I said, “My name is Jeremiah Winslow. My number one is Aimee and you already know the twins with me.” Indicating the Chief of Police, I said, “This is the Chief of this police department and one of my most trusted friends. We all just call him Chief. What are your names so we know what to call you?”
The male twin answered, “We are Marshal and Marjorie Murray, and yes we are friends of Joe and Jan.”
I started out with the facts, “We all know that you have a unique skill. I have an organization that will allow you and your skills to flourish and grow. While at the same time, we will provide you with the structure and controls so that you will stay out of trouble in the future.”
Marjorie asked, “What kind of organization do you have. We are not interested in working for the government.”
I explained, “I am putting together a very high end security team. My number one, motioning toward Aimee, is interviewing special operations team members that are separating from the military, due to the end of their enlistment or retirement. What this means is that they are in the prime of their careers and have years of field and engagement experience to pass along to the next generation. You could be a part of that next generation.”
Marshal asked, “What type of experts are you bringing on board?”
I explained, “Aimee has already recruited one of the top snipers and small arms specialists in the world and arguably the most sought-after hand to hand combat instructor and special operations planner that our President’s Secret Service and the Pentagon have on retainer for problem area coverage around the world. They are both retiring Navy Seals.”
“I am told. The President himself will contact me and explain his relationship with each of them. They have special access to his protective service personnel. They also have his personal contract information for short notice consultation. One of the reasons I wanted the Chief to sit in, is so that he can validate what I am saying regarding these two people. Chief, what do you think?”
The Chief stated, “Both of their names are on the list of the top three most named in their field of expertise anywhere in the world.”
I looked at the twins and asked, “Would you like to be trained to use your talents in a more constructive way than playing games. These two have contacts that have taken your fun to a level the two of you could only dream about. Marjorie replied, “They are our friends and it would be best if they explained it to us. We may believe it from them.”
Marshal asked, “Will we be able to ask questions of Joe and Jan or are we here to listen to everyone preach at us like you have since you arrived.”
I smiled at Marshal and said, “It wouldn’t appear that we are preaching at you if you would participate in the discussion. Your short answers with no information make me think you are hiding something. Should we leave you to the fate you have earned. Tell me, am I wasting my time even talking to you? I am trying to keep you out of jail and you are answering our questions like you think I am trying to bury you. Tell me Marshal, am I wasting my time?”
Marshal looked at his sister and saw the tears trying to escape her eyes. When he saw this he almost lost it himself. He said, “I am sorry, whenever we trust someone, they always let us down and have ulterior motives. They always want something from us or to use us. It is easier to not trust anyone we don’t know.”
I looked him in his eyes and said, “Marshal, I’m not going to blow smoke up your backside. I am going to use you and your sister. It’s just not in a negative way. I’ve already explained that I am putting together a high end security team to protect my number one and myself. They will also protect my organization and you will earn your keep. Nobody gets a free ride, you are going to have to make commitments like towing the line and not abuse what you have and will learn. You are going to have to learn to trust my intentions, everything I do is for the betterment of the organization and that means bringing in the best of the best. The question you need to answer is do you want to be a part of something special or do you want to take your chances with the criminals and a life of fear of consequences?”
I was getting used to their poker faces when I made the statement. I shook my head and continued to watch them. Marjorie finally broke her silence when she said, “Marshal, I don’t know about you, but I am scared stiff about going to jail. We won’t even be in the same one. I will be in a women’s prison and you will be in one for men. If we are going to be separated, I’ll take my chances with them. Hopefully they can convince our father to let us go and not try and punish us with prison. You know he doesn’t want us.”
It was now Marshal’s turn to be on the verge of tears. He couldn’t speak and nodded his head.
I nodded to Joe who said, “Marshal, Marjorie, let’s talk openly. I believe that Mr. Winslow and his number one Aimee are really here to help or we wouldn’t have asked for their help. We approached them and asked for their help to intercede on your behalf. One of our concerns is that if you go to jail, the wrong type of people will get their claws in you and make you help them.
