You knew it wouldn't but you half hoped the lights would flicker any time this beast turned on. You imagined some guy in a powerplant somewhere scrambling to flip a switch for more power generation when he saw the drain your system produced and giggled to yourself. Additionally you'd gotten an amazing chair, two big monitors Tim's Hardware had tested as the best available, and a surround sound system.
Setup wasn't hard since you'd been in IT your whole adult career and you'd set up similar systems for others plenty of times. You just wish you'd have been able to do this sooner in life. After an hour or so the Doors Operating System booted up in an instant and it was time to get some gaming going. You'd taken a full month off from work, perks of being the owner, to destress yourself from this latest page of your life. So you loaded up a mini fridge with soda and beer, logged onto the Ice gaming store, and scrolled through popular games you wanted to try. One game caught your eye. Dino World. You'd played it years ago and it looks like it has remained popular all this time. Although it has a few expansions at this point.
Dino World was a single player open world survival RPG. It was set in a kind of dystopian world with primitive and futuristic technologies, but it also had magic. As a player you could do a ton of things, but the main draw was building your own kingdom and populating it with people for whatever role was needed. Blacksmiths, technicians, engineers, food producers, military, and on and on. The kicker though was dinosaurs still roamed the giant continent and you could tame and ride them. In fact it was magic that the taming process was based on, which made you be a least a little magical if you wanted to tame dinosaurs on your own. You could even outfit them with various gear depending on what you wanted them to do. For instance you could outfit a raptor with a comfy seat and have an almost motorcycle like ride, or you could armor them up and fit them with weapons for a more offensive option. Pretty much all the most well known dinosaurs were available with tons of ways to customize their gear options. Previously there was a war lord, Wendel the Grim, who constantly raided around trying to destroy any upstart kingdom, and the end goal was to destroy him instead. Currently it looks like they have it set up story wise that Wendel the Grim was dead and everyone was trying to fill in the void, as well as a mysterious new race of lizard people invading the continent from the south trying to get their own kingdom set up.
Neat, you decided to give it a go again and looked at the buying options. A couple hundred dollars later, after splurging on DLC and Deluxe editions, you waited for the game to download and install. You cracked open a couple beers and decided what kind of character you wanted to play. An idea popped into your head. Being a single player game you decided you wanted to be a badass character. However, starting at level 1 you only had so many points to spend on stats and skills. There was a way around this though. Trainers existed for this game. What the trainer did was add as many points as you wanted to max out your stats when you started. You didn't necessarily want to cheat as it kind of makes a game too easy, but for this run of the game you decided why not. Plus you'd be able to give yourself some extra money to start out with. You deserved something easy to help yourself relieve some stress.
You downloaded the trainer and after the game was installed you created your new character. John Doe. Your plan was to install yourself as a warlord, albeit a fairly benevolent one, and set up an awesome place to live for those that decided to join your cause. Plus you really wanted to set up some sweet dinosaur army corps to defend yourself with. You tailored your character's face to look pretty much like yourself, but you took some liberties with height and weight. You weren't very tall but John was 6'2" and had a pretty muscular frame. Not Arnold buff, but if you had the motivation he was about what you'd be shooting for. Being that this was a game for mature audiences it even let you select your cock size. You weren't tiny in real life, but you weren't huge either. You spent a little longer than you would have thought you would debating on how big to make yourself. You decided that if this really was you in real life you wouldn't want anything gigantic so you could fuck women without worrying about hurting them. You decided on a thick member that came to about 7 inches all said and done.
Next you started in on your stats. It had three main stats that skills were based on. Physical, which determined how strong, fast, and durable you were. Mental, which determined brain power skills points and how fast you learned new things. Magic, which obviously determined your magic potential and how powerful your magical abilities were. There was also overlap on these stats when it came to skills. For instance accuracy with a sword was pretty much Physical related, but firing a gun was both Physical and Mental. Especially when it came to firing weapons at a distance. You engaged the trainer you downloaded and raised your stats pretty high. You left a little room to grow each one as you leveled up, but with how you had it you'd be able to do anything in the game if you wanted to.
Next came your skills. Skills were much more robust in this version of the game you noted, and drew bonuses from your stats. There were survival skills like tracking, plant identification, stealth, and animal/dinosaur knowledge for example. There were common skills like cooking and cleaning. Crafting skills for making your own gear/weapons or dinosaur gear/weapons. Melee weapon skills, ranged weapon skills, building skills, leadership related skills, and many more. It was all a bit overwhelming at first, but with the trainer you were able to put in an appropriate amount in each one to know how to do pretty much everything at an effective level, and you felt like you'd be pretty badass in a fight. Especially if you got some good gear. Speaking of you increased the amount of gold you'd start with. You gave yourself enough to start a very small town if you wanted. Again you wanted at least some challenge to the game. Theoretically you could give yourself enough money to start an actual walled city and hire an army capable to defeating anyone, but that would make the game super boring.
Finally came magic. Magic used to be set in the skills area, but in this version they separated it into its own section. In here you could learn and improve all the different types of magic available. To start with you'd only have enough points to start a few schools of magic and as you progress you could focus on a particular school of magic. Like taming magic for instance. The higher up you get the larger dinosaurs you'd be able to tame. You decided to not cheat as much with this part and focused on being able to tame any dinosaur, and gave yourself some decent offensive magic. Things like invisibility, transmutation, summoning, or flying you left alone so you'd have something to work on when you leveled.
With that you clicked on the start button, but unexpectedly a message popped up.
