once the horses were calmed down, the Mac Sweeney Sisters and I joined hands with Ken. He started the transfer spell and its glyph while drawing power from all of us. When enough Magic had accumulated, the O'Hallinan Sisters joined hands with him, he added the Magic to the glyph, and we all vanished from Glenquin Castle.
We immediately reappeared on a road a short distance from another castle. We could see that it was rectangular, not square, and had four or five levels above the ground floor. It was located just off the road that we were on.
"The entrance to the bawn is on the east side," Ken told us as we approached from the west, and directly into the sun. As we neared the front of the castle, it was evident to all of us that this was not a well defended place. The wall of the bawn was low and appeared to have no walkways for the guards. There was no guard tower either. It was also clear that the bawn was rather small. There were a number of building near the castle, but outside the bawn. Lastly, there were no wooden gates behind the yett closing the opening in the bawn wall. I could feel the Sisters disappointment on seeing all of this. We had stayed at well defended castles, and they knew that this one definitely wasn't.
After considering these things for a short time, it occurred to me that I could cast a defensive shell reinforced with my wards around this place rather quickly, and that would be more and better protection than any bawn wall would be. Still, how one was perceived here was as important, and perhaps more important, than the actuality.
Arriving at the entrance, Ken rang the bell there, and we waited. After a time, no one had responded, and Ken rang the bell again. Still no one had responded after a considerable time.
"What's going on here?" Ken asked, and the lock on the yetts opened. Ken and I dismounted and opened them. Still no one had appeared, so we entered the bawn.
"Hello, the castle?" Ken called loudly, but there was still no answer. "Wards!" Ken said to me, and we pulled up our wards around us and the women.
"We need to find out what is going on here," Ken told us.
"Airmid, you and Almha stay here with the O'Hallinan Sisters while we investigate," I told my twins, as Ken and I turned toward the castle entrance. The yett there was also locked, but opened for us as we approached. The low wooden entry door behind it had no way to lock it from the outside, and swung open at a push from us. Inside, the ground floor smelled of horses, and the yett on the stairwell was also closed and locked, but opened as we approached.
The first and second floors above ground level were a mess of trash, broken furniture, and discarded items. This castle was rather narrow at around seventeen feet wide inside, but the chambers were long at around thirty-five feet. It would be possible to divide each floor into at least two good size rooms, once things were cleaned up that is.
We continued on to the third level after a quick check of the two lower ones. This area was warded, and I could tell that they were O'Connell wards, so Ken had set them. Inside the area was very nice and hadn't been trashed because of the wards. It had plastered walls and a large fireplace. There were rugs on the floor, some oak furniture, and a large four poster bed. There was even a fairly large window looking out to the east.
"This is where Sunshine and I stayed while here," Ken told me before we left and continued on to the fourth level. I could also feel the wards there.
"This was Master Fiacha's private apartment," Ken told me in the hallway there. "It is also where he attempted to use Black Magic with disastrous results."
We passed through the doors in the screen wall and Ken's wards into the apartment which was very nice! It was wainscoted with plaster walls above that. There was a large fireplace and some very nice oak furniture. More importantly, there was a fine large copper tub near the fireplace. This was bound to make my women very happy. There was also a large hole in the otherwise nice area rug, and the floor inside the hole was burned.
"You'll need to replace the rug," Ken told me as we surveyed the room. "We cleaned up the mess before leaving, but that was all. You'll also need to replace the window. It was blown out when Fiacha exploded," Ken finished pointing toward the east-facing window at the end of the room that was nothing but a hole now.
"This isn't too bad! I was expecting something a lot worse," I told him, as we returned through his wards and the doors to continue up to the Hall on the top floor.
When we reached it, we found that the Hall, like the first two floors, was a mess. It covered the entire fifth level, and there was a large fireplace in the side wall, similar to the ones on the last two levels. Some of the plaster and part of the wainscot had been gashed or broken, as had most of the tables and benches. Spoiled food and garbage were scattered around on the floor along with liquids that had a strong smell to them.
Finally, there was a dead man lying on the floor under the chandelier of Magic-powered lamps. One of the lamps was also broken. It appeared that the dead man had been the one to break it, to his detriment. He had been dead for some time.
"This will take some cleaning up," I said.
"Yes, it appears that the others fled when this idiot managed to kill himself," Ken admitted.
"I guess it's safe to bring the women in. No one appears to be here. We'll need to do a lot of cleaning up, and there are some definite changes that I would like to make based on things we have seen in the places that we visited, but this isn't too bad," I told Ken, as we started back down the stairs.
When we reached the bawn, we found our women with their wards raised and talking with several men who had come to the gate. Their conversation stopped, as Ken and I approached.
"A good day to you, Master Wizards," an older man said to us when we joined our women.
"This is Donogh O'Driscoll. He claims to have been the Castellan here previously," Sunshine informed us.
"Previously?" Ken asked with a frown.
"Master Fiacha brought his own people with him when he became the new owner. Those of us working here at the time were all dismissed. I understand that not all of Master Fiacha's people remained here all that long, and the staff was considerable depleted over time," the man, Donogh, told us.
"There were only four or five people working here when I was here a few weeks ago," Ken told him. "When we arrived today, we found the castle deserted."
"Yes, Master Wizard, we saw them leave over a week ago. They didn't speak to anyone, either here or in Killmallock, but those who saw them said that they looked very afraid of something, and in a great hurry," he told us. "We also tried to check on the castle and found it locked up," he added.
"Yes, it was, but we have never had a problem with locks," Ken told him. "I can also believe that they left in a hurry and didn't say anything to anyone. There is a dead man in the Great Hall. It appears that he tried to destroy one of the large Magic-powered lamps there, and that is what killed him," Ken told the men gathered there.
"Are you the new owner, Master Wizard?" Donogh asked.
"I claimed the castle after the death of Master Fiacha from Black Magic. I was here at the time to arrest him for the practice of Black Magic. The new owner, however, is my Cousin, Kellen O'Connell," Ken told them, pointing to me. All of the men had turned pale and taken a step back at the mention of Black Magic. They now turned their attention to me.
"How long were you the Castellan here previously?" I asked Donogh.
"I was born here, Master O'Connell. My family has been the Castellans here for over four generations," he told me.
"I see, and who are these other men with you?" I asked, looking at the other five men with him.
"This is my Son, Daghdha," Donogh told us pulling a young man forward for us to see. "The others were guards here previously. All but Tighearnan O'Faelan who was the Mason here previously," he finished, and brought forward a middle aged man with broad shoulders, thick arms, and large hands.
"Are all of you seeking reemployment here?" I asked to be sure of why they were here.
"Yes, we are, Master O'Connell, if you have need of additional people," Donogh told me.
"We have a few people on loan from my Cousin Kennard O'Connell, who is the Owner and Master of Glenquin Castle," I told him pointing to Ken. "They will be here shortly. The Castle will require considerable cleaning. We will be doing that before our people arrive. If you are still interested in a position here, return in about three hours. Our people will be here by then, and we will have straightened things up also," I told the men, who seemed surprised that we would be doing any of the work.
"We will return in three hours, Master O'Connell," Donogh O'Driscoll told me with a small bow before he and the others departed.
"What is this cleaning that you mentioned?" Airmid asked, as the men moved down the access road.
"The former servants left a mess on the first two floors and in the Hall on the top floor. It will all need to be cleaned up," I told her and the others.
"The ground floor will need some attention also. It still smells like a stable," Ken added.
"We can take care of that," Sunshine told him with a smile.
"Let's put our horses in the stable, and park the cart before we begin. We won't need them when we return to Glenquin Castle," Ken reminded us. The stable was quite dirty and unkempt when we checked it. The horses would have to wait to use it.

The next things that I became aware of, as I awakened, were a pounding on the door of the screen wall and the sunlight visible through the tower window. It appeared that the sun had been up for some time. "Master O'Connell, are you ready for breakfast? It's late already," a voice was telling us. "Just a minute!" I called, as I got out of bed, and donned a robe and slippers that were near the bed. Sunshine had awakened at the sound of my voice. "You need to dress. Breakfast is...
The Minor Hall was a room longer than it was wide, about thirty feet long and around twenty feet wide. The ceiling was a good twelve feet above the flagstone floor. There was a large fireplace with a lightly carved mantle above it at the far end of the room. It looked large enough to roast a quarter side of beef in. The kitchen, at the other end of the building, had a similar sized fireplace but with a plain mantle above it. The walls here were paneled also, but in a plainer less elegant and...
I awoke in the morning to find Sunshine and Rose intertwined, hugging and kissing each other passionately. "It's so good to have you back. I missed you so," Sunshine whispered to her twin. "Yes, it is good to feel your arms around me again," Rose whispered back. It was shortly after this that the Sisters became aware that I was awake. Sunshine appeared to be afraid of me finding them like this. "Please do not draw the wrong conclusion from this, my Ken," she asked looking over at...

Characters introduced in the next two chapters: Master Fiacha Owner / Master of Fantstown Castle, 5'-5" tall, middle aged, overweight and balding Having prepared the place to receive the tree, I transferred back to the castle outside of the cell that held Master Eogham. Even this far along, I was still hesitant to continue, and stopped for a time to consider my choices. Nothing that I thought of would change what needed to be done. The Ancient Wizard was correct. A powerful Summoner...

We were unceremoniously ripped awake from a very deep sleep some time later by shouting and the sound of the castle's metal alarm being rung. We both bolted upright in the dark, and I quickly went to the arrow slit window facing the bawn to hear what was going on. I could see a fire in the bawn and men rushing to the walls. "WOLVES!!" I heard someone shout. "Wolves are attacking the village!" There was a pounding on the screen wall, as I quickly dressed, since we had gone to bed naked....
The O'Hallinan Sisters, Sunshine and Rose, and I returned to Glenquin Castle that evening. Eamon must have felt our return, for he soon appeared outside the screen wall to knock, and I admitted him in. "Did everything go well, Master Ken?" he asked. "Yes, they did, Eamon. Kell now has a Caastellan, guards, a cook, a mason, a carpenter, and a blacksmith among others. He is contemplating what changes he wants to make in the castle and its bawn. We also found Master Fiacha's treasure, so...
We had not been prepared for the appearance of the chest containing the Treasure of the Firbolg Kings, when it appeared on the stage in front of us along with the Eternal Flame after Grandfather Aengus asked his question. Everyone in the front rows of seats were staring at the contents of the chest, and those farther back were standing, so they could see what was in the chest. A murmur soon started as to what it was, and how much it was worth. Everyone was interrupted in their conjecture by...
We had just finished taking our seats and Lady Caoilinn had signaled for the first dish to be served when everything was interrupted by a long, loud, high pitched, agonizing scream that was suddenly cut off. I immediately sent out my Magical senses to determine what had happened. I didn't like what I found. "What on Earth was that?" Lady Caoilinn demanded in the sudden silence that followed the scream being cut off. Captain Sean Og was already on his feet and calling for the guardsmen,...
On arriving at the Hall for the evening meal, we were surprised to see a larger table set up and that several other guests were already there for the meal. The current conversations all stopped when we entered the Hall. "These are my house guests," Lady Feidhelm told the others. "The young man is Master Kellen O'Connell and the young ladies are the Mac Sweeney Sisters, Airmid and Almha, his Apprentices," she finished. "Kellen, these are my guests for the evening meal: Master Murchadh...
I hated to interrupt the Sisters' fun, but it was getting late in the day, and we needed to come to a consensus on what was to be done. "Would you ladies like to leave here with me?" I asked when they took a little break after exploring the room. "Leave?" they both thought in my mind. "Yes, go somewhere else with me." "We had never considered that we could go somewhere else!" Airmid said in surprise. "How would we do that?" Almha asked. "I can use my Magic to transfer us to...
We were awakened early the next morning to the cold gray light of dawn by the Castellan calling to us through the wards across the stairwell entrance. "Master ... Master, you must come out here. Something awful has happened!" As I sat up in bed, my movement disturbed Sunshine, and she sat up also, as the Castellan continued to call to me. "What is wrong?" she asked. "I don't know. I'll have to go and see," I told her, as I pulled on my jeans and reached for my Wizard's...
The following new characters appear in the next two chapters: Eamon O'Flaherty III Castellan, 5'-8" tall, 150 pounds, 50 years old, brown hair going gray, hazel eyes 'Red' Hugh O'Dochartaigh Guard Captain, 6'-0" tall, 195 pounds, 35 years old, flaming red hair, gray eyes, and a bad temper We hurried up the stairs past the second floor without looking in, and continued on to the third floor. Sunshine had said that this was the Master's private floor. I quickly cast a ward...
The Castellan didn't come to get us until early that evening. We had heard Master Fiacha arrive sometime earlier, and had changed clothes to meet him. I had donned the fancy Master Wizard's robe that I had gotten from Eogham's apartment. Sunshine wore the green dress from there also, but not the jewelry this time. I had lowered the wards at the entrance from the stairwell before the Castellan arrived, as there was no need to alert them to just how powerful I was -- yet. "Master Fiacha...
The meal that evening was much more festive than our afternoon snack had been. Everyone wore their best clothes, and there was even music at the meal, which consisted of seven courses and finished with wine and ale. The twins did try some of the ale which was very good, but only a little, and none of the wine. They had learned their lesson. That night the Sisters wanted sex, which was all right with me. Both of them wanted the long, slow, and passionate variety, but separately and with a...
Standing in the street in front of the hotel, I began a mantra. Those watching looked at me and then at the hedge of thorns expecting it to vanish instantly. That didn't happen, but after a minute the hedge had shrunk below the second floor level of the hotel and was continuing to shrink. After four minutes it was only three feet high and continued to shrink. After a bit more than five minutes, the hedge had completely disappeared, and there were no signs that it had ever been there. Those...
Kell and his twins arrived an hour, or so after we had gotten back. He knocked on our door when they got upstairs. They looked tired. "Anything?" I asked, after they were seated on the bed. "A morning's ride, some nice scenery, and time spent at two ancient sites, but no trace of recent Magic use at either of them," he told me. "There were still some traces of ancient Magic at the well. Kell told me that the goddess Airmid was one of the ones that created the healing well, and that...
We were up early the next morning and packed what we would be taking with us in my backpack and a pair of saddle bags for each of us. The servants must have heard us moving around in the room, as our breakfast arrived soon after we finished packing. Following a decent breakfast, we again turned in our room key before leaving. "We'll be back in a few days. We're still checking on my Wife's Sister," I told the man behind the counter. It wasn't Conner. Bow Lane Gate was already open this...

New characters appearing in the next two chapters: Earl O'Donnell Earl of Tir Connell (Donegal), and Ah O'Damhnill, The O'Donnell, 5'-10" tall, 190 pounds, 53 years old, gray hair, beard, and eyes We reappeared in our room on the second floor. The twins were very passionate, hugging and kissing me now that we were alone. However, they had trouble walking, and nearly collapsed before I could get them to the bed. "What's wrong with you?" I asked them. "Too much wine," Almha...
The Hall at Drumboe Castle, or more properly Manor House, wasn't as large as that at Glenveagh Castle, as it would only be cozy for a mere forty people. Currently, it was set up with a single table that would seat eight. Like the rest of the house that we had seen, this room had a walnut wainscot with painted walls which were a light rose color. There were multiple plaster moldings some eight inches high around the room at ceiling level which was only ten feet high. There was a chandelier...
Our Cousins' houses were very similar to our Parents' houses, as each of our Cousins has five children. Even though there are only four of them who are married to the current Grand Master of the Union and his Brother, they have twenty children between them: four sets of male twins, four sets of female twins, plus each one had a single child, so there were two more male and two more female children. They only visit us occasionally any more, as their children are similar in age to the...
Characters introduced in the next two chapters: Aengus Crawford, the fifth Crawford heir, 5'-11" tall, 175 pounds, 28 years old, black hair and beard, dark eyes Niall Dunleevy Physician, Lady Fiedhelm's husband, 5'-9" tall, 145 pounds, 35 years old, brown hair and gray eyes Hugh Garbh O'Donnell Earl O'Donnell's oldest living son, 5'-10" tall, 165 pounds, 30 years old, dark auburn hair and mustache, sparkling gray eyes "Where is that Physician hiding? We have need of him!"...
We materialized in the Otherworld at 5:00 in the afternoon their time. The six of us must have generated a huge Magic signature on arriving there, as shortly every Master available in the Otherworld showed up in the Glen to see who had arrived. Brian was one of the first to arrive, and we introduced our ladies to him. He was quite happy to meet Sunshine and Rose, as they are Mages, who are always welcome here. It was when Kell introduced Airmid and Almha that things got sticky. The twins...
We spent the remainder of the morning on Market Street. The Sisters checked out many of the shops and stalls that were open, although we purchased very little. However, they enjoyed the looking. I was more interested in the shops of the various crafts that we passed. Wheelwrights, blacksmiths and coopers were in evidence as well as many other trades. Their signs, hanging from the buildings, were both interesting and finely crafted. Later that day we walked down Fish Lane far enough to get a...
Airmid and Almha had been nervously waiting for me. When I appeared in our room, they were instantly all over me checking to see that I was all right. When they had assured themselves that I wasn't injured, their curiosity took over. "Tell us what happened, and why you were gone so long!" they demanded. I gave them a complete report of what had happened. They were shocked when I told them about the assassins. I had to reassure them that I had been in no danger. They were still upset and...

Captain O'Sullivan Captain of the Aine, A medium height, broad Irishman with brown hair and beard Mr. Fin First mate of the Aine, A tall thin man with watery eyes and thinning blond hair Kell and I were up early the next morning after a good night's sleep. I needed to calm both horses again as it was...
Donegal Town from the Celtic Dun na nGall translates as 'stronghold of the foreigners'. There was an early Viking fortress located here that was destroyed in 1159 by Murtagh Mac Lochlainn, then the High King of Ireland. The town eventually gave its name to the County, but it never had walls like other major towns in Ireland. As in many other areas of Ireland, there is archaeological evidence in both Realities for settlers in the area going back to prehistoric times. Some of this is in the...
Characters introduced in this chapter: Greine -- Sunshine Mage, Rose's twin, 5'-1" tall, 108 pounds, 34C-21-23, 16 years old, short red hair, green eyes, some freckles, very cute; thinner when they first met Rose Sunshine's twin Sister - only present in the spirit at this time Master Eogham Master of Glenquin Castle, A tall fat man with a long brown beard and unkempt hair Like Dublin, the Limerick of 2170AC (After Cingetorix - King of the Trerari from the beginning of whose reign...
"And why would a young Apprentice like you be wanting to go to Castle Glenquin? The owner is also the Master Wizard there and not noted for his generosity, nor hospitality," the man at the market in An Caislean Nua inquired when I asked him about Glenquin Castle. "He's the very devil himself," a woman nearby injected in a shrill voice. "Still, I have been directed to see him, if only for a short time," I told them. "If you're determined then, take the road south to the Mahoonagh...
A new character appearing in the next several chapters: Lughaidh O'Clery Master of Ballyshannon Castle, 5'-9" tall, 150 pounds, 26 years old, dark auburn hair and blue eyes I awoke in the morning after a fine night's sleep. We also have jobs that we will need to leave, plus bank accounts and other financial matters to take care of," Will Stuart told us. ""If you would rather still live in Akron, I could install a portal in your house there, so you could travel back and forth to work here," I told them. "No," Myra...

I know some people here," I told her, as I approached the Mc Dermott's door and knocked. "Yes, what is it?" Mrs. Mc Dermott asked from inside before opening the door and looking up at me. "Oh!" she said in a startled voice, before looking closer. "You're the Apprentice that stopped...
As soon as I finished the healing spells and had canceled the preservation spell the body in the casket-like box snapped upright. Her eyes were bulging out in shock, and she screamed and screamed in fear. "It's all right, Rose. Don't be afraid. No one will hurt you again," Sunshine assured her twin, but Rose's body wasn't listening -- yet. Sunshine bent to try to calm the frightened girl, and Rose's spirit, which had resided in Sunshine's body for the last several years, flowed out...
I was 19 when I met Ken. I was still at Uni and I met him during a work placement at a large accounting firm in the city. I had just completed my first ever full scale audit of a medium sized business. I had essentially completed the audit on my own but I was closely supervised by one of the accountants there and he had double checked everything I had done.I had to attend a meeting with the client, more as part of my work experience than anything else. I wasn't really needed there because my...
"Complications, Carl?" Seamus asked with a frown. "There were a number of cabins under attack also. Not everyone had gotten as far as the fort before the Shawanoes caught up with them, and they had holed up in some of the cabins near it. They needed immediate assistance, and we took care of that first after securing the fort. The Shawanoes broke off the attack, once we secured the fort and the cabins with Defensive Shells. We followed them, and eliminated the majority of them," I...
"Are you joking?" Phebe eventually asked in an earnest voice. "Have I ever been less than truthful with you?" Seth asked. "No, you have always been honest with me," she admitted with a sigh. Seth rose and took a chair from another table for her to sit on. "Thank you, Seth," she said, as she sank onto the offered chair. "So, what do you want with me?" she asked in resignation after a minute or so. "You must want something, or you wouldn't be here." "We need someone to show...

Annie and Sara arrived at the printing plant just after 12:30. Sean and I were just finishing cleaning up the presses, and only needed to use a quick spell to clean ourselves up and be presentable. Annie and Sara were wearing jeans like Sean and I were, but had on heavy blouses and jackets rather than the "Magic Ink" T-shirts that Sean and I were wearing with our sneakers. They had also brought jackets for us. "It's a lot colder in Denver than it is here," Sara told us, as they handed...

Sean and I had already helped Dad plow the fields in late February, and we had planted the seeds by the 1st of March, as we were having a warm spring this year. The past three years had seen the last freeze in Mid-March, and it hadn't been conducive to early planting. This afternoon, we were out checking the various fields on foot with Annie and Sara. They were still new to farming, and we wanted them to see the...

Amelia continues the Narrative: "Are you expecting anyone else?" I asked quietly, as Duncan and Connor cast wards around the room as a precaution. "No! Let me go and see who it is," Captain Billy told us, and started for the hall that led to the rear of the house. Connor created an opening in the ward for him. After several minutes, the Captain returned with another man who appeared very reluctant to be seen here. "Tell them what you told me," the Captain directed, without...
We didn't get to see Grandfather Michael until well after noontime. We joined him in his private parlor when summoned. "Good afternoon, Grandfather," we both said in greeting after being told to enter. "Well, what do you think of us after spending your first night here, and scaring the staff half to death?" he asked with a grin. "The scaring part wasn't intentional," I told him. "Maybe not on your part," Pat told him in a disgruntled voice. "And just what is the problem?"...

Margie has the Narrative again for a time: My timing was just about perfect, as I arrived in the kitchen just as Grace was ready to leave. “Hi, where are you off to?” I asked, as I appeared. Grace jumped in surprise on hearing my voice and turned to look at me. “Lord! Margie, you scared me out of two years growth,” she told me on recovering. “Sorry, most of those in the Clan can detect when someone is transferring to their location,” I told her. “It’s a skill that you’ll develop over...

The hair on the back of his neck stood up in premonition, and he instantly reacted by reciting the spell...
Over the next few days, Dad got with Uncle Will and Thomas Stuart to determine how much paper, plates, ink, and other supplies that we used in a year. They went over the business records and then projected future increases based on the increases over the last two years. They were quite surprised at the amount of materials required. "You say that we have maybe a year or so?" Uncle Will asked. "Yes, that's our daughters' estimate," Dad answered. "We can double our regular orders and...
