July 1981, Milford, Ohio

“If she told you that Joyce and I were the ones to decide if what you had done was ‘misbehaving’,” she made air quotes when she said that, “then she’s basically told you that it’s OK. Neither Joyce nor I would consider that a bad thing.”

“But she said something specific about that.”

“Did she tell you not to?”

“No, it was more like a statement that I was going to do it, and she sounded sad when she said it.”

“Then, that fits. She knows it has to happen, just like with Karin. When you get those out of the way, she’ll know that she has you. That makes me a bit sad, of course, but you know how I feel and what I think will happen in the long run.”

“But I don’t WANT to have sex with Jennifer,” I protested.

“Sure you do. Didn’t you say there was a difference between what you want and what you should do?”

“I did. But honestly, Jennifer and I still have issues. She still should have talked to me about this!”

“Yes, she should have. And you should’ve quit trying to have your cake and eat it, too. But you didn’t. You did it to Jennifer, then you did it to Kara. In fact, you’re still doing it to Kara. But events have been set in motion, so you’ll have to work through them. Of course, you could commit to Kara now and tell Karin not to come and tell Jennifer not to come.”

“Do you think I should do that?” I asked.

“Do I? No. But it’s not up to me. It’s up to you. I think you need to be with both of those girls, decide you don’t want them, and then make your commitment to Kara. And if you do that, then you have to tell both Jennifer and Karin what the situation is. I suppose, given the circumstances, you could wait until after you come back from Sweden next year, which, in the end, is probably the best idea.”

“That’s pretty much when Kara and I can be together in any way, other than sitting in her living room.”

“Then have your torrid affair with Karin, give Jennifer the goodbye fuck of all goodbye fucks, and spend your Freshman year of college with Elyse, Kathy, and me. Then in July of next year, ask Kara to marry you. That’s what you want. You know it, I know it, and, most importantly, she knows it. And that’s why you need to do what I just said. You’ll be able to make your commitment to Kara in good conscience.”

“And you? What happens with you?”

“I’ve said it before — something will come between the two of you and you won’t be able to resolve it. Most likely religion. I’m going to date while I’m in Madison, but I think you and Kara will fall apart like you and Jennifer, and when that happens, you’ll call me.”

“OK, Cassandra. You were right about Jennifer, but that doesn’t mean you’ll be right about Kara.”

“Only time will tell. I’m pretty sure Joyce has the same outlook, given what you’ve said.”

“She does.”

“I’d wager Elyse agrees with the two of us. Your sister isn’t sure. She’s starting to really like Kara, but I know she’d be fine with me. Maybe we could have a double-wedding?” she giggled.

“Well, I’ve seen Ed following my sister around like a lost puppy and she’s eating it up, so you never know!” I said with a grin. “Now I need to go find Melanie before we eat.”

Bethany went back to Larry, and I walked across the back yard to where Melanie was standing with Pete. She narrowed her eyes and gave me a very hard look.

“Pete, I’d like to borrow your fiancée for a few minutes, if you don’t mind. We’ll stay where you can see us!” I smirked.

Pete laughed, “I trust you. Don’t worry about it!”

I took Melanie’s hand and led her to a quiet corner of the yard.

“You knew I was just teasing. Why did you get so upset?”

“Because it’s not fair!” she whined.

“Melanie Marie Spencer! You are engaged to Pete. He’s one of my closest guy friends. I know he won’t do it. That’s the end of it.”

“I could get him to say yes. I know I can.”

“He’d be reluctant,” I said, “and you know what I think about that. But, I’ll tell you what. I made an offer to Mary for a threesome with her and Josh. If she agreed to have anal sex with me, I’d do what she wanted. It turns out she wasn’t THAT interested in a threesome to let me do it.”

“You KNOW I’d do that, Steve! In a heartbeat!” she smirked. “Besides, Mary is missing out if she wants a threesome, but won’t do it in the butt!”

“You don’t get that same offer. No way. Your offer is this — you have a threesome with Pete and a girl of your choice and Pete gets to do anything he wants with her. Then I’ll give you your threesome if Pete consents.”

“No way!” she said vehemently. “Never!”

“Melanie Marie Spencer! Twice now I’ve suggested that you give Pete the same freedom and the same fantasy that you want and you get really upset. What’s going on? Why is it OK for you to French kiss me but you freak out if I suggest for him to kiss someone else? You didn’t use to be like this. I remember when Michelle was here, you wanted to trade! Heck, you broke up with Pete over that whole situation.”

“He just can’t. No.”

“What’s wrong?” I asked. “Something is seriously wrong here. The last time I saw you in a state like this, you damn near killed yourself by driving your car into a tree. Talk to me!”

“What if he likes her better?” she asked softly.

“Oh for fuck’s sake! You always liked sex with me better than with Pete, but you still got engaged to him and you’re going to marry him. I seriously doubt a casual screw in a threesome is going to make Pete break up with you.”

“But I broke up with him! You just reminded me.”

“Yes, you did,” I said gently. “But Pete’s not you. You aren’t the same girl as you were back then, either. My advice? Just drop it. All of it. Kiss me if you have to, but forget us ever getting together in any way. In fact, just drop those fantasies that Pete won’t or can’t fulfill. Be happy. Hell, there’s a good chance I’m going to marry Kara, and she’s the least adventurous, least wild girl I know! If you think your sex life is ‘boring’,” I made air quotes, “what do you think my sex life with Kara would be?

“You would call it boring as hell! I sure wouldn’t! And do you know why? Because I love her. She does what she’s comfortable with. I have my orgasms and I give her orgasms. I bet you anything you care to wager that you make Pete cum and he makes you cum. Fine, he won’t stick his dick in one of your holes, but I bet it goes in the other two repeatedly. And I am sure his tongue goes into your pussy. If the man gives you orgasms, and you love him, then what the fuck are you whining about?” I demanded, showing my annoyance.

Melanie looked at the ground, “But I want my fantasies!”

“And I want a million dollars and a threesome with Charlene Tilton and Victoria Principal! Get over it, Melanie. Go back to Pete and love him. That’s what you need to do.”

“You’re going to do that with Tracey and Marty, aren’t you?” she said accusingly.

“First off, that’s my business, not yours. Second, no, I am not. I told Tracey that just before I talked to you. And thirdly, if I should ever change my mind, you will never know about it.”

“Fine, Steve! Fine!” she growled at me.

“Jesus, Melanie! Relax. You know that’s not my thing. I’ve never had an interest. And guess what? Neither has Pete. You know I’ll push the limits in the right circumstances, but this is one limit I’m not interested in pushing. Remember, you convinced me to have anal sex, to walk in front of your parents naked, and do a whole bunch of other stuff. Neither Pete nor I are interested in a threesome together with you.

“You know what? If it means THAT much to you, call off the God-damned wedding and go find two guys at Ohio State. I bet you can find them in the first fraternity you walk into. They’ll give you your good fucking, but you’ll be really fucked then, because you’ll lose Pete and you’ll lose a bunch of your friends. It’s up to you. Is having a dick in your butt and in your pussy at the same time worth losing Pete? And me? And probably Bethany, Larry, and Stephanie?”

Melanie looked at the ground for a moment. “No,” she said softly.

“Exactly. Now, give me a hug and go back to your fiancé.”

She hugged me, then, to no surprise at all, gave me a sloppy French kiss. She walked back over to Pete and put her arm around him. He looked over at me and nodded, and I went back to Bethany, who was with Kathy Will.

“What was that about?” Kathy asked.

“Just Melanie being Melanie. She’s OK now that I basically beat her over the head with a stick.”

Bethany giggled, “She STILL wants that threesome with you and Pete, and in the worst possible way!”

“Yep. But it’s not happening. Pete’s not going to go for it and I’m not particularly interested, either.”

Kathy laughed, “Oh, this is rich. For all the stuff you’ve done, for the stuff you watched me and Bethany do, for all the stuff the three of us have done together, you won’t do THAT? Jesus Steve, you have some really odd hang-ups!”

I could tell she was being playful and teasing, so I decided to tease right back.

“Kathy, I don’t remember seeing you stick your tongue in Bethany’s pussy! Now, when I see THAT, maybe I’ll change my mind.” I chuckled.

“Touché,” she said with a smile.

“Darn!” Bethany said, trying, but failing, to keep a straight face.

“You didn’t do much better, Miss Krajick,” I chuckled. “One kiss is NOT eating pussy!”

“OK, OK. Stop. We all have our limits! You win!” Bethany laughed.

“Well, now we know what he wants!” Kathy giggled. “But I think he’s going to be just as disappointed as Melanie.”

“I agree!” Bethany said.

“Oh, poo!” I said, laughing hard.

Both girls almost doubled over from laughing.

Melanie came over just then and apologized and asked me to help Pete work the grill. Pete and I grilled burgers and brats for everyone and when we’d all had our fill, we sat around drinking Cokes and talking until it was time to head to downtown Cincinnati for the fireworks.

Ed and Stephanie rode with Bethany and me into the city where we stood on the plaza between Riverfront Stadium and Riverfront Coliseum to watch the fireworks launched from a barge on the river. I noticed Ed with his arm around Stephanie and nudged Bethany to look. She smiled, and I stepped behind her and put my arms around her and the last of the fireworks exploded over our heads.

We walked back to our car and when we dropped Ed and Bethany at home, Stephanie and I each gave our dates a deep French kiss and a hug, then got back into the car to head home. At home, we went to my room to talk.

“Time for our own personal fireworks?” Stephanie teased.

“You’re just not going to let up on that one, are you, Squirt?”

“You do know how much fun I’m going to have teasing you, right? Remember, you decided to end this, not me!”

“I know, I know. But you know it was for the right reasons. On your birthday, I’ll leave you unconscious. That is, if you still want that.”

“You know I will, Big Brother. And I bet that’s the last time, too. If you give Kara an engagement ring next Summer, that’s the end.”

“It would be,” I acknowledged. “If that last night in Chicago was the last time, I’m fine. I agreed to your condition because I love you.”

“Well, there is one other exception. Are you going to have sex with Jennifer?”

“I wish everyone would just quit asking that question!” I spluttered.

“Sorry. I didn’t realize it was that touchy of a subject.”

“Kara is worried that I will. You are worried that I won’t. Joyce and Bethany think I should. Jennifer wants to. I don’t,” I sighed.

“No, you want to; you just don’t think you should. Or rather, the physical attraction is there, but you have real issues with her.”

“I guess. I’m just afraid of what will happen.”

“The connection.”

“Yes. I’m afraid it’s there and it will mask all the problems. It’ll make things seem like they are better than they actually are. I don’t think Jennifer and I are meant for each other.”

“Will you test a theory with me, Big Brother?”

“That depends on what it is, Squirt.”

“I want you to kiss me, softly. A French kiss. This is NOT an attempt to seduce you. I want to see something.”

“I think I know what your angle is, but I didn’t feel the connection with Jennifer after she confessed to me the first time.”

“I remember. But I want to see what happens.”

I pulled her into my arms and gave her a soft French kiss, our tongues gently dancing around each other. I instantly became hard. But that was it. I felt nothing else. I could tell that she didn’t either.

“That’s what I thought,” Stephanie said. “I felt you start to get hard, and I got a little wet, but otherwise, it was just a kiss.”

“What the hell does that mean?” I asked.

“That the connection can go away. At least with regards to sex. We still have a connection, but it’s different. In fact, I need to tell you something, honestly.”

“Sure.”

“I’m not attracted to you like I was before. Don’t get me wrong, I think you’re handsome, and my body is reacting to a dreamy guy kissing me, but it’s not the same. How about you?”

“I was afraid to tell you that,” I admitted. “But it’s true. You’re smoking hot and I have a physical desire for you, but it’s not the same.”

“Interesting. I wish we’d done that test this morning before I went with Ed. I think that might be what broke the spell, so to speak. Maybe Jennifer was right after all.”

“And if my connection with you is broken, or changed, I guess is a better word, then it’s going to be changed with Jennifer because of that whole surrogate thing.”

“Yes. I think you two will fuck each other silly when she’s here, hopefully with me involved, but I think it’s over between you two for good. You were right, Big Brother, everything did depend on me.”

“Interesting,” I said. “So, about your birthday?”

“Good question. Can I change my request?”

“Maybe. It depends on what it is.”

“Well, I still want to be with you and Jennifer, of course. But, rather than my birthday, the night before you propose to Kara, I want you to fuck me unconscious. Sort of a final act. If that takes years before it happens, that’s fine. But otherwise, I just don’t have the desire.”

“OK. I’ll accept that modification with one caveat. You have to keep the teasing to a reasonable level, Squirt.”

“I will, Big Brother. I promise! Now, hug me again, please.”

I pulled her into a tight hug and stroked her hair. It felt like I was hugging my sister, not my lover. My body didn’t react as it had even just the few minutes before, and I was glad. I released her and kissed her forehead, and she went to her room. I sat down to write in my journal and contemplated the events of the past couple of days. I was truly getting more clarity about the future.

I had not expected to be where I was right now. A year ago, when I had arrived from Sweden and walked off the plane, I had expected to spend my Senior year with Jennifer and then start our life together in Chicago. Everyone else would have fallen by the wayside. But that didn’t happen. Instead, I had met Kara and my entire life was turned upside down. Now, instead of Jennifer, it was Kara I was looking forward to being with me in Chicago, starting our life together.

Moment of Clarity

She stood in the hallway staring wordlessly at the suitcases, the laptop case, his briefcase. Piled up where she hadn't seen them when she walked in. She walked back into the den and looked at the man sitting in the shadows. "You are insane, Lyle. You are walking out on me and our two sons ... because of one fight! One stupid mistake I made while I was drunk a few hours ago. I didn't have sex with anyone. I didn't betray you. You are certifiable." When he didn't answer she started...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 7 SakurakoChapter 57 Land of the Rising Sun Part III

June 23, 1994, Oguni, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan My first week in Japan flew by, and a routine developed. Sakurako would wake me; I’d exercise and run, then shower and have breakfast, and share tea with Sakurako. After breakfast, I’d meditate, and then have my training session. After lunch, I’d work in the garden, or, as I had this day, wash the floors in the house. Hiroshi would accompany me back to the cottage and we’d talk while I washed up and dressed for dinner. After dinner, I’d spend...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 7 SakurakoChapter 54 Westward Bound Or is it Eastward

June 15, 1994, Chicago, Illinois “That’s everything, I think,” I said. “My luggage is in the trunk of the car, I have my passport, tickets, and money, both dollars and yen. I can’t think of anything else.” “I’ll see you in five weeks,” Elyse said, giving me a quick hug. “Did you see they rioted in Vancouver last night because they lost the Stanley Cup?” I chuckled, “Only Canadians would riot when they LOSE the Cup! I did see that on the front page of the Trib. Are we ready?” “Michelle and...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 5 Housemates

August 1981, Chicago, Illinois On Sunday morning, I made my usual call to Karin. I described everything in the apartment and all the things I’d done during the week, including the reception. Both of us would start school in a week and we were both looking forward to it. When we finished talking, I went out for my run, showered, and ate breakfast. I made some tea, started a load of laundry, and then turned on the stereo. I put on an REO Speedwagon album and then relaxed on the couch with the...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 3 JessicaChapter 63 Back to Work

August 21, 1989, Chicago, Illinois “Unbelievable,” I said when I read the headline from the Chicago Tribune. “It says here that Solidarity activist Tadeusz Mazowiecki was nominated to be Prime Minister of Poland.” I hadn’t had a chance to read the paper on Sunday because it hadn’t been delivered before we left for the race track in Michigan. “So now what?” Kara asked. “We’re in totally uncharted territory. Your guess is as good as anyone’s right about now.” “Steve, do you have a minute?”...

A WellLived Life Book 8 StephieChapter 36 My Lifes Journey

July, 1983, Chicago, Illinois I woke up early on the First of July, because my body clock was still set to Swedish time. The flight back had been long but uneventful, and I was happy that the businessman in the seat next to me hadn’t wanted to talk. I read, wrote some longhand journal entries, ate, and generally relaxed while the plane zipped over the Atlantic. I’d come home, taken a sauna, eaten a light meal, and gone straight to bed, not bothering to check messages, look at the mail that...

A WellLived Life Book 1 BirgitChapter 4 Calm Before the Storm

June 1977 When I got home, I grabbed a Coke and some chips and went right to my room. I didn’t think I could deal with my parents or Jeff or Stephanie. I just needed to be by myself. That wouldn’t seem odd to anyone, because I often went to my room to read. In addition, I now had the TV I’d received for my birthday. I flipped it on to WXIX Channel 19 and reruns of Gilligan’s Island and Green Acres played in the background while I read. I had to get my mind clear for the final exams that...

July, 1982, Milford, Ohio I woke up early on Friday morning to make breakfast for Kara and her mom before she went to work. Mrs. Blanchard was surprised, but very pleased. After her mom left for work, Kara gave me a fierce kiss. “Thanks for staying in and cooking breakfast for us,” Kara said. “I hope that doesn’t cause you trouble with Stephanie, with you breaking your normal routine.” “Don’t worry about it,” I said, kissing her back. “We got in a bit later than I expected, and she’ll...

A WellLived Life Book 8 StephieChapter 38 Jennifer

July, 1983, Chicago, Illinois After Rosie left, I stripped the sheets from my bed, as well as the cover of the duvet, and tossed everything into the washing machine. I lit a lavender candle in the room, and then swept and dusted. I did a quick spot-check of the rest of the house and noticed that the tub in the sauna needed to be cleaned. I scrubbed it, then mopped the sauna floor with a damp sponge mop. I finished cleaning the sauna about the time the washing machine finished, so I moved...

May 26, 1991, Iron Mountain, Michigan “Shall we see if we can find a farm?” I asked at breakfast on Sunday morning. “That sounds like a great idea,” Jessica said. “There’s a visitor’s bureau in town,” Kara said. “I saw it when we were here the first time.” “I’m sorry I ruined that vacation,” Jessica said. “Ruined?” I protested. “Are you kidding? Getting you back was way more important than a few days of vacation!” “I agree,” Kara added. “Jess, you know exactly how bad off Steve was...

August, 1984, Chicago, Illinois The rest of the week proceeded as expected - class on Wednesday, as well as the usual visit from Penny, work on Thursday, and class on Friday. Kara and I had lunch together at IIT, Sofia practiced her driving and parking, and I hung out with Mark Agnini after class for beers. Staci and I got into a couple of interesting debates about the Old Testament that Mark had to break up to allow others in the class to participate. She was very much of the ‘directly...

March 25, 2000, Chicago, Illinois “What time do I need to have you home?” “8:00pm will be fine,” Misty replied. “My parents are in Normal visiting my brother at Illinois State. They aren’t supposed to be home before 10:00pm.” Misty and I were in my car on the way to the NIKA apartment which, fortunately, was not being used. With our expansion, it was in more or less regular use, and that meant I didn’t have access to it as often as I would have liked. I was glad there had been a delay in...

A WellLived Life Book 1 BirgitChapter 7 Setting the Course of My Life

June 1977 Friday ended up being a non-event. The more I thought about it, the more I was sure that there was no way on this earth I could say what happened between Birgit and me was a sin. Calling it a sin would debase it into a meaningless act. I could never do that. And the more I thought about Jennie McGrath, the more sure I was that I couldn’t call what she did for me a sin, either. If the church was right, I was going to hell. And frankly, there was no way that could be true. So I...

May 11, 1992, Chicago, Illinois Monday was turning out to be a LONG day. After my run and talk with Gina, and my talk with Elyse, I had a full day at the office scheduled. A WellLived Life 2 Book 3 JessicaChapter 23 So Now You Turn Back Into Diana Prince

January 19, 1989, En-Route from LAX to ORD When the engines of the plane started, Jeri reached over and took my hand. She held it while we pushed away from the gate, and taxied for takeoff. Her grip tightened a bit as we hurtled down the runway, but nothing like the death grip she’d had on my arm for the flight out. The plane roared its way into the air and once we leveled out, Jeri’s grip loosened but she didn’t let go of my hand. “How are you doing?” I asked with a touch of...

September 1982, Chicago, Illinois The weekend was quiet and besides homework, I worked on the program changes for Frank, called Karin, Tatyana, and Kara, and hung out with my usual study group. A WellLived Life 2 Book 3 JessicaChapter 52 Lifestyle Choices

June 11, 1989, Chicago, Illinois It was just after 3:00am when I kissed Trish goodbye. She’d been an enthusiastic, energetic, and adventurous lover. We’d done just about anything either of us could think of, though her breasts weren’t large enough for a tit-fuck. The last time had been in the shower where we’d ostensibly gone to clean up afterwards, but instead I ended up taking her from behind as she leaned against the wall of the shower. “I think I’ll have you again, Steve Adams,” she...

A Moment of Perfect Clarity

Have you ever experienced a moment in your life of perfect, crystal clarity? Where a myriad intertwining threads come together to form a nexus of exquisite awareness, a yawning chasm of realization from which there is no turning back? For me, that moment was the moment where Alison Hunter, Ms. Hunter, clipped the short silver chain to the collar around my neck and told me, in absolutely no uncertain terms, what my life was to be from that moment, and what it was not.“You will obey me without...

A WellLived Life Book 1 BirgitChapter 38 Freshman Year Ends

May 1978 The first couple of weeks in May were busy with school, work, and friends. Except for Becky, I didn’t even have any dates. But I was OK with that. Well, almost OK. I wanted to see Anna, but it likely wasn’t going to happen until school was out. I had tutoring sessions with Melanie, but she still wouldn’t talk to me about anything other than Spanish. Barely a hello. I was grateful for the tutoring, but it was maddening seeing my friend this way. I hoped someday she could understand...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 44 Spring Break 1982 Part I

March, 1982, Milford, Ohio As I drove along I-65, I thought about what Stephanie had asked for and what Bethany had said without even knowing about the request. Of course, because Bethany and I were so in tune, she might have actually had an idea that I was struggling with getting involved with my sister again. I kept turning it over and over in my mind and I kept coming to the same conclusion — that I shouldn’t do it. I was torn between doing what Stephanie wanted and doing what Kara and...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 6 SamanthaChapter 21 Georg and Maria

September 7, 1992, Chicago, Illinois “That went reasonably well,” Michelle said when her parents drove off. “There were a few times I thought my expression would give away something I shouldn’t. You were messing with me, weren’t you?” She grabbed both my hands and smiled, “I was telling the truth, in my own way. Thank you!” She leaned forward and kissed my cheek. “So, what’s left?” I asked. “To visit UofC tomorrow and formally withdraw from classes. To spend some time with you and your...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 14 A Southern Belle a Surprise Proposal two Cheerleaders an Old Flame and a Girl Back Home Part I

October 1981, Chicago, Illinois I arrived back at the apartment just before 10:00pm and saw the address for the party. I decided I wasn’t particularly interested in going so I put on some music, poured myself a glass of wine, and started reading more about Russia. I was alternating between the history and culture book and the Communist Party book, decided on the history and culture book for this time. I didn’t get much reading done because I was thinking about Tatyana, which led me to...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 9 KamiChapter 38 And Sometimes It Stinks To Be Big

January 23, 1996, Chicago, Illinois “Father, bless!” I said, greeting Father Basil with upturned palms. “Bless you, Stephen,” he said as I kissed his hand. The waiter showed us to a quiet table along the wall of Roditys in Greektown. He took our drink orders and was back quickly. We placed our food orders right away and he left to put them in with the kitchen. “I’m not quite sure how to address this, so I’m just going to ask you bluntly. Are you the father of Michelle’s baby?” I shook my...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 8 NIKAChapter 68 The Rules

June 29, 1995, Chicago, Illinois On Thursday, I finally had lunch with Melissa again, something I hadn’t been looking forward to. Much like with Cèlia, Melissa and I had passed an inflection point and I was left with sub-optimal paths forward. I’d been struggling with the possible solutions, and all of them had pitfalls. When I walked into Takumi, I had something of a plan. Whether it was good or not would only be known once everything played out. “I spoke to my wives,” I said after we’d...

December 5, 2000, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota “I had a good time last night,” I said. “I was surprised you invited a friend!” Mary laughed as we walked into the exam room, “Naomi had a good time as well. You know what a Resident’s life is like.” I nodded, “No social life.” “Exactly. You guys seemed to hit it off pretty well.” “Yes, but I’m not here for that!” “You’re everywhere for that, and you know it!” I couldn’t help but laugh. “Let’s just say that you hit the sweet spot -...

Book 2 Bitsys StoryChapter 6 Changes

Bitsy entered Mar's study and looked around, she was surprised not to see him waiting for her. She had promised not to miss their afternoon study time. Listening she thought she heard laughter from the back visiting room and went to look. Peeking into the room, Bitsy stopped and stared, there on the floor sat Brand, Trink, Virlane and Marluxion, it looked like they were all drunker then coots. They were laughing and snickering and talking about the dangers to one's precious parts while...

A WellLived Life Book 3 PiaChapter 25 The Puzzle and the Cat Part II

March 1980, Hovås/Göteborg, Sweden I woke early as usual, but just enjoyed being in bed with Katt. When she woke, she hopped out of bed and pulled a robe out of her closet and handed it to me. “There’s a spare toothbrush in the bathroom. Go have your shower, then we’ll have breakfast after I have my shower.” I quickly showered and brushed my teeth, and went back to Katt’s room. She went to shower and came back a few minutes later. She dressed, and I got a very good look at her sexy body...

April 5, 1997, Chicago, Illinois “You missed cuddles this morning!” Birgit said accusingly when I walked into the house about 9:30am. “I know, Pumpkin, but I had a work emergency and had to go see Aunt Joyce and Grandpa A.” “And now we have to get ready for karate!” “I know. We’ll have some family time this afternoon. I don’t have any plans.” “Good!” I hugged her and the rest of the kids, then went to find Kara. We hugged and kissed, and went straight upstairs to get ready for...

September 3, 1989, Chicago, Illinois “Good morning, Sensei,” I said, bowing to Sensei Jim. “Good morning!” he said waving me to a chair in his office. “How was your trip?” I asked. “Enlightening. I spent most of my time acting as a manservant to Sensei Robert and Sensei Hiro.” “He who will lead, must first serve,” I said. “Someday, I’m going to send you to Sensei Hiro, should he live long enough. You understand.” “Does that mean you are now 6th Dan?” I...

October 29, 2000, Chicago, Illinois Birgit followed me as far as the stairs, then scooted upstairs when I went to the front door and opened it. “Hi!” Sophie said. “Hi!” I replied and held the door open so she could come into the house. I closed the door behind her then led her to my study where I waited until she went in, and then walked in, closing the door behind me. I nodded to one of the wingback chairs, she sat down in one, and I sat down in the other. “Is something wrong?” she...

A WellLived Life Book 8 StephieChapter 61 Anala Part II

August, 1983, Chicago, Illinois I walked in the near 90°F heat to Carla’s place. I was grateful that the humidity of the morning had dropped significantly; otherwise the heat would have been unbearable. By the time I walked up the steps to the apartment over the photography studio and knocked on her door, I had broken into a light sweat. Carla answered almost immediately and invited me inside her studio apartment. The air was moderately cool, and the window air conditioner was running full...

July 1982, Milford, Ohio On Tuesday morning, I kissed Kara goodbye and headed to my parents’ house for my usual morning routine with my little sister. She was happy that I could spend the morning with her and asked to take a walk, so we weren’t in the house with my mom. “Let me guess — this walk will end in the clearing,” I said with a smile. “Yes,” she said, taking my hand as we walked down Overlook towards Klondyke. As usual, we turned around and walked back, taking the path to the...

March 13, 1994, Chicago, Illinois “Hi, Steve!” Ailea said when she opened the door. “Hi,” I replied, accepting the offered hug. There was no touching of lips, just of cheeks, and I wondered if I’d misread her intentions at her birthday lunch, or if, perhaps, she detected my reluctance to return the offered affection. “Lunch is ready, so go ahead and sit. I’ll bring it in from the kitchen.” I went to the low table, sat down, and a minute later, Ailea brought miso soup and sushi, our usual...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 10 BridgetChapter 72 An Explosive Discovery

April 3, 1997, Dallas, Texas “Remember what I said about drinking too much,” I said, as I poured bourbon into three cups. We’d stopped at a liquor store, bought a bottle of Blanton’s, and then returned to the small suite I’d reserved at the Westin. Deborah’s room was down the hall, and Krissy’s was two floors below. Krissy’s comment had caught me a bit off guard, but I hadn’t reacted visibly. I didn’t know her quite well enough to know if she’d been teasing with Deborah, so I was being...

Jessica giggled, “I set the alarm for thirty minutes earlier!” “Then let’s not waste any of it!” I said pulling Kara to me. Kara’s squeals as I plunged...

September 1, 1987, Chicago, Illinois “I heard that you have some kind of plan to help Ed,” I said to Connie. “There’s no plan,” she replied. “A witness who saw the shopkeeper alive after Ed left came forward.” That sounded convenient, and I wondered if the witness was real or someone that Anthony had put forward to solve the problem. Certainly, the videotape was real, because I couldn’t imagine how Anthony could have faked that, but the witness? Who knew? “So is he being released? Or is...

August 17, 1997, Chicago, Illinois We finished lunch and Marissa and the younger kids went to play, but Natalie sat with the adults to talk, with coffee, tea, or soft drinks. The Sarcus were very comfortable, but the Heaths were still struggling. But, vitally, they hadn’t left and hadn’t insisted Natalie leave the group. “Can you explain how you developed this attitude and approach?” Chris asked. I nodded, “It started when I was just a bit younger than Natalie. My mom was a total control...

A WellLived Life Book 3 PiaChapter 6 A Tale of Three Cities Part III

July 1979 — Falkenberg, Sweden On Friday, when I got back from my run, Pam was in her bra and panties again. I whistled at her, she giggled, then finished dressing. I showered, and we went to breakfast and finished up our last day. Once class was done, we were pretty much free. On Saturday, we’d have several optional activities and then on Sunday we’d head back to our host families. After dinner on Friday, I took Pam’s hand and we walked towards the river. It was quiet and peaceful, and...

July 1980, Over the North Atlantic We reached cruising altitude, and I settled back to read my book. Pam raised the armrest between us, snuggled close to me and read as well. The cabin crew offered drinks, and I had my first Coke in a year! Meal service began about an hour and a half into the flight. After the cabin crew picked up the trays and offered drinks again, they passed once more, offering headsets for the movie. Trevor and Maria took them, but Pam and I didn’t, instead we turned on...

July 8, 1997, Chicago, Illinois “Is it really that surprising?” Leah asked. “I suppose not,” I replied. “I just didn’t read too much into the kiss on the cheek.” “I didn’t think it was a good idea to kiss you on the lips with all those people around, because I had no idea who they were or what they would think. November 8, 1993, Chicago, Illinois A dark fog swirled before my eyes as I tried to take stock. My head hurt, badly. I felt something on my face and realized, dimly, it was an oxygen mask. My right hand was uncomfortable and I recognized the feeling of an IV and pulse-oximeter. My left arm ached fiercely. On my chest I felt the pads and wires of an EKG. I didn’t feel anything else wrong as I continued taking inventory. I tried to open my eyes, but the fog didn’t clear. I tried to speak, but...

August, 1983, Chicago, Illinois In the morning Anala and I ran as we had the previous time, then showered together, carefully washing each other’s bodies in an intimate but non-sexual way. After our shower we went to the kitchen and I made breakfast and we sat down to eat. “Steve, may I make a suggestion?” she asked. “Sure.” “Broaden your circle of friends. March 1979 Monday was back to the normal routine of school. May 1979 The limo dropped me at home about 9:00pm. I took my stuff to my room, stripped, and hung up the tux. The rest of the things went into the hamper. I took a shower, put on shorts and a t-shirt, and walked down the hall into my dad’s office. I saw no reason to put this off any longer. “Stephen, you need to explain yourself!” my mom demanded. “I was in Mrs. McGrath’s, well, Mrs. Sanders’ now, wedding, as I said.” “You walked her down the aisle! When we finished, Karin held me tight and refused to let me move off of her. “Sleep there, please,” she whispered. July 3, 1996, Chicago, Illinois I blinked several times and took a breath before responding. It didn’t help. And equally importantly, without explaining Alexi? And without giving me the first...
